Nosh on! OK, so this is a review for the Pick Up service, not the Restaurant experience so much. We'd spent aWHILE shopping at CostCo around the corner (Yes, I know, it's always aWHILE shopping at CostCo....) and needed a good dinner. We needed Salad! Phone the order in while we were still at CostCo and it was all ready for us when we go there. No problem getting extra dressing. The servings are HUGE. I always order my salads "wet" because, indeed, I like a lot of dressing. Unlike my pookie who is a drier salad man. Super fast and great service. Will definitely be back. And perhaps sit down inside for some good solid BBQ! read more

This place used to be Hoff's Hut but now it's housed to Stonefire Grill. I have seen their advertisement in Clipper magazine a few times but didn't get a chance to check it out since I don't live close to the plaza. This past weekend, my family wanted something Atkin diet so I suggested this place. There was a Chicken special advertised in the Clipper Magazine where you could order a whole chicken (lemon garlic or BBQ), a medium 2 topping pizza, salad, and 12 breadsticks for $26. So, we got that but with half lemon garlic and half BBQ. We also got half pound tri-tip a la carte, which amounts to around $40 including tax. For the salad, we chose Greek. It's not like Pat and Oscar's Greek. I really like the salad. The vinaigrette was lemony and very tasty. It made the salad very appetizing. The breadsticks have Parmesan garlic but they are not as garlicky as Pat and Oscar's. It's skinnier than Pat & Oscar but I like their breadsticks equally as Pat and Oscar. It has different umph!! As for chicken, I thought their BBQ taste better than their lemon garlic. The lemon garlic was bland and for that, Pat and Oscar's lemon garlic tastes better. The 2-topping pizza was very tasty. I was surprised. I think Pat and Oscar does their specialty pizza better but if you ever order just cheese pizza, something doesn't taste right. I think it's their marinara sauce wasn't good. I was surprised that Stonefire Grill's would make their simple pizza that tasty. Their specialty pizza looks great too. I would like to check it out in the future. Tri-tip was pretty good. I actually like it with the salad vinaigrette as my dipping sauce! I don't know why, I just like their vinaigrette a lot! read more

This place is good! They always have a $20 special that's food enough for up to four people. There's variations you can make with this special, but I got the tri-tip (garlic and butter), with a medium pizza (up to two toppings), breadsticks, and a large salad (greek is best) and was more than satisfied. When I go with my friend, we get the special, and just take the rest home. The quality of the food isn't the type where your going to get cravings for, but the specials are inexpensive and well worth it! And the greek salad and breadsticks are great. The service here is great! Though you order/pay first they don't typically bring your food out all at once. First they bring the salad and breadsticks, and then the pizza and protein. And you always have the manager walking around once to check up on you. read more

I keep getting the name of the restaurant mixed up calling it Firestone Grill because there's also a BBQ spot in SLO called Firestone and this one is Stonefire LOL oh wells I was flying high as a kite when I came into this restaurant with friends and I definitely had a great time at this restaurant :) We ordered the Stimulus Package, which came with pizza, tri tip and breadsticks. WOW. It sure was stimulating for me haha The pizza slices were big and the ingredients tasted fresh. The tri tip was tender and were sliced the right sizes for devouring. The breadsticks were warm and buttery. GOD I miss this place. I want the stimulus package in my mouth again :*( Not sure how much it was because the friends paid for it but I'd be down to go again! :D read more

Employees that can even handle a basic delivery order and going through the checklist on a recipes. In 5 years I've been to this location three times and every time it's been a nightmare. Would of given it five stars but the person taking our order screwed it up they corrected it and got it all done food was good we had a family meal with the tritip. Tri-tip was excellent to the point that it's fork tender to eat. Clean place easy to get in and out of and the family size sides are definitely family sized. Pesto pasta and Caesar salad were great with the bbq tri-tip we had. read more

This place is ok. I was tricked by the pictures. I expected more like bbq, but the brisket was watery and didn't have great flavor. The Mac and cheese had very little cheese flavor. The Gorgonzola sauce just didn't compliment the entree well. I probably won't order from here again. read more

Absolutely love this place! We've had them cater for swim team dinners. Had lunches here. Order food to go. Tried everything from the salads to the chicken, tri tip, salmon, pizzas, pasta, sides and ofcourse the amazing bread sticks. Just can't go wrong with the food. There something for everyone, and every age group. But most importantly and best of all is the service. Regardless of what time of day, and trust me they're always busy. They are the nicest, most helpful, friendly employees. read more

Although I really do miss the Hof's Hut restaurant that used to inhabit the building, at least the new tenant is a place where you can grab good eats. Stonefire grill has a wide assortment of sandwiches, pizza, salads, tri tip, roitisserie chicken, and desserts. Everything I've had here is pretty good. The salads are huge - even if you get a small you'll look at it and think "this is a small"? Its a casual dining place - you order when you first walk in after looking through the menu, then seat yourself in any of the tables. Someone will bring you the order while you grab some extra homemade bbq sauce and other condiments. My recommendations? The tri tip hasn't failed me yet. And the bbq chicken wrap is filling and great tasting, especially with some extra bbq sauce on it. The breadsticks are different from the usual fare, but enjoyable as well. Portions are plentiful and prices are moderate. I miss Hof's Hut, but Stonefire Grill is pretty darn good eating. read more

I can't believe I haven't yelped this place yet! I have been pretty in love with this place for a few years now. They even catered my rehearsal dinner for my wedding. Why not five stars? While the food is good, and I love their tri-tip, chicken, mashed potatoes, and breadsticks, sometimes service can be hit or miss over the years. I have had some really great service here, and some meh service here. This place is great for catering and for coming with groups. I highly recommend this place and try to visit it whenever I am in the area. read more

OMGosh! Our family just discovered this place a couple of weeks ago... It would be embarrassing to tell you how many times we've been there since! The food is always so good and so fresh. Service is excellent! Our favorites are the salads with tri-tip, tri-tip plate, and the sides are amazing. Ask for the "stimulus" special; it includes a salad for four, a medium pizza with two toppings, breadsticks, and a plate of chicken or tri-tip for ONLY $22!!!! It's such a deal! read more

What can I say, I love this place! I eat so much whenever I come here...ribs, chicken, pizza, pasta (red and white sauce, mac n cheese), garlic bread.... cheesecake brownies...OMG all so good! Service was great (even for a self seat) and manager is so amazing, so friendly! read more

I decided to give it another star because I tried the pizza and it turns out it's pretty scrumptious, especially for a place that's known for their grilled items. When a restaurant is able to surprise me in a good way that's worthy of a bump up. read more

Got the $19 meal for 2 which comes with approximately a pound of tri tip, 1 side, 4 breadsticks, and 1 salad. ITS A LOT OF FOOD. It served as dinner for my boyfriend and me. We even had enough leftover for both of our lunches. We got the Caesar salad. It's really good!! Tri tip was tender and juicy. Breadsticks were good as well with the pesto on top. The mashed potatoes came with cheddar cheese on top. Nothing we got disappointed us. read more

Went here for lunch with a group of 8. It's perfect for groups because you can order individually first, then sit wherever you want. I got the BBQ Tri-Tip invidividual entree. It comes with two breadsticks and your choice of a salad. The tri-tip was tender and the breadsticks pretty delicious. I also got to taste their ribs and the chicken tortilla soup. Ribs were good, but they weren't fall off the bone. The soup was very salty. Service was okay. They kept forgetting parts of our order. One in our party ordered a basket of breadsticks which did not come out until we were ready to leave. read more

A 5 STARS***** it is Stonefire Grill!!! I usually don't rate 5 stars unless everything was great from beginning to end and here they have! It was our first time eating here at this restaurant and everything was so delicous especially the parmesan/garlic bread (they are so addictingly scrumptious.) Your cashiers were really nice at the front, they explained how the menus goes and what's popular and how the seating works, etc. We order 1/4 chicken with bone and trip tip combination which included a salad, and breadsticks. ----The lemon garlic chicken was so good, refreshing taste of citrus burst in your mouth as you eat your chicken. I kept dipping the chicken meat in that sauce- it was a great flavor. ---The bbq trip was medium rare and tender to perfection ( I also dip the trip tip into the lemon garlic sauce...hahah, my bf kept laughing at me for doing so) ---The ceasar salad was good too made fresh ---THE BREADSTICKS-- I love these funny shaped bread with a parmesan/garlic flavor spread around it. It was so good I had to order extra to take home :) We order one combo to share and it was perfect for the two of us to share. Prices here are decent. Our meal was only $13 for the evening and it was fulfilling. Will I come back for more??? why of course yes, for those garlic/parmesan breadsticks and other delicious entrees that haven't try yet. Service here was very nice and friendly, food came out really fast and prepared great. Even the manager had came out to open when he saw us in line behind two busy cashiers. Services like this is what I like about this place. They go out of their way to help their customers making sure we are happy eaters! :) read more

Stonefire Grill has been one of my favorite restaurants to eat. The Irvine location is definitely not up to the same standards or quality of the other locations. We called for a curbside pick up and waited 20 mins still no one came and then when I went inside the restaurant to get my order I had to wait another 15 mins to get helped as employees were walking around and asking the same people if they have been help. Those of us in line were unsure of what to do because no employee called the next person in line. One employee stood and bagged breadsticks for the full 15 mins I was inside without looking up. Tonight I ordered pizza and salad. The pizza was undercooked the dough even looked almost raw when I opened the box. And we found the pizza pan that the cooks used to bake our pizza on in our box!!! What? The Garden salad was brown. We just threw is out because we knew the lettuce was not of good quality. I just couldn't believe we were served this food. No quality or care for the food being served. read more

Stopped by with a local legend recently after a long day of fishing in the heat of the summer. My body was sore and we thought it's about time for some good food. Upon entering the restaurant we noticed the extensive menu. A nice young lady named Eevee, I believe, was very helpful in explaining various choices and even recommending some items that we had not previously considered. We went with her suggestions and the food arrived shortly. All of it was great! All of the food came out hot which I needed since I was battling a cold and had left my cough syrup at home. Eevee even came to check up on us to see how we liked everything. This type of service is much appreciated - it was like having a fairy godmother looking after us to make sure we were happy. This experience has crystallized my impression of Stonefire Grill and I will certainly be returning.  P.S. Props to whoever decided to play Beatles music in the restaurant! Great food, service and music - now that's something to believe in! read more

This place is cheap with great delicious food! From salad to meat; everything is tasty. but beware~ I ordered medium cooked meat and I got well done. but sometime I do get medium; anyway, it's still good. Big portion for a girl. but for my dad, it was an ok portion :) I love both salad. Cart wheel salad is colorful and the Caesar salad was delicious. :) Cheese cake was good. I will definitely come back read more

Disappointed in the tri tip we purchased. Meat was still tender but maybe something has changed in the seasoning? Not as tasty as before.

I had a small issue with my order and the manager Kyle came out and brought me up to the front and walked me through the menu and replaced my dish with something I knew I'd like. Great experience overall. read more

Not coming back here. After waiting a half hour to receive three food items and seeing many people who ordered after me, I went to find the manager to ask for a refund. The manager ignored me, then after saying excuse me three times, he finally acknowledged the patron in front of him. Instead of acting professionally and acknowledging the long wait, the manager snapped at me and made excuses. As I also work in the service industry, I certainly understand the frustrations and pressure of being understaffed, but don't take it out on your customers whose money pays for your job. read more

I mostly go here for the salads. If you like a finely chopped but hefty salad I would come here. I really like the Cobb salad since everything is well mixed and the dressing is fairly light. The bread sticks are pretty good too. This place is a tad bit pricy but the food is pretty good quality. read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Irvine and I can't believe I never wrote a review. I used to go so often that the people working there would remember me. I always got the usual: 1/4 Chicken & Tri Tip Combo. (both with the garlic flavor). It is soooo good. The tri tip has a dollop of butter gorgonzola and it melts in your mouth! It also comes with two breadsticks which are also amaaazing and a salad, which I always get caesar. I love it here & one time I got a whole plate of free brownies because they were promoting. I'm sad I won't be around Irvine anymore since I won't be working in the area anymore, but I will still come back during the weekend or find a closer location. read more

Not impressive and the price...mm ain't cheap. Ordered pesto pasta with petite size which cost $6.99. Their pesto pasta is more like creamy pesto not olive oil pesto. The portion is fair amount and can be for two girls to share. It only does come with the sauce and pasta with a few semi-dried basil leaves. I'm not a fan of it. I'm picky about my pasta. My friend ordered trip-tip meal which include a choice of salad, bread sticks, and meat of course. We ordered Greek salad. Gotta said I like that salad more than my pasta. Breadsticks Are pretty yummy. Trip tips are okay. We also ordered a full carrot cake since it was national carrot cake day that gave u 50% off. It's a bit too sweet for me but if you are fan of carrot cake. You can give a shot. Over all, I'm not impressive on their pasta. The price comes down actually ain't cheap even tho the price looks decent. read more

My wife has mentioned Stonefire Grill ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/stonefire-grill-irvine?select=6xkSYYaHlBxH5XVJHPEbFA ) in the past as a rare place that is able to prepare a tri tip she actually enjoys, so it was an easy choice coming here after redeeming a Groupon at nearby Cookie Connection. The first thing we noticed was the two entrances. The right entrance is for dine-in customers ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/stonefire-grill-irvine?select=h-AyJajv7TXpkKyfuKld8w ) and the left entrance is for to-go orders. Since we had the four-legged part of the Anderson clan with us, we went through the left. The restaurant was rather busy, but we were able to walk right up to a register and grab a menu to peruse. In a relatively short period time we had sorted out the menu ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/stonefire-grill-irvine?select=6PT-i7O2BUf3sUNGETk2uQ ) and were ready to order. The better half has been craving baby back ribs lately (not a la mode so you can skip the pregnancy theories) and it is unusual because if she is going to dine on swine it is in bacon or ham form, but ordered the Tri Tip and Baby Back Rib Combination ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/stonefire-grill-irvine?select=MSbHw200Ato4OQQCbhAgYg ) with salad ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/stonefire-grill-irvine?select=bPL9PqucKTFthI6c1D8yXQ ) and (2) of their Signature Breadsticks. I opted for the BBQ Beef Sandwich ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/stonefire-grill-irvine?select=26qKhLOq91kkn8blpdFJrA ) and a side of their beans ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/stonefire-grill-irvine?select=2DdAlJYc52NJkggtIvkDuQ ) for an additional 99 cents. In addition to our entrees, I was curious about the hummus ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/stonefire-grill-irvine?select=rvU8LB70POpOt53D73gxFQ ), so we ordered a small portion of it and an individual portion of the Meatballs ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/stonefire-grill-irvine?select=S3z2lgBFvRP7NkR-tVLBBw ) to share. With our order placed, Laina went and got Kamena out of the car and we waited. And waited. And Waited. More than 30 minutes for a to go order borders on the absurd! When our order is called, Laina checks it (always check your order) and notices the hummus portion was the wrong size and some items were missing. The person "helping" (that term used loosely) never once apologized, but made excuses about the restaurant being slammed. Rohlinism: Apologizes will always work better than excuses! My better half wasn't going to be happy either way, but she never wants to hear about how busy a place is while you are screwing up her order. More waiting ... We thought the order was complete and headed for home only to have a worker come flying out the door with our pita as we were walking to the car. Oi vey! The breadsticks didn't make it to the house (that is why there is no pic) because the wife, Kamena and I were all hungry. I must admit the breadstick hype is legit, I just wish we had ordered more of them. Good flavor from the garlic, parmesan and herbs, very soft and fresh out of the oven (i.e. still warm). I wish the rest of the food would have been as impressive as the breadsticks, but the rest of the meal was hit and miss with an emphasis on miss. The biggest hit was the tri tip. The meat was very tender and the sauce didn't cover up the flavor. The meatballs were equally tender, nicely seasoned and not drowning in sauce. The salad was surprising fresh and the vinaigrette had a zestiness to it. The hummus was way too clumpy, probably because my palate failed to detect any lemon juice and it was also lacking seasoning of any sort. The veggies did look and taste fresh, but the pita was hearty and mixed with the hummus would just stick the roof of my mouth. The beans had a decent flavor and I liked the red and green peppers, but it was a bit too soupy. The sandwich was decent, but boring. The meat quality wasn't as good as the tri tip and the sauce was pedestrian. The biggest fail were the ribs. The ribs were undercook (a first for me), the quality was on the poor side and the bones were lacking in meat. If I didn't know better, I would swear Kamena had a go at them on the ride home. As a bit of barbecue connoisseur, color me disappointed by these ribs! There were a few bright spots to this meal, but overall, there isn't enough positives to draw me back here in the future! read more

Two words: Stimulus Package!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place is awesome... you order at the front, which kinda threw me aback, then bring a number to your table (so it's more or less like a Shakey's). 2 Stimulus Packages for $51 between 4 people = Four Starving College kids turned into full college kids. Had two salads: Greek & Caesar... Greek was really good, lots of feta cheese, dressing, onions, and olives. Caesar was a typical caesar, and both salads were "small" but could definitely be considered a meal for one. Breadsticks: I don't know how people could complain about these... They're really good when theyre piping hot, covered in butter, garlic and herbs, and parm cheese. Tri Tips: BBQ and Lemon Pepper... The tri tip is very tender and leaves the meat to speak for itself. The place has a spot where you can get more bbq sauce to dip the tritip in. The lemon Pepper doesnt really taste too much like lemon pepper, but has this amazing gorgonzola butter on it, and when I asked someone for more, they promptly brought more out :). Pizzas: Sausage&Pepperoni, BBQ Chicken & Onion : Both pizzas were excellent and thin crust. Note that the sausage is not the crumbled kind but the sausage link cut up. Kinda greasy, but I definitely hit the spot in the stim pack. I am stuffed and lying on the couch while typing this review... I will be back soon!! :) read more

This place is amazing! My boyfriend and I called in for a take-out order the other night. We had a coupon for the $24.99 "Stimulus Package" which comes with... tri-tip or a whole chicken pizza with 2 toppings salad 8 breadsticks When we went in the store to pick up the food, there were a lotttt of people waiting in line to be seated. Good thing we ordered take-out! The girl at the front was super friendly and gave us our food pretty quickly. We got the tri-tip in 1/2 bbq flavor and 1/2 garlic. The meat was perfectly cooked to medium and the flavoring was reallyyy good! The caesar salad dressing so the best I've had! The breadsticks are soooo buttery and garlicy and delicious! The pizza was a little bland but it's good if you dip the crust in the caesar salad dressing. The portions of the food was huge! We were only able to eat about half the food and had to eat the rest for breakfast the next morning. Sooooo good! We are definitely coming back! read more

Stonefire is a casual restaurant where you order at the counter and take a buzzer. They then bring your food to wherever you sit. Anyway, came here with a friend on a Saturday night. Place wasn't too busy like it usually is. I go to the Pasadena location, which is always super busy. I got the tri- tip and ribs combo. The tri tip here is actually decent. Dipping in the sauce with tabasco is great. The ribs were a little on the burnt side, which was a little disappointing. I also got a side of the cole slaw. Should've stuck with the mashed potatoes. Had a bite of the cole slaw and threw the rest away. It was not good at all. The food is good, only reason I give 3 stars is BECAUSE THEY FORGOT MY BREADSTICKS. The staff was walking around and didn't ask how we were doing so I was too shy to ask them for it. read more

This is a story of the halves and half nots. So I never liked this place in the first place, but my wifey does. We ordered the full rack of ribs, chopped salad and pesto pasta. I took a bite of a rib and I noticed that it was not fall-off-the-bone like it usually is but I ate it anyway. Half way through, half of the ribs were inedible because it was near rare to raw. I was eating the salad and also noticed that half if the chips were crispy, but half were stale. Not an enjoyable meal to say the least. Chalk it up to lower revenue, fewer inventory turnovers, resulting in sub par food quality. You may have noticed that some mom and pop restaurants are giving much bigger portions while a place like this place should be called cold stone grill rather than SFG... read more

I highly recommend the stimulus package. It's enough to feed four people! Comes with: Salad: Upgrate to the BBQ tri-tip salad. You won't regret it. Breadsticks: These are so good! If I don't get the stimulus package here, I'll order some on the side. Meat: I think you get a choice between chicken and tri-tip. Tri-tip is better than the chicken, but if you're in the mood for chicken it isn't too bad. Two Topping Pizza: Pretty standard. I've also had the margherita pizza combo here. Very good! Pizza is crispy. I usually get it with ceasar salad, but I think you can choose any of their side salads. You seat yourself! Parking is pretty spacious here. read more

Talk about very bad service from beginning to end this place went freaking down the drain! We would come here every month or so for years with good service and great food As of tonight we learned new management means an end to everything service oriented. The manager Gerold took our order which took forever to input in the system and forever and a day to receive. Each and every item we ordered was wrong when we received it despite him repeating it back confirming it. We had to send the entrees back for an exchange as it was unfortunately a necessity. We NEVER EVER got the food waiting there nearly 45 min until dark and the place was EMPTY. After retuning to the unattended register before leaving to get our money back for the food we didn't get served the apologetic server who delivered the initial order coming to the register asking what the problem was. He was literally in shock that we never received our order saying "they really never brought you your food!?!?" Gerold the manager was literally on the register for 10-15 minutes to do nothing to help us, or simply pretending he didn't know how to use the register to get us our money or even ask the kitchen what happened at all. I eventually had to politely say something and I said to him "My wife and I kinda need to go now we're hungry and we have to leave (please remember... he's now 15 MINUTES on the register!)" he then just stared at me. I said "I'm sorry man but I'm going to give this place a bad review there's no excuse for this" He THEN offered to refund the whole ticket to which I said "I'm sorry but it won't make a difference" he then brought a strange looking price of cake which I declined. He then only deducted the entrees from the purchase in spite of the horrible service and his offer to refund the meal at the threat of a bad review. I would have left him 1 star if he hadn't at least done that- even if it were because he feared a bad review read more

(Late post, found in my drafts from 7 months ago) Came here with a friend because we wanted some BBQ but this place is definitely more for a family. The portion sizes were huge and plentiful. I got the chicken BBQ and he got the half trip tip half chicken. Both came with sides and we ordered more because we wanted some salad and what not. The food was pretty decent. Not amazing in my personal opinion but not bad. Definitely have LARGE portions. Walking in, we got a feel that it was a giant family restaurant. After we ordered the food, we realized we were right. The food is sharable, with lots of open seating and tables and booths. Other than that, staff pretty friendly. When we went around 6 during the weekday, it was pretty empty so maybe thats a good time to go. All in all, fairly decent. read more

At one time, this was a four star level eatery. I'd now knock it to two stars based on my August 23, 2018 experience. Ordered: two steak and chicken dinners. Experience: small portions of steak and chicken and massive portions of salad, bread and potatoes. Lots of filler and little main course. Steak was chewy and flavorful. Chicken was bland, and no white meat portion was included. Potatoes had gobs of stinky garlic. Bread was oily and greasy. The restaurant was very noisy, and the outside eating areas were hot and unpleasant. I will visit next year, if this place is still around. read more
