I hated this Public Storage because they kept increasing the rates and I had no control over it. I couldn't never get into the washroom because the doors were always locked. The property manager Tiffany and Britney were excellent but my public storage units were not. I feel public storage owed me money because of all times I had to hold my urine and I've had Kidney Stones before. The spookiness of the location and the doors to the units wouldn't stay up. My spouse and I was cleaning out our storage on Saturday, March 22nd. The woman who was working at Public Storage at 362 W Chicago Ave was very rude when asking basic questions and steps to closing out the storage. We spent about an hour and 45 minutes making our arrival time from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm. If I could rate her with 0 stars I would, the most unprofessional human being I have yet to encounter. We even had an inflatable mattress stolen out of the storage, which explains why Public Storage wants you to purchase one of their locks, so their rouged employees can go through customers storages and steal!! I am writing to complain because this has not been the first time I have experienced customer service issues at this location and reverse racism. This daytime manager or staff member, because I have had multiple encounters with her during the day. Absolutely, needs to be retrained on customer service to their loyal customers. I have held an up to date account at this location since Summer of 2022, and my rent has been raised three times. I don't pass by this storage often as holiday decorations and artwork is stored in my unit. However almost every time I pass there is always an issue with the property. They require you to buy their lock. This is fine however the lock I initially bought with the unit was not good, over the course of 6-8 months I had broken both keys. This happened when my father was helping me move some boxes into the unit. We had walked down to the front desk this same employee I have problems with was working. We explained the situation, she said there was nothing she could do, she always seems to be going on her "lunch break" and this is important to her because she always explains how she is sick of being bothered on her breaks. She said the lock needed to be cut off by someone who comes in only once a month and I would have to wait. My father was very upset. However, we still treated her with kindness and respect and she could have cared less about the frustration in our voices. My father then wrote two honest reviews about the property and level of customer service lacking on a consistent basis. The district manager saw our reviews and this employee called me back the next day and said my lock would be removed. There have been a handful of times I had random questions very easy or the keypad was not working. This exact employee continues to treat me with zero respect and as if I am bothering her, there have been multiple times I have catered to her timing or " lunch break" and let it go. However, today I too was on my lunch break, and simply wanted a cart to carry 8 boxes up to my unit. I arrived around 1pm, she had walked out and I asked her for the carts. She said she needed to go upstairs and just got the elevator to work. I said okay no problem and continue to wait patiently for about another 5 minutes. She walks out of the office and says that she has to take her lunch now, and cannot bring down the carts right away. I asked her very nicely and respectfully if she could bring one down for me please, as I was on a time crunch. She continued to raise her voice at me, cut me off by raising her voice. In security camera footage if there is sound, you would hear myself not raising my voice but asking nicely and she tells me she won't and she has been cursed out all day by customers. Also; asked me in my job when it is time to take my lunch and a customer bothers me, do I help them. I can only speak for myself but yes, I help especially a simple problem as getting a cart on the top floor. During our exchange a man with brown skin walked in and said hello to her, I ended this conversation explaining to her how I again did not want to complain about her, but her disregard for people well now I am thinking she does not like people with fair skin. I had carried 8 boxes up without a cart. On one of my last trips, this man who pulled in after me had a cart. However I looked around and this employee was no where to be seen. I continued with my boxes as I was pressed for time. When I was done with all my trips 4 specifically. I saw there were 3 carts outside as there usually is, there is something called reverse racism or we can call it racism. She definitely has an issue with people with fair skin. She needs to be retrained in customer service and educated how to treat people. She should take pride in her job and some sort of integrity and these she lacks. MOLD I moved to Chicago from NY 4 months ago. I stored my valuables in a med-sized but overpriced unit the Public Storage W Chicago Ave location. Upon move in four months ago, the smell of MOLD was overwhelming and I told manager about it and made several calls to corporate office to report. Additionally, the manager, on several occasions, was belligerent, angry, rude, refused to give me a cart and I was scared of her. The two movers that moved me out were upset by her behavior as well. After the district manager failed to make restitution for the costs I incurred as my boxes were gathering MOLD, I finally repacked boxes with MOLD and moved to a clean, MOLD free facility. 362 W. Chicago Ave Location is not good. There's multiple times I have visited the location during normal business hours and no worker was present. Call customer service and they stated someone should be working. They also increase rates by $50 every 6 months. The only way to lower your rate is to cancel the contract and move to a new unit which of course is a hassle. My account was on autopay. I was unaware the autopay didn't process correctly and I was charged $62 for a 7 day late fee. Highest late fee I've ever seen anywhere. Storage space is Overpriced. 10x10 for $322. You will not receive help from associates even when in store. They want you to use the mobile app for everything while you watch them talk on their cellphones and be unproductive. read more

I have to admit that my 1st impression wasn't the best of this location (this all changed later), so I went over to the Wells location. The gentleman there was INCREDIBLY helpful and VERY kind. He told me how the Chicago Ave location was the only P.S. in the Downtown area that was climate controlled (which I needed). He sent all my info over to the Chicago Ave location and made sure I was 100% taken care of before I left. Upon my arrival, Linoi was there to greet me. Things could not have gone more smoothly! She was awesome! This was nothing like my 1st experience! She showed me all around, triple checked to make sure my codes and keys worked. She made sure all my questions were answered. Linoi was so so nice and helpful. As others have mentioned, yes the elevators can be slow. I only had an issue once, and it was because someone else was moving items at the same time as myself. If you are there by yourself, you shouldn't run into this issue. Personally, all the pros outweigh a sometimes slow elevator. I am reposting this review of the terrible experience I had a "climate controlled" Public Storage facility on W Chicago Ave in Chicago. When I moved from NY to Chicago last June, I rented a storage unit at this Public Storage location. I did not have a chance to inspect it in person. Upon move in, the smell of MOLD was overwhelming, the facility was hot and humid and I reported it the manager. I reported it to the corporate office. The manager of the facility acted in such a rude, bizarre way that I was alarmed and as scared of her. The beginning of Oct I went to my storage unit and once again the smell of MOLD was worse than ever. I decided to move my valuables to another unit but during the moving process my movers and I discovered black MOLD growing on many boxes. I reported this once again to manager and corporate office to no avail so I decided to move to another storage facility after repacking the effected boxes. Several days later I received a call from Stephanie, the district manager who she was unavailable to meet me on moving out day and said she could only refund the fee of moving to the other unit but refused to cover the damage or my moving costs. Additionally, I refiled a complaint about the manager who was belligerent, rude, unhelpful and disrespectful. I felt unsafe. The two movers I hired witnessed her behavior as well. Public Storage was unwilling to take responsibility or make restitution for an existing problem until I filed a complaint with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) but are now "investigating" my complaint. Sadly, my 4 month rental experience starting on June 7, 2021 to Oct 7, 2021 was traumatic and costly and it felt terrible to know my valuable belongings were not protected. read more

After moving out, setting a checkout date in July, and getting clearance from a worker that "I am all set to go", I still got charged for the following month (August) When I arrived at the location where I had my space, I tried talking with the worker, and they pretty much told me though luck and I should have been better informed. After notifying them that their worker said I am all set, they smiled and refused to help me any further. I did not occupy the space at all for the month of August and still got charged because I left my Auto-Pay on. When I tried talking with customer service agents online, some would disconnect right away without even hearing my issue, or some would just ignore what I am saying and kept saying their policy is firm. I have been a client of their for years and it felt like they are just trying to suck more money out of me. I then tried calling their customer support phone number and kept getting transferred between people, or hung up on. It seemed like they just wanted to transfer me around without actually helping. Trying to move out of the space has been a nightmare, and it seems like the company just wants to suck money out of their clients. 100% LOST MY BUSINESS!!!! read more

i have been a loyal customer of this location for the last 6 yrs, and have seen different people at the front desk coming in and out. but this woman (African American, overweight, tall, short hair) has the WORSE customer service in the planet. se got upset over a flat cart request last Tuesday afternoon and to express her racism and bullying attitude she not only threatened me to call the police but actually called the police and LIED over me parking in her parking spot. another Karen using a phony claim to get a person in big trouble, i am frightened and intimidated by that woman. i reported her but nobody has answered me. use a different company to keep your valuables safe never go to 362 W Chicago. read more

Relocated to Chicago and needed a storage unit near Gold Coast and selected Public Storage at 362 W Chicago Ave. Very pleased! Brittany and Ivan in office are very helpful and an asset to the Public Storage team! I first went to a nearby location at 1129 N Wells St, and dealt with Brittany - but that property was not temperature controlled. Brittany then directed me to the facility at 362 W Chicago and even called ahead to check on availability and let Ivan know I was coming. Once there, Ivan was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly! Very efficient as well - the whole process didn't take long. Convenient off-street parking, clean and feels very safe. Good elevators and washroom. It would be nice if they offered a dumpster for renter use but no storage facilities seem to do this. Maybe it is against PS policy, but it would be good to a have a place to throw out old boxes and stuff. read more

When I joined years ago, I dealt with some pretty helpful & nice people. The sole employee left there today (Tiffany) is the rudest woman you'll ever encounter. She was so incredibly rude to me one day that we got in a screaming match (I have it on video.) The next day when I had to go back, I forget the reason but she called the police, exactly like another reviewer named Carlos said. I showed them the video I had and of course they left, because her claims were false (same as Carlos' experience.) You'd think maybe she was having a bad day but every single time I'm here (maybe once a month) she has a sour puss on her face and attitude any time she opens her mouth. You can be there in the middle of the week, in the middle of the day and even if she's there, "This office is CLOSED!" she tells you with sass. I have rented here in the past at least 3 other times. Sometimes I look at other properties but then always come back here. It is always a decent, clean building and I like that you can drive up and be underneath something so you do not have to worry about weather when moving stuff in or out. They have carts you can borrow during office hours only which worked out fine for me. They are very clear about this. Also their access times are reasonable outside of office hours, I think it's 6AM to 9PM, which felt safe. I also liked that it is right next to the brown line train. This time around Brittany & Ivan were really professional and easy to work with. read more

From showing me several lockers so I could pick the one I wanted, to helping me with setting up my online account and even offering me a chair (Cherneal did that) as I waited for my friend to meet here. I don't want to elaborate for fear that they'll retaliate and do horrible things to my stuff, but every single screw up created massive problems. DO NOT RENT HERE - UNITS WERE VANDALIZED AND CORPORATE DID NOT NOTIFY OWNERS FOR MONTHS. I arrived at my unit today (3-12-15) at the Chicago Ave location, only to find someone had broken in through the ceiling of my unit and several other units. Thousands of dollars of items were stolen.Thieves walked along top of the all units, and cut through the wire ceilings of the units they wanted to rob. When I contacted the district manager, Meghan Arquette, she said that Corporate had known about the break-ins at least January, has filed police reports, and DID NOT NOTIFY ANY OF THE OWNERS. So our stuff has been sitting exposed with a torn up roof for anyone to get into . Meghan Arquette refused to compensate any rental costs, would not reimburse me for the cost of rental, and basically blew me off. So Stay away from Public Storage... they knew someone was breaking into units, refused to contact those of us who were vandalized, and still had the audacity to charge us. This is a standard storage space. They offer $1 for your first month. You can have access 24 hrs with your code and key. The elevators are ridiculously SLOW. There is a small area for parking, as long as some movers arent blocking the space. The staff here are always nice. read more
