Decided to try Roots Salon because it was convenient and close to home. I only wanted a perm but they advise me to cut my hair first so the perm could hold. My hair ended up being way shorter than I wanted. Didn't have the best experience. I feel like they weren't really keeping up with the trends as much either. read more

This is a beautiful space that is home to many hair dressers. I went in to see my usual hair dresser Mikalia. She has a chair off to the right of the main entrance. It was close to the sink area as well as the bathroom which I found super convenient. I had Mikalia do a full head of baylage (hand painted highlights), some layering, a trim and a blow out. I have been going to Roots for 3 years. Danielle Nelson has always done a fabulous job foiling and cutting my hair. Always very attentive and conscientious giving the look and easy to maintain style I like. Love her. A few weeks ago something came to light that compelled me to write a review. We had a storm, and my appointment had to be cancelled. Danielle contacted me right away and quickly rescheduled an appointment for me for a few nights later, which was a Godsend because I was traveling the following week and my hair needed to look good. I showed up for the appointment that Friday night. We were chatting and in passing, I asked her when her planned cruise with her family was, which I knew was coming up. She nonchalantly said, "tomorrow." I was shocked! Like, WTH is she doing in the salon on a Friday night, when her family cruise was the next day? She then told me she also had two clients on Saturday morning, whose appointments were also cancelled due to the storm. Danielle's husband was going to pick her up and they were leaving for the cruise with her kids FROM THE SALON! Danielle made sure her clients were taken care of, before she left! That is dedication! Love this salon. My first time here and it's gorgeous! Clean, spacious, and warm. The staff there are very welcoming and the owner Michelle was nice to come over and welcome me. Karen is my stylist and will forever be my stylist. She is so talented and literally is a color genius. She will take the time to discuss the plan of color and cut for your hair and will help you through the process. She is realistic and will tell you what will and will not work. I started out deepest darkest brown and wanted almost white blonde. She expertly told me that it will be a process and did not go straight blonde on my hair- which would have ruined my hair. Even though it's virtually impossible to get an appointment for eyebrows with Shannon at Body and Soul (in Ovation's Salon) with ZERO web presence, I feel it is my duty to share one of the best kept secrets in RI. BS (Before Shannon) I had no idea what my face was missing. I bopped around from threader to threader and usually walked out missing the tails of my brows. Something no girl with my face should ever be without. When my boss, a beauty industry veteran of 25+ years recommend Shannon for waxing, I decided to give her a try. AS (After Shannon) I can truly say that well shaped brows polish a final look and have the power to enhance natural beauty. She has a gift for pulling out the appropriate shape and knows exactly what needs to be left alone to fill in. I'm on a religious three week rotation. This salon....is beautiful. The environment is warm and the staff is so welcoming. Michelle the owner is just seriously amazing. I desperately needed some help with a bad highlight job (like REAL bad). She not only reached out to me but she rearranged her schedule to make time for it. I have very long hair and some stylists usually are a little shy about trimming my ends so they'll leave some dry ends behind or they just go overboard, but trying a new place is always scary. I came here and received outstanding customer service and got a wash, great trim and style. They were able to squeeze me in, right before thanksgiving. I followed my stylist Dori to this salon and I can't say enough about how awesome she is. She is the only stylist I have had that will really tell you what styles will or won't look goiod on you based on your type of hair. I previously brought pictures to other stylists and they wouldn't be honest with me and say that my hair was too thick, curly, etc, for those types of styles. Dore really knows what will work and she does an amazing job with color too! The salon itself is nicely decorated too and has ample stations for hair styling as well as nail services. read more

Best Salon in this small state first class operation all I can say is WOW! I just can't believe that today was my first time there. I met the owner today and he had stated to me that they been in business for 39 yrs but at that location for only 6yrs and that he had taken it over from his mother in Law 3yrs ago. I was in the area today and found Ovation on yelp. I was in luck--they could take me for eyebrow waxing right away with Lori. Lori gave me hands-down the best eyebrows of my life.
