Great Experience. Visited Thursday night while staying at the castle on business. Being a business traveler i'm accustomed to dining alone (usually sitting at the bar of whatever restaurant) and this visit was nothing different. Except, the girls who were working were just wonderful. I couldn't decide what to drink and they asked a few simple questions then made me a custom cosmo which was delish! They were friendly and welcoming, and made the "dinner for one" experience much more delightful than it typically is. They also let me order off of Edgar's menu so that I didn't have to sit in the formal dining room alone... Had the seafood chowder which was great and a prime rib which I would give 3 stars... but the experience overall was a 5. Thank you ladies for making my visit pleasant! read more

Great spot located inside the belhurst castle on Seneca lake. There "less formal" option. Great burgers and sandwiches... And always a great view. This place literally has my favorite bar in the finger lakes. Low leather chairs and the bar is lower into the ground so the bartenders or the shelves of bottles do not come between you and the best view of the finger lakes. A must stop for a burger and a cocktail. read more

If this restaurant wasn't part of a historic hotel it would never make it. Our server was pleasant enough but was either overworked or not that efficient. Ordered lunch, it was not crowded, and food took a very long time to come out. One of our party ordered coffee, which was delivered promptly, but took another 5 minutes to get cream. Food came out of the kitchen and was sitting on a tray a few feet from us for quite a while before being served. Sandwiches were generally ok, but grilled chicken on salad was dry and chewy. This place has all the components to be a great restaurant but needs to review their procedures to improve the customer experience. read more

Enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon at Belhurst Castle. Before dinner we enjoyed a wine tasting in their wine shop. Great wine but overpriced. We had an option of a buffet or sit down meal and chose the sit down. This consisted of their traditional menu with Thanksgiving specials. They have a very extensive wine list. Three of us ordered the turkey dinner, with soup and salad. The other chose the sea bass which unfortunately did not come with salad like the other meals. Soup and salads were great. Turkey dinner was prepared nicely and was quite tasty. The sea bass was not the best cut of fish but okay. We all had coffee and dessert to round out this great meal. We would definitely return for another meal. read more

We ate here the night of the big fireworks next store, good food and wine and kylee did a great job of serving us, this is always one of go to spots when we come to the finger lakes and we got to see the boats gather to see the fireworks, awesome spot!!! read more

I'm only giving this place a two because the price for the quality and flavor of the food is only a two. The first thing I got was the French onion soup. It was ok but was on the warm side like it was not microwaved enough? Next was the steak salad which was rather unimpressive. I could not taste much flavor from the dressing that came with it. I was not asked how I wanted my steak done. It seems like maybe they used some leftovers from their steak restaurant. Second time to this restaurant. First time was much more enjoyable. While the food was ok, the service was not. They only had one server for all of the tables so that service was slow as all of the tables were in use. We had arrived around 6 pm on a Sunday night, waited about 15 minutes for a table and didn't leave until almost 8 pm, with no dessert or lingering. The cheese plate was one of the items that drew us back from the previous visit however they appear to have changed this somewhat with different items. Was still good but not as good as before. We ordered two items to share, one was the lobster rolls and other their take on a Cuban sandwich. The twin lobster rolls were decent but the rolls were not fresh or toasted and the lobster was more like a seafood salad. Too much additives and not enough lobster. Guess we are spoiled by real Maine Lobster rolls that are just meat. The Hawaiian Cuban was a fail. While the sliced pork was very good, their version had Capicola (which didn't add anything), pineapple (core intact) and some type of mayo. Without the mustard zing, this is not anything related to a Cuban. We hardly ate any of this. Both items were served with a fried pickle which while unique, was not very good. Given this and the prices and wait, we will look for other options on our next visit. read more

We have previously been fans of Stonecutters. Not after tonight. Tonight we we had a group of 8 (2 tables of 4 due to COVID). I had ordered that Stonecutter's steak sandwich, which is my go to entree. As always I ordered without Mushrooms due to an allergy. The waitress acknowledge the allergy and confirmed when it was delivered. After taking a bite I notice there was not horseradish mayo, do I opened the sandwich and found it loaded with mushrooms. I called the manager over who had the meal replaced. I expected to have something (even a desert) comped one the bull, nothing was. They even added a 20% gratuity. I know that times are tough but there with COVID but you put our lives at risk and did nothing. Given this experience I will be bringing my dinning dollars elsewhere. read more

The service was great. Everyone was friendly upon entering. Our waitress, Corey, who was fairly new, did a really great job with keeping up all of our food and drink requests. She was friendly and provided great service. The food wasn't all that great. The buns on the burger didn't taste so fresh. The leaves in the salad were withered. One person I dined with returned her salad because the leaves were withered. I'm shocked they even served it that way. I was very please with the house merlot wine! Muy delicioso! Sadly my glowing experiences in the past with this majestic facility has been ruined due to a very surly waitress ... We had a party of ten and we asked to Join two tables so our guests could all enjoy our visit. The waitress, Ashley abruptly said that was not possible and I guess she decided we irritated her for asking. It became an escalating display of rudeness ... We had to wait to have drinks, we had to go to the bar for snacks ... Asked for condiments that were delayed, plates loudly placed before us and we attempted to Ignore this behavior of this young lady. It was embarrassing as we have had many positive experiences and love the ambiance... We had 8 guests that we wanted to experience Belhurst's charms. Of course ... The party of 6 paid the added on 20% and the 5.00 additional fee for the new let's be sure the customer pays the new hourly rate to a waitress who should not have been tipped... Then our crabby girl also charged 20% and 5.00 for the party of 4 ... Even though we were told NO to Have a party of 10 at one table. Still makes no sense at all. In this level of service... One would think the wait staff could attempt to smile and be considerate. We asked about the service fee and why the table of 4 were also charged 20%... Well that totally sent her over the top. The table of 4 said they just wanted to go ... So Belhurst ... I think you lost some potential customers. Sadly we had enjoyed weddings, wine tastings, spending nights in the beautiful rooms and appreciating a class establishment. Too bad this girl felt her bad day needed to be shared. read more

Had dinner here after a wine tour on Seneca Lake. I picked stonecutters because it was in the Belhurst Castle and I thought it would be really cool to tell people I had dinner in a castle. No big deal. Stonecutter's doesn't take reservations, but they let you put your name in and will come find you when your table is ready. There was a band playing in stonecutters, so the wait was pretty sufficient. While waiting, we checked out the Belhurst Castle winery and walked around the grounds. The castle is really beautiful and I'm sure they do a lot of weddings there. When we were finally seated, they put us in a outside table, which was fine because it was a surprisingly warm Saturday night. However, shortly after being seated the sun went down and we realized that we couldn't see anything. There was not even a candle on the table to give us light, so we had to use our phones to look at the menu. The manager came over and shined his phone on the menu for us too and all I could think was dude get us a freakin candle or something. The nice thing about this place is you can order from Edgar's menu as well, so we got a cheese plate from the Stonecutters' menu and a steak from Edgar along with a side of cheesy mashed potatoes. When we asked the waitress at Stonecutters what kind of cheese was included on the cheese plate she said she didn't know. Helpful. So we continued on our blind journey at Stonecutters. The cheese plate turned out to be cheddar and Muenster with some crackers and concord grapes. Pretty good. The steak was also cooked to perfection and we were satisfied. Never impressed with service or food here but the location and neat looking bar keep bringing us back hoping that one of these times it will be a nice experience. Disappointed once again! Bartender was rude and treated us like we were a bother to her. Finally she took our drink order after waiting for her to clean up and organize her back counter. Wasn't impressed with wine list so I opted for a Bloody Mary. It was old, thick and gross. She never asked me if I wanted anything else to drink after I finally choked it down. So I sat for awhile drinkless waiting for our food. We opted for an appetizer of poutine. Cold and had started to congeal and have a film over it. First off the onion rings were great. The bonus of a deep fried pickle was nice. I ordered the lobster roll envisioning the luscious rich lobster I had in Maine. Not even close. The lobster seemed to be cut very small and it would not surprise me to find that it was canned, the celery and peppers were rather large and fairly dominant in flavor. The bar did attempt a specialty drink that was not on the menu. It didn't quite meet my expectation but at least they gave it a shot. My server was fine, except that she forgot the water, quickly made right. Great view poor quality pricy food. Actually had the food been good the price would have been fair. read more

Food was excellent. Went to lunch with my daughter and even on a random Monday early afternoon it was cheerfully busy. The service was excellent and the wait for food minimal. My turkey with brie panini was yummy and the cranberry mayo a delicious surprise. Sandwich was good sized and plenty to eat. No need to upgrade to fries or onion rings as the chips are tasty and you get a fried pickle. My daughter had the strawberry spinach salad which was very large and clearly popular. The only negative is that it is rather pricey and with no drinks (just water) the total with tip was $34. Of course the setting is lovely and we would visit again in warmer weather to tour the grounds. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch with my partner; incredible views, friendly staff. Unfortunately the quality of both the food and the wine was poor. The calamari appetizer was soft and chewy, and came drizzled in two kinds of sauce; one a spicy red and the other unidentifiable. My biggest disappointment was the wine. I was inspired by the three-ring binder containing the wine list, but I wonder if the selection they carry is too vast and difficult for them to manage. My first glass was a Pino Noir from Oregon; it was either corked or seriously spoiled (this was the first time I've ever returned a glass of wine). The second glass was a dry red blend from California; the flavor was better but the wine was warm and it just didn't taste right. Finally, my partner ordered a glass of the house (Belhurst) Merlot. Frankly, it tasted like the bottle was opened earlier in the week and never sealed. Feedback: If you put the same attention in your restaurants that you do in the gift shop, you'd earn a Michelin Star. Also, top 40 music doesn't exactly blend well with the lake views, stone hearth and sixty dollar lunch. read more

Stonecutters - aaaah, if only one could eat ambiance! Or the view! The food, alas, is totally mediocre and overpriced. The falafel sandwich was perhaps the worst I have had in my life. The ball was room temperature and the inside uncooked -- raw and pasty. The "salad" was lifeless and the pita tasted like refrigerator. I upgraded to the French fries and got a WTF medley of random inchoate fried things that looked like recycled leftovers from prior diners' meals. Yuck. For an upgrade, stick with a Denny's for better quality food, at a lower price. read more

I absolutely love the atmosphere here and the wait staff is great but what is up with the people making the food? Four times I have gotten salads that came with avocado and four times the avocado had noticeable black spots on it, almost rotten. It is disgusting to get rotten anything in a place that charges upscale prices for their food. Each time I complain and send the avocado back and the server apologizes and shows it to the kitchen. I mean you can not miss a rotten avocado on the top of your salad!! I wonder what else is not quite what it should be as someone is going to become very ill after eating here. I will go there for a drink but any of the food just scares me. So sad! read more

The atmosphere is beautiful. We sat outside for the gorgeous view. The rest of the experience was downhill. The service was severely lacking. Our server was slow and inattentive. It took over an hour for our food to arrive without anyone coming to our table to let us know why it was taking so long or to see if we needed anything in the meantime. To make matters worse, the food was something you could get at any diner. Definitely not worth the wait. Will not be coming back, which is a shame because it really is a beautiful place. read more

Just had the penne pollo tonight with the signature raspberry lemonade and it was all so so good! First time I've been there even with living in the area for 22 years. Loved the venue and atmosphere. I had a salmon salad here today. The salmon tasted like it had been sitting out for days from a buffet bar. I almost could live with that (it was just a quick lunch; my expectations were low) but then after a few fishy bites.. ugh... the salad/lettuce looked pretty underneath but they dumped a load of tasteless creamy dressing on it- I should of asked for the dressing on the side but I didn't think they would dump so much on- and then they had some sort of green spinach pita which at first I thought was OK because I was desperate and hungry and the rest of the dish sucked so bad that I needed to like the last thing- but alas it too was god awful- how do you mess 3 basic things up? Maybe we just came on a bad day, but I thought that the food is was... WOW, horrible. I'm not an exceptionally well-traveled or picky eater, but I have eaten in a wide variety of restaurants in many U.S. cities and I feel like I can tell the good from the bad. This was bad. Some of the worst I've had, actually. It gets points for the location, and the dining room itself was very pleasant - fireplaces, comfy chairs, cool bar. We had some kind of seafood dip and cheese plate for appetizers, and I had a beef sandwich with blue cheese on it. I don't remember what my dining companions had. The seafood dip tasted like it had been sitting for hours and was extremely "fishy" smelling. We actually sent it back, which I NEVER do - I used to work in food service and try not to be one of "those people." The cheese plate was basically cheap cheddar and wheat crackers that I could have bought at a grocery store, and the sandwich was bland and overly salted. Basically everything tasted like it came from a box. You might like this place if you're not accustomed to eating good food or if you're British. Otherwise, I would recommend against. read more

I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. We were at Belhurst for a wedding and used Stonecutter's for after hour drinks. The woman bartender was the rudest person I've ever encountered in my entire life. At 12:00 when the bar closed we made harmless jokes about them closing early and the woman poured out our waters and told us to get the f out. Terrible customer service from the staff there. We stopped in for a quick bite to eat after doing a tasting at the Bellhurst. We had the Gouda App which was very good but needed to order additional chips. We ordered three burgers and chicken wrap. Two of the burgers came out way over cooked after waiting 30 minutes to get them. The waitress asked how the food was and we told her that they were way over cooked. She did ask if we wanted her to put them in again we declined as we were already there for 40 minutes. We finished and asked for our check she did say she was comping one burger and would split it. Even though both burgers were well over done and took forever. The check was messed up five times and took 25 minutes more. She did have a manger. One down to help but at no point did he ever come over to us. This was the worst experience ever. Having worked in the food and beverage industry they simply should have comped the meals. This is especially true after making us wait an additional 25 minutes for the check. We will never come back here. read more

The food here is average, but they serve fried pickles, which are probably one of the greatest things ever. The drink selection is quite good, and the atmosphere is stunning. You literally sit in a beautiful room looking out at beautiful property right on Seneca lake. This is physically a beautiful place. When it gets cold outside there is a fire pit that you can sit next too so you can stay warm, have a drink, and enjoy the view. Fried pickles, drinks, and gorgeous scenery = worth it! read more
