Avoid This Location -- Dishonest Staff and Zero Accountability I had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life at the Public Storage on Becker Ln in Scottsdale, all thanks to an employee named Deja. As a professional locksmith, I lost the keys to my personal lock (purchased from Public Storage) and was verbally given permission by Deja to access my unit by picking or cutting the lock if needed. Despite my skill, the awkward placement made picking difficult, so I carefully cut one of the two latch holes -- not the door or the lock itself -- and gained access. The next day, I returned to find an overlock on my unit. Deja now accused me of "vandalizing" the latch, charged me $95 in "damages," and told me I had to vacate the unit. This, despite her having authorized the very action she now pretended never happened. She clearly overstepped, and when it backfired, she twisted the story to protect herself. When I calmly returned to dispute the charge and remind her of her own words, she changed the subject and played the "you made me uncomfortable" card -- a tired, baseless excuse to deflect accountability. If I had truly been aggressive or threatening, why wasn't security involved? Why wasn't a report filed? Why not pull the security footage? Because she was lying. Corporate and the district manager were no help -- they blindly took Deja's side and justified the $95 fee by claiming the latch was replaced. That was a lie. When I returned to vacate the unit (as ordered), the original latch was still there and fully functional. No repair was ever done. To add insult to injury, my access code had been disabled -- an hour before closing -- until corporate gave me a new one. More petty behavior, likely designed to block me from discovering that no repairs had been made. This experience made it painfully clear: this location enables unprofessional behavior, protects dishonest staff, and punishes customers who speak up. Deja showed zero integrity, and her management backed her lies instead of investigating the facts. If you value transparency, professionalism, and basic fairness -- avoid this place at all costs. **A footnote regarding the ridiculous 5 star reviews on this page: I'm sure all these customers just couldn't wait to get out their phones and leave shining all star reviews for this person, Deja, and every customer amazingly and coincidentally made sure to mention her by name in every single 5 star review. Either she is the single greatest customer service agent in the history of customer service or these customers all received a discount of some kind in exchange for leaving a positive 5 star review and including Dejas name. I'm not going to give my opinion on which scenario is the correct one, but I'll leave it up to you, the reader, to decide. I'm sure you'll come to the correct conclusion just as I did. Its a violation of Yelp TOS to give discounts or compensation of any kind in exchange for positive reviews, but that's okay, you can see in every bought review, again her DM replies and backs her shady practices. Hello, I am updating my review after being here over a year with this particular Public Storage located 6875 E Becker Lane, Scottsdale, Arizona 85254 Since, I have had a decent amount of time to review the pros and cons of this property I am able to offer an expanded view of what it is like to rent here. CONS: The safety/security of building is high risk of crime activity and the internal building/storage unit is dilapidated. I have documented several experiences were substance abusers visit/utilize this facility for their exchanges and usage. Inside the storage unit there access to your neighboring unit as the sheets of metal dividers are not properly secured. The neighboring unit can access your unit. The bathroom facility is if not always out of order then it is unsanitary for use to the Public Storage customer. Public Storage ( East Becker Lane location) has raised the rent approx. 3 X within less than a year since initially moving into the property. The on-site property management guests on several occasions have almost crashed into my vehicle me turning onto the Public Storage road from their consistent erratic driving. The constant construction lasting during operational hours prevents a customer from safely accessing the storage unit. *I will be back to further review the property. read more

I had reserved a 5' x 5' unit online before going to the location (Becker Lane, Scottsdale, AZ). When I got there, Charlie said they didn't have any of those particular units available. After some consideration and effort, she got me into a 5' x 10' for the same price! Charlie was patient, persistent, and professional, all of which really helped in this situation. On 6/15 I set out in online to get a storage unit, got a call from public storage to set an appointment up made the appointment for 5:30. I got to the public storage at 5:15 or earlier and no one was there. I at 5:25 I start calling the place to try to figure out where the person that called to make the appointment was. Like why would you call and confirm my appointment for 5:30 and have no one there. I called probably about 15 times or more. Then called the 1800 number for customer service because I needed a unit that night as I was moving a couch from a unit in that place to a different unit. They were able to get me one that I pay for online. Unfortunately that one was too small to let the couch make the turn. I then call customer service back again asking for a refund, they said they could vacate me from the property I need to go leave my lock and then call the property first thing in the morning. I do exactly what they tell me to do. Left the lock and called and called and called, left voicemails and never got a call back. On 6/20 I get a call from someone going through the units wondering if I am going to need my unit. Obviously this person never listened to a voicemail that I left. I said no I have been vacated by customer service I left my lock and was told I would get a refund for the unit and lock just not the admin fee. She said okay she will vacate me and it could take 4 weeks to see that refund. Well it has been 4 weeks, only refunded for the lock. So I called on 7/20 to see why I haven't seen that refund. Customer service goes it looks like the place vacated you on 6/20 which is outside the window. That is incorrect I should've been vacated on 6/15 which is in the window for a refund. And she will have to get her supervisor involved, I am demanding my refund from you and not just for the unit I want everything back the admin fees and unit. You have created more of a headache and I would never rent a storage unit from a public storage ever. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Unless you want to deal with a headache of a company. My storage unit #C353 leaked in November. I reported the issue to management on November 24th and filed an insurance claim the same week. In order to complete the insurance claim, insurance requested an explanation of why the roof leaked and what's been done to fix it. The insurance rep and I have requested this information from the site manager (Porshia), the District Manager (Alex Felix) and the General Manager (Sharon Dallman) over 20 Times since November. It's now February! Management is VERY difficult to work with. They don't respond to calls, voicemails or emails and they are unwilling to offer an explanation of what actually happened. At first they blamed the water damage on a missing bolt in an exterior sign. Please note in the pictures, the exterior sign is below the roof line and unit C353 is on the top floor. If water came from a missing sign bolt, it traveled in the wall, up the wall and across the ceiling to the center of the unit. Not likely!! This was a bogus 100% false explanation. Next Alex said that they don't know what truly caused the leak and that the roof had been looked at and repaired however he was not willing to provide a report (or ANY written documentation) from the roofer who "repaired" it or anyone else. Getting anything in writing is impossible. How do you fix something if you're not sure what was broken? Also, if it was truly fixed, why is that a secret? An experienced licensed roofer will be able to find the leak, fix it and offer a professional opinion on what happened. That's all we've been asking for. So far Alex and everyone at Public Storage have been unwilling to provide any documentation showing that the roof has been properly looked at and repaired. It's shameful! In addition to property damage, as of February 8, 2018 the inside of the unit has not been repaired (even though Alex said it was fixed) and management has still not confirmed whether the leaky roof was actually fixed. If not repaired, water damage can lead to mold and fungus which cause serious environmental and health hazards. This is a serious health risk that anyone entering or storing property at this location should be aware of. Especially if your unit is close to C353. It's the unit with the red lock on it. The unit should be repaired, any mold should be removed by a professional and air quality testing should be done for the safety of everyone entering or storing property at this location. Again, I notified Public Storage of this leak on November 24. They have had over two months to fix the leak, repair the damage and prevent further property damage and potential health hazards. If further damage and/or health issues are caused by the non-responsive inaction of the management at this location, I believe Public Storage should be responsible. Why should insurance pay for something that Alex/Public Storage could have easily prevented? If there is a known issue, Public Storage has an obligation to act in order to prevent further damage. This is specifically for anyone storing property near unit C353. That's where my leak was. Check your stuff. If damaged between November and now, Public Storage had an opportunity to prevent it and instead they ignored it. Everyone storing property at this location should be aware of how management operates in case you need to file a claim or work with them in any capacity. You should also know that there are potentially serious health and environmental hazards from water damage which will only get worse until the roof is properly repaired. read more

I had the worlds worst experience at the location up the street and last minute had to change to this location. I was rightfully more than angry going into it. Poor Jess was patient and kind as I yelled about how angry I was. Fast forward to a week later, I forgot a ton of stuff outside before leaving and rather than throwing it away, Jess held it at no charge in a spare unit. Again, she was patient and kind. I ended up in the hospital for 3 weeks total and losing my job, having to have a lock put on my unit. Again. She was patient and kind and understanding. Although she was unable to bend rules or timelines, she stuck to policy about everything but was simply so kind through it all. I don't know if I would have been so understanding and patient to someone like me. She was literally an angel in the month that I became homeless and had to use the storage unit. When my world was falling apart around me, she kept me calm in one respect that I didn't lose my things. She was clear and kind with what dates I needed to have my belongings out in order to avoid having to pay another month because she knew I was struggling financially. God made me not be able to use the other location for a reason, so I could have a little bit of patience and kindness in a 3 month period of absolute despair. Thank you Jess. If it were up to me I would give them ZERO stars, but you can't. I've never used a storage facility and now I will never use one again. I would never recommend this particular facility or any of the facilities that are run by their area director. Before we moved into our home we needed to store our stuff for a month while we were out of state. We were never told that we needed to provide proof of insurance and to bring a lock (we assumed the lock was part of the price since we weren't told otherwise). If I had been told these things I would have provided them, because I have them, BOTH. But no, I had to pay for both, which ended up costing me (we were on a tight moving budget) more than we had anticipated. When I question GLENDA about the insurance thing she said there was no way around it and insisted that I HAD to get their insurance...mind you I have my own and would prefer not to spend more money on something I already pay for. --Later when I spoke with the area manager/director, Greg Karr, he told me that I could sign a form stating that I didn't want their insurance. Well THAT would have been nice to know when I was speaking with Glenda, who assured me there was not another option... But yet I was still being charged for it and it couldn't come off until I signed the waiver, which I get. Except I was out of town and wasn't coming back for a whole month, we weren't by another Public Storage to sign this waiver, and he couldn't email it to me. So, Glenda screwed us over. Greg told me a story about how a pipe had burst and someones belongings were damaged and since then poor, innocent Glenda worries over her customers and their belongings, Bull! Tell me that, don't outright LIE to me Glenda!--and then deny ever lying to me. He also said that some customers like to get their insurance because then their personal insurance doesn't take a hit. I was willing to take that hit, don't MAKE my decision for me by not giving me my options! As we packed up our truck to leave this Public Storage facility there was a gentleman who was also loading up a truck with his belongings. He was irate with Glenda AND Greg as well. His unit door was broken and they were unwilling to help him resolve the issue. He offered to stay there as long as he could get another unit to put his stuff in while they fixed the door. They turned him down for that. They turned around this mans good money, because they didn't want to deal with what exactly? How sad of a company you are when your customer service is crap. It seems like the only customer service these people know how to handle and deal with is one that doesn't involve a problem or issue of some sort. Overall super disappointed. My sister currently has her stuff there and we are pulling it out in the next month. This place is horrible! read more
