29 Neat is our favorite cocktail/bourbon bar period! This was the second year in a row we were fortunate to have our trip to the finger lakes fall on their opening weekend! 29 Neat is the type of bourbon/Cocktail bar where anyone can stop in, feel welcomed and relax. There is good music playing and the bartenders are amazing. Very friendly, good humored, and very knowledgeable not only about the drinks/booze, but about the surrounding area. The menu is a leather bound book containing pages of bourbons from hard to find to every day favorites. In addition to the bourbons they also have a nice selection of Tequila, vodka, scotch and wines. They also have an amazing craft cocktail list. Every drink we've sampled from the list has been amazing and reflects positively on the talent of the bartenders. These are truly craft cocktails that are perfectly balanced and flavorful. If you are looking for a place to relax and have amazing drinks, 29 Neat is the best place around. read more

This place was highly recommended at a different stop along our way around the lake on Saturday. I am not a coffee drinker but was told they make the best espresso martinis. I have to say I was not disappointed and would order one again! My husband had a mule which was on point, as well. The place has a very cool vibe. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Very nice bar! Our server was super friendly and even showed us how he made some of our favorite cocktails since it was a slower night. Not much offered for food as far as dinner but they do have small bites /cheese and meat. The Seneca cheese company is located inside. Definitely a great stop in Watkins glen read more

I visited this place when I was in Watkins Glenn for a weekend trip. We stopped in for a snack and a drink. The ordering process was a bit confusing, unless you were at the bar, then of course they served you. But outside or at the other tables you had to walk up to the bar and order yourself. We ordered a beer and the soft pretzels. Overall it was an average experience. We tried to ask the bartender about local beers and she wasn't sure. It would have been nice to have something that was specific to the area. This place is nice to stop in if you're by the area just for a relaxing drink or snack, just be prepared about the ordering process. read more

Great place to have some drinks -- the drink menu is very expansive. If you like Bourbon, this is your spot! Food menu is very small and has everything "cheesy." Food was good, but $18 for tomato soup and grilled cheese seemed a bit high to me. We visited on a Friday night -- someone brought us menus but we were told we had to place our order at the bar. It's a cute little place with seating and an outdoor patio upstairs. Parking is off street in a dirt lot right next to the restaurant. read more

I'll be generous and go with 4 stars but really like 3.5. We stopped here for dinner after reviewing their menu on line. I feel like there was a difference between the menu online and what was available in the establishment because there really was not much here for dinner. It's more like apps and cheese plates. We opted to each do a bowl of tomato bisque which was excellent and a cheese plate. The cheese plate was nicely presented but I wasn't really wowed by any of the cheeses. The wine flight of local reds was also similarly underwhelming. Lots of outdoor seating which was nice but there the music was kind of loud and clashed a bit with notion of enjoying wine and cheeses IMO. Service was fine and prices were fairly reasonable but I was hoping for more from this place in terms of food and wine. Not sure I'd return here. read more

We had a party of 7 and came here for a late lunch. It was pretty empty, just 2 other parties sitting at the bar. They also have a nice balcony area if you want to sit outside and see the lake. Everything was delicious here, we shared the ultimate cheese board and added charcuterie which was delicious. I also got the soft pretzel served with craft ale cheese and brew pub mustard which was so yummy. My friends also tried the tomato bisque & cheese toastie combo, the white cheddar mac and cheese, and the cheesecake. Everyone was scraping off the last bits and no crumbs were left behind! We also tried the Michael's Mule and Mudslide cocktails both of which were really good. Come Again? Yes! If I'm ever visiting the Finger Lakes again I'd be sure to stop by! Where is the cheese? With cheese in the name we thought that would be the primary focus. However cheese very much seemed like an afterthought. There were fewer cheese options at the Seneca Cheese Company than up the road at a local winery. The limited options were over priced too. The exact same product we saw up the road was $4 more at the "cheese company." After a day of wineries we wanted to wrap it up with cheese options to take home, and were horribly disappointed. Instead we just found a big bar and pages of drink options. If you are looking for lots of good cheese, I would skip this stop. read more

The macaroni and cheese here is INCREDIBLE! We stopped here after visiting Watkin's Glen for some like food and drinks. You will not go wrong with the Mac and cheese, the pizza was alright. I had a pomegranate martini which I loved. We also purchased some Buffalo cheese curds and salami to take with us. Both of those turned out to be tasty too. The owner was very friendly, he gave us several recommendations for the area while we were visiting for a long weekend. I would come back here! read more

Wow! If you come to Watkins Glen and miss this place, what a loss! We had the cheesy garlic bread (OMG amazing!), the Bavarian pretzel and the cheese board. All were totally delicious and generous portions. The shop has a nice deli where you can purchase various cheeses to go and they serve wine and beer flights. The place is sparking clean, super important in Covid times and there is plenty of outdoor seating. Service is prompt and friendly. We are lucky and staying at the Airbnb above the shop-hard to imagine eating anywhere else while we are here. Great wine list and plenty of yummy sounding brews....hoping you enjoy this place as much as we do! read more

Being local to the region and out of the busy busy tourist season, my wife and I enjoy traveling the Finger Lakes, taking in the unobstructed views, small towns and various eateries, wineries and events. We were passing through Watkins Glen and decided to stop at the Seneca Cheese Company. We each had a drink and sampled the cheese(s), soup and mac and cheese. Enjoyed the visit very much. We were in Watkins Glen, looking for a restaurant for dinner on a Friday night. This place looked like a nice hang, so we checked it out. This place was AWESOME!! Even though the menu isn't extensive, the items we had were delicious. We got the cheese and charcuterie tray and the tomato bisque and grilled cheese combo. There were many cheeses to choose from - all amazing - and the tomato bisque was second to none. The grilled cheese was nice and toasty, and a perfect compliment for the soup. Came here for some beer & warm pretzels. Yummy I had a pumpkin beer & my husband had the Octoberfest beer. Accompanied by warm pretzels with mustard & cheese sauces. This place is relatively new to the area. It is beautifully decorated & very clean. I loved the bathroom as well! Terrible customer service. We ordered a cheese board and waited over 45 minutes. We went to the bar tender to check in, he didn't apologize at all, just stated we are short staff. I asked about how much longer and stated, no idea. About 2-3 people that came in after us got food. I had to ask for a refund. Will not be going back anytime soon. read more

We stopped by the Seneca Cheese company as we wandered around Watkins Gem on a sunny fall day this weekend. We chose it because there was outdoor seating and plenty of space between tables. Of course, everything on the menu was about cheese! We ordered the tomato bisque with cheese and the pretzel! They were both delish. The pretzel had a nice crust and was nice and hot! We got the cheeseboard for ~$20. It was enough to split with 2 or a few people. There were grapes, apple cranberries, figs, strawberry, and more fruit. There were also 5 different types of cheeses and crackers too. The staff was nice and the place had a lot of seating downstairs and upstairs. If it's nice outside you can sure on the balcony upstairs. Nice cheese place in the area. read more

The mashed potatoes tasted homemade, creamy and seasoned nicely seasoned.....but the actual amount of chicken and biscuits was pretty small. (We didn't know it came with potatoes because we it wasn't on the menu so we didn't get a description) I am looking forward to many more visits and trying some of their signature house brined chicken. We also had a very nice discussion with the bartender about their extensive selection of liquor.

In customer service it means those are your established hours and you serve your menu until that time unless similar to a restaurant if you post your tastings or kitchen close before actual closing time. The food truck for heaven's sake was serving full menu until after 5. We were there for a tasting and planned to go across the street to Luck Hare for dinner. Disappointed in this business. Even if it was grand opening weekend- the weather was beautiful and there was a lot of activity in the area. The business should have planned accordingly to serve until their posted hours vs turning people away (we were not drinking wine that day but I guess appreciate the offer). Overall disappointing experience as I believe the concept is good. However lucky hare didn't disappoint. I had one of their beers, sliders, and fries and it didn't disappoint. Recommend stopping at lucky hare just across the way.

My older son had ordered the s'mores waffles and it looked good when it was delivered but as I cut some of it for me to try later on, I soon realized the batter was uncooked in the middle of most of them. I was thoroughly disappointed he had eaten some of it before I discovered it was uncooked. The server throughly apologized and they remade the order which in the end, we ended up taking home with us. They also didn't take the order off the check for us which normally that would happen. For such a classy restaurant, we would think they would know how to make waffles and for more top-notch service. I think next time we will just enjoy the nice views and choose to eat somewhere else when we are in the area.
