I had that for a year before going into one a 1/3rd of the size to reduce costs, the nice staff gave me really good one right next to the entrance. I have had storage units at this location for more than 2 decades. It was owned and operated by an…read moreindividual, when I first rented. And there was always someone available in the office, if there were any issues. Now, it is managed by a huge conglomerate, remotely. Trying to get assistance, from their remote employees is ridiculous. The rolling door on one of my storage units, does not open. I have called repeatedly and the people answering read from a script.... It is like talking to a robot. I asked to speak to a supervisor today, because talking to the script readers has gotten me no where. I was told that I am not "allowed" to speak to anyone higher than the person, I was already talking to. Do not rent here. Select a place with an on site manager. Trying to get something fixed, when the person you are talking to, can't physically see the problem, is just stupid. So another day goes by, and I still can't get into a unit I pay good money for. Remote managing sucks.

The only issue was the price doubled, but with the cost of space in SD it's to be expected. Erica was great at move-in and move-out. She has a tough job dealing with all the messes left by people, so inconsiderate. Even with all she deals with, she is helpful, friendly, and goes above and beyond to care for her customers. We appreciate you. We felt our stuff was safe and free of rodents. There were no droppings or issues with the boxes we've unpacked since moving back home. We had a great location, and it was always clean when we went in to grab something we couldn't live without or put something we bought. Overall, this was an easy experience, and I recommend this location as clean and safe. Thank you, Erica.

To whom it may concern, Let me start from the get-go! I…read morerented a 10X10 from this place a few months back I was told My rate would go up a little maybe a couple of times in a year then it 'wouldn't go up from there, well that wasn't true it's gone up 3 times in less than a year. That wasn't the problem with me the problem was when I got a random call on a Saturday morning from Cesi an employee. Let me tell you exactly what happened grab some popcorn cause this is good. So Cesi called me and asked 'Hi Is this Jonathan I say Yes hi, she said have you been to your unit lately? I say no it's been a while at least maybe a couple of months She says ok because the unit is 'open I say what? She said yes! It wasn't you? I say no! She says well it's open and it looks like there's a red machine outside of it is that yours? I say yes that's my welder she says ok well it looks like it's been broken into. I say what! she says yes. I need to know if I can have your permission to drill the lock. I say what? She says yes I need your permission to drill the lock and fix the door, right now I'll send you an e-mail and you can electronically sign it, so we can drill the lock I say Ok, not thinking right at that moment. Then I asked hey wait a minute what if I'm missing stuff what did they take anything? can you check the cameras her response was oooh nooo that's going to take HOURS! What! She says yes oh and you have to make a police report. At this point in My mind, I'm like hhm.. you know what let me come over I'm only 30 minutes away. She says ok, and hangs up on me. I was like no way! So I called my girlfriend briefly explained what was going on and asked her to meet me there with the key. We show up and I say Hi are you Cesi? She says yes, Hi I say I'm Jonathan she says Oh yeah what did you have in there because the system says you only have toats in there? I say yes the toats have stuff in them. She says O well it says you only have toats in there. I say can we go to the unit she says yeah! We get there and the bottom right of the door is completely ripped out of its track making a small crawl hole at this point I look right at Cesi and Ask ' Do customers normally do this? She says what? I said break the door like this, Why would you ask me if it was me that did this? She said no I didn't ask you that I said yes you did then I said why wouldn't you ask me to file a police report? She said let me get my coworker who I don't even know his name he came over and said what's the problem I said nothing I'm trying to figure out what I need to do. He said it's a process you have to file a police report I said ok why wouldn't you guys tell me this from the beginning, he said it's up to you I said you mean to tell me that I have to make the police report and you don't? He says we already called the cops and made a police report, Now YOU HAVE TO MAKE A POLICE REPORT! I say that's gonna take hours it's Saturday this isn't an emergency he says well what do you want me to do? I say nothing man he says screaming at me LISTEN TO ME YOU FENING AHOLE I WORK AT NATIONAL CITY IT HAPPENS ALL TIME OUT THERE I'M TELLING YOU THE PROCESS. I say oh so you're used to this then he gets even more mad gets inches from my face and says screaming off the top of his lungs LISTEN! I look right into his eyes and say 'I'M LISTENING . Again Screaming at ME YOU DON'T COME HERE AND CAUSE A SEEN YOU DONT UNDERSTANT I EFFING HATE! THIS JOB!! At this point, my girlfriend gets in between us and says hey calm down. He says you need to figure out if you're missing any shit! And figure out what you're gonna do with your shit! I say REALLY! At this point, I tell my girlfriend Let go! We're leaving the whole way out this guy is Screaming! at the top of his lungs saying how he hates this job! And I needed to be careful. So we leave and from a block away I call the police, Dispatch asks me what happened I tell her all that's going on then I say ' They said they already made a police report and now I have to make one she says ok whats the storage aging I tell he its the Extra Space Storage 3085 Del Sol Blvd, San Diego, CA 92154 she says and they said that already made the bake in the report I said that what they told me. She says no there's no report of any break-ins from that place at all for today hmm. I say I'm sorry that's what they told me. She says ok we'll get an Officer out to you asap! I kid you not all I did was drive back to the storage a block away and the officer was already pulling up! WOW! 2 minutes they were there. I told the office what was going on we went in there and the door was already fixed with a new lock my girlfriend had unlocked it when we left so they were able to fix it and set a new lock in the time we were gone. the officer asked me if anything was missing I said I don't know I haven't checked he says ok I'm gonna give you an incident number and if you later find missing stuff call us. a week later I get another increase! There's more.

As I was pulling glass out, it broke everywhere. It was the last thing I needed and I was without anything to pick it up. This sweet girl came over and reassured me nothing was wrong and helped me clean it up. I was truly on the verge of just crying when it happened-I was so tired from the emotional part of removing an 82 year old man from his home, the mental part from the logistics and curation of the move, physically clearing a two story house in a weekend and driving from Vegas to San Diego (0 stars- do not recommend lol). Her kindness and understanding went a long way for me. We finally were able to pull the items out of the unit yesterday. It was a busy day so there were no dollies available. There was this sweet angel again. She went out of her way to bring me one that just became available without me even asking for it. The service she provided feels rare to get these days and it felt important for me to acknowledge her. Thank you for making our tough days a little easier.

To Corporate Management, I am writing this review to express…read moremy deep frustration and agitation regarding my experience at National City Self Storage. While the base rental rates appear reasonable at first, the facility relies on uncommunicated fine print, rigid payment terms, and poor customer service that make storing here a nightmare. Key issues that require immediate corporate attention: Excessive Lock Fees: Charging $20 simply to cut a lock on top of $15 for a replacement lock totaling over $35 is unreasonable. Unfair Billing Restrictions: Customers are not allowed to clear a prior month's balance individually once a new cycle starts. Even on the very first day of a new billing period, you are forced to pay both months together along with late fees, regardless of financial circumstances. Uncommunicated Payment Methods: Staff failed to inform me that certain fees must be paid strictly in cash in person. Having funds on a card forced me to incur additional bank/ATM cash withdrawal fees. Severe Neglect of Customer Care: I was forced to navigate all of these hidden hurdles in 104°F heat with my 2-year-old child. Had staff explained these policies upfront, I could have completed everything in one trip instead of exposing my child to dangerous heat. The staff and facility policies failed me as a customer and as a parent. I am posting this publicly and contacting corporate so that this location is held accountable and forced to reform its transparency and customer treatment.
