She recognized us as the new renters on move in day and has been the only staff member we've interacted with because she is truly always there and attentive. We got an amazing deal on our 5'x10' climate controlled unit. It is only $38 per month, compared to the $80 per month I was paying at another facility for the same size and climate control. The application process was quick and easy, and we felt we got great value right from the start. I was overcharged and had a really bad experience with this rental. Customer service was impossible to reach. The unit itself was not secure and had an additional door that didn't come with a padlock. I was not made aware of this prior to renting and never even stored anything for my very short time attempting to use this service. It did not feel secure. I was also charged a full month's rent for September when I "moved out" on the 3rd. I was told I would receive a prorated rate and then had my account zeroed out after I paid the entire month. I got a storage unit here and set up my account online. I've been here twice now to get a key from the office DURING BUSINESS HOURS and no one is ever there!! I try calling to get ahold of the property manager and no luck getting anyone on the phone. I have no idea how I'm supposed to get access to my unit. I don't recommend. read more

I was moving apartments and needs a storage unit. There were many options to choose from, but I am glad I came here. The only thing I'm not a fan of is that the hours are a M-F 9:30pm til 6pm and weekends 9:30am til 5pm. But that's okay. However Sandy was the one that helped me find the perfect unit for me, she was so friendly to me and kind, we held a great conversation and she was more than helpful! I've stored my stuff for a year and a half and I TRUST this place completely. I had a bad experience with a moving company that ended up taking my stuff without my knowledge while I was states away (I canceled the move and they took my stuff anyways. Public storage actually was the one that let me know because I wouldn't have known otherwise). The staff here was able to give me all the information I needed and beyond that-- Shawnan was able to put a new lock on my unit for free and watched movers put my stuff back to make sure they didn't keep certain items. SHAWNAN is amazing and the management here ROCKS! When I got back to move my stuff myself, they made sure I had everything I needed and always went above and beyond. THANK YOU ANNALISE!! She was so amazing and helpful and they made this stressful part of my move easy. RENTERS BEWARE!!!! This located is in a VERY bad area. We showed up in the early evening to move our daughter's college stuff out and that was a HUGE mistake! Suspicious drug/prostitution activity happening in parking lot. Homeless people living "INSIDE" the gate!!!Hallway was filthy with dirty diapers, garbage. The halls and elevator smelled like urine. We also saw a man that appeared to be stealing things out of a unit. We felt so unsafe we left and came back in morning. In morning, parking lot was still full of homeless people that were obviously on drugs. We went into office to file a complaint and the office manager was not surprised!!! He told us this was not a good location and to stay away from homeless because they're very aggressive! With that all said...I WOULD NOT RENT AT THIS LOCATION!!!!!! read more

Cannot protect your belongings. I received a call that the lock was missing from my basement unit. When I inspected it I found valuables set aside, broken drug paraphernalia, and a bucket containing human feces. When asked what I could do, the clerk suggested I take valuable items back with me (why do I have a storage unit?), and add another lock to be a "less enticing a target". They then suggested I make a claim through their insurance agency and file a police report because they do not review security footage unless the police request it. The message I received is that I should store my belongings elsewhere because they cannot prevent someone from breaking in. read more

After learning over 30 units were broken into at one time by the same person and OnSite Property Management didn't even know is enough of a RED flag to not use Public Storage. They are also the most expensive storage company to use. Most locations are old and outdated, the customers and employees deserve better. read more

The deal was good, the location is okay, the actual storage unit is filthy, and the wall was caving in so it gave me less space to actually put my stuff. The manager I dealt with while signing up was great. She was super nice and helpful. The facility itself is not great. Looks old, smells old and it's dark and dingy. The price was decent though. After renting for 4 months, THEY'RE RAISING RENT BY OVER 30%!!!!! That is a lot. Is this why we don't have to sign a contract? The people that work here are mostly really nice, but I have been renting here since 05/01/2020 and on 12/28/22 I came to my unit to grab something and my key was not working on the lock. The office was closed at this time so I came back today (01/05/23) and again my key was not working on my unit. After showing the employee it wasn't working he stated I needed to call a locksmith to open it and it would cost $70. Frustrated I did and once we got in my unit I noticed my stuff was stolen. I called the police and filed a claim but what really frustrates me is that they will not give me my money back for this month and last month. Part of what I pay monthly for is the security that my stuff is safe and they failed that. I just paid this months rent today and I should've waited but I want my money back. This is my first experience with a storage locker. I was told by some people that it would be a waste to use one, but I was happy that there was an available unit. In March, I was pleasantly greeted when I entered and was shown what I needed to do to enter. I was impressed by how much security there appeared to be on the lot which differed from my opinion beforehand. The price of the unit over the few months I had it seemed a bit steep, but I continued to pay. On June 2nd I was informed that the unit next to mine appeared to have someone break into it and that there was evidence they were trying to get into mine. I was informed they did not appear to take anything, but I could check and see. Part of the reason I had the storage unit was due to a travelling position that I have so I was not able to check. I had my friend check and she said it all appeared to be there. I spoke with the district Manager Les (I believe) and asked for reassurance. One of the things I asked for was the June fee to be waived. I thought that was fair due to a potential break in. I was told that's never been done before and won't happen now. That seemed totally unreasonable to me just because something had never been done. He offered to change units but I informed him that I did not have the capability to do so because of my job and that it was the principle of the subject. I did not get a resolution on my end except an agreement to honor my request of patching the hole up. In late July I had already thought of moving out of my unit for several reasons, but then I received an email saying there would be an increase in price. I decided that at this time I would leave. I had called on August 7th and asked about move out protocol. I was told that there was none and that they would know I moved out after their daily checks. I asked about a prorated month since I would be moving out on the 9th and did not want to pay for the days after. I was told that they don't do that and would have to pay for the whole month. I also asked about the repairs to my unit. I was informed that the work order was still out. I said its been 2 months and was met with a response of "Covid." I said I understood if it had been 2 weeks or even a month, but 2 months is ridiculous. When I moved out on the 9th and opened my unit I saw it was worse than I thought. The lights were also completely out so I had to use my phone light. The walls were completely pushed in and there was a huge hole. During my move out one of the pieces fell on my head. Thankfully I wasn't seriously injured but who's to know what could've happened since the whole time I had thought it was fixed. There was no one in the office that day despite stating there would be, so I could not share my experience. I called the office to speak with the manager on Monday and had to leave a voicemail. I decided to call the corporate office on Tuesday due to thinking it could only be resolved at that level. I had to leave another voicemail. I called again on Wednesday for another voicemail. I saw a call coming in on Thursday the 13th, but could not answer at the time. It was a voicemail from the manager of the lot. I called corporate again on Friday the 14th and left a voicemail. The manager of this Lot Kristen called me saying she was returning the call on behalf of the regional manager. I asked if I could have a reimbursement for this month due to the wall falling. She said that would not happen. She asked if I sought medical treatment and I told her I didn't. She staid that she could elevate this to their risk team, but it would probably not result in anything due to there being no medical report. I said I would still like to receive a call despite that possible outcome. It is 2 weeks later and I still have yet to receive a call. This disheartens my experience and I don't feel as though I asked for much. I will never return back to this lot and most likely a public storage unit again. read more

The staff here go above and beyond. I highly recommend this location for storage purposes. The guy was extremely helpful and walked me through the process of getting a unit without any problems. He handled other customers before me to ensure that he could provide his full attention to my storage needs. All together it was $25 just as my reservation said! Great customer service! read more

PLEASE DO NOT RENT PUBLIC STORAGE Unfortunately I am taking the time to write this REVIEW in regards to my unit and the poor customer service I feel I was given and the extra expenses Public Storage employee(s) Tiffany at 4034 E McDowell Rd. Phoenix AZ. 85008 caused over her negligence to do her job. First of when I started service on Sept 14th. 2018 I needed the smallest unit(5x5) I was told $1 special for the first month was a great offer of course not assuming they sold me into buying their kind of lock for about $30 because supposedly they're hard to find elsewhere and while I needed the unit I pretty much had no choice. Then I fell behind on my due date which storages normally will put another lock to stop you from leaving without paying, I then go pay my fees on 11/21 and Tiffany mentioned she wouldn't be able to remove the lock right there and then I said it was ok I was using unit in that specific moment but expecting the lock to be removed later on that day or at least by the end of the day. I went ahead and utilized the morning of Thanksgiving(access to units is available) to go rent a uhaul and go and remove my stuff...what do I run into??? Their lock was still there and I am stuck with a day of uhaul truck fees which are not cheap, and their office is closed because of the holiday soooooo I kept the truck for an additional day, go into the office and once again speak to Tiffany demanding some sort of credit due to her "forgetfulness" she proceeds to say the system must have had a glitch because it never advised her of their lock removal, partially apologizing said she was going to let her manager know who by the way once also told me I was getting the "best price deal in town" ha! $82 for a 5x10 Really???? Anyways! I am very customer service oriented (been in it for over 25 years) and when I'm given poor c.s I just have to let the world know, customers deserve good treatment even if sometimes they're not the nicest(they'll have their karma if so) P.S. today is Dec 8th and I have not heard ANYTHING from Public Storage "Manager" nor Corporate Headquarters as I also gave my complaint. At this point is not even the ninety compensation but a genuine acknowledgement. Thank you and I do apologize for the time I was wasted writing this. read more

I'm in the process of moving some items from a Public Storage unit in Tucson to this Unit in Phoenix. The differences could not be more stark. The facility in Tucson is well maintained, clean, and free of trash and refuse. This facility is filthy. They allow homeless to come on the property to rummage through the trash. I signed because I'm in a bit of a bind for space but will likely cancel or relocate within the month. read more

I logged in and to my horror saw that their system did not process it. I then scheduled another move out date - same problem. To call this place a dive would be a massive overstatement. The property is clearly not maintained. There is bird crap everywhere. The trash area has been overflowing each time I've been at the property. The so-called elevator is really only a lift that must be operated from outside the lift and I question the safety of their system. The manager is also a total waste. And to top it all off, they do NOT pro-rate your closeout of your unit. They have no problem with a pro-rata adjustment when you move in, so you only pay for the days you are there. But, they refuse the pro-rata adjustment when you move out. I STRONGLY suggest looking at other storage operators as this one is just nasty.... from the appearance, to the cleanliness, to the management! There are much better options than this pigsty! read more

there is an episode of seinfeld where they are trying to rent a car but the rental car company didn't have any to rent. the joke was "they know how to take a reservation, they just don't know how to hold the reservation." i had the same problem with these goof balls. made a reservation, but they had no units that matched my reservation and they had no upgrades available. when i asked why they take reservations when they had no available units, the rocket scientist behind the desk told me that it "reserved" my pricing. pricing for what? there was no unit available. they had a sign that said they want their customers to be 100% satisfied and it offered the phone number of the district manager. i called to vent, but no response. so much for 100% satisfaction. they referred me to another public storage on 24th st and offered that it was much nicer than the one on mcdowell, but the price for the same size unit on 24th st was $40/mo higher. at least it was until i went outside and reserved a unit on-line for a 25% discount. read more
