Rented a unit online late in the evening and was sent the unit #, access code, and instructions and gained entry to the unit first thing the following morning. Terry & Kate reached out to welcome me and offered their assistance. When I upgraded to a larger unit and during check-out, Terry was super easy to work with and made the process hassle-free. PLEASE AVOID EXTRA SPACE STORAGE AT ALL COSTS This review in no part has anything to do with the exceptional customer service of Terry at this location. This 1000% corporate greed. I came to this location based upon convenience is having to move my mother out of her long time home in one weekend. Three months into my term, I get a notification that my monthly rent is being adjusted due to normal cost adjustments. I get that. I have owned several businesses. However, after three months my rent is increasing slightly more than 50%. A cost adjustment is usually in single digit percentages. This is nothing more than CORPORATE GREED. I've been renting a small 5 x 5 storage unit since 2007 in a ground floor evaporative cooled building. I'm able to drive up next to the building for easy loading. The facility is clean, adequately lit and secured. I added a battery tap light in my unit to see better at night. I enter a code on a keypad each time I enter and leave my unit. I have access to my unit from 6 AM to 10 PM daily. The office is open normal business hours. They auto deduct my rental fee each month using my credit card and that has always work well for me. Unfortunately, they have continued to raise my monthly rate every year. It started at $48 a month in 2007 and it's now reached $79 a month. It's now too expensive and I'm going to have to leave the unit this month and find other storage. Too bad because I enjoyed renting at this facility for the last 7 years. read more

Months ago I secured a decent Internet deal on a 10x20, I decided to move my storage from a distant cheaper unit to this location because it was closer to where we had to move due to Covid Fallout. Couple months later I rented a 2nd smaller unit due to more Covid Fallout. After doing all that in the dead of summer, the same month I rented the 2nd unit, I received notice stating due to market demand, they were raising my rent $60+ monthly on the 10x20. Wait, what?? Because I knew their Internet deals since I had just acquired the smaller 2nd unit as one. Not to mention demand ebbs and flows, clearly seen by paying attention to internet deals. I asked if they reduce my rent when they experience a high supply of units, thus offering lower Internet deals. NO!! This is a classic Bait And Switch business practice. Neither ethical, moral, or legal in many cases. This storage facility loopholes it by offering Internet deals with leases with small print. The intention is to bury the price increase (yet never a decrease). Due to health issues, I wasn't able to move storage again until now. For the past several days, I've been attempting to call the office to ask about how much notice they need for me to leave before my next billing date in days. It's been impossible for me to get passed their instant verification of my phone number which immediately prompts payment info and options along those lines. Pressing 2 then 5 is supposed to be how you speak to someone in the store, yet pressing 5 starts the whole payment shtick again. This experience is a departure from previous events. In the past, before it automatically verified my phone number, I could actually leave a message and the women in the office were very quick to get back, thankfully. Historically, the norm is to leave a message, then get a return call (plan on this type as it wastes time if you're in need of immediate answers). My other 10x20 I've had for years. I work out of it, travel out of it, and pay on time monthly, yet it's a 30 minute drive. I never experienced a price increase. Not once. The area it's in is higher end than this location. Had to be put on a waiting list to secure a 10x20 at my old facility. Years after my first time renting there, want to know what the price increase was? ZERO. I pay the exact same price as when I began many years ago, in a much higher end area than 32nd and Shea. Much safer too. Meanwhile, at Extra Space Storage I was fleeced within 3 months of an exorbitant monthly increase (33%). The only positive about this location is the women in the office are awesome!! They need to be praised!! Other than that, Extra Space Storage utilizes predatory practices of the classic Bait And Switch. For this reason, I will never do business with this company ever again, anywhere in the state, or across the country. And they have many. Bait And Switch advertising practices were deemed illegal decades ago for a reason. While Extra Space Storage has exploited a technical loophole to practice such, Bait And Switch is immoral, unethical, totally shady, and completely wrong. They just found a loophole to exploit. I would never recommend the Extra Space Storage company, EVER. Make no mistake, Extra Space Storage employs Bait and Switch. read more

Positive first: The facility is well managed and very clean. NEGATIVE: This is my first storage experience, and this may be common practice, to raise fees after only 4 months! Four months is way too short a time. The onsite team stated, as though they say it all day long, " 'Our Management Office' decides when the rates go up, We have no control over rate increases. We send a 30day notice via POST CARD, it's small, you may have just thrown it away!" Not good business practice people. I think a rental rate should be good for a year, Period. Then...I was offered a deal to pay in full for a year...to keep my new increased rate. When I leave, a 30day notice is required, and the remainder of the year will be refunded to you. I understand this part, because that's normal rental policy. But not raising rates after only 4mos. As my father used to say, That's highway robbery! I am hopeful that ExtraSpace Storage will change their policy. Sincerely. It's not easy for ANYONE, to just pull their items our of storage, when a random increase happens. Storage is not random to the consumer, it's often necessary through a major life event that cannot be solved any other way. I'm done ranting now. I am hopeful, this will make a difference. read more

Facility on 32nd St in Phoenix, AZ is unscrupulous and unprofessional. After a long discussion with Ron about my storage needs, I received what seemed to be a fair quote. I later called back to confirm prior to my on site visit and all seemed fine. Upon my arrival, both Ron and his quote were mysteriously missing. After much convincing, the other guy decided to honor the still missing quote and Ron. I understand mistakes happen and chose to overlook their disorganization as the price and location was right for me. 7 days after I made a payment, I removed my stored items before the office opened. Ron called and, literally, LAUGHED at me for forfeiting 3 week's rent and refused to refund the difference. When I asked for his supervisor, manager, district manager, *anybody* who would talk to me, he gave me a customer service line that isn't in existence. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE GUYS! read more

It's a storage unit. Clean, easy to access from the 51 and have very reasonable rates. The people here are very friendly to work with such as when I lost my key and they happily cut it for me (after securely identifying me first through a number of checks). With many drive up units, easy to get in, get your stuff and get out with little hassle. read more

THEY HAVE TERMITES! Do not store your stuff here! I had my items in a 10 x 20 storage unit for almost exactly two years. The termites came up from a crack that ran along the right side of the storage unit and also from underneath the separating wall on the left side. They attacked several boxes and pieces of furniture. I called upon move out and asked for a call back. Terri did respond back promptly the next day (I called on a Sunday when the office is closed). However all she told me is that the insurance that you get through them only covers flood damage and not pest damage. She also said that they treat for termites, but only when the renter lets her know there are signs of termite activity. I did not see signs of termite activity because they attacked the bottoms of the box and the back (facing the wall) and bottom of my furniture. I feel sorry for the people who have storage on either side of my unit who are probably unaware they may also have termite damage. I have over $1000 in damaged furniture and Terri and Extra Space are unwilling to do anything at all about it. In fact she stated well my stuff has been in there 2 years almost like I should have expected a termite problem. So why was I moving out of the storage unit? I have had items in storage at this facility for over 2 years. Don't be dragged in by their initial low rates, they will raise them approximately EVERY 6 months. You can call in and request a one time freeze on the rate raise. They are banking on getting people into the storage facility and then hitting them with rate increases and they will be too lazy to move all their stuff out and into a new facility. I have rented storage units at places in the past and have never had any of the rate increase or termite issues. My mom had furniture in storage at Allstate Storage for 3+ years and never had any termite issues or rate issues. STAY AWAY! read more
