Stonegarden is such a lovely spot for brunch. The service was fantastic and every staff member we interacted with was friendly, kind, and genuinely welcoming. The atmosphere is fun and lively, although it does get pretty noisy, so it can be a little hard to hear at times. The food was delicious and definitely not your average brunch menu. Everything felt thoughtful, unique, and full of flavor. Most items are made from scratch, including the biscuits, the bacon, and even the hot sauce, which really shows in the taste. The Mediterranean tartine was a standout with the perfect balance of salty prosciutto and the sweet balsamic onion ricotta. The house Benedict was excellent and the hollandaise was some of the best I've had. The waffle was good but nothing especially memorable, it felt a little overpowered by the raspberry compote. The cocktails were fantastic too. The Orange Dream was the perfect brunch drink, light, creamy, and refreshing. Overall, a great experience with incredible food and wonderful service. Lots of style with substance to match. Probably the BEST espresso martini I've had in awhile - it comes in a super sexy glass as well. LOCATION Parking can be a little hard to find during peak brunch hours. But if you're willing to walk a block or so, there is a ton of street parking available. THE VIBE The interior is very white, clean, and crisp. Fresh, but not too sterile. Our server was lovely! Very personable. The food took a very long time to arrive. Came here for a Saturday lunch and really enjoyed this absolutely beautiful space. I was glad we had a reservation because it was pretty busy around noon on a weekend. Walking through the doors you are struck by the most beautiful, bright, and open space. Service is friendly, and the tables are not too crowded or too near each other, which I appreciate - although the restaurant was really quite noisy with the sound bouncing off the high ceilings and open space with no curtains or hanging sound baffles. My espresso martini was super smooth and so delicious, one of the best I've ever had. The butterscotch latte that the server recommended was also top-notch. Two of us had a Tartine (toast with fancy things on top) and they were both loaded with toppings and very filling. The Madame Cristo with pork was such a unique twist and also delicious. The menu has a dedicated eggs Benedict section to choose from in addition to their other classic menu items. The house Benedict was incredible--the biscuit was perfect and flaky. They use quality, organic ingredients and you can taste the difference. The crab cake was also wonderful, along with the sauce. The $3 chocolate truffle was just enough for dessert too. The ambience is classy, modern: this place is ideal for a nice casual or working brunch. The bummer was that when we went, their guest WiFi was not working, so we had trouble getting online for our work session. Service was wonderful as our server was friendly, attentive, and patient. I had never heard of this place and randomly came across it when making reservations for valentines day. There's street parking but it's right in the corner and pretty easy to find. Restaurant was clean and neat, I really liked that bar area. Staff was really friendly and accommodating. There was a set menu so no need to order other than drinks. Food and drinks were very beautiful and tasty. One complaint was the wait time between courses but it was a very busy night. FOOD: Their food is delicious! I recommend getting the sippable bone broth. It arrived to our table temperature hot, but after allowing it to cool down, it tasted amazing! I also had their French toast, which was amazing. You can taste the vanilla and cinnamon. The maple syrup compliments the French toast well. I also tried their cinnamon spiced latte, which was slightly strong, but still flavorful. I was happy to know that they could make my drink with oat milk. SERVICE: Our waitress was very professional and knowledgeable about the food items. With my family present, she was patient and flexible. The day we went was a Sunday, which was busy. The staff members seem professional, calm, and there was a lot of teamwork going on. As for parking - it was street parking. I think I parked about a block away from the restaurant. The restaurant is also located near residential area. It is casual dining. The place was very clean, modern, and welcoming. Overall, I would like to come back to try more of their food. Eh. TLDR: Felt like a case of optics over flavor. Stonegarden comes across as a Minnesota attempt at LA-style scratch cooking. We probably should've clocked the risk with that before trying it out. Now, the restaurant is very pretty to look at (especially if you like white), although we didn't get to enjoy the wide, bright windows as we were part of an over-50 crowd relegated to a dark strip near the entrance. (I'm not joking. Despite the place being nowhere near full, everyone in the five-or-so table dungeon strip looked AARP-eligible, while the Millennials got the windows. Hey, us olds need Vitamin D, too.) But, I'm not going to care about the ambiance or service or even (hopefully accidental) ageism as long as the food was good. And, unfortunately, it wasn't great. We were in for brunch. We ended up getting two "savory" omelets, and from reading the other reviews, that may have been our mistake. My wife got the French onion, which our server framed as one of her favorites, and I got the southwestern. The onion was passable but bland, and maybe even a bit in the sweet side (they *really* caramelized those onions), but the southwestern was a gross. Spongy, flavorless eggs with chili reminiscent of Amy's Vegetarian dumped on it. There was supposed to be cheddar in it, and I eventually found that it had been ejected out of one end of the omelet. The guac was decent but unable to save the dish. My wife got the chicken bone broth as our server made a *HUGE* deal about it, and it was normal bone broth. That's it. Our server was friendly, and then disappeared for 20 minutes right when we needed the check. Now, maybe shame on us for not venturing past the omelets. But, one of those omelets was one of our server's recommended items. It sounds like this place is wholesale local, so we hope the best for them (really!), but based on our first visit, this was a one-and-done for us. Bummer. read more

We shared a crab cake, which was excellent. My dining companion used to live in Baltimore and is choosey about her crab cakes- she thought it was one of the best she's had in the Twin Cities. Been passing this place and finally stopped in for brunch for an early Mother's Day celebration. We were seated right away with a reservation. We were hoping for a window but they were reserved for large groups. They got pretty busy around 10am with large groups. They have a pretty decent brunch menu. Their menu is a la carte and the portion is appropriate for one person. The presentation of the food is great. The food is good but nothing out of this world. Service was prompt and Madeline was very nice. The bacon was mostly fat that we got so I didn't even have a bite and have to my daughter. The omelette was very smooth looking that it looked fake. The fried potatoes were great with the right amount of crispiness on the outside and soft on the inside and didn't even need to dip it in their housemade ketchup. The croissant was extra crispy and the raspberry compote added a nice balance of flavors. The french toast was just right with egg and bread. The waffles had a nice crunch but with a softness that my daughter ate the whole thing without sharing with her dad. Go here!! Just saying :) I was looking for a new place (new to me) for my sister and I to enjoy brunch and came across Stonegarden. It was Wonderful!! Location: Great location on a corner with plenty of street parking on this Saturday morning at least. The signage is VERY small but look for the apartment building on the corner and it's housed on the bottom floor. LOTS of windows and a fantastic, calm, beautiful space inside. The decor is soft and clean and lends itself to a wonderful dining experience. They also have reservations which is terrific! Service: Excellent service from the host to the server to food runners and people busing dishes. Friendly, warm, terrific pacing as well! Food/Drinks: It was almost impossible to pick what we wanted to eat since everything looked tasty, but we tried a decent amount for our first trip! We started with the Beef Bone Sipping Broth. I would recommend as a beautiful start to your meal! It is warm and flavorful! We also did the 4-Bs Tartine which is essentially a "toast". It was probably our favorite thing in a meal filled with excellent dishes! It was absolutely incredible flavor, well-balanced, and super satisfying! Next we couldn't decide so had 3 entrees: Norwegian Benedict (beautiful croissant, amazing house-cured gravlox, and a yummy dijon-dill Hollandaise), Biscuit and gravy (big biscuit and lots of gravy with a lovely egg on top - I liked it but felt it was missing the level of flavor I would have expected based on our other dishes), and finally the Belgium waffles (crispy with a nice raspberry compote - also good but I think I would try the French Toast next time). We also had an n/a Bloody Mary (fantastic and fresh with great spice level), French Press coffee (excellent and strong/rich), and a Golden Latte (tasty and not too sweet)! Bit of a homer bias here, but Stonegarden has been a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. From the outside, Stonegarden doesn't look like much, as it's tucked under newly constructed apartments that look like the newly constructed apartments in every other neighborhood, but the dining room is surprisingly large and inviting. It seems that you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but highlights thus far have been the Scotch egg, the French omelette, the chicken commercial and the Norwegian Benedict (and the Espresso Martini). Had the ranchers eggs to go. This was unexpectedly delicious! This is their take on chilaquiles. I wasn't sure what to expect when I opened the box of a mishmash of textures and colors. At first I thought the idea of serving broth was cheap, but this broth is so flavorful and perfect for a cold day in Minnesota. Plus it is only $5. You are encouraged to sip straight from the bowl. The gravlax tartine I had was loaded with tender salmon, flavors popped and textures were great. You can tell the people working here care about this place and are proud of what they serve. This is a hidden gem in south Minneapolis! You walk into a beautiful bright, clean and simple atmosphere. The service all around is top notch from the host, to the bartender, and the server. Everything is made in house. The French press coffee is delicious, the bloody tastes healthy (they use their vegetable broth and homemade tomato recipe), and the food is outstanding. I ordered the ranchers eggs and my partner got the Maryland Benedict which was a crab cake with hollandaise sauce.
