This is pretty much a meat lovers spot. The majority of my party got down on the chicken and beef. The food I was able partake in overall, was pretty tasty. The mashed potatoes pretty fattening with cheese and the bread sticks made for a nice carb combo. Very indulgent. read more

Iam missing something here???... Came here after a long hike at Eaton canyon, decided to try this place based on the reviews. Total disappointment the food has no flavor at all. Ordered a pizza which was ok, Mac n cheese ok , they forgot my side went back...bbq chicken salad, no flavor iceberg lettuce really?? Could at least done Romania or something more nutritious...tortilla soup no Flavor at all..the only thing I can say was good was the bread sticks that's it... ughh never again... ps their soda machine had no good drinks like homemade lemonades... that's what I get for cheating on Panera..I never want to see this place again... :( read more

Stonefire Grill is our go to for the best barbecue comfort food. Their Caesar salad is to die for as well as their tritip. Kayley is very sweet and helpful and suggested some great items that we wouldn't have thought of such as the pepper garlic trip. The breadsticks are amazing too! This review is for our phone takeout lunch order on Sunday the 21st. Yes, We decided to give them a try for Father's Day lunch and unfortunately, it was a huge mistake! We know that holidays would be their busiest but didn't think it was this bad. We called in our order at 12:15pm for the tri-tip family meal and added a 12" pepperoni mushroom pizza. We requested to get the whole order of tri-tip but wanted to get 1/2 the lemon pepper and 1/2 bbq flavor in medium rare. We were told our order would be ready in 45min to one hour. I called them at 1:15pm to check if the order was ready and was told that everything was ready except for the meat. So i ask when he thinks it would be ready n was told he wasn't sure when cuz the meat is being cooked. I then ask if he thinks it may be another 15-20min n he says maybe i dont know. He informs be that they are really backed up in the kitchen so cant give me an estimated time but i could try arriving in 15-20 n maybe the meat would be ready but he wasn't sure. We got to the restaurant around 1:50 and the parking lot was a bit chaotic. There were workers yelling to each other about a customers order (yes, yelling...one worker standing at the door of the restaurant n the other worker standing next to the customer's car i'm guessing for curbside), didn't know it was an online versus a phone order. Anyways, i was greeted by a worker before i even got to the entrance door asking if i was doing a pickup. Answered him that i did a phone order n needed to pay so he told me to go inside. I waited in line 2-3min and was greeted by a person at the register, paid for my order and waited for her to gather my order from the kitchen n take it to the front desk to the side of the register. When I gathered my entire order (3 bags n pizza box), i noticed that the pizza box was cold. Didn't really bother asking why it was cold cuz I was already informed on the phone when i called at 1:15pm that my entire order was ready n they were just waiting for the meat to cook. With all the chaos in the restaurant, i took my order n left. Got to the car n double checked my order before leaving cuz we didn't want to have to drive back if there was something wrong. Good thing we checked, the salad dressing that was in a plastic bag was all spilled in the bag. Guess they did seal the lid on the plastic container. We also noticed that the tri-tip was not cooked medium rare like we requested. So i took the salad bag with dressing and the tri-tip back n ask the host at the door for a dressing replacement and why the meat temperature was more cooked than medium rare. He took them back inside, i waited outside then a few minutes later, I'm guessing a possible manager by the name of Rick came out with the meat n informed me that the tri-tip was cooked medium rare but because of the sun outside, it looked less pink. He took me back inside the restaurant n says that under the restaurant lighting, the meat is cooked medium rare n that it wasn't going to get any pinker than that. By that time, i was already frustrated with the wait n just accepted the order n left. Mind you, it was already 2:15pm by the time i left. We took the food home and everything was already cold with exception of the breadsticks n meat which were both only slightly warm. The lemon pepper tri-tip was tender but lacked flavor. The garden salad had lettuce that were already slightly browning, so not fresh. The pizza was cold n chewy n needed to be reheated in the toaster. All in all, a huge disappointment in our Father's Day lunch. We will probably not be coming back for takeout cuz there was just too many mistakes made. When this pandemic ends n it's safe to dine in, maybe we will give them another chance. Unfortunately, it wont be anytime soon. read more

Great food at a reasonable price. Service is usually text book and the restaurant is inviting and clean. I have been coming here off and on for over two years and my family loves it. Our favorites are the pesto pasta and the bbq chopped salad with tri tip. The little one likes the pesto pasta and occasionally enjoys the Mac and cheese. As mentioned above the service is usually text book but one tip if you are ordering out. If you are put on hold simply hang up and call again. I have found, through trial and error, this is a much more efficient way to order. As an example, today Jerrod picked up and ask that I hold. I wait 30 seconds and hung up and called right back. Haley picked up and took my order right away. I am not sure if today is bad Stonefire's policy or just a bad time, but asking to hang on is just not what I found useful to me. I recommend everyone considering a place to eat, especially with kids, to try Stonefire Grill; just don't wait on the phone to order. Update 6/20/2017 Minus 1 1/2 stars for less than perfect service. Please do not ask "is there anything else I can get you" and you miss two of the three things I bring to your attention. In my case this evening I note to the server we are still waiting on a kids Mac and cheese, extra salad dressing and the carrot cake. She returns shortly to drop off the Mac and cheese and forgets everything else. When I ask to get the carrot cake to go she acknowledges I can bring to you. No offering of excuses or an apology which only exacerbates my impression you do not care! Please provide the service I once loved about your restaurant. Don't mess with the recipes, your food is great and at a good value. Update 9/30/2018 Lost a star due to unsatisfactory customer service. Weekends at Stonefire are a zoo. I know that and phoned ahead to go. Unfortunately the once quick and efficient To Go service has gone to S--. Nancy was inept and unable to tell me it would an additional 10 minutes of waiting on top of the 10 minute lead time from the phone in. Andrew was rude in not understanding I would not be taking my food until I spoke to the manager. The once good service and great value of Stonefire is no longer existent. Today it was 45 minutes from phone order to speaking with the manager to give criticism. Unacceptable. Go or order somewhere else for the weekend and save the frustration. read more

Everything on the menu is delicious! I'm serious. You could close your eyes and point to a random place on the menu and order. It will taste amazing. I love their pizzas and salads. My favorite salad is the BBQ chicken salad. I get it without black beans and extra ranch. They give you these yummy breadsticks on the side. Their grilled items are great too. The salmon is sweet and salty and grilled to perfection. The tri tip is also good. When you order to go, they always pack it perfectly. The price is actually very good for the portion that you get. This menu is so overwhelming, but so up my alley! I was really craving a salad, so the hubs and I found this place and loved their immense salad selections. We ordered the chopped vegetable salad and a grilled one. One we ordered with tri-tip and one with chicken. The salad portions were HUGE (we each ordered smalls). The meat portion was not that generous, but that's the only bad thing I could say. The veggies were fresh, the dressing ratio was perfect, and the salad was loaded with non-lettuce items. Came here on a Friday night with another family and they did not dissapoint. We were promptly given a seat outdoor even though initially they said it was a 20 min wait. So yes, I have sent back a couple steaks wondering why it isn't red in the middle. I asked for medium and it came back grey. Then I asked for medium rare and it came back pinky grey. I just don't get it. How do these cook they things? The tri tip is soooo tender? Almost like it is slow cooked or boiled for hours then grilled. Lol!! Well, I am no expert, but I do know one thing, it is yummy!! :) It is kind of like an upscale cafeteria. The food is very good with generous portions and the service is always incredibly friendly. This place reminds of of Pat and Oscar's -- since you order up front, and take a seat, and the fact that they serve BREADSTICKS. It's a great place, especially to eat family style. My family went here (6 of us), and I think we spent less than $70 on a family dinner which had a big salad, a large pizza, tri-tip and BBQ chicken. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating too. I've been going to their other location in the Valley for a while and got SO excited when I heard there was one in Pasadena. The tri-tip with the bbq sauce (?), bread sticks, pizza, and caesar salad...Yum... Well, our dinner sucked. I was surprised how BLAND everything tasted. I remember everything was perfect and tasty and now THIS? It was bland and dry. Maybe it was our dinner that night and we were just unlucky. The place has good ambiance though, very casual. It's simple and fast. You order your food once you arrive. Everything is pretty much self-serve except they deliver your food to your table. Price is reasonable since everything is big enough to share. It'll take a lot to persuade my boyfriend to eat here again. read more

From small get togethers to birthday parties to straight up weddings, this place makes everyone happy. I ordered The Works and a full tray of pesto pasta from here for my little monkey's birthday and it easily fed about 50 people with leftovers! Just recently I had 15 family members over for dinner at our place and feeding them with Stonefire was a hit. Fed quality food to that many ppl for less than $90!! Believe it. They even supplied our utensils and plates gratis! Even a florist friend of mine has done several weddings already where Stonefire catered. We came here for our friends bday and they were able to give us a table for about 15 people. I definitely would recommend this place for a group event. Parking spaces It's a huge Plaza so parking should not be a problem. Food We ordered various entrees and I was fortunate enough to taste the pesto pasta, bbq chicken pizza, and the tri tip sandwich. All were pretty solid. Place The place is pretty big. I was glad that they helped us combine the tables to fit our party. This is great place to just chill with friends, eat, order beer, and just relax. Service The service is great. Like I said they helped us rearrange the sears for us to fit our party. This is not a place for single diners. The portions are big, so you need at least two people, even if you order only one dish. Staff is friendly, although it's weird that you have to order and pay upfront before you find a table. 5 stars for the tri-tip. It is really excellent, tender and just right. They have two flavors, equally excellent. If you order the 1 pound, you can ask them to give you half the BBQ flavor, half the garlic flavor. The BBQ flavor is kind of sweet. The garlic flavor has a large dollop of gorgonzola butter on it; I liked it, but if you are not a cheese person, the BBQ flavor might be more up your alley. The penne pasta was good. A "small" order came in this GIGANTIC bowl. You need at LEAST two people to share, or you'll die from all the starch. I give it 4 stars. We also ordered lemon chicken. I love it! The chicken was very fresh and tender; you could tell they used real lemon juice in the sauce. I give it 5 stars. My fav dish, actually, but that's because I'm a chicken lover. The tri-tip comes a very close second. The mashed potatoes was good, but a bit heavy. 3 stars. Finally, we ordered spare ribs. That was the least favorite. It depends on your taste. I liked it, because the meat was so tender, it was falling off the bone. However, the flavor was a bit monotonous, not sharp and varied the way I'm used to at other joints. My friends were the exact opposite. They like to "fight" with their ribs. So in any case, you have to try it to see. This is one of those places where you place your order, get a number, you pick a table (indoor and outdoor seating), and go get your fountain drinks, plates, silverware, etc. Everything comes out in a serve yourself from presentation, so take some plates. If you order a salad, they come in a big bowl with tongs for you to serve your self from. I had the caesar, I didn't think it was anything too special. The dressing for the greek salad was good, but definitely ask for it on the side. The meats come out on a metal platter. Tri-tip: the piece I had was a big fatty. I ordered it medium rare, it was closer to a medium. Ribs: they were not fall of the bone ribs, they were meaty pieces, the bbq sauce has a sweetness to it, not too thick. They have a dispenser for extra sauce if you prefer. One tri-tip and ribs combo, could feed two people if you aren't looking to gorge yourself. I would say the meats are on par with an outback/texas roadhouse. Would be a good place with a bigger group, they have family specials. Been here a dozen times and have tried pretty much the whole menu. Usually here for lunch, the BBQ chicken is really delicious. The sauce is amazing with the right tang and sweetness. The chicken alone gets max stars as they perfected the right tenderness of the meat without over-roasting. The lunch also comes with a HUGE side salad that is very fresh. I prefer the chicken over the tri-tip. Btw- the lemon garlic chicken is pretty great as well... Plenty of seating and parking. Even the "petite" size is more than enough for one. My family visit this place weekly for their salad. My favorites to order are the tri-tip w/ bbq sauce anddddd the breadsticks. I could come here for that alone. The person helping me went over the order with me before taking it home... and I think I just assumed the sauce was in there already. Came here looking for BBQ, but was pleasantly surprised to find other options as well. I tried the honey sesame glazed salmon with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. The SO tried the BBQ full rack of ribs (SO was starrrving) along with a side of garlic mashed potatoes as well. Both entrees came with two sticks of garlic bread. The bread was deliciously garlicky, as was the potatoes. However, the sides are so large that I definitely could have split the potatoes with the SO. I enjoyed the salmon, and I think the half pound fish was a good amount of food without feeling stuffed. SO's ribs, on the other hand... There was plenty of meat, and the ribs themselves were quite tender. I personally did not love the flavor. The glaze on the ribs was quite sweet, but it doesn't seem as though the ribs had been marinating in the sauce for very long. The flavor is all on the outside, so the meat itself was a bit bland. While I wouldn't necessarily come back for the ribs, I would like to try the other items on their menu. I am pretty surprised by the outstanding reviews as my experience was sub standard here. I went on a Sunday evening with my family and The place was PACKED! It is a casual eatery where you order at the counter and seat yourself. Think of Phil's BBQ style. My family shared one of their family meal deals for roughly $70. This came with a full rack of ribs, a whole chicken, a huge bowl of salad, a large two topping pizza, and 18 breadsticks. Wow. Pretty good deal considering what you get right? I too was impressed. The stand outs were definitely: the bread sticks and the lemon garlic chicken. Score 5/5 Honorable mentions: pizza and cartwheel salad. Score 3/5 Next time I'll pass on: their ribs. I've had much better. They were tough to cut, bite, chew and tasted burned. Not fall off the bone or juicy at all. Tasted and felt like eating cardboard lathered in BBQ sauce :X You're better off at Lucille's. Score 1/5 However, i do wish we had tried the garlic mashed potatoes and tri tip. Perhaps we just ordered the wrong items. So if and when we return we will opt for those. Overall, excellent bang for your buck! Highly recommended for families and big groups. Had a really great experience with ordering through the phone and curbside pick up. We were told the order would take up to 45 minutes to an hour to be ready and when we got there, there was someone ready to ask about our order and take our payment. He came back out right away with our order and it was still warm when we got home. We went there on a Saturday at lunch time, and it didn't seem too busy. We had a great experience. I was a little weary reading the reviews of those who had a bad experience with curbside pick up, but turns out there was no need to worry. We had the full rack of ribs which was delicious along with the breadsticks and coleslaw. I normally don't like coleslaw from restaurants, but I really like stonefire's. We also got the tri-tip, which was ok. It was very chewy and fatty. Still good flavor though. I'd recommend this place for good food, good portions, and affordability.
