Tri-tip. Garlic mashed potatoes. Breadsticks. Caesar Salad. Yum. Their mini meals are prefect for 1-2 people. Their meat is always cooked perfectly, super soft and flavorful. For those of you who don't like too much dressing on your salads, I would recommend asking for it on the side as they do tend to overdress. The garlic mashed potatoes have whole roasted cloves in it which is SO delicious. I could eat 30 of their breadsticks. It is a family restaurant and you seat yourself and they bring your food out to you. Quick tip? Tri-tip!!! Delicioso :) AND BREADSTICKS!! so good.. The first time I had stonefire grill was at the Irvine location. I went on Friday nights and there was always open tables.. How the system works is you walk in, and you see giant menus scattered across the front before the cashier. It's kinda like corner bakery where you order beforehand, then seat yourself wherever you want. You put the number they give you on the little stand and you wait. And wait... Then the food arrives and you either be super satisfied, or content. Reasoning for 3ish stars was because the ribs we ordered were overcooked and dry..the one I had tried in Irvine was cooked just perfectly and tender with the right amount of sauce. We had ordered the family portion so it came with 12 breadsticks and a humongous bowl of salad, and we also got the Tri-Tip. Tri-tip is hands down my favorite here, chicken.. not so much. Its moist and tender, and seasoned perfectly too! If you come try, the two things i would get for sure is breadsticks and tri-tip! Besides the food, the staff here was super friendly and welcoming. Didn't have to deal with them much besides when ordering and getting our food. Everything else is pretty much self-serve. So I can't exactly rate based off the staff here. Oh! One last note, tip..? Not sure how the system works.. but the first time, we didnt know whether to leave tip or not on the table because we had already paid and everything up front.. I guess its really up to you because they have a tip jar up front when you order.. and i never see people leave tip on the table, but we did because we were confused and felt bad because the employees were still serving/cleaning up after us.. so i guess its based off of how generous you feel. I feel like everytime I come here its busier. I just came on a Friday night around 7:30 and the line to order was out the door. The food here is consistently good. The works pizza is delicious. The salads are great and giant. I love the tri tip. The best is the lemon garlic chicken. So much garlic it's awesome. So talk about yumminess. I didn't know what to expect when walking into this joint. My sister and I decided to go here because she had an interview nearby. So the walk-through went like this. Unlike most other restaurants, I have nothing against this place. The food is good and this is a great family place. I definitely recommend ordering their "our favorite" meal because it's kind of a sample of lots of their major foods. It includes tritip or ribs, a salad, 2 sides or a pizza, a whole chicken, and 18 breadsticks. They also serve sandwiches and pastas. They have a huge variety and, I must say, 5 visits won't even be enough to try everything. Food is served really quick as well. The way this place works is that you walk up and order and find your own table, unless you're a table of like 7 or up. If so, you talk to one of the servers and they will find a table for you. Disappointing is the word for it! Pros The bread sticks were tasty, Staff was friendly. There are "group pleasers" that are for larger groups making the restaurant a good place for larger groups. The restaurant layout is spacious. Cons My mother in-law and I were served our food, but my wife had to wait more than 5 minutes for hers. Food order for a table should be served at the same time. We had to ask for bread sticks to be delivered to us even though they were a part of two of our meals. Garlic mashed potatoes were bland. Lemon and Garlic Salmon was a bit too lemony. Steak and cheese sandwich was served warm, but not hot. Mediocre. Nothing on their menu is bad, but none memorable as well. It's a place I go when I'm close, I don't have any ideas and honestly when I lack effort. In the past, the value to price ratio was pretty decent all around. It was new, different and fresh. They had good lunch prices, reasonable dinner pricing, and an awesome stimulus package special on to go orders. It was wonderful when the price was 22, but was raised to 24.... and now it's 28! To management, your bland overcooked menu that was the same when you opened is not price inelastic! On to the food, when you order the tri-tip, order medium rare for medium well and medium for well done. There is no true medium let alone medium rare. Its dry and needs the sauce! If management wants tips on how tri-tip should taste, they should take a trip up to San Luis Obispo and try Firestone grill. Makes the tri tip at Stonefire taste like dogfood! Stonefire was one of our go to places for takeout so it's with much disappointment that I'm writing this bad review. Last night, we ordered the roasted veggie pizza and specifically told the order taker that we want the one with cheese (they offer a cheeseless one). After waiting extra 10 minutes for the pizza (because it's was just being finished up), we got home to find that they had given us the pizza with no cheese and it was cold. We had to doctor the pizza ourselves by adding our own cheese and reheating it in the oven. I'm very disappointed that not only was our order incorrectly taken (after 3 reminders by us) and that it was cold and tasteless. read more

Got dragged here by Heather S after she raved about it. They have weekday lunch specials (chicken tortilla soup and salad, sandwich and side, pizza and salad, etc) for under $7, though it doesn't include a drink. I didn't see fries on the menu, which I thought was weird. To be fair, I didn't get to really read the menu because it was getting busy and the cashiers were trying to hustle everyone along. I tried the chicken tortilla soup, which came with my choice of salad. I picked the house salad with ranch. It also came with a breadstick, which is supposed to be their signature item. My soup was pretty standard. Tortilla soup with chunks of chicken, strips of corn tortilla and a few odd pieces of avocado. It's similar to the soup at Wood Ranch, though WR's chicken had far more flavor. The bread was just okay. It's standard pizza dough with butter, garlic salt and parmesan. Not better than Olive Garden, so that's telling you something! The "side salad" was actually really big and it was shockingly made from romaine, shredded carrots, red onion and cucumber. My salad was really dry, but I guess that's why it's healthy! Service was quick, despite us picking a table tucked in the corner. I would come back if I were already in the Hastings Ranch area, but I definitely wouldn't drive from Monrovia just to eat it. My office has catered lunch from Stonefire on several occasions and I always thought the food was good, but this was the first time I actually dined inside the restaurant. I had no idea you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you; not that I mind. In fact, you can get as many napkins and bbq sauce as you want from the self service station. My GF and I weren't super hungry so we split a full slab of ribs, which I must say were quite good (fall off the bone tender) and very reasonably priced. I've heard good things via friends and family who had graduations catered (sidebar, they also cater weddings apparently) and wanted to give them a try. The food was pretty damn good. The tri tip was extremely moist and tender, the chicken was seasoned appropriately (not overpowered with hypertension and diabetes), the appetizer meatballs were delicious and I even enjoyed the cauliflower dish (forget the name) but very good. What separates this restaurant from others is there attention to details and the great...I mean fantastic customer service. My first review on yelp! I visited Stonefire Grill a few weeks after they opened. I was eager to try this place since my coworker told me about it (many, many, many times). We ordered the bbq chicken and the brisket along with a side of beans and mashed potatoes. We also got 2 beers. A few seconds after we sat down a waiter came and asked was everything fine. And then another waiter came. And another. The staff was all high school kids so most likely it was their first job. I could live with over eager waiters. Then the food arrived. My first thought was ok...... thats it? No presentation. Ok, I can get past that. I have a habit of cutting my chicken open to make sure its done. This is probably a good habit. This chicken was anything but done. Completely red inside. I didn't even bother to taste the brisket. I was done! The manager happened to be there and she came by to ask was everything alright. She saw my uneaten chicken asked what was wrong. I showed her the raw chicken and she said "all of our chicken looks like that". Really? She asked me could she bring me something else. I politely told her no thank you. She kept asking and asking. She suggested we try one of their pizzas. " The pizzas are fantastic. Try our alvocado pizza! Its great!" She refunded our meal and gave us free beer and pizza. She had me at free beer. She was right. The pizza was great. The best thing they have going. If it wasn't for her I would have given this place 1 star. She made sure we were happy before we left. She was not going to let us leave until she made sure we pleased. I'm not sure I will go back. I've been to this location several times already and I definitely approve this place for big parties or just casual quick dinners. The environment of the restaurant is very spacious with an fairly big outdoor patio and a large indoor dining area. This place can definitely accommodate for big parties. The portions is more than worth what they are at Stonefire Grill. I definitely recommend an order of the BBQ CHOPPED SALAD with either tri-tip or chicken. Depending on the size you order, it will definitely be a crowd pleaser and a great starter for the meal. The bowl is hearty with great amounts of fresh ingredients (mixed greens, black beans, roasted corn, carrots, red cabbage, cilantro and jack cheese, tossed with tortilla strips and topped with tomatoes). Top it off wit some BBQ sauce and you will be a fan. Pizza's is another worthy thing of trying. It might take a little longer due to the fact that they straight up make it and bake it on order. I have tried the Stonefire Favorite, which is a different kind of taste especially with the use of pesto as a sauce, but it definitely brings great flavor with a more healthy vegetarian feel. I'm a big hawaiian pizza lover so I also got to try the Stonefire Aloha which hit the spot for my pizza side in me. The pizza's here are definitely alright, worth a try and a good thing to share amongst a group of friends and even family. It brings variety to the table. The Meats. Simply, juicy, flavorful, tender, and worth the quality. The tri-tip is one of my all-time favorite things to order because out of multiple instances this have seem to never go wrong. Depending on the size, you have a tendency to receive a good amount of meat for what you pay. You can order the tri-tip as Mesquite BBQ or Pepper Garlic both of which depend on your taste. Both are great! Order it MEDIUM for MAXIMUM JUICYNESS. The baby-back ribs is something I don't usually order only cause ribs can often be pricey. I'm giving this a three as there was not much wrong with it, but it did make my 'won't be back' list. I went here because two people I know raved about it. It's not my style restaurant. Self serve does't appeal to me...so - my mistake. The photo of the soda bar should give you a heads up. It's a do-it-yourself type place. This is a bit like Sizzler, stand in line, order food, pay, get your own drinks, plates and utensils and wait for food. The employee at the cash register was super helpful (kudos) and that was good as the menu is a bit overwhelming. Gordon Ramsey says a menu shouldn't have to be explained. We ordered the "sampler platter" which we could not find on the menu because it isn't on the menu. I think it was 4 ounces of chicken, 4 ounces of tri-tip and 3 pork ribs. Very noisy, with hard floors and hard tables, not a place to linger, in fact, we went outside, where it was a bit quieter. When we went to get our plates from the stack, the first plate was dirty, smudged, and so was the second. So much for first impressions. The Greek salad was good and a generous serving. The bread sticks were very good but oily. As for the meats, the chicken had an off taste to me, like it had been marinated in something. It wasn't like it was spoiled, but one bite told me, 'no more of this' the tri tip was cooked as ordered, med rare, but tasted average. Not as good as the week-end take out at How's market. The pork ribs were OK but only OK. The restrooms were clean and large. This place might be a step up from Sizzler but I won't be back. read more

This place is always packed. We came on a whim when we couldn't decide on lunch. After having stopped in to our local Trader Joe's we chose to give this place a try. The set up is very different compared to the typical dining standard of being seated and being served your meal. They are taking a different approach, and I have to say it sits very well for us as a family. Take a gander at their menu or have one of the employees help you decide and get familiar with the scope of things, place and pay for your order, take your number and grab a seat. Stop by the drink station to fill up on your beverage's and gather your essentials; utensils, napkins, Stonefire's bbq sauce and the to-go boxes (you may need them). We chose two entrées that came with a side salad of your choice, which was rather on the large side and an additional side item. We went with their garlic bread. The bread was tasty! My gut was saying more but my mind was saying, "Easy on the carbs, Novy." The recommendations of the popular house tri-tip and lemon garlic salmon was really delicious. My husband's meat was cooked perfectly and to his likely. That says a lot especially for someone who is an advocate of red meat. My fish was cooked perfectly. The wait times however, needs a whole lot of improvement. We waited well over 20 minutes after finishing our salads before getting our main meal. Overall, our experience was pleasant, the food was tasty and the ease of packing up your own leftover's and getting what you need without having to flag staffers to do it for you was all in all, what won us over. Pretty pretty good. Went here on a Saturday night and got the combo dinner that they offered. I got the lemon garlic salmon and the boyfriend got the lemon garlic chicken. With our meal we got bread sticks and a caesar salad. Everything was really good. However we are amateurs so we didn't order correctly. Once we sat down and waited for our food we saw all the other amazing dishes that were offered. While our meals were tasty and flavorful we realized maybe we should have tried it BBQ style since we were after all at a BBQ place. Obvious rookie mistake. It was a good overall experience however and we will be back. This place would be ideal for a large family which is what this place boasts. You order up front, they give you a little card to place on your table and people come out with your food. It is very well run, efficient, and there is no confusion over what you do and what you let the wait staff do. While BBQ seems to be their forte you can also partake in their selections pizzas, sandwiches, and salads. OK, so categorizing Stonefire as a BBQ restaurant, a pizza joint, or whatever, then comparing them with restaurants that actually specialize in those items (Lucille's, Luggage Room, etc.) seems a bit unfair. Actually, I don't really know how to categorize Stonefire myself, but I don't get the impression that they're targeting the enthusiasts of certain foods. To me, Stonefire is like an office complex cafeteria in a more social yet informal atmosphere. A wide variety of good but not quite spectacular food, where it's the convenience of said variety available to you that is the selling point. Hope I didn't make it sound like their food is mediocre, because so far, everything's been pretty tasty. The dining room is of a pretty good size, with tables for larger groups as well - possibly good for something like a child's birthday party. The tri-tip and ribs are definitely my favorites, both tender and full of flavor. Not exactly what you'd get at actual BBQ restaurants (Phil's, Gus's, etc), but still enjoyable for what it is. Have had some of the salads and pizzas as well, all pretty solid. Service has been good to great, especially considering that Stonefire categorizes themselves as a fast-casual concept. You can often find the crew scouting around the dining area, checking to see if everything's been good, if you needed refills, etc. One time, I ordered a Cobb Salad minus bleu cheese (as I hate bleu cheese). Cobb Salad came out, but had bleu cheese in it... and they actually took back the perfectly good salad to replace it with something that catered to my dumb demands. Should they have gotten the order correctly the first time? Yes. But for them to notice the error and offer me a new salad, while I was still pondering whether or not to just suck it up and eat the bleu cheese? I think that deserves some recognition. Anyhow, it's a place worth returning to. A begrudging 4. I don't usually go to these types of chain restaurants, but found ourselves here at a birthday party. I was expecting just a fancier looking Pat 'n Oscars, but I was thoroughly surprised by the quality and value of the food. Even though it's more of a self-service type of restaurant, the service was impeccable. They were super busy on Saturday evening, but Adam up front was super helpful to help seat our table of 8 adults and 2 kids. Herbert was an attentive and friendly server as well. We ordered the "Our Favorite" which is supposed to feed 6, but because the portions are large, we only added on an extra whole chicken and the roasted whole cauliflower. Everything was pretty good-we also had the caesar salad, tri tip (medium rare), chicken, cole slaw, mashed potatoes and breadsticks. I would order any of these items again, and there was something for everybody. With 8 adults, we still had leftovers to take home! She easily helped us place our semi-chaotic order for 20, suggesting meals that would best accommodate everyone's tastes. Meal service was timely and the food delicious. We were helped in the dining room by a couple of different servers but Jarrod was excellent at checking back and making sure everyone was happy with their experience. So I went here for the first time with a group of friends. This place has a nice twist in family dining. We ordered the Stonegrill Favorite and it fed a party of 9 with leftovers! Other yelpers said this place is a bit over priced, but i think the secret is to come here with a large party. We had the caesar salad, roasted chicken, slab of baby back ribs, and the mashed potatoes. Caesar Salad - It was alright, I think it lacked a bit of seasoning, but the vegetables were very fresh and the portions was very generous. Roasted Chicken - My least favorite dish, but it was very tender. Lacked a bit of flavor though. Baby Back Ribs - These ribs were pretty good. The sauce was good. It was tender, but at the same time still had a nice texture. I've had better, but for the price, this can't be beat. Mashed Potatoes - My favorite. This side dish was awesome! If i would recommend one thing I would recommend this. Cheesy, garlicy, heavenly. I'm excited for my next visit. My friend said their tri tip muy delicioso. Can't wait! Food portions are huge & pricing is affordable! Staff was extremely awesome! Olivia, the cashier, was super nice & very accommodating! Today was my first time & she explained to me how everything works. We sat down & Edwin brought us our food. He was awesome! I ordered a small marinara pasta with grilled chicken. It was okay. Very dry & bland. My boyfriend ordered a French dip. He loved it! He said it was one of the best French dips he ever had. & we definitely had to order their bread sticks. Mmmm pretty bomb! I used to order the cauliflower with meat sauce and sub in pesto sauce. The cauliflower is such a great substitute for pasta when you are doing low carb, and the pesto was amazing substitution when you're vegetarian. This was my go to comfort food. I miss it so much. I came here after searching around on yelp for what good to eat in Pasadena. I have to give it a 5-stars for the excellent service. Attentive staff, and food came out quick. I would give a 4-stars for the food. I ordered the tri-tip and my bf ordered the ribs. Food was decent, my tri-tip was moist and soft, but it's sort of plain to my taste, it could have been better if it came out a little bit hotter. I can't say anything for the ribs, because I'm not a ribs' fan. My boyfriend said it was alright, but did agree that it could have come out hotter. Overall I do enjoy the visit there. read more
