I love this place! I haven't been in a while because I moved away but I took my mom out for her Birthday and remembered how awesome this place is. The food is very good but what makes the place great is the customer service. No one person is assigned to be your waiter so EVERYONE is polite and helpful. I special shout out to Junior for taking the initiative in helping us switch tables with out us asking because he noticed I was cold sitting next to the door to the outside seating!!!! Location: Stonefire grill is located on Barranca officially, but you can get to it off Culver which is somewhat more of a main street through Irvine. Look for the plaza with a target, and a giant 24 hours fitness. Plenty of parking near stonefire usually. Obviously if you go at night it will get a little more crowded, but never had an issue finding a spot somewhere. Service: Whether we eat in or get take out customer service is generally really good. Only had one slightly less than perfect experience and that was during the holiday rush. If you have been to stonefire during this time, you know they are inundated with giant catering orders because their food is good, fast and cheap. A forgivable offense given that they were probably going crazy. And they did resolve my issue anyway. Usually people are very polite and there is always someone on hand to take your order. When getting take out they always review the order before handing it to you to make sure its correct which is much appreciated. Food: Its very hard for me to go here and not get a stonefire chopped salad with tri tip. Hands down my fav salad. The only thing I wish they would add is some avocado, but thats my preference. The sizes are great - from individual portions pre tossed at lunch to large portions which will honestly feed about 4-5 people entree size portions. We've tried several of the salads on the menu and I can't review all of them here, but the only one we've not liked really was actually one of the simplest - the caesar. The dressing was really garlicy and just too much for us. Breadsticks are always yummy - and a half basket (6) is great for a couple people. We usually go for salads here but we have tried the trip tip, chicken and baked ziti - again no complaints, and good value for what you get. We have yet to get the pizza and honestly I don't see a lot of people eating it, but I'm sure its not bad. Family meals are a great value too when ordering for a bigger group. Overall: Definitely a go to place in Irvine for salads and for good value for food. Huge variety and always popular. If you live in Irvine, you know Stonefire. The take out service is fantastic. Tri tip i ordered was real good and had the right redness to it. The chicken was moist and the bbq sauce completed it well. The carrot cake ah this is where I felt they lacked the cake had been sitting in the fridge the whole day it was kind of on the soggy side. I love this place. The food is tasty and is served in generous portions, and it is crazy cheap! For example, the special they have had recently goes a little something like this: 1lb of tri-tip, 1 2-topping pizza, HUGE Caesar salad, a HUGE basket of breadsticks, and I think a side or two, (in all, enough to feed at least 3-4 heavy eaters) for $19!!! Got the 1/4 chicken and tritip combo here a while back. Chicken was dry and unappetizing. The tritip was flavored oddly; I wasn't able to eat much of the entire combo. Ended up stuffing self on carbs and getting a stomach ache. I think I spent about $14-16 after taxes. Unfortunately, it sounds like Stonefire's a hit-or-miss with their food and I'd rather take my business to a place that delivers every time. read more

Here, the pizza and sides dishes are okay, but it's the meat that really knocks your socks off. The lemon garlic chicken has gobs of garlic and the bar-b-q chicken is slathered just right. They grill the chicken without it charring so there seems to be a lot of oil & fat when you bite into the meat. And the tri-tip is very tender and moist. The price for the tri-tip is a bit more than I'd like so I usually opt for the chicken. And the baby back ribs are good, but the ones I had didn't have that much meat on them. The garlic breadsticks are pretty good as well as the fresh salads. Drinks have free refills and the weekly lunch deals are a real great steal! read more

The most tender tri-tip you will ever taste anywhere! We ordered the $29.99 Family meal that came with 12 garlicky-goodness breadsticks, 2 lbs of "like buttah" tri-tip (half with mesquite BBQ sauce and half with pepper garlic with blue cheese. Stick with the mesquite BBQ), and a Colliseum-sized bowl of Greek Salad (enough to feed a hungry family of 12). The menu suggested that this was good for a family of 4. My friends and I joked that it feeds an American family of 4 or an Asian family of 6..heheh. Will be coming back again to try their other offerings for sure!!!! P.S. Great for groups. This is a very interesting place, I don't think I can compare it to any other restaurant. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The portions are huge. good food for the price. we always come here when we want to feed a large group on a budget. they also have coupons in the mail sometimes that you can look out for. i lay out is a little bit confusing. i guess it is part server part self serve. you order at the front but there aren't really any lines that form even when its busy. there almost maybe a wait for tables if it is busy but otherwise it is self seating. after you order you self-serve your own drinks, plates, napkins, etc. and you are served your food. the staff look like mostly teenagers or college kids but they have always been really friendly, patient, and helpful. the food: i dont think the food is that fantastic, but for the price it is a pretty good deal. don't expect gourmet dining. sometimes with the beef items such as the tri tip is hit or miss. it can be really tough and dry and other times it can be yummy. the other meats are safer bets. the salmon is really good and they do a good job on it. i got the lemon garlic and it came with chunks of garlic. the chicken is really good too. choice of bbq or lemon garlic. it taste very similar to how rotisserie chicken tastes but with extra flavor. very moist meat not dry at all. they charge for bread sticks but i don't think they're that good. unless you eat them while they're hot they can get kinda hard and not as good. save your calories. the portions are really really big. if it says it will feed 2 you could probably feed 3. the environment is self-serve but clean and friendly. indoor and outdoor seating but i haven't had a chance to eat outside yet. great for groups and family style dining. read more

I expressed to Stonefire Grill last week on how upsetting it was that no one followed up on what had happened with my recent experience at Stonefire Grill. Well my mind has quickly changed since. I filed a compliant and corporate got back to me later that day. They did not want to turn a customer away and insisted on sending me some gift certificates to try them out again. WOW! Now that's what I call superb customer service! I have given other restaurants 1 star for lack of customer service and what not, they would send and email on what they can do to fix it but never do follow up with me after wards. Ordered catering for Christmas Eve party for 12 people. Pickup location was Lakewood. We were promised 5pm pickup. Got there at exactly 5pm and saw about 40 people, mostly upset because their order was late. I got in line and was told they are backed up and my order would be about 50 minutes late. 6pm comes around and I ask again. Was told another 30 minutes!! After waiting around outside with many other upset people, they finally called my order number at 6:50 pm!!! Keep in mind it was a 5pm pickup time. I understand they are busy, but the company only cared about making $$$ that they totally stressed out the staff working there, as it was evident in them running around like crazy and being yelled at by angry customers. Really?? Nearly 2 hours wait time?? Myself and other people waiting all agreed that we would not order from this place again. By the way, the meat was also undercooked, as they only wanted to push out the orders ASAP. Horrible, terrible experience! Food was undercooked and mediocre at best. The food portions for the price are really expensive, they fill it in with bread sticks which I don't eat and a large salad. great service, good family packages. went over for lunch after church with family. it was my first time here and i've never heard or seen the place before even though i ate across the lot in the fast food section many times. we ordered a little bit of everything. whole garlic lemon chicken i think it was. it was o.k. just chicken, nothing special. i didnt like the flavor too much the bbq tri-tip was nice and juicy, i think the other one was peppercorn? it was dry and chewy. we had a cheese pizza with mushrooms which i thought rocked. fresh out of the oven im guessing. nice crust and all. the garlic bread and ceasar salad rocked. i cleaned that up real nice. when our orders were comming in, they mixed up our order and instead of the chicken brought a rack of ribs so we told them it wasnt ours. as the waiter was heading back i blurted out "can we work on the ribs while we wait for the chicken" but i guess he didnt hear me or didnt want to hear me and walked away with looking back. we got our chicken quickly, within 5 minutes so we got to work on other stuff. the waitresses were nice and checked up on us frequently and not to an annoying point. i hessitated to between a 4 and 3 star but i ended up giving it a 3 because theres so many other places that has this type of food. so yea, thats that. read more

Stonefire grill is, for lack of a better word, COOL! The best bang for your buck is their lunch special deal. I believe it's $5.99 for your choice of a variety of items. My personal favorite is the Lemon Garlic Half-Chicken served with garlic bread and nutty cole slaw. When they say "half-chicken," they truly mean a half chicken. The portions are huge and the chicken is incredibly juicy for how quickly (and how much) they're pumping out in the kitchen. The skin is slightly crisp and cooked in a lemony sauce, covered with garlic. Garlic lovers rejoice because they do not skimp on the garlic. Now, if you are not a garlic fan, you might want to avoid this dish. The breadstick has a light dusting of Parmesan, butter, and a sprinkle of parsley. The nutty coleslaw is not the typical drenched-in-mayonnaise coleslaw that so many places serve. There is a good amount of dressing, with peanuts to pack a punch. I've tried a number of other items including the tri-tip sandwich, BBQ sandwich, personal pizza, but the lemon garlic chicken reigns supreme thus far. Add a beverage for just $1. Sweet! read more

This place was a great find! A little unconventional for such a large place. You order and pay at the counter and they bring you your food. You have get your own plates, utensils, and drinks. The food is pretty delicious. I have gotten the greek and cesear salad, both were really good, lots of dressing just the way I like it. The breadsticks were good, too. I ate at this Stonefire Grill for the first time this afternoon to celebrate my cousin's graduation. There were eleven of us, so we ordered several different dishes to share, including: two salads (Italian and BBQ chicken, 2 pizzas (1 pepperoni, 1 half-cheese, half-vegetarian), a full rack of baby back ribs, the tri-tip, baked chicken, and breadsticks. I thought the Italian salad tasted great, the ribs were soft and delicious, the breadsticks mouth-watering, and the pepperoni pizza tasty! Service was fast and friendly. Visited during lunch on a weekday. The restaurant & take out get pretty busy with several people during their lunch breaks. You order at the counter, get a number, then take a seat and your food is delivered to you. There's plenty of seating inside and out. Service is excellent! The servers are very attentive and friendly! Service is fast as well, which helps for those with limited time during lunch. I ordered the steak sandwich, which was ok. It was a little small for the price. For a side dish, it was an additional .99. Next time I'll try a pizza or a lunch special, which looked like a better deal. read more

I dont like that you dont get to look at the menu until you are up there ordering which slows down the process. I wasn't so crazy about the pizza, I was hoping for it to be well cooked & with great ingredients. The toppings were good and of descent quality but the cooking & dough wasn't at it's best. I've lived in Irvine for four years always passing by this establishment but never made the trip, however a few days ago I tried it out. The menu seemed to boast a variety of offers and my appetite was definitely enticed. Upon his suggestion we opted for the peppered butter tri tip meal offering a salad/side alongside two breadsticks. Not having eaten all day, an order of tomesto pasta joined our bounty. I was extremely hungry and I believe Stonefire delivered. First off I am a sucker for breads and salads, they seem to be the most appealing portion of meals to me. The Caesar salad was well dressed, fresh and crisp. The breadsticks - though on the small side - were perfectly warmed, crisp, buttery and cheesy. I seriously was considering ordering more just because how tasty they were. The pasta was adorable as it was split between the creamy pesto and tangy marinara. Personally I preferred the marinara portion finding the pesto to fall a little flat on flavor, however the creamy quality when mixed with the marinara tamed the acidic quality of the tomatoes. The tri-tip came last but was on the side of underwhelming. Desirably medium, it came out more on the medium well side leaving it drier. The peppered butter option I would suggest to defer from and opt for the BBQ sauce version instead. The portion was relatively decent and left my stomach full, but I am known to be a bird when I eat! My biggest suggestion would be offering a reasonably sized combo or option offering an array of foods for two people since the restaurant seemed to cater more towards the larger parties. Service was amazing, all of the workers seemed happy and helpful in the very well kept establishment. All in all, I would come back but definitely not something I would find myself personally regularly visiting, unless someone invited me for an event. Stonefire definitely isn't the hottest girl at the club, but at the end of the night she's a solid looker who you know won't leave you asking for more. read more
