BEWARE - Absolutely atrocious experience dealing with StorAmerica ownership. They do not care whatsoever and are unreasonable and unresponsive at a corporate level and specifically at the location of 4950 E Thomas Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85008. 5 years ago I rented a 10x10 unit for around $92/month and I just moved out November of 2025 and I was paying $192/month (constant rate increases on the same template every 6 months are common in the storage industry). I e-mailed and left a voicemail for the corporate office and the owner of 4950 E Thomas Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85008; nobody returned my e-mail or call. I spoke to the manager and asked her if there was anyway to get a rate reduction after 5 years of being a loyal customer because the online rates for my same unit were half the price; she spoke to the owner and said that the only way I could get the online price is if I moved to a different unit. I met with the manager and she showed me a 10x5 unit with a much better rate, so I decided to consolidate some stuff and to move to the smaller unit. When I showed up to do the paperwork, she informed me that she could not find the unit she showed me online, so I would have to choose a different unit in order to get the online pricing and the only one they had available for that price was a 5X10 unit, which makes it much more difficult to move into because the opening is so small. I was sick of paying $192/month and already made plans for someone to help me move, so I accepted the 5x10 unit. Two days later, I checked online and the original one the manager showed me that I wanted was posted online now at the reduced price; I asked the manager to ask the owner if I could just move my stuff from the 5x10 unit to the 10x5 unit and get a credit for the amount I just paid and she said I could not. Zero accommodation or consideration for anything. When I moved from my 10x10 unit, I was supposed to have everything out by 10/31/2025 but being that it was Halloween night, I asked the manager if it was ok that I finished moving my stuff over the weekend. She said no problem and that I would just be charged a prorated daily amount for the days I went past 10/31/2025. She told me to sweep the unit and take pictures and then e-mail them when I was all moved out. I finished moving out on Sunday 11/02/2025 and I sent them pictures of the unit and let them know I was all moved out. There office is closed on Sunday and Monday, so I went in Tuesday to sign the move out paperwork and they had charged me a prorated amount for 4 days, even though I had moved on the 2nd, not the 4th. They said because the office was closed on Monday, the 3rd, the system automatically charged me for the 3rd, but they were open on the 4th and still charged me for the 4th as well. I asked for a credit for the 4th because they were opened and I had been moved out since the 2nd and they said sorry we can't do anything about it. I left a voice mail for the owner again and she never called me back. I was so frustrated, I just paid for the 4 days to get it over with and leave. The manager (Asian lady, I believe April) was nice and tried to help me but the owner said no. I decided not to spend another dime here and went to look for another unit elsewhere, even though I had just moved all my stuff and it was a huge inconvenience. I found a much better place opened until 10pm with a 10x6 unit for half the price of StorAmericas 5x10 unit. I was so annoyed with my experience at StorAmerica that even though I paid for the entire month of November, I decided to move out two weeks early. I wish I would have left along time ago. The facility is nice, even though the elevator is broke all the time, but dealing with ownership is horrible. Do yourself a favor and look at other facilities in the area (DO NOT go to RightSpace on 52st) Keep in mind, rate increases every 6 months to 1 year are common in the storage industry and shady people often hang around storage facilities in Phoenix, regardless of the one you choose. There are two Extra Space Storage facilities in the area; they are ran much better and actually have customer service. read more
