We moved in in April and we moved out this week. While we need a storage unit, we don't need one for the next few months. When we need one again in November, we will be going far, far away from this place. The biggest issue I have with them is their customer service, from the actual location AND corporate. When we signed up we opted in for auto billing on the 1st of every month. Everything was (mostly) fine up until this month. I received a phone call from them somewhere around the 1st or 2nd of the month in regards to the storage unit. I thought it was because my boyfriend had told them we wanted to move out soon. I called back and there was no answer so I left a message to please give me a call. Days go by and there is no returned call. I figured whatever their question was, they must have figured it out. Fast forward to a few days ago, around August 7th. I am checking my email one last time before going to bed and I get an email from Public Storage saying a late-fee has been applied to our account since we didn't pay on time. What? How does that happen? I am on auto pay? They are charging me because they forgot to take the money out? So I give them a call the following morning and they tell me that auto billing was stopped on our account. By who? Not me. Not my boyfriend. Not our dog. So I start telling her this and she takes is VERY personally and gets snippy and tells me to call corporate. I also tell her I want to move out and she tweaks out on me saying I can't move out till I take care of our outstanding balance. I tell her we actually already did move out and I just need the account canceled. She gets very, very upset with me "How did you move out? You took the lock?" 'Yes, I moved out by coming there and taking my stuff and putting in it my car and taking the lock off the unit.' "How did you get in with an outstanding balance?" 'We drove there and opened the gates and went up." .....sooooo I call corporate, follow the key prompts and am ultimately connected back to the unit! "Hello?" 'Hi! Is this corporate?' "No. I JUST told you what number to call!" 'I called that number and was connected back to you.' (insert rant she went on so I called corporate again and followed different prompts.) FINALLY corporate takes off the late fee and I tell them okay next thing I need to do is move out. I explained our unit was vacant and we just wanted to be prorated for the rest of the month, moved out on the 9th. Much to my surprise, they won't prorate after the 6th. But when I called them on the 1st they couldn't return my call so I should have been moved out by the 6th to have a prorated amount but they couldn't return my call to let me know that. So anyways I agree to pay the entire month and move out. Corporate tells me the fee was removed and I tell them to pay the month. They said they did. I call the unit back and tell them we are all paid up and time to vacate. She yells at me and tells me I am not all paid up. What? How? I just spoke to corporate and they told me they took care of it. Nope! Corporate took the late fee off but when I said to just charge our card on file for the month they said they did, but they didn't. So after getting berated by the unit person herself, I hung up and figured I would take care of it online. So anyways, we have a vacant unit we are paying for through the end of August bc apparently August 9th is too close to the end of the month to prorate. So, anyone want to have a party in our unit?
Basically, this place has been a nightmare this past week and we will not be returning. I thought I could get past the other things wrong with the place, like never having carts available, but after this, no way. But just so you are all aware, they have about three carts for use. We have a truck so we CAN keep stuff in there, prefer not to, but CAN.... but we have pulled in on MULTIPLE occasions wanting to put stuff in there after work and there are never carts available. I feel like half the time I was paying PS for a unit but kept everything in our truck since we couldn't actually get our stuff UP to our unit without the cart. Frustrating. Over it. Never going back. Run far, far away. read more
