This restaurant was adjacent to my hotel, so I went twice! Once for dinner and once for lunch. For dinner, Chastity was server and for lunch, James. Both were equally pleasant and super friendly. It is a little dark inside, but that would probably be my only complaint. They have full menu for both lunch and dinner. For dinner, I had the steak medallions with the shrimp. So good! You get one side, I had the baked potato and that sucker was huge!! The rolls that they serve are amazing!! The next day, I had a salad. It also was huge!! This restaurant has the best, I mean the absolute best biscuits. They are somewhat like a doughnut, flaky and sweet. The bar is my favorite place to sit, you don't have to wait to be seated, and have the same full service with great conversation and company. The drink prices are only six dollars during brunch. I recommend this restaurant for any occasion and the service in this location is always the best. Our favorite bartender is Rose! Because it is at the mall, parking may be difficult, depending of the time of day that you come. Sundays is very difficult to find good parking but don't forget the garage. Now, let me start with this is my second highly rated steak house in Atlanta and it was better (in my opinion than Ray's) but anybody who had eaten at any good steakhouse place should avoid. I'm going to focus on the food...there were some minor service issues but nothing detracting from the experience like not getting steak knives till we were almost 1/2 done with the steaks. First, winner of the table was the least expensive and exceeded expectations: Steak and fries. For the money at a steakhouse 8/10 Second, French onion soup...solid 8/10. Better than Longhorn steakhouse. Third, au gratin potato side- recommendation from the server: 10/10. Came out lava hot but, after cooling, absolutely delicious. The problem is the 2 of our steak entrees where just not good at all, the prime rib had no flavor and the coffee rubbed filet tasted like candy. Bluntly, I ate 2 bites and didn't take the rest home. If you like sweet steak--get it. The New England lobster bisque also had "lobster meat" that had clearly been frozen...it had that taste. I forgot to check in...and I have all good things to say. We went around 5pm and the wait was 45min so we sat at the bar. The service was pretty good. Our waitress/bartender was sweet and attentive. She gave her drink opinions when we asked for it. We ordered the spinach dip as an appetizer and it was delicious! I ordered salmon, asparagus, and smoked Gouda Mac and cheese. I wasn't expecting such a big piece of salmon, but I'm happy because I had some to take home. My date had the Cumberland salad and a loaded baked potato. He didn't have any complaints. I had a great expereince at the Stoney Rivery Steakouse! I went on a random afternoon for lunch and had seriously one of the better burgers I've ever had. I had the Stakehouse burger, ordered medium, and it was PERFECTLY prepared. This burger comes loaded with Gruyère, caramelized onions, and Thousand Island dressing. Amazing combination of flavors. It came with a slde of parmesan fries which were perfectly crispy and delicious. I am not local to the area, so I won't be able to return frequently, but when I do return, I will absolutely be making a stop at Stoney Rivery for another burger. Check them out! read more

I rarely give negative reviews, but when I do, they are warranted. Last Friday night, three of my friends and I were visiting from Reno. We decided to eat dinner at Stony River. The restaurant was not busy at this time, roughly 7PM. Upon arrival, we noticed that our booth had torn seats and when I looked around that other booths many of the seats were torn as well. Upon sitting down, we ordered an appetizer, artichoke and spinach dip. And after eating it, we told the waiter that it was virtually tasteless. He really didn't give it much attention and proceeded to take our orders. My friend ordered the blue cheese encrusted ribeye, and to me encrusted means the entire steak is encrusted, not just a dollop of crusting on the top. Upon further examination of the steak, we realized it was not a ribeye rather it was a sirloin steak. The reason we know that is my other friend ordered to ribeye and it was totally different than this one. My au jus sauce for my end cut prime rib was so salty that I could not use it and the meat that I poured it on became an inedible due to the salt content. Despite the fact, telling the waiter that we are not happy with the meal, he just didn't seem to care much about our concerns. The meat was subpar, not very hot, the Au Gratin potatoes were more mashed potatoes than thinly sliced potato. Torn seats, uninterested staff, mediocre food, lukewarm meals and more has prompted me to write this review. read more

The positives: Ambiance was very nice. The food was good. For starters, we had a French onion soup and the deviled eggs. We ordered a center cut filet with garlic potatoes and spinach and bleu cheese crusted bone in Ribeye with Parmesan fries. The steaks were cooked to perfect temperature and the potatoes were very flavorful. The server was nice. I ordered a wine that was good paired with the steak. The negatives: With a reservation the wait was about 10 minutes. I ordered a cream spinach and to be quite honest it was the worst I've ever tried.. for some reason it was sour tasting. I let the server know and still was charged for it.. even though it was untouched. The service was slow and seemed our server did not anticipate our needs.. at all. We came here for an anniversary and did not really get to celebrate it. I think for the Price of this establishment you might as well go to Bones, Fleming's, or Macs steakhouse for the better service and for more of a celebration feel. I was in the area for an appointment and had a BIG appetite, so I stopped by not really knowing what to expect. I didn't have a reservation but was still warmly greeted by the host and given a table almost immediately. I was afraid that I would be ushered to the bar (like other restaurants do when they see a single person) but thankfully that didn't happen. I really like booths! Lighting wise, I did think it was a wee bit dark in there but all the tables have candles which is a nice touch. Rose was my waitress and she was really phenomenal and friendly. Usually there about a four-star place but the last couple times they really have missed the mark. Did prime rib on my most recent visit and while every good piece of prime rib needs some fat in it to be good prime rib this had way too much fat in it. And it took forever to get our drinks, oh my gosh it took a while. When the prime rib came out that only did it have too much fat on it, and also really didn't maintain it's warmth. Usually the plates are really hot and that can help but this time it really didn't. I don't mind sending food back but when you have to tell the kitchen how to prepare things, there's a problem. The au jus was not hot and the scalloped potatoes were pretty soupy. So it's definitely not on my need to go back here soon list. I ate here with Co-workers on Monday night for the first time. The food was really good, the service was good, the restaurant was not very busy. My issue started shortly after returning to my hotel. I ended up having an upset stomach all night, and ended up vomiting the following morning. Had a retirement celebration with friends and looking for a steak place for dinner. Wow - have the prices in the ATL area increased for steaks! A friend recommended Stoney River and had been a number of times for lunch and dinner while working in area- so made reservations for a Tuesday night. Hostess's and waitress were great! Once ready to be seated we were offered a booth with a torn seat - asked for a different booth and were quickly accommodated. We took 3 hours for dinner and the waitress had perfect timing - allowing us time to catch up while checking in periodically. She knew the menu and wine list and helped with suggestions. Food? This location of Stoney River is attached to Cumberland Mall and sits on the Cobb Parkway side of the mall. This is one of three Stoney River locations here in the metro Atlanta area. The interior of Stoney River is very lodge-ish with dim lighting, stone fire place, dark woods and furnishings, oversized booths with a mix of tables and a fairly good sized modern bar. The space is one large open dining room with a semi-private room off to the side. The kitchen is open as well, so you can see the magic happen as you patiently or impatiently await the arrival of your steak! Speaking of steak...Stoney River is a steak house at it's core and for good reason! My go-to is the Steak & Fries, as I am a massive Steak Frites fan. Each time my steak is cooked to perfection! In addition to the steaks, I have also enjoyed the French Dip and Steakhouse Burger. The Burger is excellent, but the French Dip left a little to be desired. My absolute favorite thing on the menu is the Steak Rolls, which is their version of an egg roll stuffed with all the goodness and dipped into a spicy ranch! Those egg rolls and them free rolls they serve...best dishes in the house! Service has always been decent. Our servers are always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Parking is no issue as it is at the mall, so you may have to walk a little bit, but you still got you a spot without fail! Overall, Stoney River is a solid spot with good food and tasty drinks. My daughter and I went to pick up an online order from a store in the mall and I started craving the steak egg rolls ($14 for 6) they sell here, so we stopped in. It helped that the daughter has never eaten here before and was happy to eat here. We went in right before 8pm and was told there was an hour and half wait to sit on the patio and a two hour wait to dine inside. There were plenty of empty tables both inside and outside, so I took this to mean they are still social distancing with their customers. We sat at the bar since there were two empty seats there and we could sit there without a wait. The service was slightly slower than I'm use to, but again, I attribute that to us sitting at the bar, but ordering full service. We had completed our entrees before the bartender bought out some warm bread. Actually, we were close to asking for some to-go boxes when she came with the bread. I had the Fish of the Day ($35), which turned out to be a really thin piece of halibut covered in some kind of sauce, it came with broccoli and creamed spinach, which I substituted for sweet potatoes. I also ordered a wedge salad ($7), and no exaggeration, I feel like they brought me out a half a head of lettuce drizzled in blue cheese and maple bacon. It was enough for an entire meal on its own. My daughter got the New York Strip, medium well, but still really pink on the inside. She never sends food back, so I was kind of miffed that she decided to take the $40 steak home to cook some more instead of sending it back to be cooked a little more, but again she never sends food back. Ordered a glass of Riesling for $10 when I know the entire bottle cost $7.99 at Kroger, so there is a plentiful mark up on alcohol. There was a guy seated next to us at the bar, he ordered the mushroom meatloaf and whenever I return, that exactly what I plan to order. Nice, romantic setting if you're on a date, but also very fitting for a last minute mother daughter dinner on a Saturday night. I've been in Metro Atlanta all my life and not sure how I didn't know about Stoney River. It was so great! I came on a Friday during lunch as a birthday treat to myself. I was seated and greeted by my server, Rachel, immediately. She was awesome and I would absolutely ask for her when I return. I ordered the steak tacos and ribeye with Brussels and loaded garlic mashed. My food came out within 10 minutes (again, it was lunch and not crowded). The steak tacos were sooooo good!
