I LOVE my hair! I moved to RI last year and I have been nervously searching around for a good hair place (yes, for a year) that is in a medium price range with talented hair stylists. It's funny because I live so close, but this actually showed up on my third search. I did a lot of research because I have been done wrong before, and I found the incredibly talented Taylor on Instagram! Now, I have colored my hair before, but was always nervous to do a balayage because my hair is dark. Taylor can make your hair look amazing--no matter what session you are on. I got a lot of compliments from friends and family, even before I went even lighter. Taylor is also really fun to talk to and has a great personality! The salon itself is great, it's so clean and well kept. I love coming here! Getting your hair done can be such a stress reliever. 10/10 Definitely recommend!! read more

I have been going to Jess at Salon Beautopia for about 3 years now. She is nothing short of amazing. If you are ooking for a colorist, please go no further Jess is awesome. I've been looking for a stylist in RI since moving here a year ago and have had REALLY bad luck regardless of price point. I went here after doing a google search as a 4th try for a specific color. I booked Ivan who was GREAT. Even though I booked the wrong service in my appointment he didn't grumble (too much) about it and I felt from the beginning to the end that he was trying his best to give me what I wanted. The end result was a thousand times better than the last 3 I've tried, and he let me know exactly what the next steps should be to get me to the color I want. I actually appreciated that there wasn't a ton of conversation, shampoo and style were great, price was very middle of the road. It wasn't as cheap as some places and wasn't as expensive as some places - I didn't feel like I was hugely taken advantage of but it wasn't like AS cheap as some of the other reviews imply. So happy to have discovered this Salon. I received a Facial Groupon here, as a gift, and wasn't sure what to expect (which is to be expected of groupons...) Off the bat - really nice, clean and cute interior. Not even a whiff of attitude about the Groupon. The Dermalogica facials are done by Lisa - and Lisa does a fantastic job. Very thorough, informative and attentive - I must have been in there for a good 90 minutes. I have been looking for an alternative to the rather pricey facials on Providence's East Side, and I think I have finally found it. After the facial, I thought why not keep a good thing going, let's get this hair fixed up too. Despite being pretty busy, they squeezed me in and I got a great trim as well, compliments of Ivan. Got my first hair cut in a year for my birthday. I had been avoiding hair cuts after spending several years in western Pennsylvania and getting terrible haircuts from rinky-dink salons there, so my hair had so many dead and split ends and it was so dry and damaged, but Ivan brought it back to life! He gave me the exact cut I wanted and it turned out better than I could have hoped. It's so soft and silky now and looks so full and bouncy. I will be going back to Ivan for all my hair needs for as long as I live in Rhode Island, he was very knowledgeable about cut and color and was so pleasant to talk to. Liz is excellent and I get tons of compliments on my hair. I find it easy to schedule online and I never have any problems. I've been happily seeing Jessica for about 3 years now, and she always does a fantastic job on my hair. And I'm picky! I also love this salon because it is obvious the owner cares about her business. The space is clean and high-quality. An example is the hair washing stations. She didn't install just the basics. She has sinks that are adjustable (the height can be raised or lowered), and the reclining seat even has a foot rest as well. I'd imagine these extra features cost a pretty penny, but the owner pays attention to the details! Something that I appreciate! I am no longer in pain when getting my hair washed at the salon...it is actually comfortable! read more

I recently visited Salon Beautopia for my wedding hair and makeup and absolutely loved the work that the ladies did. From the initial phone call, to our trials, to the day of my wedding, everything was done professionally, beautifully, and on-time. My bridesmaids, mother-in-law, grandmother-in-law, nieces, and me all looked absolutely stunning. We had 8 women and 2 girls getting their hair done. 5 of our ladies got makeup done as well. We spent just under $1300 for everything, which was completely worth every penny. I felt and looked like a princess, or rather a queen, on my wedding day. I was initially worried about my makeup running and my hair falling out, but by the end of the night I still looked great! If I know of any other brides getting married around the RI area, I am absolutely recommending Salon Beautopia to them. Thank you to Jess and her team for everything! read more

I made an appointment here because of the reviews but when I went to my appointment my experience was nothing but awful. I literally left crying: I was there for 2 hours being processed and the dresser hadn't even grabbed a pair of scissors, I left with a basic haircut didn't even get the layers I wanted, I was so upset didn't even want my hair to be blow dried, it would have only resulted with me being there longer. I paid $100 and didn't even get a receipt. & when my hair did dry, I Didn't get the color I wanted at all! My hair looks exactly the same. Worse experience of my life. No stars. I don't recommend this place to anyone. read more

This is the first hair salon that, in my 22 years of life, I have liked and actually want to return to. The salon itself is beautifully decorated and clean, giving off a youthful and chic atmosphere. I got a layered trim and balayage done by Jessica B, and the results were amazing, despite the fact that I have ink black hair, which salons usually struggle when lightening. My mom got a root touch done by David, and it looks similarly great. Furthermore, the prices are fantastic: my balayage, trim, complete with the usual hair washing and styling, only cost $100 plus tip, and my mother's root touch only cost $45. The only complaint I have is that the stylists are not very friendly. They are amazingly skilled in terms of hair, but this is the first salon I've been to where the stylists don't make any effort to get to know their clients. However, I still plan to return because they make hair look SO AMAZING. read more

I am so happy with this place! After a series of disappointing cuts/color services over the last two years, I was scared to give it another try. I took to yelp for some intense research on hair salons before settling on this place, and I'm so glad I did! I saw David for balayage coloring and a long layered cut. I came into Salon Beautopia with high hopes but as someone who has been let down by salons before, not expecting too much. Basically, I was in need of a trim and a color and saw them on Groupon. After hours of searching Yelp reviews later, this salon was the top contender. They were offering a Groupon deal for cut, partial foil, and blowout. What I wanted was a cut, full color (cheaper than a foil but still not technically the Groupon deal), and a blow out. The salon didn't bat an eye at honoring the Groupon rate for it and even without that, it would have been a really good price ($80) for the service I received. Since their head stylists don't accept Groupons, I was paired with David and I really am so genuinely glad that I was. David is a younger stylist but don't let that fool you - man knows what he's doing. I showed him some Pinterest photos of colors and cuts that I liked and he really delivered in a major way. The cut is absolutely gorgeous and exactly what I wanted - nothing extreme, just long layers in a trim sort of way because I am getting married in a little less than a year and want to keep my length. My hair is healthy and still long which I am so happy about. The color I showed him was a deep brown with either purple or red undertones - I didn't know which would work for my complexion and instead of settling on one or the other David gave me both in the most beautiful way. His techniques were clearly those of someone very skilled and I actually felt at ease right away and let him do his thing. When we were done, he gave me the best blowout I've had in easily two years and then even offered to style it further if I wanted. I couldn't believe someone would ever have allowed him to go past the blowout, it was so stunning! I feel like after a long time of searching for a salon and hair stylist that will give me the look I want without breaking the bank or being so cheap it shows, I have found that. I came in with a Groupon to get a partial foil and haircut. I told the girl straight away that I had to go in 2.5 hours to another appointment. While my hairdresser did spend a long time with me and I appreciate that, she did not listen to what I wanted her to do. I told her I wanted dramatic highlights and they turned out very subtle. You can barely tell she highlighted my hair. Also the cut was not how I wanted it. Plus, she took so much time cutting my hair (even though I told her I had to go again), that I missed my other appointment and now I have to pay a missed appointment fee for that other appointment. I'm appreciative that she spent her time with me, but not if she's going to make me late and not even do what I want. read more

I have been going to Ivan now for about 8 months. I had been going to the same hairdresser for about 10 years and it was time for a change. He is the best! He is always right on time. He is quick but doesn't make me feel rushed. He spends his time with you and listens. He doesn't overbook and he doesn't try to see 3 clients at once like at my old salon. He made me feel like I mattered as a client and he knows his stuff. My color, highlights, cut and eyebrows have never looked better. The salon is bright and clean. Everyone is friendly and plenty of parking. Easy to find. They sell nice products but they don't force them on you. I highly recommend. read more
