Far far far from Phil's bbq in terms of quality. Had the lemony chicken and baby back ribs. Although the meat for the baby back ribs were nice and tender, it lacked flavor. I got sorta sick of it towards the end. Chicken was a bit dry for me. My favorite was the house salad. It was soo refreshing and I loved the dressing, very distinct and full of flavors. Garlic bread wasn't even garlicky, wasn't warm, wasn't soft and fluffy. All in all, I won't be coming back. 2 stars for the salad! read more

This is my favorite place. I'm not sure what else there is to say about the service, food, and environment. I'm visiting my cousin and he highly recommended this spot and I can see why. We got the tri tip combo for 2 (2 orders for the 4 of us). It came with delicious breadsticks that had a garlic pesto kind of sauce and salads. We ordered the traditional Caesar and our cousin recommended we try the cartwheel which was also unique and amazing. You can get the salad chips on the side to the cartwheel if you'd like. Then out came the delicious mash potatoes still warm and cooked perfectly. Because we got two orders we tried both the BBQ tri tip and the pepper garlic tri tip. If i went back i would have asked for some more of the pepper garlic spread for the tri tip. Highly recommended and likely going back before returning home. :) read more

We contacted Stonefire Grill in Pasadena about 2 weeks ago for an office catering event, and I am so glad we did. Clinton assisted with my order over the phone and was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. We had some special requests with this catering order, and Clinton was very accommodating. Overall the service was excellent, the delivery was prompt, and the food was delicious. My boss was happy with the quality, and there was something for everyone. I love Stonefire Grill. I think I've tried just about everything on the menu. The best things are the tri tip which is comparable to Wood Ranch and the Garlic chicken which is always moist and falling off the bone. Even the salmon is pretty good. The salads are plentiful and the breadsticks are great. They also have the best brownies for around 3 bucks. Its a huge brownie that is fudgy and moist, almost like a flourless chocolate cake. Soo good! Carrot cake is just meh for me. The pizzas are ok. We usually stick to pepperoni and sausage which are sliced little discs of cooked sausage. Service has always been friendly for both dine in and take out. The family deals are reasonable and you get plenty of food for your buck. read more

I have dined at the Stonefire Grill several times because my sons think it's a great place to have salads. But I begin to wonder about their food safety... On two different occasions, we ordered their grilled chicken breasts and the both times, the chicken was not fully cooked. The center of chicken was pink and even bloody. The first time, I figure a cook might have made a mistake and had them serve another chicken breast when a manger (?) offered another serving of chicken. Then yesterday, my family stopped for a lunch, and I ordered the grilled chicken and salads. During our lunch, my son took a piece of the grilled chicken, and he immediately spitted it out. The piece of chicken he showed me was uncooked chicken breast...pink and bloody. Thankfully he didn't get sick from the uncooked chicken. If the food safety is a concern...think twice before dining here... read more

I have visited 3 more times since the first review, and can say that it must have just been a rough day in the kitchen the first time i went. I have gotten a medium pepperoni pizza, an all american burger again but this time with no lettuce, and just got a chicken pesto sandwich today. The pepperoni pizza was delicious, the all american burger could still use some more of a flavor blast, but taking the lettuce off made the burger a lot more enjoyable and less slimy than the first time (it is shredded lettuce, not the big pieces of lettuce). The Chicken Pesto sandwich has been my favorite out if all the options, and the chips/sriracha ranch dipping sauce combo is fantastic. I've ordered take-out every time, and it has always been polite service over the phone and my food has always been ready right when i get to the restaurant. I look forward to trying more options from this establishment in the future. read more

Love their garlic breadsticks. I had a graduation party for 22 people but they don't take reservation in advance..that's why I give it a 4 stars. However, I believe the manager name is Jason who service us with great profession and friendliness of making us feel welcome while we were waiting awhile for our tables. He knew we were hungry and thirsty coming back from a long day, so he offered us breadsticks and drinks while we were waiting. Now that's what I called great service and comforting. So I've taken the liberty of dining at the Stonefire Grill half a dozen times before rating it. I would like to share with you the results of my reconnaissance... The food was consistently delicious. Their ribs are tasty and tender. Their chicken dishes are well seasoned and juicy. The salads are also good... even the Cole slaw is good! How rare is that? Please note that this is not a full service dining establishment, so be prepared to get your libations/beverages yourself. This isn't bad, as you get the opportunity to burn off a few calories between dishes! Also, I would like to add, the bread sticks are great! This had been my favorite restaurant for the last three years. The food was always reliable and well prepared. The salads are outstanding! The B-B-Q chicken is fall-off-the-bone tender. The breadsticks are always yummy. The pizza is excellent and several pasta dishes are really good. I take my grandchildren about once a week. I used to enjoy the tri-tip, but the last few times not so much. Several times it has been gristley and tough. Also, there are problems getting it medium rare. Today it was over-cooked and dry. I'll probably go less often and skip the tri-tip. My grandson will be disappointed because that is his favorite. read more

So excited when I heard there was a Stonefire Grill closer than the one in Northridge! Too bad it was super disappointing... Upon walking in it was super chaotic and didn't look very put together or clean. We wanted to order the tri-tip for two meal, but they informed us they were sold out of tri-tip. So we ask if we can have the same meal but a different meat. They said ok we have the ribs mean for two. We said ok great. We sat down and were furthered disappointed by the cleanliness and ambiance. Our caesar salad arrived, but no breadsticks. So i guess our meal didn't come with any?? Not to mention the caesar salad was half the portion as the other caesar salad in West Hills. Then our ribs and mashed potatoes came. You ever eat at a place and when your food arrived you just think gross? No particular reason but you just know it's nasty. That's how we felt about the ribs. They were hard to cut and extremely fatty. The mashed potatoes were even more of a disappointment. They didn't have any of the added toppings like other Stonefire grills have. Bummer. Ordered the Stimulus promotion online for pickup in Pasadena CA. Lemon garlic chicken was over the top. The "small salad" turned out to be regular size. The only complaint is the very skimpy toppings on the pizza. We ordered sausage and avocado. About 12 pieces of sausage and 4 pieces avocado. Stonefire can do much better. Maybe 20 pieces of sausage and 10 avocado so each slice has some toppings? read more

A friend had said Stonefire had the best Caesar Salad they'd ever tried, so we decided to head over. And in fact, trust me, their Caesar salad dressing is outstanding. Warning: it's for garlic lovers only!!! We ordered extra on the side and kept commenting that we wished they sold the stuff by the jar to take home. Their approach to service is a little spotty, so our guest's beer never arrived, but they happily refunded it as we were leaving. The tri-tip by itself is very tender, but it does need the blue cheese sauce on it and we thought it needed more of that. Babyback ribs and garlic mashed potatoes were good. Mr. Picky asked our guest if he could steal one of his breadsticks, and I have to say they're far better than most. Overall, I'd normally give this 3 stars, but the caesar salad dressing (order extra for a small cost) is enough to make me feel very generous and take them to 4 stars. read more

This "grill" prides themselves on their steak and what not, and their tri-tip was subpar, really bland flavor to it, no real distinct taste. The stone fire favor pizza had a really bland taste as well as the cobb salad being bland. Wasn't a fan of the Quinoa either. The Caesar salad and the Presto Pasta were pretty exceptional though. My sister highly recommends the roasted cauliflower pita for vegans. The service was good they took care of us well. read more

Leaving a review about a waitress. I believe her name was London or Brooklyn. Can't remember off the top of my head however the customer service she provided made this review a 5 Star. First our salad came out and she was very polite. Later returned with our entre. She asked us if there was anything else we needed and we needed a lot to put it lightly. She returned multiple times after we asked for different dressings and accommodations and she returned each time with exactly what we asked as well as a smile. A normal waiter probably would have gotten annoyed but not her, fantastic customer service based around the guest. Made the experience. Will one hundred percent be returning! read more

i love this place and its without the fuss of a waiter and you can sit down and enjoy your meal in peace. Ive been to this location twice and have had minor problems but they've always been really awesome about fixing them. the first time our food came before our salads, bread and drinks! which is such a disappointment cause we never got our salads and they have one of the BEST CAESAR SALADS EVER!!! but they gave us a huge slice of carrot cake to go to make up for things which is amazing too. the second time, we ordered the carrot cake (to go) after our meals but when it was time the guy said they may only have one small piece left (we ordered big) and then he came back telling us they were out! i was so sad, but again they refunded us and we left w a slice of cheesecake which actually one of the better NY Cheesecakes I've had. I've had their chicken, tri tip and fish. It's ALL good. But if you get the salomn and you order "lemon garlic", make sure you like garlic...cause its covered in it. it was slightly overwhelming and i'm pretty sure i smelled for a day. They are reasonably priced for the quality of food, excellent customer service, super nice counter kids, and the place itself is really nice looking with an outdoor patio. def one of my favorite places. read more

The food is just fine... huge menu, lots of selection, and reasonably priced. You're basically eating in an upscale cafeteria though. Not a place to come if you want full-service waitstaff. Huge seating area both inside and out. There are tons of kids around and the noise level is VERY LOUD especially because it's echoey, no noise-dampening curtains or ceiling tiles etc. Don't come here if you don't like kids... particularly unattended kids whose parents let them run rampant. read more

I enjoyed the meal immensely but the service was so attentive that I have to leave a 5 star review. It has been raining so much lately that when we finally got a break in the sky I rushed out to find a patio to enjoy lunch in the cool sun. It was in between lunch and dinner so the patio at Stonefire Grill was completely empty. I wanted to sit out there but I did not want to be a pain by asking for the fire pit to be turned on just for me. One of the managers Clinton saw me looking over and asked ME if her could light the pit so I could enjoy he patio. I was so impressed. After a great meal I wanted dessert and asked to order it from the table. This is casual dining so I was not sure if I could but Ashley (with a cute heart on her face) brought it out for me no problem. This is a good place for a quick lunch. The tortilla soup is good, it's a blended, creamy version of tortilla soup but very flavorful. All the salads I've tried have been good, but my personal favorite is the Greek salad, add chicken. The best thing about the salads is the HUGE portions. A small salad will easily feed 2 people, probably with some leftovers. The pizza here is decent, the flavors are good but the only drawback for me is the crust, which I personally think it is a bit rubbery. The sandwiches are ok, but nothing to write home about. I like the concept here, of ordering your own food and what not, but feel like the prices are high considering that. And most of the food is on the bland side, nothing too exciting. read more

Regardless of the other ratings and reviews, I had a great first experience last night at Stonefire Grill. I was prefaced with the fact that it was a "serve yourself" type of place with good food at decent prices. I was not disappointed. :o) The place has a woodsy feel to the decor, reminding me of the Grand Californian Hotel next to Disneyland for some reason. On the suggestion of the only one of us who had come here before, we got the family deal with an upgrade to a tri tip chopped salad. The meal was divine. About 3 minutes after we sat down, the food started arriving. We started off with 2 baskets of fresh out of the oven garlic breadsticks. Then the BIG bowl of chopped salad came, complete with steaming tri tip on top. The waiter that put it on our table spun it with a flourish as he put it down and one tomato cube flew out. Fun. ;) There were tomatoes, back beans, and roasted corn in the salad and for someone who doesn't even really like salad, it was good. Then came the sausage and mushroom pizza with amazing melted mozzarella. Shortly thereafter, what I was waiting for arrived: the tri tip. It was perfectly cooked to a nice and pink medium cut into 20-ish centimeter thick slices with just the right amount of BBQ sauce. It was juicy and not at all tough - and I LOVE my meat! Embarrassingly, I think I literally ate half of the tri tip. Lastly, the chicken came in all its tender yumminess. The damage for 7 of us with leftovers to spare? Less than $80 including tax and tip. Some other Yelpers have said that the price is semi-high, but I thought this was a great deal for an awesome meal. We topped off our dinner with a slice of decadent carrot cake and blueberry cheesecake. You can't get this much variety at Wood Ranch for under $15 a person! :D read more
