I thought I had lived life to the culinary fullest until I discovered Stoney River's caramelized onion mashed potatoes last night...Holy Yum it was amazing. I have no idea what they caramelized the onions in but I'm convinced it has to be the nectar of the Gods. With that said if you don't try these I feel so very sorry for you, I hate that I only tried these until last night. We started out with the Lobster Bisque it had a great flavor with a little spicy touch to it, pretty rich so next time I'll get a cup and not a bowl. The Wedge Salad is about the best Wedge you can get. I tried the Coffee Cured Filet this time but was a little wary that it would have a strong coffee flavor and it doesn't at all it comes out with a nice brown sugar/cumin hint to it. Finished off with the Creme brûlée you can really taste the vanilla bean in it which makes it that more wonderful. I already knew that Stoney River was the place to go for sublime ambiance and excellent steak, but our visit tonight was FABULOUS simply because of our server. Kenya was warm, personable, and real. She was a delight to chat with, took great care of us, and even brought our (grown) son a slice of cake with a candle--because we'd told her he had moved home after living in Arkansas. "Welcome home," she said. Serving is hard work, and often unappreciated. Kenya made it clear that she loves her work--and it's obvious she loves people, too. I have lived here for 9 years and Stoney River has been a go to for a consistent good steak. The prices are not cheap but better than Jeff Rubys and other premium steak houses. I ordered a $47 filet medium rare and it had a hard shell and purple in the middle. Received the same steak back in medallions and could not cut it. Unbelievably bad. read more

I tend to prefer this Stoney River over the one on West End for two reasons. First of all, the location is much bigger and has a more comfortable open feel to it. Secondly, the parking lot is big enough that you don't have the "Free Valet" parking of the other location. While I appreciate that it DOES say it's free, I feel awkward not tipping the valet. It seems as though the Steaks are better as well, but it's entirely possible this is just a subjective feeling because of how much more I enjoy this location. The Staff is always professional and courteous, and they don't scoff if you send your steak back for being undercooked. They do tend to go easy on the cooking there and my girlfriend observed that you might wish to go up a step if you used to a more well cooked steak. I tend to order medium rare, so its hard for me to be disappointed. If you want something Medium, you might want to go Medium Well Done. Overall, if you have a choice between the two, I'd recommend this Stoney River, but either way you are going to be happy. read more

What an interesting find as it's a mix of well-dressed older folks and younger folks in jeans/shorts and t-shirts. I hate to rate any restaurant on a holiday (Father's Day), but it's the only experience I've had. Made a reservation through Open Table as I so often do and arrived about 45-minutes early to catch a seat at the bar and talk. It's VERY loud and couldn't really hear each other. Only two bartenders serving the entire bar and restaurant (not a good idea on Father's Day), so the wait for a cocktail was ridiculously long. Not the bartender's faults as they were working their butts off. Told the hostesses that we wanted a booth, made it clear that we would wait for a booth, yet we were brought to a table. Asked to wait again for a booth, and about 10-minutes later were brought to a booth. Again, Father's Day and packed, so they're forgiven. Very comfortable booths but extremely dark...thank you phone flashlight, lol. Was hoping for a larger wine list since it's a steakhouse, but unfortunately it wasn't so great. Very few wines by the glass that I would consider drinking and the list wasn't varied. Went from a low price point of $45/60 into the hundreds with not much in between. Also, not a lot of variety, mostly just standard cab/pinot/merlot. Was hoping for Meritage or to try something I'd not had before, but this wasn't the case (no pun intended). So minus one star for that reason. We shared the lobster bisque and it was to DIE FOR! Honestly, the best we've ever had, except for a lack of actual lobster chunks. But the flavor was all there, especially the sherry. Moved onto the wedge salad, which was also very fresh and delicious and BIG. Lastly, we split the ribeye with a baked potato. One of the biggest baked potatoes we'd ever seen, and loaded with cheese, sour cream, butter, bacon and chives...nom nom nom. Their rolls weren't our favorite as they're sweet and fried, almost like a little donut tbh, and served with a honey butter of some sort. Chelsea was our server and she was the best. Very attentive yet not obtrusive and knew the menu well, which helped us make decisions. Wish we'd had room for dessert but stuffed. All-in-all the prices were very reasonable, the food was well-prepared and delicious, just need to update that wine list to bring you to the next tier. read more

Dined at the West End location for a breakfast brunch. Complimentary valet, nice atmosphere and friendly hostess upon entering the facility. Everything we tried on the menu was delicious, steak rolls, deviled eggs, chicken and waffles and the avocado and sourdough dish. We had my toddler son with us and he was able to get fries and broccoli, the Mac and cheese was made with Gouda so I didn't even attempt to go there with a 6 year old. The drinks were more than fairly priced at 5.00 for mimosas, sangrias, breakfast cocktails and more! I forgot to write a review about this AWESOME place... I was treated to an amazing dinner for my birthday by my mother who came into town to surprise me. We all share a piece of what we had we all couldn't believe how good it was... The ribeye was cooked medium rare and it was perfect, melt in your mouth tender. The coffee cured filet was so soft it was like trying to eat butter which is impossible! Now my prime rib was a show stopper!! My family ate at Stoney River this week to celebrate a special occasion. We had reservations but our table was not ready until 30 minutes after our reservation time which meant we were sitting in the lobby for 45 minutes (we arrived prior to our reservation time). When we finally were seated, the waiter rushed us to the point of literally walking away in the middle of our appetizer order while we were still mod sentence and trying to order. I guess he assumed that we would only want one app and walked off the second he heard the first order??? Hello, there are 6 of us and we have waited 45 minutes for our table......we are starving! The side dish on my daughters plate was incorrect and the meat on my daughters entree was cooked to the wrong temperature and while the server agreed that it was not cooked the way she requested, nothing was done to remedy the situation. After we pointed it out her meal was taken away so she had nothing to eat. Not sure what that was about. Then the server brought me a to go box (that I did not request) and suggested I box up my food while I was still eating. Despite the issue with my daughters meal, I do love the food at Stoney River so I might have overlooked the long wait time but the incredibly poor service is a dealbreaker for me. read more

Dinner tonight was a great treat! From appetizer to dessert my experience was a delight. The French onion soup was hot and the caramelized onions, with that amazing garlic flavor... amazing is all I can call it. Dinner was the lime glazed chicken, I've never had such tender chicken before in my life! I was able to cut the meat off of the wing "drummet", and the seasoning was perfect! The Mashed potatoes were real, and not over done, and dessert was the Blondie brownie. Although the food was delicious, I wouldn't have known where to start if it wasn't for Ms. Christopher! My steak was cooked incorrectly. When they said they would throw it on the grill for another minute or two, it came back out 10 minutes later- charred. It was so black and charred that the entire top layer of the steak was black and nowhere near edible. I could not eat it. I didn't even ask for well done, but it came out much closer to medium rare. The service is questionable and was the most uncomfortable dining experience we've ever had. When the server actually decided to grace us with her service, she continued to come over and just reach in front of my face- where I had to back up- to drop something off or fill my sip of water that I just took. I have been coming here for a few years and have always brought my kid. Not once have we ever been told about a child's meal, and instead have always been charged for an adult burger for our kid. I was just made aware that they actually have a much cheaper option for young children. Easy way to make a few extra dollars I guess when you don't bother, even if asking if you have a kid's menu. Since it's not an actual menu, the servers probably figure they are not being unethical. When asked to speak to someone to see if I could get another steak, I was told the manager was not available. While the food is always on point, the ambience needs work. I dined at this location last night for my birthday, and the music was so loud, the servers couldn't hear our orders and none of us could hear each other talk through the entire dinner - so we all ended up having to shout at each other over our food. This is our favorite steak place and has been for a decade. My daughters order was wrong and my plate of food was cold. My husbands steak was over marinated, charred on the outside, and raw in the middle instead of the usual delicious medium rare we are always served there. The waiter was taking a smoke break right outside of our window as we took our first expensive bites. The waiter and manager both decided to debate the issue of how the steak was prepared, rather than apologizing. The fries were different in a lackluster way. However, this last time there we had to wait 30 mins past our 8pm rez, and altho we did see the manager walking about during our wait, there was absolutely no sight of him once we were finally seated. My friends were in town and we went looking on Yelp for a steakhouse in Franklin and found this. Wasn't sure what to expect. With the prices I thought it would be a little fancy but other patrons were there in shorts and t shirts. It creates an odd feel for me honestly. Started dinner with the crab cake - AMAZING. Really delicious. Free bread tastes like fried donut holes to me, too sweet. Salad was standard, not bad and not great. Dinner I had the naked salmon however I personally don't consider naked coming with a giant slab of butter on top.... scraped it off. Salmon was ehhhhh, salty and not my favorite. Spinach that came with it was oily, I couldn't even eat it and I love spinach. Husband on the other hand loved his steak - everyone did. I get it, it's a steakhouse so maybe not for me (a non meat eater). Favorite part was the carrot cake. It was literally like a quarter of a cake. Moistest carrot cake I've ever had, I ate around the icing but everyone loved it. It's a tad expensive (our total was $145 including tip) and again, the atmosphere didn't fit to me. Not sure I'd go back. They also made several mistakes with our orders but they were corrected (didn't bring salad dressing, left us with meals an no silverware, forgot my friends blue cheese, drinks left at bar forever, etc). The New York strip was grilled perfectly and my wife enjoyed a kale salad with a salmon fillet - a suggestion of our server's that was much appreciated.
