Texas Fajitas
Angelia T.

When we entered there was only 1 person here waiting for her to-go order. We were seated quickly, gave menus, chips and salsa were brought to the table, our drink order taken. The salsa was very good, flavorful but not hot. We ordered the Texas Fajitas with corn tortillas. It was very good! Beans and rice tasted homemade, which my husband never eats them but said they were good. Has to be the best Mexican, authentic, place up north we've had. Thank you for a wonderful meal!

We happened to drive by and needed to eat breakfast so we stopped and were greeted immediately. The food was SO tasty, we can't wait to try lunch and dinner!

So, after many visits I still like this place. The food is great and has always been fresh. I only have one question. Every time I order, the food is at my table with in two minutes. That kind of leads me to believe that it's mostly pre-made. It's still good though don't get me wrong. The salsa has always been a little lacking though. And today is no exception. I took one bite of salsa with a chip and it tastes and looks like cold tomato soup with a couple chopped pieces of jalapeños and onions. If they would up their game on the salsa, it would be a great hit. I love Mexican food and most importantly I love good flavorful salsa. The service is still excellent. It's a cute little restaurant. I still recommend it. I just wish the had better salsa.

Monterrey is definitely a 4/5 stars - the food is always delicious and the service is super friendly and so speedy. They are your standard small-town Mexican food restaurant but the flavor gets turned up to 11. The portions are normally too large to finish in one sitting but the prices are extremely reasonable. Check them out if you need good food quick!

Veggie plate

Stopped here for dinner on our way home from Watkins Glen when another restaurant was not opened yet. Service was great, the atmosphere was cute, the food was good. I just got a basic veggie combo with a cheese enchilada, cheese quesadilla, and bean burrito. My partner got a steamy plate with chorizo, chicken, and steak along with sides that he really liked. It was served sizzling. I think my favorite thing about the restaurant was the salsa.

This was a delightful surprise. A friend took me who has been a few times and assured me the food was good. I was starving, so I was happy to eat anywhere. I was leaning towards placing a to-go order but upon walking in, there was barely anyone inside and all tables were appropriately spaced so we felt comfortable to dine-in. Waitstaff was attentive and super sweet. There were so many food options I didn't really know where to even begin but the lunch specials seemed too good of a deal to pass up. I got the Quesadilla Rellena and WOW. We barely talked and just ate our food. Service was quick and the beans-- i usually despise beans and had forgotten to ask for no beans but I was GLAD to have them on my plate because my oh my! The only disappointment was the rice. And the house margarita?!?! Amazing!! I don't think you can be too upset after a meal here. Just maybe make sure you have some time for a nap afterwards.

This is a lunch portion. Was is so good I went here for dinner one night and lunch on our last day.

Of course, the Finger Lakes are KNOWN for wine so we're just thinking we're making reservations for a wine bar (with "speakeasy" vibes). Which that would've been totally cool with us. After continuous back and forth, changing our reservations 50 million times, adding and taking people out, we finally made it to Vinifera on a Friday night and were super apologetic since we had to make yet another change. The staff was absolutely incredible and accommodating, they made sure our party of 10 would be in the same room/table. The only "downfall" was that we'd have to share the room with another small party. Which was absolutely not a problem and we ended up being BFF'S with them by the end of the night. We met the owner Jim - the most incredible human - and he took us down to the speakeasy (which passes right through a super secretive door in the back of the main room upstairs). Side note - the main room upstairs is a vibe on it's own btw and we would've been absolutely fine and happy there. It's an actual wine store and you can purchase all kind of local wines. Be sure to ask and get all the recommendations you want. Not only did we get to enjoy an incredible time but we got a super cool VIP experience and learned the story and so much history about this place, the concept, the origin and what sparked the idea of creating it. That itself, was a treat. On to the actual speakeasy experience. When you go downstairs (through that fun super cool super secretive door) - you're instantly transported to another era, another time. It's dark, it's velvety, chandeliers, spiderwebs (the aesthetic kind, idk if there were actually any but it fit the vibe in my head), Leonardo Da Vinci, Mona Lisa, candles, curtains. There are two super cool rooms, one to the right (which is where our large party sat at) and one to the left - totally recommended for smaller groups, it's cozy, it's chill, you can interact and share with other guests too. Just by this, I'm wowed. As if this wasn't enough, the drinks were absolutely incredible. I ended up ordering some kind of a smoked drink and they happily substituted the regular old fashioned for mezcal. What a dream. Everyone was happy with their drink orders, some ordered some off the menu things and they happily made them - even though they technically only serve what's on the menu. Wine flights are also available if you're in the wine vibe. Bottom line: we loved this place SO much, we came back 2 night's later for our last night. We sat in the other room and absolutely loved and enjoyed it. I had a lavender drink and it was delish. This place is a GEM and you should absolutely check it out and support it if you're in the area. If you're not, well now you have a place I know you'll love to go to!

The burger was perfect. The crab cake was good, but not in my top 5 crab cakes I've ever eaten. The calamari was yummy. The service was impeccable. Would have tried a dessert, but the servings were so ample, there was no room. My husband got the tap and spirit duo and he liked the cider so much he got another cider. I liked that the noise level was not too loud. You can have a normal conversation. Ambiance is really wonderful. Glad we stopped in.

Let me get to the details: Service: staffs were not attentive, friendly, nor helpful. The restaurant was busy when we came so we decided to seat outside. However, their outdoor tables were wobbly. Also, there were no bugs control devices nor heating lamps to accommodate us. When we asked to move inside, their response was we have to talk to the host and the hostess told us it is not possible because they were "too busy".... Yet we would see an empty table where they rather seat 2 people that come after us instead of us. On top of all that, our sever never came to refill our water. For service, this place is a zero star for me. Food: we ordered their famous heavy plate. The food size was loaded for the price, everything tastes fine but nothing was exceptional. Giving them some stars for the decent food. Atmosphere: inside has lots of booth style seatings and bar seatings. They can accomplish large parties. Outdoor seating is not great as their tables were cheap and they're seating on a slope. There were no heat lamps or bug controls so I don't recommend eating outside in the evening here. Overall: honestly, we felt ignored at this restaurant. I wouldn't come back here since they're not very accommodating or nice. Highly recommend management to train their staffs better.
