Got a debt collection letter in the mail a year after I moved out of this place. I settled all accounts and moved my stuff out without any dispute on payments at the time. Never heard a word from them on any money issues. These guys won't even let you store your stuff if you don't pay beforehand. If you are a day late, they double lock it until you pay. They have a month to month plan so it is actually not possible to owe them money unless they are holding your belongings hostage. They will eventually sell off your belongings to get their money back. Obviously I got all my belongs and walked out the door with a cordial goodbye from their staff at the time. So it bewilders me how they possibly have an overdue account that they issued to collections from me. EDIT: I contacted them at their info email address and they said they have a new debt collection company and that this was a mistake. I had a good experience with this company in terms of customer service other than this flub. I don't expect to get any more letters about this issue so it should be resolved. read more

Clear voice of dissent here. This establishment is notorious for price gouging. I have been a customer of this establishment for 20+ years. They were previously owned by Canal Street Storage. During my run with CSS they were accommodating and professional. Not the story with Devon SS. When we took ownership (I believe 5+ years ago) they immediately raised my rate and would not negotiate a loyalty or senior's discount. Since this management takeover my rent has increased 42%! When I initially challenged them I was told they could get a lot more for my unit if offered at current rates. This was their way of bringing me into closer parity with other paying customers. How's that for customer fidelity. Punish the customers who have longevity. The facilities are adequate. Hardly premium for what they are charging me. read more

Burglars and thieves at this location. In October 2024 I stored three full storage boxes of shoes in my assigned storage unit with the high security lock provided by the storage facility. The second week of December the shoes were in the storage locker. I arrived in January 2025 to find some one crawled over the top of the wire mesh of the locker and ransacked the unit. They left the storage bins empty and took all of the shoes. read more

Devon Storage is a dump. My storage unit was broken into twice, then they wanted to raise the rent. I asked if they would buy security cameras and he laughed. They hound you for payment calling every 2-3 days to harasse you. DONT USE THESE CROOKS TO STORE YOUR BELONGS IN. YOU'LL REGRET IT!!! read more

I've been renting from this location for several years. I am overall very happy with the facility, and the customer service has been excellent. The on-site manager, Anthony is awesome. He is super friendly, very knowledgeable and really works hard for each client. I had a relatively small issue that was a big problem for me and he set things right and I'm very grateful to him for his customer care. He made me whole again. read more

This place used to be "Canal Street Self Storage" they were responsive and helpful. If you are at the facilities they still are, but the Devon Self Storage people are useless. Be prepared for a looping-phone-hell if you try to call. "Welcome to Devon Self Storage. Press one to talk to someone... press 3 to talk to the site manager... Welcome to Devon Self Storage..." They will only talk to you if you are a NEW customer. Once they have your signature and money, they never want to talk to you again. I pressed the number for "New customer" and briefly spoke to a human. When she determined that I wasn't a new customer, she transferred me right back into the looping message that never ends. There are plenty of storage facilities on the City. This one is expensive and you will never be able to speak to someone on the phone. I'm moving my stuff as fast as I can. read more

A great guy named Rocky helped us out at the desk and was very clear and helpful. We came in thinking we may get screwed, but Rocky actually saved our lives helping us find an affordable storage spot. If you're a student in the area would 10/10 recommend! read more

I am dissapointed in this storage company. First, it is supposed to be climate controlled. When I have stopped in this summer to get some items from the unit, the temperatures on my unit floor were in the 90's and the humidity made it even worse. In additon, I was told when I signed up that most likely my rate would not go up since the place was fairly new and there were not many storage units rented. Sure enough, at the six month mark they upped the rates on me. I assume thats part of the program, they lure you in with a good rate and once you are settled in, then they start raising the rent. On a good note, the manager, Rocky was very helpful and did his best to be responsivle to all my questions. These issues are out of his control. read more

Wish I had read reviews about this company sooner...DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO TAKE A RISK! They recently acquired another storage facility on south wabash and then had a pipe burst. Due to the weather, it froze along the entire side of the building creating a cascade of icicles that could cause serious injur and even dearth if they had fallen. It was so disastrous that the city shut down the street and the new crews had reported it all over he news. It affected 2/3 of the units there and the other 1/3 of the customers aren't even able to access their unit and the entire building is shut down with no notice of when they will reopen. They sent a very toned down email indicating that their had been a slight malfunction but nothing indicating the potential damage to all of those units! I rented this unit because I need to move out of my apartment and had moved half of my items in storage when this happened. While they are not liable for the damages to the items as it is the reason we have insurance, their response has been nothing but unacceptable. - They are unable to give an estimate of when I will be able to access their facility - they provided no solutions until I asked if I could rent from another sister facility and even then I had to bargain for a rate match - my items are stuck in a u-haul that I am renting by the day because I am unable to unload my items - I'm going to have to hire movers and trucks multiple times to consolidate my items - a complete and inconvenient waste of my time - While the managers like Dwayne have tried their best to be accommodating, they are unable to provide quality customer service as the overhead must approve all requests and have denied their solutions - the best they are willing to offer me is two months of rent, one of which I was already supposed to receive as my 1st months free rent so essentially an additional month of free rent for the inconvenience and costs I am accruing. Managers try their best but their hands are tied by the company itself and I do not blame them for the results. They tried offering solutions that were then denied by their bosses. For a company that is slightly over priced than its competitors (180 for a 10x10 vs 109) you would think they would focus more on costumer service!
