I have rented a storage unit from this location twice now, and both times have been a great experience. The facility is modern with storage units of many different sizes, and has a spacious, climate-controlled parking garage so you have one less thing to worry about when accessing your storage unit. There have always been plenty of large carts available when I'm there (and they aren't the rickety, old ones you usually find at storage facilities). Dorothy and Michelle are very responsive and helpful. This time around, Dorothy proactively showed me different storage units that each had pros and cons vs. the rather small unit the computer automatically assigned me, and Michelle was extremely helpful with the process of renting their onsite truck (a great perk for getting your stuff to the storage unit!). read more

Marie was so helpful! She was quick to respond to our inquiry, explain everything about the unit, and give us a tour of the facility. She took the time to make sure that our access code was working, that we understood how to enter and exit the facility, and how to access our unit as well. This is the BEST Storage facility ever! After leaving the burbs and a 3800 Sq' house for a condo in the city there is no way I will ever be without a separate storage space for my personal belongings. This location is always spotless. Always working (elevators, garage doors) and always updating to improve. I always feel safe here even when there is no staff on the weekend. Good facility but watch your bill. After one year, they tried to raise it 30%. After I protested, they said they'd raise it "only" 10%. Then, 3 months later, they snuck it up to 30% anyway. Since they do auto-bill, they can sneak stuff by you...and they do based on my experience. Plan to fight them YET AGAIN. We'll see how I do. Update: Yes, the price did go up again but not by 30%. More like 15%. Still, they got ya. read more

I love the lock up! All the services they offer Make life very easy for me as a business owner. I've had storage units at other facilities that don't receive shipments if I'm not there, or won't deliver the shipments directly into your unit, but that's not an issue at the lock up. I love being able to have shipments sent directly to my unit without me having to be there. It gives me more time to focus on my business, instead of what shipments come on what day. The only thing better than the storage itself is the staff. Dorothy and Michele are extremely accommodating and helpful, and are always looking out for their tenants. read more

I recently emptied my unit at this location and it was sad to say goodby to Dorothy and crew. I had my unit there for a long time because it is very secure, well lighted and clean. Dorothy, the property manager is fantastic and was helpful with my storage, keep or save issues and my visits going through that process. I have been to other storage places and they can be creepy, dark, dusty and dirty. This location is clean and I always felt very safe going alone. Their security is really good. I started going to this unit for work in October and it was some confusion with the previous owner I took it over from (with same company) and myself, but Dorothy who is the manager there has been nothing but great in smoothing it out. Since then the customer service been Dorthy and her staff has been nothing short of amazing. She's gone out her way to help me when my delivery company has messed up and made sure she communicated with me whenever there was an issue or question. I don't give 5 stars often because there's always room for improvement but the management is so on top of how they run their location and the facility is clean and access is secure. The hours are pretty good, ease of access when you're a member, and good location. Overall I highly recommend Dorothy and the Lock Up Self Storage for business and personal! read more

They randomly raised my monthly bill 30% as well. Then last weekend the elevator was broken and I couldn't move anything in or out. When I called they just told me "sorry" and wouldn't even give me a courtesy refund for the major inconvenience. Seems their strategy is to hook people, know it's a royal pain to move storage facilities, and then raise rates and lower service once they get you. I'd go with one of the other places nearby. read more

My company has had lockers at this facility for years. We've seen many staff come and go and I have to say that Dorothy and Michelle are definitely a set of my favorites since I've been around. The facility is very clean and well kept. It's also a bonus that the staff are so personable with their dozens of customers. There hasn't been any issue that I encountered that they didn't try to help me resolve. If I didn't live on another side of town, I would totally have some personal lockers at this facility as well. read more

We moved here after our old storage unit jacked up their prices by 50%. And although this place isn't cheap ($100/mo for a 5x10) it was reasonable. Initially we were very impress by the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the facility, but don't let that fool you. This place is shady. First I found out that a friend of mine (who I recommended The Lock Up to for storage for her business) found out that the 10x10 storage unit she was renting was actually a 10x7.5 storage unit. When she asked them about this discrepancy, they gave her some BS about how the high ceilings made up for the smaller floor space. Needless to say, she moved out. Recently, we went to get some furniture out of our storage unit, only to find that the brick exterior was leaking water into our unit. Initially, the manager was very apologetic and offered to move our stuff to another location in the building. We decided that since the furniture we came to get was actually so water damaged (black mold, etc) and had to be thrown out, that we would just move out all the rest of our items. We received photos from the manager of our damaged items (a sofa, a desk, box of photos) and he told us that they would be making a claim to their insurance . However, I now cannot get him to give me any information about the situation and he said that I needed to make a claim with my insurance company. This of course means that despite The Lock Up not being able to properly maintain their building, I would have to pay my insurance deductible to get any money for the items that had to be thrown out. People pay good money to have their items stored and expect that they will be safe. This place does not offer that. So unless, you want to get ripped off and have your stored items get damaged, DO NOT go to The Lock Up!! read more

I honestly didn't know that renting a storage space could be a positive experience before I went to the Lock Up and met Dorothy. After looking at a few storage spaces around the city with my mother on a hot and stressful Tuesday, the customer service at this place totally blew us away. Dorothy was calm and knowledgable, and she was seriously trying to make sure we were getting the best possible deal and space for my mom's move the following day. She made sure we were comfortable with all the fine print on the storage contract before we signed, and when move day rolled around and everything inevitably did not fit into the space we already had, she helped me open up a last minute space for the balance. The space is clean and well-kept! Everything is video monitored, which makes us feel safe! The loading dock is super easy to use! They even have complimentary coffee in the office! The management makes this place feel like a community, rather than just a place of business. Dropping by to drop off or pick up a box feels like a pleasant visit with a neighbor. 5 stars times a million. read more

She has helped me rearrange my stored materials, recommended organizations to help me do some heavy moving as well as shredding companies. I've been renting a 5x10 for almost a year and I've had nothing but good experiences. Friendly staff. Expensive for, pretty much, a second closet, but it does its job. There's always a parking space available, plenty of carts around. I don't like the area behind it too much (the area to the west); it's a bit shady and it's industrial. However, it's right next to Trader Joe's and close to Wholefoods, so it's convenient when i'm out doing errands. I have seen what look like some stains on the carpeting here and there, but nothing serious and nothing has been leaking into my unit... read more

I have been a customer at the LP location for almost 6months now and I can not say enough about how great this storage location is. The customer service that is provided is unmatched. I get weekly deliveries and they are so prompt in getting them placed within the unit and even give me a follow up call. My company is expanding and I will definitely be getting another unit here. This lockup facility is fantastic. I used this facility for storage from 2008 - 2010 and again from 2014 - 2015. Their loading dock is convenient, the staff (Cynthia and Michelle) are the most helpful individuals you will ever meet at a storage facility, and if there is ever a service need DJ is all over it. Dorothy, the property manager, is just the person you're hoping to deal with when going through the hell of moving. In the 10 years I have rented spaces at the Lock Up--and any where else for that matter--Dorothy is the best of all the site managers I have worked with. I left my favorite hat there during one hectic visit, and when I came months later to access my space, Dorothy saw me, went in the back and came out with the hat! I think that speaks for itself. The facility is clean, well lit, safe and secure. The loading dock almost always has an open space and they supply a good number of wheeled dollies for moving large or small loads in and out. Access during and after hours is easy and convenient. You can pay less but if you're looking for cheerful, friendly, honest service you can trust, this is the place. read more

I had never used a self storage facility before and I was extremely pensive about doing so. The three issues that I worried about the most were that it wasn't going to be clean, that it would be a struggle to move things in or out, and that it would be very expensive. Because of all the wonderful things written about Dorothy in previous reviews, I chose this facility. Yelp helped me to choose wisely. Dorothy and her staff are even better than what I had read. First of all, Dorothy is tireless. If she isn't in the office, then you will see her vacuuming or cleaning somewhere else. She is constantly working to improve this location. For example, she recently added more lighting to the loading dock. She is extremely kind and thoughtful to all of their clients. When I came for the first time she advised me on which size unit would be best for my needs. She was totally right! What I appreciated even more was that she found me a unit that was a better shape and size than what I was planning on getting. One of the great features of this facility is that they have a great loading dock and carts to help you move your items. It is so easy and convenient! The Lock Up also has great deals for new clients; The first three months of my rental were half off. When I no longer needed to store my things, I received a refund for the remainder of the month.
