Whoa, three check-ins??! I guess it's time to review this place. I usually find myself here with coworkers when we feel like making a Target run after lunch since they are so conveniently located within walking distance from each other. But also, they have a pretty decent lunch special during the week that will set you back roughly $10 for lunch and most sets come with their famed garlic breadsticks. For lunch, I usually choose their petite salad selection. The first time was the seared tuna salad on a bed arugula with a lemon olive oil dressing. I remember this dish so vividly because the dressing was so incredibly sour. In addition, the arugula's bitterness was not helping at all. It was a difficult lunch to finish, but I did it anyway. I learned my lesson to just ask for dressing on the side moving forward. The second time was a cartwheel salad that wasn't very memorable, but I remembered I wasn't a fan of the mix. My latest visit proved to be a little better, but it wasn't perfect, haha. I chose to get the South of the Border salad in a wrap (extra $0.79). The cashier suggested I opt into the lunch special, but there was only a $1-$2 difference for the added breadstick. I turned down the offer since I didn't want to fill up on bread. The salad comes with mixed greens, roasted corn, red peppers, avocado, red onion, tomato, red cabbage, pepitas, tortilla strips, Feta cheese and a chili lime vinaigrette. My wrap was missing the avocado and lacked flavor, like it wasn't tossed in the vinaigrette. I'm also not a big fan of raw onions, so I felt like the wrap had a ton of red onions throughout. I should have asked them to exclude, so that was my mistake. However, I do like that you have options to turn any petite/small salad into a wrap or add 5oz of quinoa to any salad (Protein Power for $1.99). I think next time, I'll have to try something else other than their salad to change my luck. My coworker usually gets their pesto pasta and it's pretty darn good. The pesto is a bit heavy and blended with a lot of garlic, but it also pairs really well with the garlic breadstick. However, you're gonna get the garlic burps for awhile, so definitely keep some mints handy if you get the pesto. They also added a few new items to the menu like a cheeseburger and something else. I guess I'll choose to get one of those options next time. Until then, stay hungry friends :) read more

Heard good things about Stonefire Grill and loved the casual clean restaurant I walked into, but I walked out with a very different impression. I came here right around Christmas so maybe the main staff was out, but I had one issue after another. I ordered a plate of bbq tritip and chicken, but realized I got lemon pepper instead. Mainly because my plate came in a pool of oil and grease that I want to believe is not the intended aesthetic. No big deal, I ordered BBQ anyway, so I let them know and got it replaced. The tritip was chewy, cold, hard to cut, and without much flavor. The chicken was fairly the same. I got garlic mashed potatoes with my meal that were pretty good, but my friend who ordered the same got mashed potatoes that seemed to be missing salt and butter. Very strange. Even my buddy was saying it's not usually like this, so hopefully next time will be better. read more

When we eat there it's usually good but I got a to go order and the pasta sauce was runny but chunky. Looked more like salsa than a marinara sauce. The noodles were plain cause the sauce just ran off. I also got a salad and they forgot some items on it. 2 items that were eh. Not really worth the $30. PS. They forgot the breadsticks read more

I decided to do an online order here, and sat at curbside pickup to get my order. I called them, and with a cheerful voice they said "we'll be right with you". Loveee stone fire. The portions are perfect for a family, the breadsticks are better than olive garden, and brisket meals leave you with leftovers. The bathrooms are surprisingly clean but most of the time I get to eat it is because we get it catered at work/school. Everyone is excited when stone fire get brought in. My fave is the pesto pasta. read more

Went here tonight and was so sad being we have been customers since this location opened. Our son and his friend had the ribs and they were gross with way to much fat. The Mac and cheese was mushy which isn't anything we are used to. We went to the condiment station and it was dirty bbq sauce all over no cups and the staff were just socializing talking to each other like they were off the clock. My husband headed to the restroom and they had no paper towels and the bathroom was dirty as is it had not been cleaned in days. Pretty sad about how downhill things have gone and in such a nice area. read more

Need to be removed from DoorDash if you lack the competency to add two sides and a side of bbq sauce on a weekday order.

This is not good and def not good for take out especially if you get the combo plate, if you do ask for everything in the side, au jus, sauce, butter, etc. Even if the food is better dine in it would be a 3 star place. Meat was tender but flavorless. I couldn't tell the difference between the tri tip and the chicken or the ribs except by texture. The breadsticks were weird and chewy. The mac and cheese and the mashed potatoes had this knacky taste of like instant out of the box food. Again no flavor. Couldn't tell those were garlic mashed or even cheese macaroni. The curbside pick up was excellent. Quick exactly on time and courteous. read more

We went here for an unscheduled team lunch and it was great. The family meals have something for everyone. The service at lunch was quick (you place your order at the front and they deliver to your table) and it was all in all a really good experience. The prices are very reasonable. read more

TLDR; avoid at all costs. Worst customer service from this location. Our large family came in on a weekday to eat lunch. We inquired with the staff about what was included with our meal after the food came out and appeared to be less than what we've historically received on prior visits. Our questions were met with inconsistent responses. When brought our salads initially, we were given 2 small bowls. We asked Melinda if our table was getting more, she responded that they were making it and going to bring it out. No more salad bowls were brought over and when asked a 2nd time, we were told the Mega Feast only came with those 2 small bowls. (Supposedly to feed 12). Those 2 small bowls were not what we expected since we have ordered this same feast item at an alternate locations. Furthermore upon greater insistence that the size of the sides were misrepresented/not clear from their menu, we were met with a dismissive attitude and the staff member (Melinda) was argumentative and rude. read more

Good choice! The food never fails! Every time we're up near the area this is a go to spot for my family! The Tri-Tip is a must! That is always our go to dish on the safe side other than the ribs I always get. We only wish we had one in San Diego! Hint hint!! If you're around the area and don't have anything in mind to eat just come here and check out the variety of choices from single meals to family meals. This place hasn't disappointed my kids yet!! read more

Simple food, but always fresh and fairly tasty. Friendly service. Good for families and takeout.

We "sniffed in" on the NASHVILLE CHICKEN TENDERS which had good heat for this now low to no spice eater. The meat was definitely tender and tasty with the right amount of breading (not too little nor too much). PORK RIBS, DARK MEAT CHICKEN and NUTTY COLESLAW meal -- the ribs here are always a nice choice with almost all of the meat being juicy and moist with maybe a couple of little slightly drier spots on the outer edges; the dark meat chicken is moist and juicy and always good; the coleslaw is made the way it should be and will likely be my go-to salad when we come here I like the BREAD STICKS, but do not love them the way some do. I'm a dip my bread in olive oil kind of guy so maybe it is more of a me issue than a them issue. :) read more

When I first started going here, I kept coming back all the time. I then tried their mashed potatoes. There were WHOLE cloves of garlic in it, and not just one but several. There was the same issue in both my husband and I's food. Ok, maybe it was just a one-time thing and they were having an off day. It happened another day. The rest of their food gets old pretty fast. The meat isn't tender or really worth the price. The salad dressing drenches and overpowers you are left with the taste for hours. Please fix the low quality and sloppy effort. I'm willing to try them again if they just get it together. Edit: No, whole cloves does not taste good. It's laziness. You don't care about feedback, just brush off any from people. read more

What a horrible experience. Stopped in to order a salad to go. Once the salad was ready I realized I had forgotten to ask for it to be tossed. I asked the kid at the counter if I could have it tossed. He replied, "yes, but it will be an extra cost." What? I let him know if they couldn't toss it for free I would rather have a refund. He said he would speak with his manager and then came back and offered me a set of thongs to toss it myself. Again, what?! I ended up getting a refund by a manager. You can be sure I will never go back to this location again. Clearly they don't know what customer service is and they are trying to charge for simple modifications to the orders. read more

This is going to be a long review- My wife and I have been meaning to go here for a long time since moving to the area a year ago and we finally made a conscious effort to go this last weekend. My wife and I both got a plate with tri-tip and chicken. Her side was the bbq beans and mine was the garlic mashed potatoes. So we sat down after placing our order at a booth and for whatever reason it took our plates longer to come out than other people who sat down after us who were already getting their meals. Not a big deal but not the best start either. So after it taking around 15 mins for our meals to come out I tasted my chicken and it just had that somewhat "spongy" texture I associate with undercooked chicken. It didn't help that the chicken wasn't hot either. So this led me to inspect the chicken more closely which led me to find pink spots. I usually wouldn't care if it were a little pink but along with the texture and it not being hot, my wife and I decided to send our chicken back (my wife's chicken didn't have a spongy texture but it still wasn't hot). I go up to the counter with our plates and explained the situation to an employee and they graciously and apologetically take the plates to have the chicken replaced. I go back to sit down and a few minutes later our meat comes back. This time the chicken was fully cooked and tasted great, no complaints with it. Now that we're able to eat our meal as a whole, I start digging into the garlic mashed potatoes. No complaints as I started eating them, they were pretty good but once I came towards the end of the serving I felt a CRUNCH in my mouth and slightly panicked thinking that I had a tooth fall out or something for a split second. I inspect what the crunch was in my mouth and come to find I had just eaten a small rock that was in the mashed potatoes. Luckily, the crunch was just the rock grinding against my molar. As far as I can tell, there was no permanent damage done to my mouth from this, just kind of a "numbing" affect from just chowing-down on a damn rock. If someone with more brittle teeth or somehow I chomped at the right angle, I could easily see this doing more damage but thankfully that didn't happen. This is my wife and I's first time here ever and it got to the point where we were both thinking "The universe just doesn't want us to go here. For whatever reason, Stonefire Grill isn't meant for us." There was no malice or disdain towards this place, we were just taking this as a simple cue from the heavens that this would be the only time we would ever come here. With that mindset, we walked up to the manager in the front and explained the situation. My wife had the rock in a napkin to show the manager and he was very apologetic. He ended up giving us $25 back to us as an apology. Our bill was $32 but the price of the meal wasn't discussed as the manager was trying to work as quick as possible to alleviate the situation...I'm okay with the compensation but the manager prooooobably should have made sure our entire bill was covered. The only way I can think of how the rock got in there was from a rotten piece of garlic that the rock somehow got into unless there was foul play involved. There was this odd textured, vegetal/paper-like material around the rock (or at least I think) and I think that may have been a rotten piece of garlic? That's the best theory I have. I don't want to be a jerk who leaves a 1-star review...I think this may be my first 1-star review ever actually? Even though the staff was great about addressing our concerns, any company...ANY company that serves rocks hidden in your food needs a 1-star review to help shed some light on an issue that could have cost them A LOT more. Even though it was a terrible experience, it was one of those "this is so bad, it's kind of funny" experiences. So at least my wife and I have a new recommendation of where NOT to go and I'll always chuckle a little bit whenever I hear Bill Handel doing an ad for this place on KFI. :) read more

Written review vs stars may be confusing so allow me to explain. Monday, October 3rd, I had lunch today with my coworkers, one ordered online for pick up. Upon arrival, they were handed a can of Diet Coke and 2 cups for lemonade. The thought was maybe their isn't Diet Coke in the fountain drinks but there was. There were no lids for the barbecue sauce, had to put those in the salad containers for travel. There weren't any bread sticks...the breadsticks are amazing! Three salads and one bag of chips. The food was delicious (5 stars), but the lack of items was not good. This lunch started off great but ended on a sour note, thank goodness for the great company. read more

We moved back to Irvine having moved away for 4 1/2 years. Before we moved we loved Stonefire. Since we have returned there has been a noticeable downturn in quality. I just ordered a salad that was far from fresh. I literally couldn't eat even half of it. The strips included were stale, the lettuce was far from crisp, not chilled and so blah. I have ordered salads to be delivered and the meat was sparse and not really good at all. SFG...you can do better. read more

This place went from my favorite place to eat to never eating there again. Went their with my family for my nephews birthday and wanted to eat outside. I asked someone to clear the table and was told there is only 1 bus boy and she wanted to seat us somewhere else. Anyways, after 5 mins the tables were cleaned. Went to order the food, asked for the Italian chopped salad and was told they don't have it ( disappointing) proceeded to continue with my order and asked for the cartwheel salad and was also told they don't have it!! What's the hell??? Why are you guys open ????? We ended up settling to the house salad which tasted like crap. The meat was dry and had lots of fat gains in it, bad quality. I use to go to this place once a week, good food, good service and reasonable prices. Not sure what happened, but after and after COVID, this place did 180 degrees to bad service, poor selection and poor quality. There location in Laguna Niguel closed, and i would not be surprised if things don't change quickly, the Irvine location will close as well. What a shame. read more

Our family has been coming here for years. Stonefire is always a hit. Solid American food done very well. I especially like the garlic chicken but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I've never had a bad meal here. There's a nice variety so the kids can enjoy with the adults. Yesterday I had a huge takeout order for about 20 people for a party and it worked out to less than $20 per person. And there was plenty for everyone to take home additional food. I think the manager was helping me his name was Chris. Super polite and helpful and made sure our large order will filled correctly. Just a pleasure to order from here and support this extremely well run business. read more

I've had Stonefire on too many occasions, both in-store and through catering at work. It never disappoints and I always have leftovers! My favorites are: - Pesto Pasta - SO GOOD. You can really taste the freshness in the sauce. I can't get enough of it. Even through catering, the portions are great and the flavor is amazing. - Roasted Corn & Arugula Salad - Ahh my favorite. They use fresh corn! And there's avocado! I also tried their Roasted Veggie pizza. I thought it was okay, I prefer their pasta and salad. But my friend loved the crust--said it was pretty good. Overall, they never fail to make me full and still have enough food for another meal. Great for catering at work too! read more

SOO disappointed. The breadsticks are the reason most people crave Stonefire. Not only are the new breadsticks extremely small, but they also taste TERRIBLE! We threw the entire bag away when we got home. No one in our family could eat them. Giving 2 stars because the rest of the food was still delicious. Thank goodness they didn't change the pesto pasta recipe. It's just unfortunate because it was the breadsticks that kept us coming back. read more

Half the price of the menu family meal with full tri tip, 12 sticks and a full salad (lose the pizza tho so stimulus is better) Tri tip with bbq was good, the garlic butter one was eh. Self pump BBQ sauce means DIY BBQ chicken pizza. If you get chicken on your pizza, would recommend bbq sauce to make it less dry. Salad is dope, soup plantation status! Visited at lunch time. Service was fairly quick but my BBQ chicken salad was very sad. Wilted iceberg lettuce, tiny sparse chicken pieces, a few almonds. Great place if you want decent quality food at a good price. You order upfront with the cashier but the staff will bring out you meals. Drinks are self-serve and they also have beer/wine. Frequent this location pretty often and figured it was time for a review. Came here around 7pm on a Friday night with a party of 4 and was (pleasantly) surprised to find it rather empty. We ordered 1/2 chicken (bbq) and full ribs, Cesar salad and 12 breadsticks meal deal & a full carrot cake. The total was under $60 and we had more than enough leftovers! Could easily be shared with 1-2 more people. Chicken -- amazingly tender and juicy, falls off the bone, delicious! Ribs -- a bit tough for my liking (not as easy to cut out individual ribs for eating) but great with bbq sauce Breadsticks -- to die for. Eat it while it's hot. Pro tip - ask for a side of Cesar dressing and dip your breadsticks in there. Sooooooo good Cesar salad -- the best! For some this may be "spicy" but it's really just how sharp the garlic gets. Carrot cake -- some swear it's the best carrot cake they've ever had. For me, it's a bit too sweet, but good nonetheless. Can't wait to go back! read more
