I received a gift certificate to this spa for xmas and decided to use it today as It's my birthday. I got my hair and toes done and neither experience was enjoyable. I believe my stylists name was heather. I showed her plenty of pics of what I wanted mY hair to look like. When she cut my hair she was super aggressive. I've never had a more painful hair cut in my life. She was brushing it so crazy that she was creating knots. Instead of brushing the knots back out she would cut them out. I wanted short wispy layers and got long heavy ones that you can Hardly even notice. She didn't take the time to dry my hair fully or style it after. So I left her chair with damp. puffy hair. So much for having nice hair for my bday. I just called another salon to get it redone. So that was a waste of time and money. Also, have a major headache after dealing with her brushing. The products they use also smell like old people. I had planned to also get my toes and fingers done. The pedicure started off rocky as I was already miserable about my hair. So, it was hard to enjoy the peDi. The girl who my toes wasn't great. She cut them so short that when she filed them it hurt so bad. She was just filing on bare skin. Usually when you get your nails done they lead you to spot to sit and lEt them dry. She led me right to tHe counter and said I was all set. So, there wasn't aNywhere I could sit an let them dry beforre putting my shoes on and driving. So I drove him in my disposable sandals with fresh wet nails. Needless to say they are all messed up. Every year my husband buys gift cards for our 3 daughters and myself. I get the benefit of the extra card for purchasing over their specified dollar amount. This year the benefit was $25 for purchases over $200. He was spending $600 and asked the salesperson if that meant $75 in bonuses. She asked a manager and he was told yes. He arrived home to find only a $25 bonus. We returned to the salon to be told no there was only a $25 bonus for any amount over $200. They would not accept a return of the gift cards. Had he known that policy we could easily have made 3 $200 purchases and received the $75. Once we use these ill fated gift cards none of the four of us will be returning customers. It's a relatively small amount but extremely poor customer service. read more

I recently checked out the spa services at Blue Sky Spaworks. I didn't check out the salon side of things so I can't really comment on any of that. They offer a wide selection of spa services including facials, massages, wraps, and more. I tried the La Stone Massage with Lindsey, and really enjoyed it! Lindsey was awesome, and the massage itself was my first stone massage. I've done many massages before at other spas, but never tried a stone massage before this. I loved the heated element of the stones, which really added another dynamic to the massage. I would happily recommend this massage. My only criticism about Blue Sky Spaworks is that I wish there was more of a relaxation room for visitors to the spa as opposed to a general waiting room near the entrance. I totally understand that it doesn't make much sense based on the way this place is set up, but other spas I have visited often have a quiet, low-light, relaxing setting where guests wait (in spa robes and slippers) before and after their spa services. It didn't really take away from my enjoyment of the massage, but I find that changing into a robe and kicking my feet up in a relaxation room before and after my massage can enhance the experience even more. read more

I went to Blue Sky today for a blowout and left feeling very disappointed. My hair did not look styled and she applied way to much product to my hair before, during and after styling. I left with my hair feeling weighed down and the style looking outdated. I made it a point to ask for her name at the desk as I left to be sure I never get her again if I returned. She really needs to update her hair drying skills. When I leave my colorist I feel like I have a special occasion blowout that lasts for days and gives my hair volume yet keeps it straight. I had the most amazing experience here! First of all, this place is so aesthetically pleasing and overall a very relaxing environment. Secondly, I called day of to schedule a haircut, as I typically do when making impulsive decisions like that, and was surprised they were able to get me in! For the life of me, i don't understand their prices. But my nails look fabulous. However, there's always a reason I have to return and that makes me sad. When nails are not polished to the ends and then polished again a little underneath the tips, the polish comes off sooner. Shellac or gel should last at least two weeks! And for almost $50( plus 20% tip) for a shellac, that's serious. They are so friendly and I'll return but I'll be more vocal. (Additionally, why does it cost $8 to remove shellac or gel?? Very very costly. It's the same polish you use. I didn't add that cost in to above.) read more

Wasn't impressed I got a pedi it was suppose to be 50min but the service was less then par the foot soak was the best part but the trimming and scraping was to gentle she had no muscle in it . Came back here because I received a gift card for my birthday. I wanted to book another massage but was so bummed with how busy they were. I'm only available after 3:30 during the week due to my work schedule but their next opening was a month from the time I called! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My mom just purchased 3 gift certificates for my sisters and I for Valentines Day for $150 each. I called this morning and spoke with Trish to try and book a massage and she claims that they are not accepting massage appointments until the end of May at the earliest!!!! She also wouldn't even allow me to make the appointment for May so I'm sure this will happen again in 3 months once I try to book again. I received a gift certificate for Blue Sky from my daughter, what a treat! Heather was amazing, the best French Manicure and Spa Pedicure of my life! She really took her time and was meticulous in her work, my nails looked fabulous. They use stainless tubs for the pedi soak which kept the water piping hot, so nice compared to how the water always gets chilly with the other type. The leg massage was wonderful as well, not some quick swish swish done but a true massage! I honestly fell asleep at one point, good thing I caught myself before I started to drool!! They canceled my wife's appointment days before it was scheduled. My wife is an RN that works 12+ hour day shifts in a hospital on her feet. My wife called back when she could; they complained she did not call them back in time. Then they re-scheduled the appointment for 4 weeks later. My wife is upset and having limited time as an RN looks forward, and frankly needs, these appointments. I called the Ops manager and also talked to the Owner; they displayed a careless attitude and asked if we wanted the May 14th appointment or not. The re-schedule reason was because my wife has too much hair and the hour slot was too short. Hope this does not happen to you. It seems they have enough business to cancel appointments of semi-regulars, like nurses with difficult schedules. Even though my wife would not go there again, I would recommend making a standing appointment if you can; maybe they respect those appointments more. It is a disappointment because Karen did a great job. My wife was very happy with her service. We recommend Karen if you still want to take the chance of going there. read more

I was gifted a GC years ago and finally decided to use it. My hair is very short and decided to bring a picture of the style I had had before. What I walked out with was nothing like I requested. When I mentioned it was micro short the stylist said. 'In a few weeks it will grow out'. Not what I expected. I have still have a credit, doubt I would trust them to cut my hair again. Awful service, awful treatment. Went in for a balayage with Heather. At the consultation she claimed to be able to do the treatment but convinced me I needed to come in for two prior treatments to strengthen my hair, which was a bunch of crap. They were botanical hair shampoos that cost 50 bucks a pop. Not to mention she began tweezing and penciling in my eyebrows without my permission because she just "wanted me to see the difference", then charged me 10 bucks for "doing me the favor" and tried to sell me the pencil! The day of the actual treatment, She wouldnt answer exactly what she was doing, how long if was going to take or how much it was going to cost. And after three hours in the chair was told to leave and come back the next day to finish. But she would hurry up and squeeze in a hair cut before I left, not exactly what someone paying 65 for a hair cut wants to hear. She didn't ask what i wanted or how to cut it, just cut it. Then said ok 3 hours are up; leave and come back tomorrow,because it was a state covid rule. Which I found out later from the Better Business Burea it was not. My hair was orange and yellow and white and I started to cry. Heather laughed told me not to cry go home and drink wine , pay up front and come back tomorrow. I should've never paid and told them to get lost. But I paid and came back. Next day she was getting ready to dye the roots she turned orange , which she should've never touched. I am not an expert but I knew that if she had hit my hair with that dark dye my hair would've drank it all right up. So I ask if she thinks that's wise. She said you know I was thinking that too. Maybe I shouldn't do that? Her lack of self confidence was alarming so I asked her to please just get the orange out of my roots. Instead, she proceeded to bleach my entire head, my scalp was on fire. I was in pain for another 3 hours. I was told, if it gets too painful I'll just rinse it off and leavd you orange up to you. After another 3 hours and spending over 300 on treatments not including tips. I left orange and bleached, and brassy yellow. With scabs and burns all over my scalp. I asked to speak to the owner, I was told the owner doesnt speak to clients. The manager Trish blamed everyone from me for not knowing whet I wanted to previous stylist saying I was coming in for a color correction and they gave me a deal. Which was a bold faced lie. Then she back peddled and offered to have me come in and see a different stylist for more toner. No thanks, I disputed my charge with my bank and they fought it saying I knew what I was paying for. I have scars on my scalp, a 450 dollar estimate to fix what their stylist did to me, from not 1 but 3 other salons in the area. And I will tell anyone who will listen that that washed up 60 year old hack from Long Island is not the hot stylist she thinks she is. She is an old lady trying to be young and simply didn't have the skills to do what was needed but too much pride to admit it. And once it was clear her only defense was to treat a paying client like crap. Never again! read more

First of all, this place smells amazing!!! I could definitely smell the aromas of eucalyptus in the air. Ahhh ... I was immediately relaxed! On this visit we went for an hour and a half couples message. Every cent was well worth it. Both my husband and I left feeling like new people. We both had the lavender and eucalyptus oils mixed in with our massage oils to make for a more pleasing experience. We can't say enough about both our message therapists. Unfortunately, I asked the girls both their names twice and still couldn't remember them .. ugh but they were phenomenal. I can't say enough good things about this place. We can not wait to go back! I was shocked and disappointed after I spoke to Trish DuBois, the spa manager last week regarding an appointment that I had to cancel a few hours prior to it's start time. She obviously does not take Covid-19 seriously. Our conversation left me concerned for future clients as well as the staff. I had booked a "special" that I saw on FB the night before my service - for a purchase of a pedicure and receive 50% off any manicure. I was very much looking forward to it! Unfortunately, I woke up that morning of my mani/pedi with a headache and a sore throat. Now, it could've been the start of a cold. Or it could've been allergies? I don't know. I decided to take some aspirin, drink some tea and wait a little bit to see if I felt any better because I really didn't want to be "that" client and cancel the day off. Also, selfishly, I really wanted & needed some pampering! My appointment was at 1:30pm and by 10:45am - I was not feeling any better so I decided I should just call to cancel my appointment. Ashley answered the phone. She didn't seem concerned when I told her about my symptoms. She just said that because of my short notice that she would take $25 off of a gift card that I had on file. I was shocked! She didn't want me to stay home? I was doing it as a precaution to the Blue Sky staff and clients! I told her- "if you are going to charge me and you don't care about any possibility of me being sick with covid...then I would love to still come in for my services as I do not want to be charged for something when I feel as if I am trying to do the right thing for your staff and clients." I said that I would be in for my appointment. But Ashley seemed to ignore me and said that her manager would call me. Shortly after I spoke with Ashley, I received a call from Trish, the spa manager. She wanted to let me know that she was going to make an exception this time and waive the $25 last minute cancellation fee for me as a one time courtesy. She then began lecturing me on why that fee is in place- that her staff has "mouths to feed, mortgages to pay" and by me canceling that day it was now throwing everything off because of staff schedules and clients who might be on a wait list. While I didn't appreciate her tone/manner, I agreed with her completely. As I was not one to do something like that. I have friends who work in that business. I understand the importance of needing income. I explained everything I had told Ashley to Trish. I still offered to come in. Trish said "no, I already cancelled your appointments and waived the fee." Not once did she say- no, it really would be best for the safety of my staff and our clients if you just stay home and reschedule- which is exactly what I had hoped to do. She was clearly more concerned with bringing in $$$ than protecting her staff and clients. Shame on you Trish. I have been a client at Blue Sky for over 20 years- I have enjoyed many services facials, massages, waxes, pedicures and manicures. But after my experiences with Trish and Ashley, I could never go back. I now consider Blue Sky an unsafe environment. I just know that I would never again feel the same kind of relaxation that I used to love every time I was there. read more

This review is strictly based on the customer service experience at Blue Sky. I would give the services themselves 2.5 stars. I love Aveda and their products but the general attitude of the staff at the spa leaves much to be desired. First, plan on booking your service at least 2 months in advance. If you call sooner than that, be prepared to feel like a tremendous burden to the scheduling staff and more than likely, not get an appointment. I'm happy for any small business that is thriving, but at Blue Sky, I consistently get the impression that my business is not valuable, my call is an inconvenience, and the appointment I book is a priviledge. Secondly, when I buy product at the salon, and want to use my Aveda loyalty card, it is a process and the process is clearly irritating to the front desk staff. And lastly, as I recently found out, when you do book your service months in advance and your technician calls out sick the day of your appointment, be prepared for the staff to be completely inflexible and unaccommodating. There was no one to backup my technician (management issue). My first service was scheduled for 5pm and the next service at 6:30. The options were to cancel the appointment entirely or just keep the 6:30 appointment. When I asked if I could book a manicure or pedicure or other service to fill the time from 5 to 6:30, the answer was absolutely not, everyone was completely booked. In short, I have a gift card to burn so I will go to the spa today and suck up the bad energy one last time. But, going forward, when I do treat myself to a spa experience, I'll go somewhere that makes the entire experience a treat from beginning to end. read more

3 weeks ago, I found out Blue sky is unfortunately not what you'd expect from an expensive salon-extraordinarily rude, disrespectful, discourteous and pretentious staff. Actually, to her credit, my nail tech was very nice and appeared genuinely embarrassed about my encounter with the owner upon my arrival. 5 minutes late, and I'm made to feel like a second class citizen, complete with the eye rolling, big sighs and holier-than-thou attitude. "Unsure" of if they could fit me in for my appointment- for a $50 gel manicure! Yes, a $50 manicure. I know, it's Aveda, which is the only reason I would pony up that money- I do love their products. This was one of those encounters that really makes you question why someone would own a business that requires a very minimal level of customer service if they hate themselves and everyone around them. Who knows, maybe it's because her dream is long over. Her marriage is falling apart. She did everything she thought she should, jumped through all the hoops, obtained everything she thought was going to make her happy. But she's obviously not happy, never happy, it was never enough. Maybe demeaning and shaming customers makes her happy. This was a treat to myself when I was back home and should have been a pleasant experience. And my manicure didn't even last 2 weeks. UUgh. Today was my first visit here. To be honest I had a gift card that I've been sitting on for 2 years and finally figured to give it a whirl. I booked an hour massage with Allison. I'm so bummed I didn't do it sooner. The place itself is extremely inviting and super posh and clean. I showed up a few minutes late and they were still very accomodating. I've been to a few massage places over the years and this one was the best I've ever had. The rooms are clean, the music and lights were perfect, and my therapist was very friendly and professional. I've been here twice now so far, once for a facial and once for a massage. The inside is nice, clean and private and the receptionists were very sweet both times. The aesthitician/massage therapist met me in the waiting area promptly and then took me to the scent bar where you pick the types of scents you prefer. Each time I ended up choosing grapefruit. They use the scents while they're performing the services to make it more enjoyable, but they are never overpowering. On both occasions, I found the technicians to be very friendly, professional and relaxing. I've had bad experiences in both the facial and massage departments before, so this is important to me. When you're done, they give you time to get your stuff together and offer you water or tea. I will definitely continue going here for this type of service because finding a good place is tough. One thing that I don't think is so great is that you have to tip in cash. I don't usually carry cash, so that can make for an uncomfortable situation since the technicians totally deserve a tip. Blue Sky Spaworks is exactly what you'd expect from an Aveda salon - tasteful decor, courteous staff, and a hefty price tag. I went today for a massage that was wonderful (Allison did a great job - very nice and perfect balance of pressure. I recommend her!) but had a few hiccups along the way. First: it was nearly impossible to get an appointment! It's a big place so I can't imagine this was due to a lack of staff. I tried to make the appointment for my birthday but had to wait three weeks for an opening for a full hour massage. It wasn't a date or time I particularly wanted, but when I tried to schedule a Monday appointment (my day off), it was closer to a 6 week wait! Yikes! Second: I paid for my massage with a gift certificate and only then was told that gratuity could only be paid with cash or check. Really, who carries a checkbook anymore?! It took the hostess a couple of minutes before she offered to give me a self-addressed stamped envelope so I could mail in a check...she seemed just as content for me to leave no gratuity at all. Blue Sky offers great, friendly service. Just be sure to bring a cash tip and book well in advance. read more

The ambiance is great, staff were friendly but the receptionist were very chatty and did not fit the profile the spa seems to pride themselves on. The spa requests all cell phones be switched off which I understand and agree with, but then I shouldn't have to sit and wait for my appointment having to hear the receptionists chit chat all about their personal life.
