So today was going good , everything up until midways through the food my fiancé found a piece a hair in her salad it killed our whole appetite... sucks because we noticed after all the guys working with long hair don't have hairnets we didn't even want to make a scene we just acted like we were full packed a to go box of leftovers which we threw away ... others were around eating enjoying their meals we didn't wanna ruin it for the rest of the customers ..... plus I had my 1 year old son we ordered him a kids meal chicken strips and yeah I didn't even want him eating it after all ... we appreciated they clean the high chair and all for my son to the best they could some stains you just can't get out but the poor quality in food was just upsetting especially when I like their food here I usually went to the one in Rancho Cucamonga but I'm out towards Pasadena area so we can here . read more

This place is awesome for a lil date. I'd say you can have an amazing time, good food and drinks for 2 all under $75 ( you can have a great time for less than $50 as well!) The service is great and I've had no problems every single time I've come in! I like getting the pesto pasta, tri tip , and some wine! Enjoy! read more

Came here for the first time with my family and wow....it was an awesome experience. I loved their tri tip steak. We had it cooked medium or medium rare where it was still pink and juicy. It was so good. I can't stop thinking about it right now as I type this review. Since it was my first time here, ordering food is a little different. First thing you'll notice is how cluttered their menus is, there is soooo much things on their menu that I can be overwhelming and of course once you have made up your mind. You order the food already at the cash register and pay for it and have a seat. We ordered chicken, tri tip steak, green pasta (forgot what it was called), salad and garlic bread. There was 7 of us and wow...those orders filled us up a lot and there was still leftovers after. First impression of the steak was awesome! It was sooooo juicy as it entered my mouth and as it chewed. The butter they put on the steak complimented the taste as well. Match that steak with salad and you have a balanced meal! It was such an awesome experience. I'll recommend this place to anyone! And will be back once I'm in town again. Try the tri tip steak! Well recommended read more

the pasta was flavorless and runny and it didn't come out with the rest of the food I had to ask twice where it was so we ended up having to get it Togo and leave. We asked if it came with chicken thought they upcharged us and it never came with chicken either. I didn't really know what to expect coming to this place I didn't know it was like high end fast food calling it "fast paced". It was kind of a disappointment and I was really excited I heard it was really good and the breadsticks were great. That part is true breadsticks were good read more

I was looking to order holiday meals for some construction workers as a thank you. I saw the negative reviews regarding wait times and quality of food here but enjoyed stonefire grill a few years ago so I thought I would give them a chance! Unfortunately we ended up waiting 30 minutes past the order ready time even though we placed the order the night before. There were a lot of other cars there with people waiting (and even one person yelling) about their delayed orders. The people I was gifting the food to have a set meal time so this was very inconvenient and looked bad. We ordered the tri tip for 2 for each person and it was a good portion of breadsticks, tri tip, and salad wraps but I wish the sides were larger. read more

I came by for lunch with my girlfriend and was looking forward to trying their tri-tip. I went ahead and ordered the chicken and tri-tip combo. Before I could even finish my sentence the cashier asked if I wanted it from the lunch menu, in a pretty annoyed tone. I said no and when we finished ordering and he read the order back to us, he had only gotten me down for the chicken. I corrected him and said that I wanted the combo with the tri-tip. He ended up putting the order in for the regular size and not the petite, which he would have understood from the beginning if he was actually listening. We found a seat and my food came out pretty quickly. Unfortunately, there was quite a delay between receiving my food and my girlfriend receiving hers. Of course, by the time her dish came out mine had gotten lukewarm. The tri-tip was actually pretty good. They cooked it to my liking and it was nice and tender. I did not care much for the chicken. It came with the skin on which I was not aware of when ordering, so it kind of grossed me out. Just a personal preference. What was really annoying was the fact that my metal serving plate was incredibly warped. It was completely unstable when I was trying to cut into the proteins. Please, if you're going to be serving food on metal platters then make sure they're in good shape. I had on the farro salad on the side which was tasty and refreshing. Their breadsticks were also delicious as well. The food was a pretty big portion and well worth it for the price. Hopefully, they improve on their service, making sure the food for multiple people comes out at the same time, and the presentation. I don't think I would go out of my way to dine here again. read more

Stonefire Grill - Was served my food on an incredibly warped platter...when I finished half of my meal it ended up looking like this. Ridiculous. - American Near Me - Pasadena, California

Love the salads here! They have a great variety of salads to choose from and many more size options than most restaurants. I always go with the southwest salad with chicken. The cilantro dressing is sooooo tasty and I love that it comes with a different cheese than most southwestern salads do. When you order to go as I always do, you get a giant bag of tortilla strips on the side that appear to be house-made! The sizes are mini - large. Note, a "medium" is over $20 and feeds multiple people, so pay attention to the size you order. Every time I order from here, I'm usually coming back ravenous after a long day at court (Lawyer here! Lol) and 0 food in my stomach, so I go with the small. Would be enough to share (it comes with 2 forks), but it's also the perfect size for one if you haven't eaten all day and are starving. The takeout area at this location can get a bit disastrous. I'll be told 15-20 min on the phone, I'll want that long before leaving my office right across the street, only to show up and still wait another 15-20 min. Only reason for my 4/5! read more

I came in here with relatively modest expectations (for reasons that I believe should be pretty obvious) ... to my surprise, those expectations were exceeded. I ordered the Pepper Garlic Tri Tip and Rib Combo plate, which included a salad of my choosing (I opted for the Greek Salad) and Garlic Breadsticks. The salad and breadsticks were surprisingly well-executed in quality (well done Stonefire Grill, well done). Although the ribs were admittedly not cooked to "fall-off-the-bone" standards, they were nonetheless still quite pleasant to consume (as were the tri tips). For $16.79, I think the meal was priced fairly considering quality and portion size. Although the format of the restaurant involves you paying up front at a register prior to receiving your meal (along with various self-serve restaurant design elements), I am obligated to note that the staff is quite good about providing friendly service as part of your dining experience (particularly the bearded gentleman who appeared to be the manager). There is plenty of parking out front. But if you don't feel like driving, the restaurant is short walk away from the Sierra Madre Villa Metro Gold Line Station. The seats inside the restaurants are quite comfortable (the ones in the outdoor dining area look decidedly less comfortable). All things considered ... I don't think 4/5 would be an unfair rating, but I'm going to err on the kinder side and award the 5th star because the staff was so pleasant to deal with. I will be honest and say that I still prefer going to Lucille's for ribs, but Stonefire Grill really deserves a visit if you haven't given them a try. read more

I generally love Stonefire Grill, but I've had less-than-stellar experiences at this particular location. The staff is friendly, it's easy to park, and I had no problems with the service. The two main issues are as follows: 1.) The food. I ordered chicken and it looked extremely pink and undercooked. For an establishment that offers steak and meat, it was extremely unsettling to order chicken that looked like it could make me sick. I ended up not eating most of the chicken, which was a waste of $$ 2). The environment (as others have mentioned) feels more like fast food than a restaurant. Perhaps this is a fault of my own expectations, but I was hoping for a more intimate environment as opposed to the eat and leave feeling this restaurant location provides. That being said, I have picked up food from Stonefire several times before for takeout and generally found the food delicious. However, my experience dining in the restaurant was less than great. read more

I've never in my life left a restaurant because of how bad it smelled. I had to sit as far away from the kitchen as possible to avoid the disgusting oil smell that was coming from it. The food tasted mediocre but the smell is what got me to get up and leave, the mashed potatoes were actually good that's why I'm giving it a 2 star and not a 1 star. But as I was eating the pasta it smelled just like the kitchen did. read more

I'm so totally disappointed right now. I used to live right down the street from this place and prior to the pandemic, would frequently pick up dinner from Stonefire Grill. I loved their salads (especially the Cartwheel Salad), Pasta and Pizza. When the pandemic hit, they drastically reduced their menu and many of my favorites were suddenly gone, including the Cartwheel Salad. I then moved away last year and no longer even had a Stonefire Grill near me. Today I happened to be in the area and noticed that my beloved Cartwheel Salad was back on the menu and had to get it for dinner since it had been almost 4 years. I get home all excited to enjoy however when I opened the lid, the ingredients were rather sparse (barely any olives, radishes, chickpeas etc.). It was mostly just a big bowl of lettuce. On top of that, about a 1/4 of the way through, I notice a strand of black hair in my salad. It obviously was not mine because I have light brown/dark blonde hair. I completely lost my appetite. I paid close to $15 for this salad and it was a complete disappointment. 2 stars instead of 1 because the young lady at the takeout counter was great! However with a disappointing and ultimately unsanitary salad means I most likely won't be back the next time I'm in the area. So sad. This place used to be awesome. read more

By far, the worst customer service for to-go orders I've ever experienced. I won't spare you the details because I honestly don't even want to relive it by typing it out. To-go orders aren't tricky. Hard to find the entrances and parking can be difficult. What I like about this place is that you order and pay first, then you get the food sent to you so you don't have to worry about the bill later(just make sure to tip them at the front)! The patio is nice to enjoy air. This place isn't fancy but the food is filling and okay to take home for leftovers. My friends enjoyed the bread, the tri tip, salads and garlic mashed potatoes. They disliked the vegetarian pizza. The workers try to keep the place clean. Next time I come back I'll definitely not eat dinner beforehand so I can enjoy the full experience All of the workers are very friendly and helpful. Thank you Haydee for the exceptional customer Thanks for showing good initiative and everything Nicole! I am very amazed with your great hospitality skills. read more

Update: one day later, my jaw is aching from how tough the tri-tip was. I still consider it very tasty. But be prepared that this could happen. Or it might just be completely fine for you because it varies how tough or soft the meat they get is. You order at the register and then the food is taken out to you. I got the 6 ounce bbq tri tip and added salad and breadsticks to make it a meal. There was a good portion of meat, and it was very tasty. It was a bit tough. I asked for it to be cooked medium. I'm not sure if getting it medium rare with make it less tough. I don't usually eat tri-tip so I don't know if this is a cut that's supposed to be tougher. You just need to have strong teeth to eat this. Outdoors was lovely. And the service was nice. The salad was fresh. Breadsticks were tasty. read more

Party of 5 on Mother's Day. Quick seating upon arrival as the lines upon entrance were mostly for takeout/pickup for a very busy day. Ordered spinach dip, family meal of pepper garlic Tritip (medium done) with gorgonzola butter served with caesar salad and breadsticks, the works pizza without sausage and substituted with black olives. Ordering process (QR code presented at the table or at the front register) was very odd. Food was not the best. Disappointed with the pepper garlic Tritip as it tasted bland, lacking the pepper garlic flavor but was very tender.  The pizza and salad were the only food items that had flavor. Overall disappointed. Sad to say, I will not return. read more

Yesterday ordered a 1/2 basket bread sticks ,personal bbq chopped salad with tri tip . And a tri tip meal. While placing our order up comes the tip recommendations . My wife chose no tip. The tri tip meal showed up as well as the bread sticks. The people sitting next to my wife said they have waited for the salad for 30 minutes. In the San Fernando valley we have enjoyed the business . This tip thing before service is dumb as hell. Decided to check this place out as all of my friends have raved about their food and excellent service (particularly from a young gentleman who I believe goes by the name of Andrew Lee)...I live in DTLA but I decided to make the trek to see if this place was worth the commute. Luckily for me I believe I was being helped by the gentleman who my friends have raved about... First thing I noticed as he approached my vehicle was his smile. (If you're reading this review at a later date, to put into context, this occurrence was during the Covid-19 Pandemic so social distancing was/is heavily enforced). Not knowing who I am, or even if I was an attractive individual, I could clearly see the smile on ANDREW's face as nothing but sincere and professional. If I wasn't in a relationship I might've considered leaving him my number but I digress. I had ordered two salmon dishes and a quinoa power bowl per his recommendation and I couldn't believe what my mouth was telling my brain. Andrew's food recommendation truly hit the G-spot of my mouth as he described each dish to its perfection. The salmon wasn't over cooked or dry and his advice on getting it with the garlic sauce was a winner. The quinoa power bowl wasn't too mushy and it had just the right amount of kick from the chipotle sauce. I definitely will go back to try their cauliflower as it was also recommended to me by another friend. Hopefully I'll be blessed to be served by the young dashing Andrew Lee again. It's very rare to find professionalism displayed at its finest nowadays and Stonefire Grill you guys have yourselves a keeper. 5 star for food 10 star for service by Andrew Lee. read more

To go/pick up a few days ago Food 3.5 Customer service at pick up ~4 Customer service on the phone just now, -1 (negative 1) Been coming to this location for years - eat in and take out. Always had a decent experience (good enough to come back) until now. This last order, there was no sauce on our Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo - pasta, chicken, some parmesan cheese, and cooking oil. I made the apparent mistake of waiting a couple of days to call and see if I could get a partial credit. First girl who answered the phone told me that their food is supposed to be eaten within 48 hours and after that, perishable stuff like sauce will "break down". I told her that it wasn't a question of how it tasted, rather, there was no sauce to begin with. She then alleged that it's normal for their sauce to disappear over time. (SMFH!) When I told her that matter doesn't disappear like that she said she would transfer me to a manager. The next guy who answered the phone listened to my story and then said he couldn't help me because he wasn't a manager (wtf?!). Then he proceeded to put me on he'll-go-away-eventually-HOLD. After about 10 minutes, I decided to hang up and write this. The rest of our order was OK. I've worked customer service jobs for over 30 years, including a few in the food service industry. The customer service I received today was a load of shite... SMH... read more

Please don't bother going to or ordering from Stonefire. I guess they are also a casualty of Covid. Prior to the pandemic they were great in house and delivery. Since they have reopened EVERY TIME I have gone in for takeout they have "forgotten" something on the order. EVERY TIME!!!! Not to mention one time getting the chicken and it was raw inside. The last two days I ordered Stonefire from Door Dash, yesterday around 4pm was told delivery would be in an hour. After 50 minutes they send a message that they are too busy and canceled our order. Today the order was placed at 3:30 and again an hour delivery was quoted. AGAIN at the 50 minute mark we get the "too busy" cancelation notice. I don't live far from Stonefire and when they canceled I drove to the restaurant and there is no way they were too busy unless no one in there waiting for takeout and less, than 6 tables in use constitutes Rush Hour. Thank you Stonefire for terrible service! read more

I've always loved Stonefire. We love the BBQ chopped salad with the tri tip. We've been there 4-5 times this past year and have noticed a decline in quality. Specifically, the tri tip is dry and tough. Seems like the overdone roast is trimmed with the end pieces chopped for the salad. The breadsticks were also not fresh. Today the salad did not have cilantro. Service is polite and efficient as usual. read more
