They have a variety of food and if it is your first time going make sure to take a look at the menu because they take your order when you pay and you choose where you would like to sit. You also need to grab your own plates and utensils. The top picks for sure are the garlic bread, their signature salad, mashed potatoes, and pizza. I would stay away from the meat specifically the ribs and everything else I have not had the pleasure of trying but I hope this helps with your decision making. read more

My absolute favorite dish is the roasted cauliflower. I've tried to make it at home... Nowhere near is good. The garlic tahini sauce is amazing! My only complaint would be that on take out orders you must be very specific. Once you receive your order, please triple check it for accuracy. Note: both managers have been very generous when I called to complain about an incorrect order. They have offered to generously rectify the error. OMG! This place sucks! If McDonald's and Home Town Buffet were to have a love child, this would be it. You walk in, thinking you're going to be seated and waited on and served a 3.5 star meal and instead, you're greeted by Tiffany and a register. You place your order for some over price food with Tiffany and get a blinking coaster and sent on your way. Its like 1980s Sizzlers, but no menu overhead to pick and choose from or salad bar. The food was a higher grade Hungry Man TV dinner . I ordered the BBQ Tri Tip, it looked like it came from a metal can and tasted like ham. The garlic mashed potatoes, reminded me of President Trumps hair, layered and stiff. I'm pretty sure it came from a bag that read: just add water and microwave. The breadsticks had neon green specks on them, which I suspect was to be garlic...either way I took the risk and took a bite and it wasn't bad. I noticed there was a table across the room having a Birthday party there. If my family took me there for my birthday, I would put myself up for adoption! read more

My 1st time dine here with a big group from work. We ordered family style. Garlic chicken is cooked to perfection and loaded with garlic. Love it. Medium rare tri tips is on point. Bbq ribs is a little on dry side and bland. I love the thin slice pizza is almost the same standard like the East Coast. Mac n cheese which I'll never eat but coworkers said is decent because they use sharp cheddar cheese not mild. Everyone beside me ate the mashed potatoes and bagged it too. I guess is that good. The cole slaw with peanuts is incredible. I enjoy the ambience and casual style of this restaurant but the only one thing is self service. We have to order in the front then the server bring the food to you. We have to get our own plate and silverware. Whenever we need to order more drinks we have to go back in the restaurant. But beside than a little inconvenience flaw I think overall it was a great experience with the staffs that we're very nice and experienced to cater to a big group. Thank you staff. read more

We went to the Stonefire Grill last night for a dinner to celebrate our son graduating from high school and had just about the worse experience ever at this restaurant. We've eaten there many times, and I often order lunch from there for corporate meetings for my work, but I've had 3 consecutive bad experiences the last 3 times I've been there. (The last 2 times were pick up orders - which was not ready at the time I requested. I don't remember the wait the first time, but the last time, I asked for an 11:30am pick up, but the food wasn't ready until close to 11:50am, and I had to get the food back to my office for a Noon lunch, with a room full of board members waiting for their lunch - lunch was late that day, of course). After we ordered and got seated, the roasted cauliflower that we ordered came first. Because everyone was busy chit chatting and talking, we didn't notice that that salad and breadsticks never came. The next thing we know, our entrées came. So we reminded the waiter that we never got the salad and breadsticks yet. When the Cesar salad arrived, it was just a bowl of lettuce, with 2 croutons on top and a few parmesan cheese slivers on top - dry, with no salad dressing! We brought this to the servers attention, so he said he'll bring us some salad dressing and parmesan cheese. While we were waiting for him to come back with that, we thought - why should we, dressed in our nice clothes, toss a salad, in a bowl that doesn't really have much room to toss anything in?! So when he came back with 2 small bowls of salad dressing and 2 small bowls of parmesan cheese, we asked him to please take the salad back to the kitchen and have them toss if for us. Which he did. But when the salad got dropped back off at our table, we could not believe what we saw (should have taken a picture of it!). The outside of the metal bowl was smeared with salad dressing, as was the edge of the bowl. And the tongs were so smeared with dressing that there was not a clean spot for us to grab it with! It was disgusting! Once again, we called for the waiter. We asked to speak to a manager but he said he WAS one of the managers. We showed him the state of the Cesar salad bowl and he was very apologetic. Said he will get a fresh salad made for us. And he did try to make it up to us by giving us 2 desserts on the house. While we were dealing with our salad issue, we witnessed/overheard the table next to us sending their salad back too, because they weren't happy with something about their salad. By now, we've already eaten our entrée, so the salad was the last thing to be eaten. When the Cesar salad made it back the third time, it was of course delicious because it was done right, finally! But it just made the whole meal very disjointed. This was the first time I brought my elderly parents to this restaurant, and for a special celebration, so it was pretty embarrassing for us, as hosts. They seemed to be really short staffed. The floor around our table was full of trash - napkins, forks, and other trash. And empty dishes piled to one side of our table were not removed the whole time. Yes, their food is good, but after 3 bad experiences in a row, I am very hesitant to return to this restaurant, either to eat there or order pick up for my corporate meetings. read more

The food here is fantastic. The service was unmatched and I love the atmosphere here, at this delicious restaurant. The waitress Julia, with the curly hair, was phenomenal and timely. Overall my experience here is great on a consistent basis. The tri tip Mac and cheese is to die for, and the baked rigatoni is very pleasant as well. If I could go 6 stars on this rating I would. First and probably last visit...Saturday night, March 16, 2013, at approx. 7:30-ish. The line is out the door, but my family and I were in the mood for BBQ ribs, so we join in. The line moved quicker than we could put an order together, so we asked the cashier to explain the ordering system to us; he takes his time and politely does so. We ordered based on his recommendations, 1 whole slab of ribs, 1/2 a tri-tip roast, a garden salad & the traditional favorite pizza, plus 1 kids order of ribs, plus soft-drinks for 5. The place is packed and buzzing with energy, however we have no problem finding a seat in the heated patio. The pizza, salad & breadsticks arrive. So far, so good. The medium salad was more than enough servings and the pizza was delicious. My daughters' ribs arrive, followed by the manager who comes by to say, very apologetically, that unfortunately, this portion was the last order of ribs. He asked what we would want in their place? He gave us a few minutes to decide, so he offered 2 chicken breasts and changed our 1/2 tri-tip roast to a full order. Luckily, my daughter is a light eater, and the kids portion was 7 meaty ribs, so we each got a rib to taste. The main course arrived and we were already full from the pizza, salad and breadsticks, so we just nibbled on the main course. Although the barbecue ribs and tri-tip were both very tender, the flavor was a bit bland. The chicken breasts, 1 lemon-garlic, 1 bbq, were tender & juicy. I prefer the barbecue flavor to be infused throughout the meat, but there was just a tiny bit of sauce splashed onto the ribs, roast & chicken; and there was very little or no charring which I would have expected when meat is grilled. The servers were not very attentive, maybe because we were in a tight corner of sorts, or because your order was already pre-paid and the tip jars were located at the cashier desk so it's kind of backwards in that you don't know what kind of service you will get, but go ahead and tip us anyway?? Luckily the manager took care of us, so we did not feel entirely ignored. I don't live in or near the area, but if by some chance I find myself at Stonefire Grill again, I would stick to the salad and Traditional Favorite Pizza. read more

Went in for a late lunch with a party of three on the weekend. Took about ten minutes for two of the meals to come out then a half an hour for mine. Once my meal arrived it was bland and soaked in water dressing. How difficult is it to make a BBQ chicken wrap? We have heard so many great things about SFG and finally visited 2 weeks ago. It was late so I ordered the food to go and it was fantastic!! I've taken out at many restaurants and it's understandable that most leave a bit to be desired when compared to eating at the restaurant. I can only say that I look forward to eating at the restaurant. The staff was VERY attentive and helpful to me as I waited for them to package everything. I asked several questions to several of the staff and all of them seemed to have a good knowledge of the menu, etc. and I was impressed that they all genuinely seemed happy to work there! Totally not what we expected. From the outside, it looks very elegant restaurant. But when we walked in, it was a pretty casual family joint. And it's self service...meaning you order when you walk in, find a table, and they bring you your entrees. But plates, silverware, drinks, to go containers for your leftovers....you are on your own. Serve yourself. Pretty interesting concept. So since it's kind of a mass dining experience, the tables, etc. weren't the cleanest. However, the food was good. We enjoyed what we ordered! read more

Horrible service! I walked in with a party of nine and they brought us to a table that seats 8... We asked for an extra chair and they made us squeeze together on the couch. Manager had the audacity to say this to us. When seated our table was a mess, we waited about 15-20 minutes for our table to be cleaned. I was reading one of the reviews before trying out this place and it said "what is wrong with you people (addressing the bad reviews) who doesn't love cheap good food"?! At first I laughed and thought the reviewer was just being funny but when I tried this place out that sentence rung in my head. This place is seriously a great deal. Big portions, low prices, friendly service, and tasty food!! Can't really complain. My favorite was the hamburger. It reminded me of an old fashioned burger your dad would grill in your back yard (which is a good thing). The chips that come with the burger are bomb. Their salad is fresh and satisfying. The pasta is a little too rich for me but it's still pretty good. Haven't tried their pizza or meat platters yet. Only thing I didn't like was the bread sticks, but they weren't horrible. So yeah..if you like cheap + good food this is the spot for you!! read more

In light of covid their service has declined immensely. I ordered curbside pickup and was made to wait and extra 45 minutes in my car. I called inside about 3 times and still was not met with my food. It was only until a worker walked outside and asked if I needed help that I received my food. Another excellent experience at STONEFIRE. This was my first time at this location and they hold up to their high standards of quality. One of the managers William recognized me from the previous location I used to eat at and welcomed me with a smile. Will was superb as usual. Friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, and quick to serve my dining experience. The other managers, Jeff, Josh, and Clinton were just as friendly and working so efficiently. It's nice going to a restaurant and seeing the staff and managers working with a smile and working hard. The food was great tasting and absolutely filling. I had the mac and cheese for the first time with my French dip sandwich and whoa... that mac and cheese was insanely good tasting. The best mac and cheese I've had in a long time. French dip was just as good as the Chatsworth location's French dip. Cleanliness is big for me and you don't have to worry about that here. Literally everything was spotless including the bathrooms. Kudos to the staff responsible for that. It makes me as a customer feel good knowing that management pays attention to detail. Definitely recommend STONEFIRE at Pasadena for a quick and tasty lunch or a nice family dinner that keeps it casual but doesn't skip on the quality. II can see the appeal of the restaurant for some, but this is definitely not for me. You get massive amounts of (mass produced) bland food with minimal service, and it feels more communal/cafeteria at best. The process - you wait in line to order your food and pay, then you fight with everyone to find a seat that fits your party. Utensils and plates? Get it yourself at the middle of the restaurant. Sauce, water/drinks, napkins? Same. The only service is them bringing your food to the table. Then you are left to fend for yourself the rest of the meal. I started with the cartwheel salad. It sounded promising - olives, chickpeas, beets, mixed greens, etc - but did not deliver. I got a big bowl of over-dressed vegetables (oily) with minimal flavor. Thank goodness for the olives or there would be no flavor at all. Then came the garlic breadsticks, which looked as delicious as Olive Garden's breadsticks. One bite shows that the oily garlic coating actually isn't all that garlicky, and also not much flavor. Meh, oh well, I can save room for my main course. I got the half rack of baby back ribs, which was served looking quite undone minus the familiar grill marks or caramelized sheen usually present with American barbecue (or in their website pictures, for that matter). My friend reassures me this is normal as he got half ribs half chicken. Fine, I'll keep an open mind. I take a bite, and taste bland, fatty rib meat that has no smoke flavor or crispy crust associated with barbecue meats. I guess at least it's cooked (or maybe I was wishing it was actually underdone so I can send it back). I go over to the sauce station to slather some BBQ sauce on my next piece. It was a bit better, but I cannot get over the blandness of the meat as the sauce just sits on top of blandness, instead of elevating the flavor as normal BBQ should - if you told me they steam their ribs instead of BBQing them, I would've believed you. I gave the rest of the ribs to my friend to take home and picked up food at Trader Joe's next door. It's possible I came on an off day, or ordered the wrong items, since all other reviews are stellar and raves about how delicious the restaurant is. But this is definitely not my cup of tea. Sorry to say, I will not be back to try massive portions of bland food again. read more

stonefire grill is a stone's throw away from trader joe's. pun intended! =D we were putting away groceries and turned around and ..."oh, hello!" stonefire grill falls somewhere in between sizzlers and lucille's bbq. it's a family restaurant that serves up delicious american food. we're talking about large portions of steaks, bbqs, fish, salads, sandwiches, pizza. thankfully, large doesn't mean it's expensive. nor does it mean that quality is sacrificed for quantity. we ordered 1/4 chicken & baby back ribs combo and a steak & cheese sammie. the combo comes with a salad & garlic bread ... total was $12. you order up front, get a ticket & number and seat yourself. seats are generous sized so we picked a comfy booth. the ribs were good and so was the chicken. i was half expecting it to be dry but they weren't! the bbq sauce is not as thick as i'd like it but eh. still good. the meat is well done and comes off the bone easily. no charring too! meat was not fatty ... which i was kinda sad about. but oh well, probably better for me anyway. ;D i prefer this place for bbq over robin's (just down the street). while it is not the best i've had.. the price is hard to beat. steak & cheese sandwich was well done too. nice chewy & crispy french bread with a easy to tear apart steak. got a side of mash potatoes which i thought were okay. needless to say... takeout boxes were needed. boxes are self serve so take them as needed off the takeout box booth. great service with really friendly & knowledgeable staff. a definite recommend for large parties (tons of parking in their lot too!) read more

People we're coming in, after us, receiving breadsticks and salads and being attended to. We received our food without the breadsticks that should HAVE came with our meals. The server said they would be coming out fresh in a few moments, I also asked for additional signature sauce which I was told would be brought back to me. It however resulted in me having to slink my way around the heavily crowded room engulfed with rude ass people. I mean dang, I know it's Pasadena, but the residents are disgusting. No manners, no respect. Just walk around with their noses high up and not even saying excuse me. Fuck you guys, pardon my language but seriously. If I was to act as horrible as the occupants in this establishment, again, people would have their days ruined. Back to the place itself.. I had to ask for my breadsticks, because the server never came back, and also got my own condiment. Was it too much for me to get up and do it? No, but your job isn't to think that way, because the customer is ALWAYS right. To cut this review short and just highlight my experience.. The service was awful, the food was not even close to hot and the atmosphere is b.s. Just be prepared for snooty people all day giving you looks and not having manners. It is funny because the first time I went to Stone Fire Grill, was in Thousand Oaks, a way more classy up beat city than Pasadena, and even the people there act normal and treat you with equality.
