This place is beautiful but quite pretentious. Sorry for the long review and petty comments but this was a rather unique experience for me. We arrived at about 4:45 on a Sunday night without a reservation. There was a group of four without a reservation in front of us and another couple. The hostess spent what seemed like five minutes talking with this group, who I think she was trying to turn away, before she finally seated them - it felt very awkward. We were given a reservation for 5:30 though there were maybe a third of the tables occupied. No smiles from either of the the front of house staff, that I saw. We got a drink at the bar - bartender was nice, cocktail was sweeter than I wanted, despite inquiring, but this is probably on me. We were seated at 5:30 and maybe two thirds of the tables were full? There were a ton of staff - I counted at least 15 and they really seemed to be on top of each other. It's great they employ so many people, but it made me wonder why getting seated was a problem for that group of 4 and for us. I ordered the tuna tartare and Parker house rolls and my husband got a smash burger. I swear the food came out within five minutes, before our wine arrived. This leads me to believe the kitchen was not over taxed, it is an open kitchen and there were many people working in there too. The food was fine - rolls were yummy, tartare was a little warmer than I would prefer and lacked much flavor, but it came in a giant bowl that really dominated the table. Meanwhile the smash burger came on a tiny plate. I guess the bottom line is that the vibe just feels off and the food is nothing special, especially at the price point of almost $100 for 2 drinks, rolls, an app and a burger.

Enjoyed a lovely martini on a cozy room by a fireplace. The bartender was detail-oriented and was very dedicated to making sure my drink was to my liking-- how much vermouth, particular brand of vermouth, how would I care for my lime garnish, etc. Nice! The room was intimate and comfortable..

Beautiful restaurant. Good was delicious and portions were large. They were doing a steak week special and thought that was clever. Wouk definitely return

I didn't go to a ton of restaurants during our Finger Lakes excursion, but this was one of the better ones. My cousin chums and I stopped by here for dinner this past Saturday right when it opened at 5pm (my kind of dinner time). Despite getting there so early there was a short wait/line in front of us, along with some bar patrons who'd clearly been on the premises for a while waiting for the kitchen to open again. Regardless, we were able to easily secure seating in a room with lake views - not their "main" seating area, but almost an atrium-like section; I'm sure it has a very sophisticated name that is beyond me. Anyway. Predictably a lot of nautical, Vineyard Vines vibes throughout, and all of the rooms we ended up in were super spacious, with high barn rafter style ceilings. My palate wasn't feeling too boozy so I just opted for a refreshing nip. I don't see it on the online menu, but it was basically a rose spritz. Perfectly fine and did the job. One of my cousins got a little rambunctious and decided to go with a S'mores Old Fashioned which I tried - definitely too sweet for my palate, but she was quite pleased with it. I tend to like the smokier variations of this drink if you're going to get a little crazy. I'd accidentally grabbed a few burgers on the way up here so I wasn't quite as hungry as I wanted to be - otherwise I very likely would have hit up some of the scrumptious meats I saw being prepped in the open kitchen (the steaks looked pretty legit). Instead I just got the burrata app with I believe a peach puree of sorts. Definitely tasty with a great presentation (everything that showed up on the table looked spiffy and magazine spread ready), and I enjoyed the accompanying bread. This is more of a personal palate issue, but I tend to double-down on the savory when it comes to burrata, rather than dancing around with balsamic reduction and other sweet shizzle, but that's on me. Again, I did not put myself in a position to succeed earlier in the day. The service was pretty good. Our waitress was very nice and offered some personal opinions about the menu (which I always like). She was a little less attentive in the second half of the meal as the place got more crowded, but nothing egregious in that regard. Would come back, but I'd want to get a little more aggressive with both the dinner and cocktail menus - I feel like I didn't totally tap into the biggest selling points for this establishment.

Once again, the Rose Tavern provided a delicious meal with great service. We chose the filet and sea bass from the prix fixe Valentines Day menu. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the fish flakey and tasty. Risotto with duck confit was both our choice for appetizers. The house desert was just ok, but by that time we were thoroughly pleased with the meal. A special occasion destination.

Friday night dinner here which was about 25 minutes from our hotel. Located at the head of the Canandaigua Lake, this place is in the lake house resort which was very nice. We had a reservation for 8:30 and checked in right then. Open kitchen, white shiplap and bright colors. They have an outdoor windowed deck area which is where we sat. For starters we ordered the bread, the burrata with peach jam, and the sticky pork belly. The burrata was good - really liked the peach Jam as an addition that went on the focaccia it was served with. The pork belly was easily the best appetizer we had all weekend. Crispy and chewy and flavorful. Wow. So good. For my meal I went with the ribeye and added carrots and brussel sprouts. The vegetables were great - the sprouts had a sweet and tangy glaze on them. But the steak was about 45% fat and gristle. I know a ribeye isn't a lean cut, but it was over the top with how much chewy parts I had to cut around. For dessert I force-ordered the lemon tart which came with blueberries compote around it. Meh. It was ok. Really lacked flavor and sweet. Our waitress - glasses, shorter, and very friendly - sorry I'm not good with names was great. Played back at us and was really conversational. Would recommend here.

Stopped in for some dessert and to check out the hotel. Beautiful property and good service. We tried all three desserts. The pumpkin tiramisu was my favorite and I liked the different textural components. Never had a pumpkin tiramisu so I really enjoyed it. The budino was also good and came with a snickerdoodle cookie on the side. The chocolate cake had the prettiest presentation, but was overall everyone's least favorite. The chocolate was really rich so it was difficult to eat a lot of it although it was tasty. The blackberry sauce on the side was great and wanted more of it. The tuille on top wasn't my favorite thing. Overall really enjoyed the service and the vibes.

Second time dining at Rose Tavern but this was my 1st brunch experience there. The food and drinks were great. I had the crab Benedict and the cinnamon roll- both delicious. My friend has the salmon avocado toast and the lemon tart- she loved it! Mimosas and espresso martini on point. Our server was nice and friendly with nice recommendations. And the ambiance great. We sat by the window with a wonderful view of the lake. Will definitely be back!

    Perfect Brunch w/Mimosa's!!

Yummy Mimosa's, and our Breakfast Grilled Cheese BLT was Fantastic! The view of Lake Canandaigua from our table was amazing, and Michael took very good care of us!

Upon arrival, we were told there were no lounge tables available, no explanation. We then asked for a booth and were given the last available "half booth" ( so what is the point of making a reservation?). We did not complain. There are several items on the menu with no price stated, and it is awkward to have to ask, but we did ask some prices as you kind of like to know what you're paying! Duh. Hubby got filet mignon $65 and it was good, but only the size of a tennis ball at most. I got scallops $45 for only 4 of them.Medium sized . Really? In Canandaigua?? The garlic mashed were good, but warm, not hot. Server did not appear again soon enough to let her know. Also, I could have sworn she told us that soup or salad was included with our meals, but when the bill came there was a charge for each. Again it is awkward to have to quibble about an issue like that; we just paid the bill as it was . It should be clearly stated on the menu what is included! All in all, a disappointing experience that cost $175 plus tip. We aren't planning to go back.

Not surprised as it was a Wednesday but the last few times we were there, the food went downhill since Nick moved away. They lost several great bartenders too. Of course, the Finger Lakes are KNOWN for wine so we're just thinking we're making reservations for a wine bar (with "speakeasy" vibes). Which that would've been totally cool with us. After continuous back and forth, changing our reservations 50 million times, adding and taking people out, we finally made it to Vinifera on a Friday night and were super apologetic since we had to make yet another change. The staff was absolutely incredible and accommodating, they made sure our party of 10 would be in the same room/table. The only "downfall" was that we'd have to share the room with another small party. Which was absolutely not a problem and we ended up being BFF'S with them by the end of the night. We met the owner Jim - the most incredible human - and he took us down to the speakeasy (which passes right through a super secretive door in the back of the main room upstairs). Side note - the main room upstairs is a vibe on it's own btw and we would've been absolutely fine and happy there. It's an actual wine store and you can purchase all kind of local wines. Be sure to ask and get all the recommendations you want. Not only did we get to enjoy an incredible time but we got a super cool VIP experience and learned the story and so much history about this place, the concept, the origin and what sparked the idea of creating it. That itself, was a treat. On to the actual speakeasy experience. When you go downstairs (through that fun super cool super secretive door) - you're instantly transported to another era, another time. It's dark, it's velvety, chandeliers, spiderwebs (the aesthetic kind, idk if there were actually any but it fit the vibe in my head), Leonardo Da Vinci, Mona Lisa, candles, curtains. There are two super cool rooms, one to the right (which is where our large party sat at) and one to the left - totally recommended for smaller groups, it's cozy, it's chill, you can interact and share with other guests too. Just by this, I'm wowed. As if this wasn't enough, the drinks were absolutely incredible. I ended up ordering some kind of a smoked drink and they happily substituted the regular old fashioned for mezcal. What a dream. Everyone was happy with their drink orders, some ordered some off the menu things and they happily made them - even though they technically only serve what's on the menu. Wine flights are also available if you're in the wine vibe. Bottom line: we loved this place SO much, we came back 2 night's later for our last night. We sat in the other room and absolutely loved and enjoyed it. I had a lavender drink and it was delish. This place is a GEM and you should absolutely check it out and support it if you're in the area. If you're not, well now you have a place I know you'll love to go to!
