I don't know how this place has 4 stars! Talk about over rated. We went there for a quick bite to eat, and it was quick, I'll give them that. I ordered the tri tip and greek salad combo, as did my husband. My son ordered the quinoa salad. Our ordered arrived with bread sticks. The greek salad, tri tip AND the breadsticks were flavorless. The tri tip didn't even look like tri tip, it was a strange color of artificial pink. No juices flowed from the meat. If we hand't have made a trip for some extra self serve "bbq sauce" there would have been no taste what so ever. There were no grill marks or any indication that it had actually been cooked on site. How hard is it to make a decent greek salad? Feta and kalamata olives usually add a punch of flavor, but these salads has such tiny amounts of them that the salad was completely bland. The accompanying bread sticks were equally bland. You know it's bad when you have to salt your bread to try to bring it flavor. The only decent thing was the quinoa salad. I almost think there should be 2 scores on yelp. One for the food and 1 for the service. We take so many meals To Go that the service doesn't play a part typically. Anywho- found this place while looking for lemon chicken and was pleased with everything we ordered. The lemon garlic chicken was moist and flavorful. The garlic mashed potatoes had cheese and full pieces of roasted garlic in them. Some of the best I've had. The BBq beef sandwich was flavorful and tender on a great bun. The beans were just so so. I went to eat here on Monday September 9th with three other friends after 7pm. My friends received all of their meals and sides before I had to stand up and ask for my food. The nice waitress apologized and went to check on my food. Nearly 10 minutes later, she came out with my food but all my friends were done eating. So if you do your math, nearly 35 minutes later, I got my food minus a salad that was also ordered. I told her to package it up for me as I was no longer hungry from the anger and she went back. Over 5 minutes go by and the manager comes out with my packaged food and says, "I'm sorry about your food. We must have lost the ticket or something." Not wanting to cause a scene, I looked in the bag and saw the wrong salad (Ceaser). I asked him for the correct salad (Cauliflower salad) and he says. "Oh I'm sorry I wouldn't get that salad, the cauliflower is not looking so good." Seriously!?! Why would you even sell that salad if you know it's no good? It's not that the food was late and that's one portion, but why would the manager make excuses for something he knows is already wrong? All of my friends were disappointed and I left there angry and hungry. I would seriously consider another restaurant before going here and them losing your ticket, getting no food or bad food because as the manager said, "The cauliflower is no good." I always love taking my parents here to eat. The service is great, the food is sometimes too burnt, but other than that it tastes great. Would like more areas to sit, again that's only because it's busy here. Other than that no complaints, just great all around. Would definitely come back here. read more

I have mix feelings about this place because I don't really know how to review this place. It's great for what it is, a filler buffet. You walk in and order first and they will bring food to your table. The staff was pretty nice but a bit inexperience and seemed lost. Went there today for lunch. While I have always loved their dinners of garlic tri tip and chicken, we were really disappointed with our lunches. My wife had the Santa Fe salad and I had the Italian chopped with tri tip salad. Both were so bland that all we wanted to do was reach for the salt! The dressing was watered down. And where was the beef? Seriously, at first I thought they'd forgotten to put some in my salad. Then I spotted a few pieces the size of peas. I doubt if there was more than 2 tablespoons of beef shavings in my bowl. We were really hoping this would be our new go to lunch place, but why would we return after this experience? I had one of the most incredible culinary experience of my life. I've been going to the Stonefire Grill for years and had "good" food every time. This weekend my wife and I shared a lemon chicken dish along with Stoneware's classic tri-tip and a margarite pizza. We were astounded at the taste from the first bite! The flavor and tenderness of first the chicken and then the beef was amazing! This is both the best chicken and best beef that I have eaten! We had never tried their pizza before. It too was amazing with an incredibly wonderful taste, great crust, and just a superb experience. After eating every last bite of dinner, we tried their carrot cake for dessert! It was pure heaven. We asked and apparently they did change their menu and preparation methods slow cooking their meats and creating an incredible gastric experience. An excellent restaurant has just jumped several levels beyond superb! My boyfriend and I were in town to see a concert at the Five Point Amphitheater and we found this place through yelp because it was nearby. We came for an early Saturday night dinner, but there was already quite a crowd. This restaurant has quite a few doors, so we quickly discovered that we entered the wrong one, but managed to wander to the proper entrance, where the nice greeter explained that the restaurant's process was to order and pay first before finding a seat. The restaurant was quite noisy even though not all the tables were occupied and definitely has a casual, family friendly ambiance. My boyfriend ordered the tritip meal which included the Caesar salad and breadsticks. I ordered the half rack of ribs ala carte. The breadsticks and salad arrived first. The garlic breadsticks were pretty dense but soft. Overall pretty good. The Caesar salad had croutons and shaved Parmesan, but something in the dressing was surprisingly spicy which threw us off. It was another solid wait before the rest of our food arrived. When our server arrived with our entrees, he first handed the tritip to my boyfriend, and then placed my ribs in front of me. However, he had a bad habit of serving the plates in a tilted manner, and since the plates were more like flat trays, my ribs proceeded to slide right off its dish and straight onto the table. I stared in shock as the server apologized and repeatedly asked me if I wanted a new one. As I was contemplating on how sanitary the table was, the server continued to push the plate in feeble attempts to "scoop" the ribs back into it without touching them. Unfortunately, the laws of physics just wouldn't let the ribs float back to their original location, so I just stared in horror as the server proceeded to push the ribs off the table and into my lap, which then fell flat onto the floor. Okay, well I definitely can't eat that now. The server apologized again and said that he was going to get me a new order. He picked up the ribs and ran off. Extremely annoyed, I wiped myself and the chair up, and had to avoid the BBQ splat on the ground for the rest of the meal. Sure, they're making me a new one, but that meant I was going to be late to my concert because of how much longer it was going to take. Not only that, but the server never bothered to come back with extra napkins or help clean up the sauce that had landed up everywhere. We had ordered the tritip medium, but it was closer to medium well. It came with this herb butter that looked like it was curdling as it melted over the steak. It gave off a stank and tasted foul so my boyfriend scraped it off to the best of his ability, but it had already melted onto most of his steak. When my ribs finally arrived, they were pretty moist, but had no flavor other than the light brushing of the bbq sauce on top. No salt, no pepper, not much of a crust... You might as well have boiled it and then brushed it over with barbeque sauce. There were also no wet towels to be seen, so we had to make trips to the bathroom to wash our hands off after eating the ribs all while trying to make sure we didn't step on the bbq sauce on the floor. Overall the food was disappointing, and the service was terrible. Both of us agreed that the breadsticks was the best item of the night. Neither of us would ever come back again. read more

The recession package is a great deal. But this time I tried the chicken and tri tip. I love the chicken, which i got lemon garlic, and it came with awesome chunks of garlic. The tri tip, got BBQ and was nice and tender. Also got the garlic mashed potatoes which also had chunks of garlic which was awesome. The breadsticks were ok, primarily due to flavor not being strong, but they were still pretty good. I recommend the recession package :). Around $20 bucks for pizza, salad, tri tip and breadsticks. We get there, waited 10 minutes to be seated. After we got seated, waited another 15. Realized nobody is approaching us at all. Had to get up and ask a waiter why nobody is approaching us. He said we had to order before we were seated. We did not know that we had to order before being seated. How are we suppose to know this?!!! We wasted 30 minutes there and all I wanted to do was take my family to a nice family lunch. Unbelievable! There were at least 15 waiters and waitresses there and about 2-4 hosts, one of them should at least be trained to let their customers know this. read more

We have eaten here many times in the past and it's always been a good place to eat, however, today new years day we ordered food to go and almost everything was good. I got the combo plate with quarter chicken and ribs and I don't know if it was a slow day so food didn't move well but both the thigh and the ribs were so very dry I had to choke down the one and only bite of each, needed liquid to help it down. Probably the worst ribs I have ever had. I may give them another shot in the future but will be hesitant to try the ribs. We took the food back and they refunded us the meal cost and comped us a desert for the trouble. The manager was very helpful and nice. read more

If I could give 100 stars I would! We used them to cater our wedding, exceptional food and service since we had our tasting to the cleanup at the wedding. The BBQ tri tip, lemon garlic chicken, garden salad with balsamic, pesto pasta and the grilled veggies was what we had. It was all gourmet and so delicious, but also not to fancy. The quality you could taste and the presentation was top notch. It ended up being $15.18(plus tax, tip not included) per person, we had 200people, just can't express how great our complete experience was. Also the tasting was free and extensive! Heard "Handel" advertising Stonefire on KFI, so we thought we'd give it a try. It's like a very expensive fast food joint.....only most of them serve better food than Stonefire ! Cold, tasteless, over priced food. The bread sticks that all the reviewers are talking about are greasy, skinny-looking tepid pieces of dough. The tri-tip, while tender, is marginal at best in the flavor category.. Food presentation is poor and served on a variety of serving pieces. The sides we ordered were cold. Each item is delivered to your table by different runners in no specific order. The ceiling is very high making the decible so loud that you end up screaming at the guy sitting next to you, just to be heard. We just had a very poor experience and would never return. Had lunch here with my co workers. We ordered tri-tip with mushed potato and Cesar salad, BBQ salad, and kale salad. All were good. The meat was tender, and my favorite salad was BBQ salad. I love this place! I haven't been in a while because I moved away but I took my mom out for her Birthday and remembered how awesome this place is. The food is very good but what makes the place great is the customer service. No one person is assigned to be your waiter so EVERYONE is polite and helpful. Checked out Stonefire with a friend and did not leave very impressed. To be honest, looking back, I really don't think I ordered the right thing on the menu. Right after I ordered, I saw that everyone else in the restaurant was ordering pizzas, salads and tri-tips. D'OH! The thing about this restaurant is that it focuses mostly on big, family sized portions and meals. Coming with a group of friends might be perfect, because you can get a really affordable meal of a pizza, pasta or tri-tip, salad and breadsticks for like $30. In fact, they have this really awesome patio that is perfect for a small gathering. But as far as catering to people who are more individualistic or groups of two, it doesn't really seem to be the right place. I ended up going with the BBQ Beef Sandwich with a side of Cowboy Beans. Ended up being just a bunch of roast beef in a ridiculously hot (temp. wise) BBQ sauce on a bun. Tasted like something I could get from Subway, to be honest. Cowboy beans were even worse, just standard pinto beans and came out extremely cold. As I said, I probably made a mistake in ordering something that is not their specialty but why put something on the menu when it's going to be below sub-par right? Other than that, the staff was pretty friendly and quick. I'm sure Stonefire can be really good, but until then, 2 stars. read more
