From day 1 I have been completely satisfied and happy with both hair color and style and the service and people have exceeded my expectations. I got my hair done yesterday 11/19 with a junior stylist named Maddie (Maddison Charrette) Not only was she rude through the appointment, did not offer to take my coat (where am I supposed to put my winter coat during the appointment?) she did this to my hair. She also clearly saw this and still left me to walk out of the door. When I called to get it fixed, they told me I would have to either see her again or pay full price for someone else to fix it. This was my first time at Moss and it will absolutely be my last. Casey was my hair stylist and was very nice and I didn't expect it to come out perfect going to a salon I've never been to before but I never thought they'd go this wrong. I've provided photos for what I originally asked for and photos of what I got. She sent me home with blue hair dye all over my ears, neck, shoulders, and skin rubbed raw on my forehead. The highlights were so shockingly bad and drastic that I felt horrible about myself every time I looked in the mirror. I decided to call the salon and ask if there was any way they would be able to fix it and was super kind and understanding with them about it. They were able to fit me in before my trip abroad and attempted to fix the mess by rinsing out the blue and adding a black glaze so they would be less noticeable. The results were slightly better than the first time but as soon as I washed my hair at home for the first time my hair looked bright blue again and just as streaky. This isn't even the worst part, whatever blue dye it is that they used has literally ruined everything in my bathroom. It has stained my tub floor, shower walls, bathroom sink, hair brush and curler, pillowcases, towels, robe, shirts, you name it. They said that it should come out but it is extremely difficult even with bleach products and deep scrubbing. I attempted to dispute the $300 charge because this process has been such a mess but they denied it. I would not recommend anyone go here if you are getting a coloring job because the products they use are clearly not good quality. I would have had better luck doing it myself and wish I had known beforehand. read more

My first time at Moss, and i had such a great experience. Casey ( hopefully sp is correct) was exceptional. I decided to bleach my own hair during COVID quarantine, and ended up with 13 different colors from black natural underneath to lavender highlights when i was finished.. so bad lol. Casey was able to match it from root to ends with a high & lowlight. Fantastic consultation, and conversation. Love love LOVE! I recently helped my daughter-in-law for her wedding that we hosted at our house in Massachusetts. She had a trial appointment at a local salon and it was a total meh! experience with practitioners who didn't really listen to what she wanted. With less than a month to go, we had to find somewhere else. While Moss Salon is a 40 minute drive for us, my mother (ever particular about her hair) always swore by it. She went to Tammy for many years and as I was thinking where to go, I thought of my mother who passed away in 2017 and called Moss. Lena was available and we setup another trial appointment - perfection! Not only did she do a tremendous job both with the trial and the actual wedding day, she made my shy daughter-in-law feel very comfortable and most importantly, heard as Lena listened to what she wanted. I arrived in Providence with a month old hair color disaster. (Another stylist had tried to give me a fresh look, which was way too dark - difficult to correct!) After researching salons in the area, I decided to try Moss Salon, based mostly on its excellent reviews. I was lucky to get an appointment with Kelly. She immediately knew what she could do to improve my color - and importantly, what would make matters worse. She found a much better base for my new roots and added highlights to brighten the darkness. The overall result was terrific, making me feel like myself again. Started with very passive aggressive lady at the front who severely lacked not only customer service but also human decency. My stylist, Casey, did awful job pulling my hair as hard as she could for 20 minutes. Then she proceeded washing my hair WITHOU placing any towels underneath. And at the end not only she didn't ask basic "how you like it" but also didn't offer to review her work, which was correct considering absolute wreck of haircut she made. Bottom line, had better service and quality at a beauty school for a fraction of the cost. read more

yelena is great! This was my first haircut in 2020 due to COVID. I was so impressed. Yelena did a full color and cut in an hour. She got rid of my dark roots and matched it to my dyed color, and she didn't even need to bring out the swatches to make sure the color was the same. She's just that good. She was so efficient, which really impressed me. The cut was amazing too. She somehow knew exactly what I wanted before I even said it. Lost my information for my cut & style appointment that I made. The original phone call I was put on hold multiple times and the girl was asking "how do you put a credit card # in?" to her coworker, she was clearly frazzled. I was quoted $50 for an appt. with a junior stylist for 6pm, all was settled. Got there and I was not in their system and they looked at me like I had 5 heads when I was upset after showing them my card confirmation text and 10 minute phone log. Family & friends had great luck here and I had been excited all day, telling everyone about my new cut. Had washed and dried my hair right before, got cash so THEY wouldn't be taxed, left 40 min early as to not waste THEIR time, sat in 5pm providence traffic and paid $10 for parking because I couldn't find a street spot. They offered me an appt. the next day, I declined as I was frustrated after all my effort to get there for 6pm. They eventually said they could get me in (after hearing my mother & aunt were clients) and although visibly upset, I was there already and accepted. They came over with a "new client form" and asked what I had been quoted for my original appt. with the junior stylist, I said $50. She said "okay well the woman who is taking you now is a senior stylist so that will be $70". They were expecting me to pay extra for a mistake on THEIR end. I left so upset because of how disappointed in what was supposed to be a fun treat to myself. No way to run a business in customer service. Lost a possible life-long client and I will be sharing my experience with friends and family. read more

Mediocre experience. One of the worst haircuts I have gotten in recent memory. The top was completely disconnected from the sides. Stylist was prompt, friendly and efficient, though I should have been more attentive to what was going on as she was cutting my hair. When I called, the next day, to see if I could get my bangs trimmed further (to blend the top and sides), I was greeted by a grumpy person at the front desk who said she'd call me back, but never did. I called again and she brushed me off. Stylist could not fit me in for a simple five/ten minute bang trim. I went somewhere else to get things fixed and I'm glad I did. I was very skeptical about getting a haircut at a salon since all my haircuts have been completed by a barber. However I am growing my hair out and I am not sure a barber would know what to do for a haircut. My girlfriend recommended this place so I figured I would give it a shot. The salon itself is very nice and as a man going into a salon I thought I would feel uncomfortable, but I did not at all. Everyone was very friendly and offered me coffee and other beverages as I waited for my haircut. Finally my name was called and off I went into the salon. The set up is kind of cool, it's like each hair dresser has their own little section the isn't attached to anyone else's and has their own space to work. Lena did my haircut and she was very friendly and talkative which prevented those awkward silences you get sometimes when you get a haircut. I had a great experience and my haircut came out great. I am very disappointed with this salon and their customer service. My usual stylist was not available so they booked me with Yelenia. I have blonde hair and so does she so I figured she would know what she is doing. The first time she did my base color it was adequate . I was very disappointed in the blow dry as she was obviously rushing and I left the place feeling like wow I could have done a better job myself! I decided to give her another chance so I booked my next base color for my roots. Once again she was rushing . Threw in the color and gave me a half effort blow dry. At the end of it all She made an odd statement about my hair saying maybe we should have done highlights. It was obvious that the color applied did not match my hair and it basically was orangish brown not blonde. When I got home and looked in the mirror I was in disbelief at the color. My friend said to me what is going on with your hair? This is when it was confirmed that I was not seeing things! I tried calling the salon several times and their phones and emails were not working (a regular occurrence) . Finally a receptionist recalled back to discuss. They offered for me to come in and fix and I was being pushed to do this. I didn't really feel comfortable and decided I wanted my money back. I have emailed and called several times and they have not addressed my concern once! They refused to give me a refund and my issue almost 1.5 months later remains not addressed. They told me that Yelenia is a renter there and will not refund me. I asked receptionist to speak with the owners and she said they will not be able to help me. I wanted to express my concerns because if your are renting out a chair to someone they are reflective of your business. The salon appears cute on the surface and this is what drew me in years ago. Quamil did a nice job and SIA can provide a fabulous blow dry. They advertised that they sold Kerastase products which is what drew me here in the first place. When I showed up and they didn't have these products I was disappointed. I feel that I need to post a review so that others are not subjected to inexperienced hair coloring . Had they done the correct thing and fulfilled my request of a refund I would have felt more valued as a customer. Instead they put me in an Extremely awkward situation by asking me to come back and have my hair fixed by the very same person who ruined it in the first place .
