Stopped in for dinner with my friends. Had about a 15 minute wait for a table of six on a Saturday night around 7pm. We sat at the bar while we waited and ordered a delicious pitcher of raspberry house margaritas. We were seated and brought fresh chips and salsa. Portion sizes are large! Disappointing experience - incorrect order and poor service. We ordered a takeout dinner consisting of a shrimp fajita and a chicken burrito, and were told it would take 40 minutes. My husband picked up the food exactly on time--we only live a 2-minute drive away--but by the time he brought it home, the food was already cold.Worse yet, as someone who does not eat meat, I was incredibly disappointed to find pieces of meat mixed directly into my shrimp fajitas. Because of this cross-contamination, I had to toss out most of the food. To top it off, the person who took our order over the phone wasn't polite. Between the cold food, the lack of attention to the order, and the poor service, we were highly disappointed. I would not recommend ordering takeout here. read more

Wow. The wifey and I stopped here for a quick bite. Started with the guacamole, it was a huge portion, good, not great, but everything got better from there. The La Grandeza margarita was excellent. I got the birria tacos and a tamale and they were both fantastic. The tamale was soft and full of chicken and smothered in a mole style sauce. It was delicious. The birrias were crispy and the beef was tender and the dipping sauce was great. Not proud of this but when the tacos were gone I drank what was left of that birria sauce like I was downing a shot. We came here on a Saturday night and there was plenty of seating and no wait time. They had kids meals which were a great option for the little ones. Server was very friendly and attentive. Food was hot and delicious. My husband and I both got burritos. They were huge! The salsa they brought out with chips was pretty good. Definitely kid friendly. The only thing I would suggest, if you get a margarita do not use their standard tequila. Ask if they have any other options. I was not impressed with the flavor. Another note, When they brought over the kids high chair they wiped it down in front of us! No one does that! read more

Recently visited with a larger group of friends. There were 8 of us. We were seated within 15 minutes and the bar tender was quick to serve margaritas. The food was absolutely delicious. Although it was Saturday night at 8pm, the restaurant had a good amount of people in it but not overly busy. The waitress was very slow in serving. Not sure if she was overwhelmed with other tables but my advice is to be prepared for slow service. The food is worth the wait! read more

Was really hoping to give this restaurant a better review, but it just wasn't "my cup of tea". Staff were not the friendliest of people, or quickest when picking up a meal. Refried beans lacked flavor and the birria tacos were mushy and different. Location is convenient and plenty of free and convenient parking. Food was okay. Not the best Mexican I've had and definitely not the worst. I like that there are a few different vegetarian options and that they had a kid's menu. The service was also okay...our waiter was attentive enough. In terms of ambiance, it was also fine. There was a guy on his phone on speaker the whole time he was eating, which was super annoying, but definitely not the restaurant's fault. Since this opened up in Macedon, I have been coming monthly for the perfect Birria tacos. You get free chips and salsa with every order. The salsa is flavorful and delicious. Birria tacos are always consistently good and those who has accompanied me (I've brought 6 people here so far) have enjoyed their food. Wow! This is an excellent option for good Mexican food! The owner- Omar- was so gracious and welcoming when we arrived. Went there for Cinco de Mayo. Wait time was reasonable for it being a holiday. Took quite some time to get drinks and our order taken. We ordered an appetizer to share. Appetizer came relatively fast, but we got no plates to be able to share. Our server rarely checked in with us after our meal came. Food was mediocre not terrible not great. Foods pretty good! We've been a few times and they have a pretty big menu. They serve their beans in a little tortilla shell. When we were there, the bartender was very rude to us. We went in 1.5 hours before their sign said they were closing, when we walked in there was only one other party and we asked her if they were planning on closing early. She said no and was very short and rude with us our entire time. We ate quickly and left. In the past our server was super sweet, so I think that was just a bad experience. Also, sticker was on my tomato that was in my salsa. Not very appetizing. read more

My girlfriend and I visited here last night for a late dinner after she drove in from Indiana. The service was quick and the food delicious. We both liked the salsa serving bottle they use so each person may have their own salsa dish prior to the meal's arrival, allowing them to double-dip tortilla chips without risking contamination or social ostracism. Our waitress - sorry, I cannot recall her name - was nice and affable even at the end of a late Monday shift. Great humor and very welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and I nearly laughed aloud when our server asked if we'd like dessert; I don't think either of us could have fit another bite. My girlfriend took some of her food to go and it reheated nicely for lunch today as she worked on writing her dissertation. Highly recommend and plan to visit again! read more

The steak fajitas were overcooked and bland. We went there at lunch and was charged for dinner. When I asked about it the server argued about it and kept repeating that it was my mistake. Lunch pricing goes until 3pm and we arrived at 2:15pm. When the bill was rung up it was 3:02. The manager intervened and changed the pricing. The visit to Mecate was a change of plans visit. I went with a friend when the restaurant we planned on going to was unexpectedly not open. The restaurant was clean, and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The server was sweet. Our meals came out quickly. I can't say that it is always fast,we were there at about 4:30. I do recommend giving it a try. I didn't get any photos,I wish I had. The food was plated nicely on a lovely plate. We only got water, so I can't attest to any of the alcoholic drinks. I would not recommend Mecate Mexican Restaurant. The service is slow. The guacamole appears dull and flavorless. Chips stale so clearly not fresh. The salsa tastes like canned tomato sauce. Wait time is horrendous. Over an hour for the food. I would love to rate the rest of the food but after and hour I have yet to receive it. Gave it a 2 star just for the amount of tequila in the margarita. *update food came and still nope. Decreased the star rating to a 1 for the cold inedible food! read more
