I had a terrible experience at a different location and have been hesitant when working with CubeSmart but I was very pleased with my experience there today. The prices always go up up up. That's the big draw back. But I think that's common for the storage spaces in the area. I have always found that the facility is clean and there is always a cart available to help me when I'm dropping stuff off. There is a foot entrance on Wabash, but if you go through the alley in the back-- there is a loading dock for a more substantial move/drop off. I will say, the alley entrance is often times messy but it may be more of an issue because it a public space.

Checked rates online and then drove up to look at the unit. There was a sign on the door saying the…read moreoffice will reopen at 2pm. So, we decided to go grab a quick lunch and return. We arrived at 2:20pm the sign was still up and no one was present at the office. We decided to hang out in the care and wait an additional 10-20 minutes. No one came. We decided (again) to leave and take care of some errands and come back in +/- 2 hours. Finally, upon returning someone was in the office (I believe her name was Shirley?). Very sweet woman, she showed us the unit and told us PS is offering $1 for the first month and a special monthly rate, and we said great, we'll take it. However, She "forgot" to mention that we would be charged an additional $20 or $30 for an administrative fee until after she signed us up. Still, the rate was OK. We also liked that we could supply our own locks. Overall, she was pleasant to deal with. She didn't go out of her way, but regardless, she was very professional. Why we left: PS kept raising our fees every year and trying to get a hold of someone to discuss this was an unachievable task. No one returned phone messages and no one replied to emails. (The inquiries were sent to the regional corporate office not this particular location - per Shirley's instructions). When we brought up these issues to Shirley again, she informed us she couldn't do anything and all complaints/issues had to go through corporate customer service. Again, we called and called and left messages. No one answered, no one called back. (By the way, we always paid our bill on time). So, we decided to leave this location and go elsewhere. We met with Shirley again (our last/move out day); she checked our unit and basically didn't offer anything (to make us rethink about moving). But within minutes of leaving the office, we received a call from corporate saying that if we'd stay with them they would give us a very special rate (what they originally quoted). And my reply was: you're calling now? After we have moved out our stuff? Ridiculous.

You have to write down the full Credit Card number, the expiration date, and even the CVV on what looks like a badly photocopied piece of paper. When we had to change the card on file, we had to actually go to the office and complete another dodgy looking form, rather do it online, securely, through a website or an app. Surely having to write down your entire Credit Card number with expiration date and CVV is not PCI compliant (and yet I did it anyway). Two, they raised our rate immediately after signing up and then they raised it again shortly after that. We hadn't even had the unit for one year. Our original rate was $47/month when we joined in May, in July it was raised to $59/month, and then in November it was $65/month. Three, we attempted to access our storage unit outside of office hours a few times but the pin pad to get into the building was broken more often than it worked. The last time we went, our car was full of stuff but couldn't get in (again). This was deal breaker for us. Other things that were annoying: there is no dedicated parking, only street parking. The office and lobby area wreak of cigarette smoke. The storage unit itself was fine, but the floor was unfinished. When we went to say we were moving out, there were no questions asked. Just a "what is your unit number?" and "sign here" and "here's your move out receipt". Like ok, bye?

The way I…read morenoticed it is when I got to my unit there was a different lock on my unit so I got management to cut the lock off and all of my stuff was gone . The bad thing of it is there's a camera right there and for some reason they say their cameras glitched out at the time that my stuff was stolen . After that they went up on my rent and then I went to pay my bill on the day of the due date which is the first and they charged me a late fee because it was after 5:00 when I did it over the phone .
