29 Neat is our favorite cocktail/bourbon bar period!  This was the second year in a row we were fortunate to have our trip to the finger lakes fall on their opening weekend!  29 Neat is the type of bourbon/Cocktail bar where anyone can stop in, feel welcomed and relax. There is good music playing and the bartenders are amazing. Very friendly, good humored, and very knowledgeable not only about the drinks/booze, but about the surrounding area.  The menu is a leather bound book containing pages of bourbons from hard to find to every day favorites. In addition to the bourbons they also have a nice selection of Tequila, vodka, scotch and wines.  They also have an amazing craft cocktail list. Every drink we've sampled from the list has been amazing and reflects positively on the talent of the bartenders.  These are truly craft cocktails that are perfectly balanced and flavorful.  If you are looking for a place to relax and have amazing drinks, 29 Neat is the best place around. read more

Best service in town. Beautiful building with indoor, outdoor, and rooftop seating. Very professional and well-done establishment. Bartenders are knowledgeable and not grumpy. The place has an extensive menu and even beer on tap. We did not order food because we had just eaten a large dinner. They have a wide variety of bourbons at different price ranges and their menu cocktails are reasonably priced. Go there now if you want a great experience in Watkins Glen. read more

I visited this place when I was in Watkins Glenn for a weekend trip. We stopped in for a snack and a drink. The ordering process was a bit confusing, unless you were at the bar, then of course they served you. But outside or at the other tables you had to walk up to the bar and order yourself. We ordered a beer and the soft pretzels. Overall it was an average experience. We tried to ask the bartender about local beers and she wasn't sure. It would have been nice to have something that was specific to the area. This place is nice to stop in if you're by the area just for a relaxing drink or snack, just be prepared about the ordering process. read more

Great place to have some drinks -- the drink menu is very expansive. If you like Bourbon, this is your spot! Food menu is very small and has everything "cheesy." Food was good, but $18 for tomato soup and grilled cheese seemed a bit high to me. We visited on a Friday night -- someone brought us menus but we were told we had to place our order at the bar. It's a cute little place with seating and an outdoor patio upstairs. Parking is off street in a dirt lot right next to the restaurant. read more

I'll be generous and go with 4 stars but really like 3.5. We stopped here for dinner after reviewing their menu on line. I feel like there was a difference between the menu online and what was available in the establishment because there really was not much here for dinner. It's more like apps and cheese plates. We opted to each do a bowl of tomato bisque which was excellent and a cheese plate. The cheese plate was nicely presented but I wasn't really wowed by any of the cheeses. The wine flight of local reds was also similarly underwhelming. Lots of outdoor seating which was nice but there the music was kind of loud and clashed a bit with notion of enjoying wine and cheeses IMO. Service was fine and prices were fairly reasonable but I was hoping for more from this place in terms of food and wine. Not sure I'd return here. read more

We had a party of 7 and came here for a late lunch. It was pretty empty, just 2 other parties sitting at the bar. They also have a nice balcony area if you want to sit outside and see the lake. Everything was delicious here, we shared the ultimate cheese board and added charcuterie which was delicious. I also got the soft pretzel served with craft ale cheese and brew pub mustard which was so yummy. My friends also tried the tomato bisque & cheese toastie combo, the white cheddar mac and cheese, and the cheesecake. Everyone was scraping off the last bits and no crumbs were left behind! We also tried the Michael's Mule and Mudslide cocktails both of which were really good. Come Again? Yes! If I'm ever visiting the Finger Lakes again I'd be sure to stop by! The macaroni and cheese here is INCREDIBLE! We stopped here after visiting Watkin's Glen for some like food and drinks. You will not go wrong with the Mac and cheese, the pizza was alright. Where is the cheese? With cheese in the name we thought that would be the primary focus. However cheese very much seemed like an afterthought. There were fewer cheese options at the Seneca Cheese Company than up the road at a local winery. The limited options were over priced too. The exact same product we saw up the road was $4 more at the "cheese company." After a day of wineries we wanted to wrap it up with cheese options to take home, and were horribly disappointed. Wow! If you come to Watkins Glen and miss this place, what a loss! We had the cheesy garlic bread (OMG amazing!), the Bavarian pretzel and the cheese board. All were totally delicious and generous portions. The shop has a nice deli where you can purchase various cheeses to go and they serve wine and beer flights. The place is sparking clean, super important in Covid times and there is plenty of outdoor seating. Service is prompt and friendly. We are lucky and staying at the Airbnb above the shop-hard to imagine eating anywhere else while we are here.
