I must say that this location is going to be my absolute super duper number one U-Haul from now on! Sadly, I'd originally reserved a moving truck at a different location closer to me (4240 W Camelback Rd | Phoenix, AZ 85019) for the sake of convenience. However upon visiting that location (on 43rd Camelback) I was completely dismayed as their staff was beyond rude, unfriendly, unaccountable, and overall unprofessional. It left a very bad impression on me; thus I contacted Customer Service to modify my pickup to another store. Luckily, the CSR I spoke with was able to complete a reservation which fit my moving needs for a 20ft truck on 26th Street & Indian School! Preemptively, I arrived one day prior to my reservation just to check in and make sure everything was all set for my moving day. It was then that a member of staff named "Jimmy" kindly greeted me and assisted with any/all concerns I had for my pickup day!!! Jimmy was friendly, most patient, gave excellent recommendations for movingly supplies and assured everything was set to go smoothly for my rental! I arrived the next day and was helped by two additional gentlemen who sufficiently checked me in for my truck rental. They were so concise and professional when informing me of all safety apparatus entailed with my rental! And to top that the 20Ft truck they supplied for my reservation was immaculate--seriously the cleanest UHaul I've ever rented! I feel so bad though because I (regretfully) didn't get to note either of their names to ensure proper credit could be received for their all of their hard work! Thank you all so much again! If I could give a 0 star I would. I actually have no tolerance for stupidity, this one is a story for the ages. I rented a truck to move a client. Halfway through the move, I began getting texts from the U-Haul location saying that I had to return the truck immediately. I stopped what I was doing and returned it. Upon arrival I was met by two men. The one man asked to just renew the truck. While the other gave me directions about where to move the truck to to drop it off. I did. So, I finally get my receipt showing they never checked it back in, charging me another days rental. Sure enough the employee let a friend use it and the employee figured out that it was going to be found out what he had done. Here are the screenshots from him and the way he tried to get me to meet him to gI've me money to save his butt. The gm, said pretty much the employee and old never do that. I had to laugh. He said that I didn't even return the truck, but he saw his other employees helping me close the read gate and secure it. I stopped in to pick up a mattress bag I had purchased online and I also rented a 10' truck to move apartments. When I picked up the mattress bag they were having internet issues, but as I had prepaid for the bag online I don't think I should have had to wait for over 20 minutes. I also booked the truck online for mobile pickup in hopes of having a smoother process but that was not the case. There's no point to mobile pickup when I still had to go inside to talk to the employees four times. They had my truck parked in the wrong spot - it was in the back instead of the front. And then it was also blocked by another truck. And then the license plate number didn't match the mobile inspection. It took much longer for me to pick up this truck then it should have. I'm terribly disappointed in this U-Haul location. I needed to pick up a trailer for a golf cart. Staff made the reservation I went and got my father, his truck, and called the man that I was buying the golf cart from that I was on my way. I got to the location to pick it up and they informed me I would not be able to rent the small trailer because I had a jeep. It was a super small trailer and no issue for a jeep. Upon walking into the location in Merced, CA - customer service was great. The store employee was helpful in finding a truck and trailer to haul a vehicle. We waited over an hour but that's because the employee really desired to find us exactly what we needed. He called around and within 24 hours we were able to pick up both truck and tow trailer. Only gripe is the tow trailer we were recommended based on the type of vehicle we were towing seemed a bit more narrow than the width of the vehicles wheels so it was a challenge. 1 star removed beyond this. Nevertheless, the move was great and no further expenses were needed. Best part is we were able to utilize the reservation number to get 1st months rent off of a Uhaul storage unit in the state where the move was taking place. Definitely recommend this place, especially when the manager is there. She gets the guys in check and makes sure they do their job properly as in our case. Two thumbs up and 4 stars read more

From the time we walked in, greeted us with a smile. He was very courteous, professional and created an easy and seamless experience from start to finish. Avoid this location. I have rented several times from U-Haul and have never experienced anything like I did from this place. I reserved a truck online so I could - naturally - move stuff. When I arrived at the location, a man with longer hair told me I was unable to rent that truck and take it out of town. (Online it said I was able.) He tried to upsell me into another truck instead, which was not what I wanted or needed since my haul wasn't much. I declined and argued with him about the rental, then when he still refused to give me the truck, I called customer service. After speaking with them and proving my point, he finally let me rent the truck since it was within their policies. I rented the truck for 3 days and scheduled to have it brought back at the same exact location. On 2 separate occasions the truck didn't crank, and it had several lights on the dashboard (including it needed an oil change from the moment I pulled out of the store). I called customer service to let them know about all the lights and the service it needed, as well as that it didn't crank on 2 occasions. When I took the truck back, I parked it next to a sign that said something along the lines "wait here with your rental truck and someone will come by to assist you". It was the spot to park the truck and wait for someone to come by and talk to me about dropping it off. Someone else pulled behind me. Both of us waited for over 20 minutes for someone. The people behind me got fed up and walked in the store. Then someone decided to come out and ask about the trucks. Everything about this place is ridiculous. I called customer service about all their charges, the $90 gasoline charge for not even half a tank's worth of gas, the unacceptable service at the location I rented from, the truck's poor performance, etc. I was supposed to receive a call or email from the manager within 3 business days of calling customer support about these issues. No one contacted me. I called today and found out the manager documented there were no issues with the truck and that he was denying me any reimbursement or compensation that I requested. I had to call to find this out. I just reopened the dispute and will be talking to someone in a higher position. I will also be disputing any U-Haul charge with my bank for the incompetence and inconveniences. read more

Rented a storage box with a move to Minnesota. Was informed from the Phoenix U-Haul on Indian School Rd that they would transport to unit to Minnesota and store the unit until I need it. Asked to confirm that they transported to my hometown location before agreeing to services. Was informed they do. Called to have unit moved to my hometown only to be told they don't service that location that I would have to go to the facility and unload the box there and move my belongings. Condescending person on the phone stated they are not obligated to what other states agree to what U haul will do. Don't use U-Haul. Very poor costumer service. The worst. Most unprofessional so called help I have ever come across. I went to rent a trailer to tow a car and was told no because I would burn up the wheel bearings by towing it empty for a few miles to pick up the car. He then told me not to try to change my story and lie about my destination and to just get out. I think it had more to do with the time and day it was late Friday afternoon I don't think he wanted to do the work, so since then I make sure not to bring any work that way and let everyone else know to avoid this place, because when I needed help I was treated like a nuisance. Returned my uhaul to this location after a cross country move. The employee helping me was rude, not helpful and just left me standing in the middle of the drive with no explanation. I was charged for an extra day despite being on time. The employee completely ignored my question (and anything I said really) and I had to follow him into the office to ask if I was cleared to leave. Corporate did refund the extra day after I called. I am simply clueless when it comes to moving and packing so I am thankful U-Haul is here to save the day. After 11 long years of living in the same place I decided to make the big move. Not realizing what I got myself into I stopped by this U-Haul location to pick up the packing supply. Like a deer in headlights the staff at this location was quick to help me identify the right items for my needs. The location is very organized with prices visibly seen throughout the store. No hidden gimmicks all clearly labeled for any customer to understand. I was able to get moving boxes of all sizes, tape, tape gun, packing protection and much more. I needed basically everything except for the moving truck. The guys helped me load my car and thanked me for my purchase. I did have to return to grab so more supplies since I have seem to acquire more than I had ever imagined. My second and third trip back was the same great experience with a different set of staff each time. Superior experience at this U-Haul location. read more

Recently I rented from this location of U Haul. There was some confusion among the employees as to what vehicles have what kind of ramps, meaning I had to return a vehicle for another, so can't give them five stars as a whole. I do want to give Sean McGiven, the mgr, five stars for his part. He went out of his way to make it a great experience for me, not charging me for something that had to be done when he had every right to do so. Thank you, Mr. McGiven. Would I go back to this location, definitely. They may not be perfect when it comes to staff, but the manager makes it worthwhile to do so. He's working at correcting the little mistakes that can happen. The worst experience I have ever had. Not only did my car break down and I had to use this compnay to tow my vehicle, they also over charged me and refused to refund me. Rented a 14' truck and tow dolly from this location last month when I moved from Phoenix to Austin and received phenomenal service from the manager, Mr. Chris West. He was quick, courteous and hilarious. Seriously, this guy should be on like Comedy Central Presents or something.. that show's still on, isn't it? I don't don't know, haven't had cable in years. For my own moves, I have rented cargo and utility trailers. I've also purchased wares from the front office. Nice people, no issues there. But the dude rented me a lemon. I drove 800 miles one way with a shitbox that kept bucking most of the drive. A bit distressing having a truck full of stuff wondering if you will break down. Imagine the nightmare that would be?! So, if you are going to go on a one way drive, I would recommend taking it on the highway for a 15 minute ride one way and then back giving you 30 min on the road so you know if it has issues. My feeling is that these people get rid of their "problem trucks" for the one way trips. They'll never see you again and have to deal with it, and they get rid of a problem. I needed a truck to pickup a tv from bestbuy- the total trip was less than 3 miles and I used the truck for less than 2 hours.. okay when I initially got the truck, it had no fuel (fuel light was on) and was told by the worker if I put the fuel myself I would be reimbursed. I spent almost $60 to fill the tank- did not get reimbursed and tried to reach out via email and nobody ever helped me. This should've costed me less than $20-$30 but instead I got charged plus never got reimbursed for the fuel. read more

As a warning to all. Even after sending this email below I have not been contacted by anyone at uhaul. Definitely know what to look for before driving off this lot. Hello, I just wanted to make you aware of my experience. We arrived at our appointment time to get our 4x8 trailer. We purchased a hitch ball on site and when I had replaced the order I had also purchased 12 furniture pads. Let me start by saying I never received the furniture pads but was charged for them. Next, the gentleman installed the trailer and sent us on or way. However 4 blocks down the road the trailer came unhitched!!! It was right before we the highway and could have been catastrophic. By some miracle we avoided an accident and were able to pull off. After inspection it appears it was not installed properly despite the fact it was installed by uhaul. The only thing holding the trailer to the vehicle was the chains! When I called the store all they did was transfer me to road side assistance where I was put on hold forever, at which point I disconnected the call. My husband locked it properly and we came home. We called uhaul multiple times and were told someone would come pick it up and we would receive a call from the manager. Someone did eventually come pick up the trailer and after calling for the 7th time today we were told we were refunded our money. However we still have not spoke with a manager. I wanted to share my disappointment with this store and employees. I am also going to have to have to have the underside of my vehicle repaired where the trailer ended up hitting. read more

One would think that when you explain that you need a truck w a ramp because you're moving appliances - and specifically ask for the 15ft truck - that's what you'd get. Nope! Got a 10 footer w no ramp. Unforgivable, especially since it was the Owner who checked me out! Not only that, but then I was being charged for a 2-day rental upon return. Thank God for Alexander. He was sensitive to the situation, calm in his demeanor and quite efficient in resolving these issues. Rented a 5x8 Uhaul from this location. One of the wheels on the unit nearly came off during a cross country trip. Had my whole family in the car. After waiting two hours for the Uhaul roadside assistance and 5 hours for the trailer to actually be fixed Uhaul and this location were willing to refund me $100.00 dollars of a 400.00 rental. Putting my family in danger and nearly causing an accident that could have been catastrophic got us a hotel room covered an 100.00 off the rental??? The person I spoke to on the phone sounded like he could care less. Triple check anything you rent from UHAUL. As a company they could care less also. I recently rented a truck from this location, reserving it over the phone. When I asked the woman on the phone if I needed a credit card to rent the truck she informed me that I didn't that I could use cash. What she neglected to mention was that I needed to have a $100 cash deposit, which in itself wasn't a problem. Problem was I had to go back home to get it and that wasted my time. It would have been nice to know that in advance. I was all over their website and I didn't see anything about it on there. While renting the truck no one took us out to go over the truck for previous damage together or check the amount of gas in the truck. The person waiting on us said this is how much gas is in the truck , bring it back the same. Then he went to get the truck and handed us the keys and went back inside. We noticed right away that the gas was less then he had put down so I went right back in and brought it to his attention. He didn't come out to look, just said ok I will put it in your agreement. When they had me sign that I was declining their insurance he didn't show me the back of that paper. It was only after I got home that I saw the back . It described damage "corner cap is torn with a temporary aluminum tape repair. Customer accepts the risk of water damage." This was never mentioned, never pointed out to me. He never turned that paper over when I signed the insurance decline and had me sign or initial that side. Never showed it to me. And I did have to return the truck a little earlier the next day then the time i rented it out which didn't really give me the full 24 hours. But it was close. The good side was that we weren't over charged. The bill came out to about what I had it calculated at. And I had left my sunglasses on their counter and when my friend returned the truck the next day asked if they had found them and they had them and so I got them back. read more

I got a U Box here at this store and the folks here were always very attentive and polite. I was moving from Phoenix to FL and opted to fill the U Box on their lot instead of towing it to our apartment. It took us about 2 weeks and 6 visits to fill the container by driving our belongings to the U Box. It was placed in the back of their lot under a covered area with other U Boxes. Each time we needed access to it, we just called to ask to have it pulled out. When we finished for the day, they placed it with the door against other U Boxes to keep it safe since the covered area wasn't secured (besides fencing). I felt pretty safe here and had no issues. The folks here were very quick to get the box out when I called and they put it away when we were finished. We found the U Box to be the most inexpensive way to move across country, so far. The total was around $1400 for delivery to the nearest U Haul in our new FL location. An extra $140 or so to have it delivered from there to the house if we want, but we haven't decided on that yet. Bottom line on the Indian School and 26th St. U Haul location: Excellent service, safe location and easy access from 7am to 7pm. read more
