Location: They have indoor and outdoor seating. There is plenty of seating outside, so there are many parties held here. However, although it is outdoors, THEY DO NOT ALLOW DOGS! I don't know how this makes any sense, but after ordering our meal, we were told that we can't have dogs in the outdoor seating area. We've come here in the past and they allowed dogs, but they recently changed this policy. This made us so upset because we HAD to take ALL of our food to go and eat it in the car. They should have told us before we ordered, then we would have gone somewhere else that is dog friendly, but what am I thinking? They want our money! Food: -Stonefire bbq salad (p) - $7.49: This was a pretty large portion for a petite size. It comes with chicken breast, mixed greens, black beans, roasted corn, carrots, red cabbage, cilantro, jack cheese, tortilla strips, tomato, scallions, buttermilk ranch. We chose to add tri tip to our salad, which was a nice addition. This was very fresh, refreshing, and flavorful. -Whole roasted cauliflower - $5.99 - This is, no kidding, a WHOLE cauliflower. It is roasted and topped lemon, chopped parsley, and a whole lot of butter and sauce, but I couldn't tell what kind of sauce it was. It was on the heavy side for me. I don't think I would order this again. I can't eat an entire cauliflower with butter on my own. -1/4 chicken and tri tip- $12.49 - This is a must-have! The chicken is cooked perfectly. The skin of the chicken is so delicious and flavorful. The meat of the chicken, even the white meat, is EXTREMELY flavorful and tender! The tri tip is also very good and cooked perfectly. -Breadstick - $0.49 each - DELICIOUS! These are bread sticks that are drench and topped with GARLIC! I came here upon repeated recommendations. It's surprisingly far down Rosemead Blvd coming from Alhambra... In any case, I thought that there would be a wait because the parking lot was full and there were people standing outside the restaurant. But upon entrance, only a handful of people were standing/ sitting just inside the door. To the left is a menu stand. You take a menu and decide what you want, then line up to order at the cash registers in front. They then give you a tracker with a number, and the servers come and find you wherever you have sat. I ordered the tri-tip and chicken combination with the cartwheel salad (the name was just so intriguing). He ordered the tri-tip and ribs combo with the Caesar salad. For the meats, you can choose whether to apply lemon garlic sauce or barbecue sauce. With each combo came two cheesy garlic breadsticks. We also added a side of mashed potatoes. We sat and waited for only a few minutes before our salads arrived. The cartwheel salad consisted of baby greens, garbanzo beans, beets, olives, and tortilla strips. It was pretty filling because of the beans, but I liked it because the beets give it a slightly tangy flavor. Next came the mashed potatoes and breadsticks, neither of which I was a huge fan of, the former because it wasn't mashed and fluffy enough and the latter because it was much too cheesy. Not long after that, our entrees arrived! I was amused that the meat just lies on round aluminum platters. On the other hand, I was thoroughly pleased by the juicy and tender meats! I got my tri-tip medium rare--for the first time--and it was awesome. I may actually start getting all my meats medium rare now; I used to be a medium well gal, but no more of that nonsense! The chicken was also great--I opted for the dark meat because white meat tends to be more dry. I got barbecue sauce on the tri-tip and lemon garlic on the chicken, and they were the perfect combinations. On a side note, I would have liked more sauce on my tri-tip, as it was not as flavorful as I thought it would be... But that's okay. In short, the meats are great, the salads are good, the mashed potatoes and breadsticks could be better. Service is also quite impressive here. I love how efficient the tracker system is and how consistently the staff clean tables and comes by to make sure everyone is doing okay. this is a reasonable place to get BBQ and their food is pretty good. the portions are pretty large and the the wait time is not that long. the restaurant is very clean and you get to pick where you want to sit. i came with a bunch of friends here for lunch and we left happy~ their tri tips are super delicious. the only thing is, if you want medium, you should order medium rare. everything is a little more cooked than you order. if you want to eat a LOT of meat for around 20 dollars, you should definitely come to this place. good for groups too. read more

Let's start with the staff, all very bright, efficient, communicative and helpful. We had an amazing experience, arrived at 7:20pm on a Friday night, the line moved fast and then the food arrived right away. The portions are insanely large. The tri-tip makes me think someone is from Santa Maria, especially when you get the beans, they are so good. The meat is cooked properly as well, not dry or over cooked. Super delicious tri tip and chicken breast. Very tender and juicy, seasoned just perfectly. I always get the Greek salad and the breadsticks are with your meal. It is noisy and always packed, so you know it's fresh. The seating is tight, so have a little patience with people. Your chair will probably get bumped, so leave your anger issues at home. Great ambiance on the patio with heaters and firepit. Great for takeout with a parking spot just for curbside. Parking is crowded due to sharing a lot with Shogun and Trader Joe's. I've passed by this place with my Girl several time ands decide to try. I ordered the French Dip Au Jus Sandwich and was really disappointed. It tasted like hospital cafeteria food, very bland and tasteless. I ate half from hunger and told the waitress to take away the rest because it wasn't very good. A few minutes later the Manager approached us to see if there something that he could do to make up for the poor sandwich. He offered tor fund me the cost of sandwich or replace the sandwich with another. I chose to order the same thing my Girl ordered which was the Caprese sandwich. The only thing that saved this lunch for me was the attention the Management and staff was. Well. I have been coming here more often the recent months. My friend and I both realized that there have been few more random mistakes here and there. My thoughts are maybe lots of new hires? Also too many people seem to be doing the same job. The take out area seemed a bit crazy one day when I was there for a to-go order. Orders also coming out a bit slow when I was dining in the few times. One time was the girl had to cut a new cheesecake, that's why the dessert took longer. That is totally understandable. But communication is not 100% there. Sometimes it's all about someone telling a customer what's going on... It goes a long way. All your customers want to know is that you are doing your job as efficient as possible. I will keep going. Just hope the team will get better. Don't get me wrong... Primarily I call on Stonefire Grill for lunch catering. I find the value and the quality of food to be excellent when compared to other options. I've used the Catering Service at least 7-8 time since January. I usually order the chicken and tri-tip combination with mashed potatoes and one of the salads. When my customers taste the food, they give positive feedback on the presentation, the taste, quality and the quantity of food, which is pretty generous. there are lots of options on the catering menu but this is the option that I love the most. I'm sure I'd be equally happy with any of the other choices too. One of the things I love is that the person who delivers the food also sets it up and if I've chosen a tossed salad or cesar salad option, they put the ingredients in and toss it for me! Also all of the eating and serving utensils are included as well. I also appreciate that I'm quoted the delivery charge when I place my order. The Catering department will check the mileage and then tell me how much it will cost. The nice thing is that because the cost of the catered meal is so reasonable per person, about $11-$12 per person, the cost of delivery is worth it. When I have an order that's too small to be delivered, its ALWAYS ready when I arrive which has been at early as 11:15 am or 11:30 am. And lastly, they proactively ask for feedback. I'm given a feedback form in a stamped, addressed envelope and they call me for feedback too. I have to say, that hasn't happened that often, maybe only with Panera and Corner Bakery, but not to the same extent as with Stonefire Grill. read more

Last time I went I wanted to try something different and the sweet girl at the cashier gave me a suggestion for the chicken pesto sandwich and it was SO good. Perhaps it was just one of those days. Today, I had to run a quick errand during lunch and decided to stop by and pick up a salad. Thinking it wouldn't take that long since it's only a salad. So, instead of ordering ahead like I always do, I ordered on site. Serious craving for my favorite Greek salad, I ordered a medium for the first time. I sat and waited for my food. I sat for 40 minutes! At first I figured they were just busy and were backed up until I realized that most of the cashiers were just standing around. I got up and asked one of the cashiers to check on my order. Come to find out, my order had been ready all along and no one bothered to inform me. Lesson learned from last time, I check my order. My size medium looks like a size small. I asked the cashier if this was the correct size and he informs me the small and the medium are very similar in size. I was only a tad bit annoyed about them not informing me my food was ready but now I'm just annoyed. If I am going to pay double the price of a small salad, I think the size should be bigger by at least 20 bites. The box is only half full which in reality is a small. And to top it off, the cashier that helped me took out everything in my bag and after he answered my questions just took off, leaving everything laying out on the counter. =I already late to return from my lunch break, I decided to just forget about it and head back.
