I agree with the reviews below-- this place has good food and we will be back but we dined here for lunch and the place really needs a good clean. The tables were all sticky and we used our own wipes and the wipes were black. It was weird because we came around opening and no one was at the restaurant. However, the staff here are super friendly and checked up on us! I love their pesto pasta- it is SO GOOD. My husband enjoyed his BBQ tri tip and ribs. Their ceasar salad was very garlic-y (and yummy) and my husband likes their breadsticks more than Olive Garden, Pat & Oscar's, and Pizza Hut. I'd get the pesto pasta again! I recommend for take out! read more

I had the tri-tip and grilled chicken with Mac n cheese. My son really loved his mashed potatoes. Place is obviously a family place. Way too loud to be a date spot, unless you don't want to talk to your date. Always bugs me when they ask for the tip before you even see the food... Especially when the cashier taking the order barely smiles, super unfriendly, walks away before you're done. It might as well be a fast food joint except they bring the food to your table and they're pricier. read more

We haven't been here in about 6 months and our previous experiences have always been really good. Not this time... the breadsticks that we love not only seem like they are a new recipe, but they are almost 1/2 the size that they used to be! They are more expensive, way smaller and don't taste very good at all. My garden salad, boneless chicken breast and hubby's pizza was yummy, yet the breadsticks (and I don't think I received the 2 breadsticks that were supposed to come with my chicken) were bad enough that for the first time, we don't plan to be back to Stonefire anytime soon, as they were a big part of why we liked to eat there. read more

Stonefire Grill - Suddenly small, bland bread sticks. - American Near Me - Irvine, California

Why fill the chili container only 3/4 full? I feel ripped off. What do I need to do to get you to fill it all the way to the top?

Moved to Irvine area about 6 months ago and passed this place countless of times. I am such an idiot for not giving this place a try earlier. Tonight I had an outstanding meal at reasonable price!!! I will become a regular for sure. Awesome job guys. read more

The food is usually good but service has been inconsistent. We order a whole tri tip and pay nearly $45 dollars but it was very disappointing. Even though we order our tri tip rare, the meat was over cooked. It was not even medium. We contacted the restaurant but have not spoken to anyone directly after several weeks. read more

Stonefire Grill - Our "rare" tri tip. - American Near Me - Irvine, California

Just not the same, too expensive and the food use to be good now just average...service is good still

Love this food and service is excellent Been going there 13 yrs and it's always high quality read more

Fast service, spacious place, and great tri tip! Tried their ribs, tri tip, mashed potato, breadsticks, and BBQ chopped salad. Let's start with the good first. I liked the tri tip and ribs! Tri tip was tender and ribs were flavorful! The mashed potatoes lacked was buttery, cheesy, and delicious! Breadsticks are a little overhyped. More of the thin and crispy type and not soft and fluffy but not bad. Their salads come in big portions but for me this really fell short. I got the BBQ chopped salad and you can choose between BBQ chicken or tri tip and I went with the BBQ chicken and how I do regret this... the chicken was bland and rubbed with what should've been bbq sauce but instead it really looked red food coloring. It's really sad to eat tasteless pale red chicken. The salad itself looked and tasted like it came from those mix-it-yourself salad bags. Overall would come back for the tri tip but definitely not getting chicken or salad ever again. read more

Update to my previous review from 2 years ago- For a long time Stonefire was great!! We loved coming here however previously! We came there March 10. The manager was not helpful and seemed confused and too busy to know what to do, even though it didn't seem busy. The bus boy came to clean our table (after we stood waiting for a long time eventually asked if someone could clean the table because they were all dirty) and while cleaning it, the rag fell on the ground under the table, where he picked it up and continued to clean our table with it! Yuck!!! After he left I got my own wipes and sanitized the now dirtier than before table. The food was slow and not very good. Only able to sit outside and hardly any working fire pits so it was freezing too. Bad experience and haven't gone back since. It was our go to place but it was the last straw sort of thing so we don't plan to come back for quite some time. I also agree with others- the breadsticks aren't like they used to be- sometimes too hard! read more

We had a party of 9 people and had no idea where we should go for dinner in Irvine on a Saturday night. The thought of having to wait in line for a long time was very discouraging. Luckily, someone thought of Stonefire Grill and off we went. The location was in a nice plaza with lots of parking. The interior was very family-friendly and cozy. We got the family meal with 1/2 tri tip and full slab of ribs, both with BBQ sauce, which also came with a Caesar salad, mashed potatoes, and garlic breadsticks. Everything was absolutely delicious! The tri tip was super tender and juicy, and the BBQ sauce was not ridiculously heavy on the palette. It was slightly tangy, and really complemented the protein well. Caesar salad was super garlicky, which I loved! The romaine lettuce were fresh and crunchy with just the right amount of dressing. Mashed potatoes were solid as well. As for the garlic breadsticks, man, I really had to stop myself from eating more than two! They were amazing! Overall, Stonefire Grill was great. My belly felt super satisfied afterwards. I can't wait to heat up more breadsticks for lunch today! read more

We ordered one of the current specials for dinner tonight to go, and when we got home we noticed there was an issue with our food. Everything was delicious apart from this, but I still wanted to leave feedback. I left a comment on the website and within 15 mins I got a call from the manager, Nadia, addressing everything and she even sent us a gift card for our next visit. This was the fastest response I've ever received and it was greatly appreciated. It seemed like they really cared about making it right. We can't wait to come back! read more

Food is good but they mistreat military. We were told by the manager the last time here what the discount was. Yet they would not honor it. If you respect the military go somewhere else. I hate being lied too and by the same manager. Avoid!!!! read more

CATERING & DATES: I've been to stonefires a lot since I was 16! This Irvine location is so awesome. The staff are very friendly and hard working. I have tried every pasta and veggie dish they have here, as well as meat! Trip tip, chicken, roasted veggies, mashed potatoes, beans, pesto pasta, meaty rigatoni, and soooo much more! I had a catering order for many events & they never disappoint! They include everything you need and it's very awesome. The man helping me out was so nice that it made me want to leave this review. A lot of people asked where I got the food from, and I was like, Stonefire! read more

Food was mediocre. Last time I came here was years ago and the food was great. Not sure what happens but food quality is like a bad buffet.

Ordered online and there was no bbq sauce for tri tip or ribs. Would normally go back to the restaurant but it would take about 20 mins one way. Was offered a whopping $5 refund from the GM James, which I felt was insulting as we paid $25 for the tri tip and ribs. Now we're left with dry meat that we probably won't eat... They also hung up on me which was pretty rude. Would have been nice to receive better customer service. Wanted to update as the GM James reached out and apologized and even refunded us for the whole meal! Really appreciate the follow up and will definitely come back. read more

Recently ordered takeout and the aluminum foil from the trays used for the salad, breadsticks, chicken and tri-tip all got onto the food. We only realized while we were packing up leftovers that all the food had aluminum foil pieces on them from the tray! We had to throw away more than half of the food we bought.. We immediately called, sent photos of the aluminum foil pieces, and the manager said that could not happen because they use the best quality vendors for their supplies. He was very reluctant to give any sort of refund. We wanted to give the benefit of the doubt so we ordered takeout again shortly after, but only to find the aluminum foil pieces on our food again... Never order takeout from here!! You will be eating aluminum foil pieces. read more

One of my go to places for dinner on the weekend with my family. We usually order the rib and tri tip family pack which comes with a Caesar salad and 12 pieces of pesto bread sticks. I think it ends up being somewhere between $40-50 in total which isn't too bad since the 4 of us end up being pretty full. Caesar salad: I love their salad! The only thing is that sometimes the salad is pretty dry, but you can request additional dressing at no charge. Pesto bread sticks: I love carbs, so I obviously love the break sticks as well. Only thing is that sometimes they don't put that much pesto so it just ends up tasting like bread lol. Also, their texture is not consistent; sometimes the sticks will be nice and crispy and other times they would just be a hot, soggy mess. Ribs: They are decent, but I've had much better. The meat can be a bit tough sometimes. There is a mild bbq flavor, but if you wanted more you can get extra bbq sauce at the self serve area. Tri tip: My favorite meat from this place. I usually order it medium-well and sometimes I've had it come in as medium or ever well done lol. I love how the meat is soft, tender, and flavorful. Overall, this is a good place to have dinner if you are in a party of 4+ and want a casual place to just sit and chat over some good American style food. The only thing I wish they did a better job on is being more consistent with the quality of food they put out. Since I am a frequent customer, I do notice the variations. Don't forget to join their rewards program as well! read more

Food was amazing, everyone loved the food! So much so, we barely had left overs and thats saying something because the portions were very generous. The manager also was very accommodating to my catering requests so service was wonderful. The hostess who helped us decide on food was also so kind and accommodating, I have nothing but good things to say. Thank you guys!! read more

Went to Irvine for an early 5:30pm dinner to take advantage of the 25 year anniversary promotion. Doors were locked and we were turned away. Employee told us they closed the dining room because they couldn't keep up with all the orders. They were overwhelmed?! Poor planning for this event. We won't return again. read more

I have only been a few times to Stonefire and had it once when it was catered. I suppose it is par for the course when it comes to casual dining restaurants. The food quality is average and the service as well. I think during lunch is the worst time to come as the lunch rush creates confusion and chaos. There were 6 people in our group and 4 got their food about 10 minutes before the other 2. That's poor timing. I heard other tables complaining about the same issue - not getting their food timely and having tor remind the servers. The timeliness of service during a weekday lunch is critical for those getting back to work. Okay so now let's move on to the food. I needed to up my protein so I had the combo plate of lemon garlic chicken breast and bbq tritip. I upped the portion of chicken breast to the full size (versus the petite size). As my side, I ordered the cauliflower salad. I enjoyed the meal for what it was worth. The cauliflower salad was different. It had hints of spiciness but offset with the taziki that was blended in the salad. The chicken was perfectly cook - extremely moist and tender but was suprised with chunks of garlic on top. The tritip is highly reviewed and rated but I honestly think it could have been better. I'm a huge fan of beef and bbq but this did not meet expectations. It was a little tough for my liking. Overall the experience was fine. If given a choice, I would have rather gone to urban plates or another casual dining spot. read more

Superb service and tasty food. Mainly experienced takeout pre covid19 and during covid19. They have staff out front to check on customers. Customer service was great, friendly staff. You can see into the kitchen. We usually order the tri tip and bbq chicken. The tri tip is butter soft. The bbq chicken has a nice crust but is still moist and juicy inside. The garden salad comes with fresh ingredients. Their bread sticks are so yummy! I am so happy with the food and service here read more

Really great service for a busy crowded place at 6pm. Luckily they have a good system where you put your name down to get a table first and when your table is ready, they will let you know, THEN you can order, so it avoids the confusion of where you can sit and have your food. Wait time was around 20 minutes. Price range is reasonable and the meals can feed a bit more than suggested. I recommend having their garlic mashed potatoes and breadsticks! PROS: Good location inside a plaza and near Target, family meals are great deals, great customer service CONS: Crowded on a busy time thus their utensils ran out quite quickly. Food got cold quick when you sit near the doors or under the AC. read more

We arrived at 825 pm and asked if we could dine in The cashier says yes and starts to take the order. Moments later are a very rude manager named Nadia comes over and she says no we can't sign in and we can't place any order. After asking her for the contact email or number for the general manager she says she's "refusing service" This place is absolutely ridiculous. They should've fired on the spot. Keep treating customers this way there won't be any need for Nadia or staff We are rewards members but will not be spending money at this location again. If a GM is needing this you guys need to hire better staff focused on customer service and not people like Nadia The cashier comes by later and places the take out order w d apologizes saying Nadia has a long day. Regardless she's the manager of she can't handle the job she should quit. We came to enjoy an evening and celebrate a bday that was ruined. Stonefire sucks read more

I've been in love with the Stonefire Grill in Fountain Valley for YEARS. Today I decided to visit the one in Irvine for a large takeout order. They got my friend's name written down wrong, which isn't a big deal but it made the process go by a lot slower. Upon getting home and seeing the orders, I realized that the pesto pasta meal was tiny in comparison to what I usually receive. The tri-tip was $16 and was so small. We didn't even get the elote that my friend was dying to try even though we paid for it. The breadsticks are usually amazing but this time around they made us a bit sick. The tri-tip we ordered was supposed to be a medium... it came out well done. Our entire order was over $50 and could not even feed 4 people adequately. Update a few hours later.. the food did not sit so well with 3 out of 4 of the people who ate it. I hope no one else experiences this.. ): read more

I do love Stonefire Grill's food - the tri tip is always amazing, delicious salads and great beans. I'm today disappointed in the feast of 12 we ordered in our group. I wish they allowed two different pastas instead of one pasta and 2 different side dishes instead of one. Some of the group wanted mashed potatoes but I wanted beans. But, sadly, didn't get beans. Since they only allowed one side for both! Also, the chicken didn't taste cooked today. But, Stonefire is always a yummy place to eat just maybe go with a smaller group - and get different sides and more tri tip to share. And beans!! read more

The youngsters working here don't seem the least bit enthused to have a job these days and earn a honest living (heaven forbid). As far as the kids meal, missing drink, Ranch and unpeeled Carrots. Maybe the back kitchen also has its fair share of issues. Place is going way way south. Sad, because it was one of my faves for a family dinner. I get shrinkflation, but it is happening to human beings too. Makes me bummed. read more

I got a chicken salad and it was ok. Not a lot of chicken but that wasn't not my main issue. I ordered my son the tritip and asked for well done. Too bad it was medium. They also didn't bring his bread sticks. I talked to a server and she talked to her manager and they made him a new order of tritip. He had already ate most of the tritip on the first order before I found out it was rare. Too bad the new batch was also rare. It is what it is, I know well done is not the preferred way to make it but when you are dealing with a kid, things like this is tough. I appreciate them for making a new one, so my review is my disapoontment in the execution of the food than anything. I would not eat here again due to sup par food. Also no French fries was a bit of a let down. read more

Came in for lunch today at 1:20pm. Great! Not busy, no lines, hand full of tables occupied. Ordered Lemon Garlic Chicken, 1/2 Basket Garlic Bread Sticks, & a Petite Smoked BBQ Chopped with TriTip ..... then added extra Lemon Garlic sauce (YUMMMMMMYYYYY!) which is great for dipping any food in it. The staff smiled, but it appeared they were somewhat new because there were some minor mistakes (not earth-shattering, but noticeable): It took 16 minutes to get our food (HUMMM......salad & chicken), then our server who brought the food out forgot to take the Number Device telling us our food is ready (the supervisor/mgr came over and apologized). Other than that, food was very good, I LOVE chunks of GARLIC with the lemon oil. Keeps the vampires away. HA! The Stonefire BBQ Chopped was exquisitely put together, lettuce crisp and fresh, not soggy like some places. The chicken was VERY tender, enough to use a fork to take pieces off the bone with ease. Safe place to eat a healthy meal AND great place for any party size up to 12. You literally can feed an "army" with their meals. The selection is awesome: TriTip, Ribs, Chicken, Salmon, Breadsticks (to DIE FOR), salads and much more including dessert. read more
