OK, I'll admit, I was in a shit mood when I came here tonight. Bad day at work, thoroughly disgusted with the dem panic, and ready to throat punch the next person suggesting I "social distance". So when the wife said "let's go out" I was like "great, more over priced, meh food in Franklafornia". We got to the restaurant, and there was a fairly lengthy wait. Ordered a couple of apps, the Ahi Stack and the Lobster Bisque, expecting nothing special. Man, was I WRONG! This is the first time in almost a year I can say I really enjoyed eating out. The Ahi Stack is off the hook, and HUGE! We DID NOT expect a app that was bigger than most restaurant's entrees. The bisque was fresh, and had the right amount of flavor and spice. So, this is likely our new go-to spot. Next time I may have to skip the app, and try a steak. This is how good food is supposed to make you feel! Damn good job Stone ***UPDATE*** OK, so I just got done with my third return dinner at Stoney River since this review. By now, I'd expect that something would have gone wrong with something. NOPE!! Still epic dinners. Had the 16 oz strip with baked potato. AWESOME! Not like most steak places where you have to soak bland meat in A1 to choke it down. I think the seasoning was sea salt and cracked black pepper , with herb butter on top. It was PERFECT!! To put anything else on this steak would have been a sin. Not sure how they keep the quality at this level, but I'm glad they do. I'll keep coming back! UPDATE AGAIN So, I find myself (and my wife) again at Stoney River. I keep giving these folks the opportunity to fall on their faces food or service wise. Ya know what. THEY NEVER DO!! We usually alternate between a night of apps and drinks, and a night of steaks. Give it a try sometime. Instead of doing the "app, entree, salad", mix it up some. I can honestly continue to say, as with no other place in the Franklin, TN area, Stoney River will never disappoint as a nice place to spend a date night. Thanks to all! read more

The food was absolutely incredible, but the service was very poor. I'm disappointed to have celebrated my graduation & my friend's birthday at Stoney River. We waited roughly 20 minutes past our reservation (and we arrived 10 minutes early). It took 15 minutes to get drinks after being seated. Our server was always MIA - we couldn't even order & receive horseradish by the time our steak was eaten & our drinks stayed empty. In addition, the complimentary cake fell over before it was brought to the table, so the candle was unable to be lit...and our server disappeared when we asked for clean silverware. Overall, I expected better service at this high-end establishment. read more

I forgot to write a review about this AWESOME place... I was treated to an amazing dinner for my birthday by my mother who came into town to surprise me. I have lived here for 3 years and never thought to eat here. Heard amazing reviews about this place and they weren't wrong! The hostess/waiters/waitresses are so friendly and are very very attentive! Steaks/Prime Rib: What can I say!!! This is a steakhouse and the steaks are AMAZING!!! There were 3 of us eating so we all had something different due to what we enjoy eating! We all share a piece of what we had we all couldn't believe how good it was... The ribeye was cooked medium rare and it was perfect, melt in your mouth tender. The coffee cured filet was so soft it was like trying to eat butter which is impossible! Now my prime rib was a show stopper!! Not all the excessive fat which some people love when it's cooked right, but this was a nice hunk of meat... Boy oh boy I couldn't finish it!!! I don't need to mention the rolls with the cinnamon butter is like candy so stay far away if you don't wanna get addicted to these lol... Not to mention you'll fill up and not be able to eat your meal, which is what I did wrong but the doggy bag home came in handy for the late night sleepwalking I tend to do lol... The salads are delicious but it tends to get in the way of your meal lol... SERVICE: This is the reason I wanted to truly post about this place! I have been to some great fine dining restaurants and service was POOR yet the food was great, but due to service I would never go back! This place is totally opposite, the service is what makes the entire meal and experience something to write about... My waiter was a young gentlemen I'm sorry I can't remember his nMe because he deserves recognition, he was more then attentive and not invasive! Always spotted our table from across the room, no lie not once did either of our drinks get below half glass! (Maybe) that's why I couldn't eat all my food lol... The staff were friendly greeting you at the door, calling us by our last name even the GM happened to be in and came to check on our table and thank us for choosing their establishment.. That makes a memorable experience for myself and makes me want to come back for all my important events or just a special dinner... I know that people had some bad experiences here and have quite a bit to say and that is your personal experience and your entitled to it. However, if your gonna complain about prices then maybe you forgot it is a STEAKHOUSE! I mean it costs you half the price just eating fast food now days! All of our family loves Stoney River! What a lovely restaurant that's high end, yet affordable. It's classy and you are well taken care of, yet can bring a toddler and not get the stink eye. The food is top notch and blows my mind every single time. Wide variety on the menu with unforgettable presentation, incredible quality, and absolutely delectable. My mouth waters thinking about their French onion soup and Wedge salad alone. Not to mention one of their glorious steaks, fish selections, or a brunch treat. Well done as always Stoney River. First time visiting, had a feeling that the steaks would be good. Service was great. We had the salmon great, the meatloaf(go figure), delicious and a Hamburger( one of the best burgers ever), no one wanted steak. We were pleasantly pleased with our selections, the potions were huge. I had come here before and was super impressed. The service was great. This last time however was a totally different experience. The waiter was not very nice after I decided that I didn't want to drink alcohol and seemed to throw down the plates and make me feel like my $100 tab wasn't important enough for great service. My plate for bread was crusted with someone else's dinner and the glaze over my eyes for this place faded. Had the server been more polite I would've left 5 stars. Had a delightful experience the first visit, but a not-good experience recently. I ordered the petite filet and told the server "chef's choice" on preparation. The server said the chef prepares the filet medium. I can't imagine a chef at a steakhouse that doesn't prepare medium rare but left it in their hands. Although the steak was tender and edible, the picture shows the middle part of the steak which was the pink spot. At other steakhouses, the filet is prepared medium rare as chef's choice. There was a funky spice in the seasoning that left an aftertaste, not in a good way. The highlight of the meal was the garlic mashed potatoes although they put green sprinkles on, but I could eat around them. The server said that I couldn't order the French Onion soup without cheese which I had done on my previous visit. Maybe they had an off night. With several other steakhouses in the area, I'll try those before going back to Stoney River. read more

really love this place for happy hour---sit at the bar, order off the happy hour menu---you cannot go wrong with the selection and quality of food offered. If you are not picky about your cocktails go ahead and enjoy the specials-but they bartenders are quite capable of making it how you like it and want it....they are always friendly and accomodating.....and he little buns they have are awesome----the restuarants rolls not the bartenders buns...but hey i didn't check those out so I cannot say for sure....i will update after going there next time i just wanted to mention to everybody that you really should join the red canoe society--it is free and you always get coupons in your email for huge discounts....love it... I already knew that Stoney River was the place to go for sublime ambiance and excellent steak, but our visit tonight was FABULOUS simply because of our server. Kenya was warm, personable, and real. She was a delight to chat with, took great care of us, and even brought our (grown) son a slice of cake with a candle--because we'd told her he had moved home after living in Arkansas. "Welcome home," she said. Serving is hard work, and often unappreciated. Kenya made it clear that she loves her work--and it's obvious she loves people, too. Looking for something new to try, my husband and I went to Stoney River for lunch on a Sunday morning around 11:30. There were very few other restaurant patrons present. The restaurant is lovely and upscale for a place on the outskirts of the mall, but it's a nice area, so we weren't surprised. We were seated at a booth in the bar. After we ordered our drinks, our server asked us if we would like biscuits. For health reasons, I don't eat a lot of bread, so I told my husband it was up to him. The server haughtily said, "They're complimentary," as though we were concerned about the cost. We were both taken aback. When she returned with our drinks, she asked if we were there for a special reason (again, on a Sunday morning around 11:30). Fair enough, I guess, but we were both bristling at this point. I was, frankly, livid. We were not dressed any differently than anyone else in the restaurant and, in fact, we were dressed nicer than some. We're obviously not regulars, as this was our first time at Stoney River. While we don't live in the Nashville area, we are frequent visitors and always eat at nicer restaurants. We have never been made to feel like this server made us feel. That said, my food (cedar-planked salmon) was delicious. My husband was less impressed with his tuscan chicken. The deviled eggs, while flavorful, were messy in their presentation. Three stars for the ambiance, the salmon, and the server's attentiveness to refills. Dinner tonight was a great treat! From appetizer to dessert my experience was a delight. The French onion soup was hot and the caramelized onions, with that amazing garlic flavor... amazing is all I can call it. Dinner was the lime glazed chicken, I've never had such tender chicken before in my life! I was able to cut the meat off of the wing "drummet", and the seasoning was perfect! The Mashed potatoes were real, and not over done, and dessert was the Blondie brownie. Although the food was delicious, I wouldn't have known where to start if it wasn't for Ms. Christopher! She guided me through the menu, and was knowledgeable of the wine and spirit offerings, but as well as pairings with my meal. She truely made dinner a delightful event! What an interesting find as it's a mix of well-dressed older folks and younger folks in jeans/shorts and t-shirts. I hate to rate any restaurant on a holiday (Father's Day), but it's the only experience I've had. Made a reservation through Open Table as I so often do and arrived about 45-minutes early to catch a seat at the bar and talk. It's VERY loud and couldn't really hear each other. Only two bartenders serving the entire bar and restaurant (not a good idea on Father's Day), so the wait for a cocktail was ridiculously long. Not the bartender's faults as they were working their butts off. Told the hostesses that we wanted a booth, made it clear that we would wait for a booth, yet we were brought to a table. Asked to wait again for a booth, and about 10-minutes later were brought to a booth. Again, Father's Day and packed, so they're forgiven. Very comfortable booths but extremely dark...thank you phone flashlight, lol. Was hoping for a larger wine list since it's a steakhouse, but unfortunately it wasn't so great. Very few wines by the glass that I would consider drinking and the list wasn't varied. Went from a low price point of $45/60 into the hundreds with not much in between. Also, not a lot of variety, mostly just standard cab/pinot/merlot. Was hoping for Meritage or to try something I'd not had before, but this wasn't the case (no pun intended). So minus one star for that reason. We shared the lobster bisque and it was to DIE FOR! Honestly, the best we've ever had, except for a lack of actual lobster chunks. But the flavor was all there, especially the sherry. Moved onto the wedge salad, which was also very fresh and delicious and BIG. Lastly, we split the ribeye with a baked potato. One of the biggest baked potatoes we'd ever seen, and loaded with cheese, sour cream, butter, bacon and chives...nom nom nom. Their rolls weren't our favorite as they're sweet and fried, almost like a little donut tbh, and served with a honey butter of some sort. Chelsea was our server and she was the best. Very attentive yet not obtrusive and knew the menu well, which helped us make decisions. Wish we'd had room for dessert but stuffed. All-in-all the prices were very reasonable, the food was well-prepared and delicious, just need to update that wine list to bring you to the next tier. read more

Crab cakes were AMAZING! Only giving 4 stars because I asked for my salmon to be cooked well done and it was still pretty raw.

I was given a gift card to this steak house, which is not my usual first pick of places to go out. I was wrong. 1. The bread. It's like a donut. Fabulous. 2. Atmosphere. Beautiful inside, lovely music. Relaxing and not as loud as most Nashville spots. 3. Huge portions. 4. Reservations available. On open table we were prompted to say why we were dining there and my husband clicked anniversary. From the time the hostess opened the door for us until we left people were saying happy anniversary. They brought us champagne and cake and... a card! What even with that? We left full and feeling like we had been treated like family. We will definitely be back. 5. Dress... we dressed up, as it was our anniversary but this is a typical Brentwood casual place. Everything from golf shirts and shorts to sports coats. Dined at the West End location for a breakfast brunch. Complimentary valet, nice atmosphere and friendly hostess upon entering the facility. Everything we tried on the menu was delicious, steak rolls, deviled eggs, chicken and waffles and the avocado and sourdough dish. We had my toddler son with us and he was able to get fries and broccoli, the Mac and cheese was made with Gouda so I didn't even attempt to go there with a 6 year old. The drinks were more than fairly priced at 5.00 for mimosas, sangrias, breakfast cocktails and more! My family ate at Stoney River this week to celebrate a special occasion. We had reservations but our table was not ready until 30 minutes after our reservation time which meant we were sitting in the lobby for 45 minutes (we arrived prior to our reservation time). When we finally were seated, the waiter rushed us to the point of literally walking away in the middle of our appetizer order while we were still mod sentence and trying to order. I guess he assumed that we would only want one app and walked off the second he heard the first order??? Hello, there are 6 of us and we have waited 45 minutes for our table......we are starving! The side dish on my daughters plate was incorrect and the meat on my daughters entree was cooked to the wrong temperature and while the server agreed that it was not cooked the way she requested, nothing was done to remedy the situation. After we pointed it out her meal was taken away so she had nothing to eat. Not sure what that was about. Then the server brought me a to go box (that I did not request) and suggested I box up my food while I was still eating. Despite the issue with my daughters meal, I do love the food at Stoney River so I might have overlooked the long wait time but the incredibly poor service is a dealbreaker for me. read more

I have lived here for 9 years and Stoney River has been a go to for a consistent good steak. The prices are not cheap but better than Jeff Rubys and other premium steak houses. My steak was cooked incorrectly. When they said they would throw it on the grill for another minute or two, it came back out 10 minutes later- charred. It was so black and charred that the entire top layer of the steak was black and nowhere near edible. I could not eat it. I didn't even ask for well done, but it came out much closer to medium rare. The service is questionable and was the most uncomfortable dining experience we've ever had. When the server actually decided to grace us with her service, she continued to come over and just reach in front of my face- where I had to back up- to drop something off or fill my sip of water that I just took. I have been coming here for a few years and have always brought my kid. Not once have we ever been told about a child's meal, and instead have always been charged for an adult burger for our kid. I was just made aware that they actually have a much cheaper option for young children. Easy way to make a few extra dollars I guess when you don't bother, even if asking if you have a kid's menu. Since it's not an actual menu, the servers probably figure they are not being unethical. When asked to speak to someone to see if I could get another steak, I was told the manager was not available. What a waste. Over $100 bill and I for sure would not go back. So disgusted. read more

I always tell people that Stoney River is a sleeper hit. There are so many steak house choices in Nashville - but this one is always a solid choice. While the food is always on point, the ambience needs work. I dined at this location last night for my birthday, and the music was so loud, the servers couldn't hear our orders and none of us could hear each other talk through the entire dinner - so we all ended up having to shout at each other over our food. Our first visit to this location. Service and food were excellent. Started with lemon drop mojito. Refreshing and light. For mains we got Bistro chicken and steak and biscuits. My friends were in town and we went looking on Yelp for a steakhouse in Franklin and found this. Wasn't sure what to expect. With the prices I thought it would be a little fancy but other patrons were there in shorts and t shirts. It creates an odd feel for me honestly. Started dinner with the crab cake - AMAZING. Really delicious. Free bread tastes like fried donut holes to me, too sweet. Salad was standard, not bad and not great. Dinner I had the naked salmon however I personally don't consider naked coming with a giant slab of butter on top.... scraped it off. Salmon was ehhhhh, salty and not my favorite. Spinach that came with it was oily, I couldn't even eat it and I love spinach. Husband on the other hand loved his steak - everyone did. I get it, it's a steakhouse so maybe not for me (a non meat eater). Favorite part was the carrot cake. It was literally like a quarter of a cake. Moistest carrot cake I've ever had, I ate around the icing but everyone loved it. It's a tad expensive (our total was $145 including tip) and again, the atmosphere didn't fit to me. Not sure I'd go back. They also made several mistakes with our orders but they were corrected (didn't bring salad dressing, left us with meals an no silverware, forgot my friends blue cheese, drinks left at bar forever, etc).
