We've ordered the Family Meals several times in the past years. The quality of the meats and consistency of the food has been hit and miss. Often he ribs are burnt and overlooked with bands of black spots. For our Mother's Day dinner yesterday, the Tri-tip was just not edible because there was a thick strip of tendon in the middle and it was severely undercooked even though we had asked for medium well. For awhile this place had a bunch of food for a great deal. Pizza, tri-tip, salad and bread sticks all for 19.99. It would feed my wife and I for two night at least. However even without this deal, the place still has decent food for decent price. I highly recommend the pizza which is way better than those pizza chains. Went to this place for the first time yesterday and was pretty surprised by how good and how cheap everything was. At first impressions this place is a lot like Pat & Oscar's because you order in front and then go sit down where they bring you you're food. We got the Breasticks, the Tri-Tip, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and the Chicken Tortilla Soup. I especially liked the Tri-Tip over everything else. So you're feeling like you want a meal that could feed the whole village? Go here. A "small salad" is more like a medium, "medium" is more like a large, you get where I'm going with this. I've tried the chinese chicken salad, the bbq chopped salad (comes with choice of chicken or tri tip), and the south of the border salad. All are pretty good, come tossed, and they don't go heavy on the dressing. Except they're friggin huge! You can always tell who the newbies are because they order the "small" but are mortified once they see a gigantic pile of greens set in front of them. I like their tomato basil pizza and has a pretty thin crust, which I prefer over thicker crust. The pizzas are not as ginormous as the salads. Currently they do have the "express lunch" menu which has a "petite" salad (which can still be shared by 2 people). I think there's about 5-6 options on their "express lunch", but don't quote me on that. Some come with soup, breadsticks, and a variety of salads. I've tried the meats here but I tend to think they're really dry. They have a bbq sauce pump next to the go get yourself fountain drinks and I think its pretty good to smother over your meat. They also have to go boxes underneath the bbq pump so that you can bring home the leftovers. Prices are decent, people are nice, its clean, and it has a fire pit out in front...hence stonefire. read more

Food is excellent. Since the first time we got lunch catered here for work about three years ago, we haven't gone anywhere else. Everything at the worst, is very good. The pesto pasta, breadsticks, garlic chicken, carrot cake, and cheesecake are excellent. But I guess it's a chain... sometimes I wonder if the city of Irvine only allows chains in... yeah, there's the occasional mom and pop joint but the vast majority are chain restaurants/stores. If your family has the craving for salad AND tri tip AND pizza AND baby back ribs then this is your place! The tri tip portions seemed tiny to me. The meat was good but nothing spectacular. Usually, my work place orders this in huge catering trays for meetings. They always order the Southwestern salad, pasta dish, tri tip or chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, and the garlic bread. Everything tastes delicious, even when it has been a couple of days old. Finally went to Stonefire during lunch. My coworker kept saying a small salad was huge, but I didn't believe her until after eating the food. I ordered the lunch combo with 1/2 of Lemon Garlic Chicken, a petite salad, and garlic bread sticks for $9 something. Such a great deal!! I was fully satisfied from consuming a petite salad and bread sticks, leaving the chicken to eat for dinner. I love this place but really feel that customer service has taken a dive here. When you can't upgrade a salad that comes with a meal even when your willing to pay an up charge is just stupid. It cost you a sale today because I don't want to order a full pound of tri tip for one person and a salad but if that's the stand you want to take you will probably be losing more then a one time sale I won't be coming back to a restaurant that won't work with their menu. It is not like I asked you to comp it or do something that was not even on your menu. Every time I go there, everyone enjoys their food and I've never heard one complaint. From before my vegan days, if you're getting dessert I would definitely suggest the blueberry cheesecake. Stonefire is the best bang for your buck for dinner in Irvine. The stimulus package is the best deal and feeds 3-4 people, and comes with a salad, 2-topping pizza, and your choice of steak/tri-tip/ribs at only $25. I usually get the tri-tip, and since they usually cook it more than you ask for, I would ask for rarer than you would normally order. Sometimes the tri-tip is a hit or miss, either tender or really hard to chew. The caesar salad dressing is the best I've tried at any restaurant, and the BBQ sauce is on point. The service is always consistent, and they're really quick and efficient at getting out your food. read more

The wife and I got to try the salad, breadsticks, tri-tip, ribs, grilled vegetables, mac and cheese, lemon pepper half chicken and the brownie. The flavors reminded of good home cooking and the portions are very representative of this large family influenced restaurant. The prices were extremely reasonable, the staff was very friendly/helpful, and the cleanliness for this much traffic was top-notch. I felt like I could've eaten in their restroom if I had to! I don't know how this place has 4 stars! Talk about over rated. We went there for a quick bite to eat, and it was quick, I'll give them that. I ordered the tri tip and greek salad combo, as did my husband. My son ordered the quinoa salad. Our ordered arrived with bread sticks. The greek salad, tri tip AND the breadsticks were flavorless. The tri tip didn't even look like tri tip, it was a strange color of artificial pink. No juices flowed from the meat. If we hand't have made a trip for some extra self serve "bbq sauce" there would have been no taste what so ever. There were no grill marks or any indication that it had actually been cooked on site. How hard is it to make a decent greek salad? Feta and kalamata olives usually add a punch of flavor, but these salads has such tiny amounts of them that the salad was completely bland. The accompanying bread sticks were equally bland. You know it's bad when you have to salt your bread to try to bring it flavor. The only decent thing was the quinoa salad. Pat & Oscars was better than this place. Disappointed! read more

Anywho- found this place while looking for lemon chicken and was pleased with everything we ordered. The lemon garlic chicken was moist and flavorful. The garlic mashed potatoes had cheese and full pieces of roasted garlic in them. Some of the best I've had. The BBq beef sandwich was flavorful and tender on a great bun. The beans were just so so.
