Had a large group of people in private room for customer entertainment recently. 2 Stars may admittedly be a little harsh - I would give 2.5 if that were possible, but the INSANE prices pushed this review down. Ambiance is very, very nice - have to give full credit on that - 5 Stars. Waiter 'took the liberty of choosing some wines which are not very expensive' in his words, and had them on display. The wines were all $150 and above, and I know the wines well - having two of them in my home consistently. They are $50 bottles of wine retail. Ordered two 'Seafood Towers', which were insanely expensive. How do you call them Towers??? Very, very meager portions - especially for the money. I ordered a butchers' cut steak, so no description on the menu as it changes. Waiter never told me it was pepper encrusted. Ordered Medium, of course came out Rare. Took two bites and pushed it away. It was not dry aged or wagyu - so how do you charge almost $100 for a steak??? Final bill came out to $4,700. Sorry - that's outrageous. Amazing food, great service, & lovely ambiance! Parking - there's valet parking which is very reasonably priced & convenient. They'll send you a link when you take them your car then you use the link to request your vehicle. Service - great! The staff is very knowledgeable about items on & off the menu as well as any specials. If you have a question, definitely ask them, they will know. Food - awesome! Nice portions. I parked in the garage parking but valet is also an option. The waiting area is either the bar or a bench outside. So if your waiting for your party hopefully the bar has a place for you. I tried the special lamb shank with risotto and string beans. The lamb shank and string beans along with the artichokes included in the risotto were delicious. The risotto tasted more like rice pudding. Not the texture I am use to. The service was great and the Christmas decorated entrance way and staff made the holidays come alive. My seating unfortunately was in a small corner away from most of this ambiance. 3 tables set for two were stuffed into a small side room. The walls and the ceiling were closed in. We are here to celebrate our Anniversary and it was splendid. Hubby got a perfect steak and tender enough to cut with a fork. The corn is super sweet and the brussel sprouts were perfectly prepared. Overall, it was a solid dining experience with a few hiccups worth noting. The service was decent -- not the best I've had, but our server was very kind and made an effort to ensure we had what we needed. We tried a nice variety of dishes. The Wagyu beef carpaccio was a hit for me but my friend's French onion soup didn't quite land -- she wasn't a fan and ended up not finishing it. We both ordered steaks (mine with a side of crab cakes), and let me just say -- chef's kiss! The steaks were cooked to perfection, flavorful, and tender. On the side, we shared the creamy spinach, crispy Brussels sprouts, and the jalapeño corn brûlée. While we loved the first two, the corn brûlée fell a bit flat -- the flavor just didn't wow us the way we hoped. One odd thing: we were sat in a large booth that could easily seat six people, even though we were just a party of two and could clearly see smaller tables available. Maybe it was a sectioning issue, but it felt like an awkward setup for a more intimate dinner. As for drinks, they were out of a few options we initially wanted, but we still ended up happy with what we ordered. And finally, the rolls -- we had seen some buzz about them online and were expecting something cornbread-adjacent. Instead, they were filled with cheese pockets and didn't quite hit the mark for us. 101 Steak was a pretty good experience. Certainly on the more upscale side. There doesn't appear to be a lot of parking space so the only option is valet. Valet isn't too costly. We made a reservation online, but it disappeared to take walking as well. Our waitress was very friendly. They have a list of specials that aren't on the menu so be sure to listen in case there's something that might peak your interest. We ordered the spicy calamari & shrimp. I felt a little cheated here. There were only about 3 shrimp pieces. The rest was calamari rings and the actual tentacle looking pieces. It was wealth flavored, but I was disappointed that there wasn't more shrimp. We ordered the porterhouse for two and honestly, it could've probably have been a porterhouse for four lol. It was massive but cooked to perfection. We paired it with mac & cheese, asparagus cream, spinach. all of the sides were well prepared and shareable size for two. Overall, a nice experience. The bar is immediately to your left upon entering. The desk person was very nice and friendly. Since it was Thanksgiving we had reservations and were seated immediately. Our server was awesome. We ordered the Thanksgiving menu. Most dishes were tasteful. However the green beans casserole was very lackluster and the appearance was not appetizing as well as the mashed sweet potato dish. Not sure how that side item fit in. Now to items that were out of stock: corn bread stuffing and apple dessert. On to the corn dish it was very sweet, but the mashed potatoes tasted homemade and were delicious. A little disappointed that they sold out of some dishes since we had reservations at 6pm. I ordered salmon and grits for the entree. The salmon was cooked perfect, just haven't had salmon and grits before. Even though our waitress was awesome she forgot my credit card when she brought back my bill. I immediately asked another server to send her to my table, that didn't happen. I looked around for a manager but did not see one. I even went to the bar and asked for a manager, one never came to the table. After about 15 minutes someone from the back brought my card to the table. She stated "your waitress left the card on the desk beside the machine". I initially was going back to the restaurant and try the steak but I am on the fence now and not sure. I went to 101 Steak for a friends birthday dinner. The ambiance is really nice and great for a date night or a nice dinner with family and friends. The server for the evening was nice and did a great job with navigating a large party. I ordered a mocktail to drink and the risotto for my entree. When my food arrived it didn't look at all like what I was expecting. When I shared with the server that I thought I was ordering a mushroom risotto that I saw in the pictures on Google. She went and got the manager and they offered to remake the dish as a mushroom risotto. When the new dish came out it was exactly what I wanted and tasted really good. Sat at the bar and ordered the Maryland Crab Cakes, Sweet Chili Chicken Lettuce Wraps, and the Pork Dumplings to eat. The specialty cocktail of the day was a Cucumber-Mint Martini so I ordered that to drink. I really enjoyed the Crab Cakes and the Cucumber-Mint Martini! I gobbled up the Crab Cakes before I could take a picture (sorry!). The Sweet Chili Chicken Lettuce Wraps were decent, but they had nuts in them which was not specifically called out on the menu. I love steak and this steakhouse is really close to where I live. It's very unassuming and the inside is much larger than it looks on the outside. They do over valet parking, however the parking garage is always pretty empty when I've gone and it's free 3 hours parking. Our server was really nice, but I think the service was a bit slow even though it wasn't even that busy when we went. We got a few different things, we got the carpaccio and oysters for the appetizers and we got the 18 oz 40-day bone-in Kansas City Strip with bone marrow butter. The beef carpaccio was pretty average. I think there were way too many toppings on top of it that covered up the taste and didn't really allow it to shine. The oysters were decent. The steak was definitely the star of the show (we would hope since this is a steakhouse). The steak was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and super juicy. Another great happy hour spot that was just what the doctor ordered for an impromptu girl date. The U bar was perfect and even at 4pm had only a few people so easy to grab a seat. Happy hour drink was the Bees Knees (Gin) delicious and at $7 a pop you were not worried about you purse strings. We each had a salad to start, then tuna tartare ( tuna could have been fresher) and finished off with a piece of chocolate cake and all for under $60! We will def be back for happy hour! Although everyone and even our server were friendly, we thought our meal in general was mediocre for the price we paid. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying top dollars for a good meal, I just get disappointed when it was not up to my expectations. We ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail and the French Onion Soup for appetizers. The shrimp were jumbo as described and were yummy, you can't mess that up. However, my French Onion soup was lacking flavor and don't get me wrong, I'm a French Onion soup connoisseur. The soup was just okay, I ate it because I'm not one to complain about my dinners at any restaurants. For my entree, I ordered the 14oz Bone-in Filet and that too was just okay and my husband ordered the 12oz Filet Mignon. We ordered two sides dishes, the Herb Roasted Mushrooms and Buttermilk Whipped Potatoes (comfort food). We both agreed that our meal/dinner was missing a touch of seasoning. Everything was just bland and I had to ask for salt to add some oomph to my dish. We both ordered our steaks medium-rare and those were cooked good, not over cooked at least. Definitely a business casual atmosphere. Live music playing on Saturday evening. We were seated and Kevin was our server. He was amazing! Recommendations of what's great to check out and also gave us some great suggestions for wine accompaniment. I had the filet lobster Oscar style and my husband got the ribeye. Sides were sharable so we did a baked potato and asparagus and also started off with salads. They gave me a crème brûlée for my birthday which was really good! All the food tasted wonderful!! Delicious, posh, warm, and fabulous! This is how I would describe my first experience at 101 Steak. It is accessible and parking was easy. They offered valet (at least on Saturday night) and there is also a parking deck on site. The ambiance is warm and very metro elegant with large leather booths, intimate lighting, and beautiful decor. It is perfect for date nights, large parties, and special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries. Automatic gratuity is added for parties of 6 or more. The seating is spaced far enough apart so you can have decent conversation and aren't right on top of the parties around you. We sat in the dining room at a table for two. Kevin was an awesome waiter. He provided great recommendations. Definitely try the jalapeño corn brule and cheesecake, but we will talk about the food later. He regularly checked on us and kept our table clean. I appreciated that since the table was for two and can easily get crowded as you progress through each course. He and the other staff members regularly picked up empty or finished dishes so we could enjoy our meal. Now on to the food... the menu is expansive with options for everyone. We started our meal with the margarita, a glass of Zinfandel, and the six spice egg rolls. They were well filled and flavorful, crispy, and served with a Thai chili and a spicy mustard sauce. The alcohol and wine lists are extensive. This restaurant has happy hour. I'll check that out on my next visit. For entrees we enjoyed the 8 ounce filet and the airline chicken breast. The filet was juicy and well seasoned. We got it Oscar style... delish. The chicken was prepared simply, but I appreciated that the jus was thickened and served as a great base for a decent chicken breast. It comes with two sides. A la carte sides are large and served family style. We ordered the asparagus, crispy brussels, and jalapeño corn brule. They range in price from $9-$15, but they can easily serve 2-4 depending on the size of your appetite. The asparagus was tender and well seasoned with a dill sauce. The Brussels had an asian flair with a ginger soy sauce. The jalapeño corn brule was sweet and savory. It was not spicy for those who may be concerned about heat. We finished our meal with dessert, the cheesecake and creme brulee. The cheesecake was served with a bananas foster sauce. It was soft and decadent. I would have liked a few bananas cooked foster style on the plate, but it was served with cream and a strawberry. The creme brulee was cold and creamy with a warm sugar topping. There aren't many experiences that blow me away from the time I enter until I leave, but 101 Steak succeeded. Everything was meticulously curated with top notch service. If you are looking for a surf and turf restaurant with options for any palette, try 101 Steak. You won't be disappointed! Great service and ambiance. Food was good as always. We go 3-4 times per year as a tradition. Over the past 3-4 years we have seen a decline in the patron's attire. I have seen long shorts and tee shirts in the past. Saw it again tonight. The couple next to us made a comment as well. I think a dress code might be a good idea. I used to really dress up to go to 101. I didn't bother tonight and just went more business casual because I expected someone would likely come into the restaurant after they just got off the basketball court. To put a point on this, all of the staff were dressed very professionally except one hostess who was in those hobo washed out looking jeans. When I drop over $400 for myself and my wife and another $70 at the bar, I am hoping to get a more upscale sophisticated feel. Maybe something a little better than long horns. I don't want to sound like a snob. I probably do and I apologize if that is the case. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I think some events and locations should demand more respect. I know it puts pressure on the staff to enforce good manners to the patrons and that is tough. To be honest I am willing to pay more for a better clientele. I enjoy and respect 101. Most of the patrons do as well. I just wish everyone would respect it as much as we do. As they say, it only takes one apple..... We started with an Old Fashion (for the husband) and Mo's Margarita. Both were great beverages. I ordered the Delmonico and my husband had the burger. I didn't taste his burger but the fries were awesome! My Delmonico was perfect! I had horseradish to go with it. The sides are family style and big portions. I had loaded whipped potatoes and jalapeño corn brûlée. They were both so good! Since we were celebrating birthdays, we ordered a special dessert (mousse on the bottom, chocolate on the middle layer and white chocolate on top). Took my wife for our 25th Anniversary. The Good: Food was great! Wedge salad, French onion soup, broiled oyster, and the bone in dry aged ribeye. All were excellent! Very nice atmosphere. The Bad: Bread service, their popovers, were never brought out. Waiter was not great, inattentive. My water glass was empty most of the time. The response on multiple occasions to me saying "thank you" was simply an affirmative "mmhe" not sure how you would spell that, but basically a non verbal "ok". For the sake of food, I will give them another try. If service is the same again, I probably won't give it a third try. read more

With the abundance of steakhouses in this town it's hard to decide which to pick and sometimes how to tell them apart. We're glad we decided to give this place a shot a few wks ago. Reservations were easy to make online and for a Sat night there were plenty of options as of that Wed when we booked. We opted to valet, so not sure if self parking is an option or not. Inside they had live music going on right at the bar, we were seated to the right dining room and it wasn't too loud or disruptive which was nice. Our server was friendly and attentive, my wife appreciated her insight into the gluten free options available. We also appreciate her accountability when she misstated a special of the evening, offered to correct it, and even though we declined the manager still brought out some extra shrimp on the side as a goodwill gesture. Food wise everything was fantastic. These days I tend to only opt for dry aged steaks as that's not something easy to do at home, and this place definitely delivered. I ordered the 24oz dry aged bone in ribeye and 2 of my tablemates opted for the dry aged strip steak. All of them came out perfect and simply delectable. Great steak house but they have a lot of other fantastic items. My husband loves the pork chop and will typically order that over a steak. The lobster bisque and wedge salad are great starters or combine for a really nice small meal. The popovers (bread) are unique and delicious. I was so excited to go to this place because I am a steak connoisseur unfortunately, the steaks are pretty large and I didn't have any place to store leftovers given. I was a traveler. I decided to get the pork chops. My sides were wonderful. I had the risotto and they have a corn dish and it was absolutely fabulous. However, my pork chop Not so much it was burnt. I really had to saw through it. The service however was excellent and the waiter did compensate for that so maybe it was just a bad experience. I will say make sure you have money when you patronize this restaurant it is pretty expensive. I wish I could've tried the steak. read more
