I will be leaving Public Storage specifically because of this location. I have been renting one of Public Storage's largest units for a few years now. I moved about 10 miles away from the area and so I make my payments at the 70th street location because it's closest to me. On at least three occasions, I have driven over there during office hours and found the office closed with no additional information for customers. When I've tried calling, there is no way to get through to anyone IN the office for customer service. Yesterday was the third and final straw as I drove over to pay my bill... office closed almost an hour early... no reason or information posted on the door for customers. Tried calling, no luck. Just get directed to their website. SO, today I make the trip again and tell them that I was there yesterday to make my payment, but they were closed, so here I am again today. The property manager said "Yes, I'm sorry, she left early and on the most important day of the month!" Then they tell me "so, it looks like there is a late fee..." I said "NO, I tried to make my payment and you weren't here to accept it when you should have been." They said "it's not your fault you couldn't pay since we closed early, but I'm not authorized to remove the charge." Again I objected and they had the nerve to tell me "well, we do have other locations you could have gone to." Seriously??? I told them/him "I know, but I didn't have time to get to a different location last night before 6pm. (I had to pick my dog up from the hospital.) So they said "I'll enter the "issue" to corporate to remove the charge." This is a PROPERTY MANAGER that has no authority to remove a charge?? "So I'm responsible for paying a $50 fine so that the office could leave early??? I have spent a lot of money renting from Public Storage, especially with the significant price increases, but no more! **Also worth noting, when I arrived at the office today, the manager was on a speaker call with a customer that was having an issue with the $1 deal offered by Public Storage. Of course I don't know the details of the customer's account, but the manager flat out lied and said "Well, I haven't had that deal here at my location for more than a month, so I'm sorry about that." When the customer asked about canceling and/or prorating their account since that deal wasn't actually available, the manager said "I'm sorry, there's no prorating and there's nothing I can do. You'll just have to pay for the month and cancel after that." I SAW THE $1 DEAL SIGN UPON ENTERING THE BUILDING TODAY! I was surprised at what I was hearing, so I went outside to double check after I heard him tell the customer they haven't had that deal in a while and YES... they DO have the $1 deal advertisement right on the front window! I said "you have a sign for the $1 deal right on your front window! You should take that down if you're not honoring it." They mumbled "we're required to keep that sign posted." Huh???
FALSE ADVERTISING, OPTIONAL HOURS OF OPERATION, NO CUSTOMER CARE. I'll be waiting to hear from corporate regarding their decision to refund the late fee I was cheated out of. I won't hold my breath. SHAMEFUL AND DISHONEST! read more
