For our meals, Schweety had the burger with a side salad and i had the Crispy Chicken entree. He really liked his! The salad portion of my meal was excellent, I would have preferred the chicken to be a little less crispy as it took away from the flavor of the chicken. Booked two bar seats in advance (they have no walk up bar seating), which we enjoyed as they have a cool looking bar and friendly bartenders! They have a fun cocktail menu and a nice selection of wines (we opted for non-local this time to change things up). We started with zucchini in tomato sauce which was DELICIOUS and then had a pasta special and the pork belly rice bowl for dinner. The portions were very generous (we took home leftovers) so we unfortunately did not save room for dessert! We came in without a reservation, but it was early (5:30) so they offered us bar seating, communal seating at a long table or a high top at the bar. We sat at the communal table. No one else sat at the communal talk with us. We enjoyed being able to see into the kitchen at this table. We ordered the calamari, a burger and a crab cake sandwich. Delicious! The burger was perfect. The crab cake was good, but not in my top 5 crab cakes I've ever eaten. The calamari was yummy. The service was impeccable. Would have tried a dessert, but the servings were so ample, there was no room. My husband got the tap and spirit duo and he liked the cider so much he got another cider. The food was amazing. - poutine 10/10: flavorful, mouth-watering, and they used cheese curds from local farm shtayburn. - pan seared scallops 8/10: scallops and wild rice were perfectly cooked. However, addition of the plum sauce is excessive and I think the sauce is too strong and sweet to pair with the dish. I've been to Geneva 5-6 times and yet only stopped by here by pure chance. Stayed at a nearby Holiday Inn, and there was a poster ad for this place in the elevator. Walked 2-3 minutes from said hotel to the front door of this place, and am so grateful for giving it a shot. This place is what I'd like to see at basically all other restaurants - in terms of staff, quality of the food, cooking times, ambience, and probably more besides. We'd planned on exploring additional acclaimed restaurants around Geneva / upper Seneca lake on our trip, but this spot was so good we had to come back to try out the rest of the menu. Our server was Lauren, and she's probably one of the best servers I've ever had. Really nice, super speedy, great recommendations on the menu and also has a sixth sense for when you're ready for more food / to pay the bill / anything that comes to mind. Sunday night dinner, our final while in the FLX area. Located in a shopping strip mall type complex, we had a reservation for 8:15 in the hopes of some post-meal shenanigans. Dark theme, open kitchen, barn wood accents and Edison bulb decor type place. Colleen? Maureen? Was our waitress and was very nice. We ordered the Mac and cheese as an appetizer to start. Served in a cast iron pan this was very good with bread crumbs on top. Served with a nice cheese sauce and cheese on top - easily a must-try item if you stop here. I kicked around ideas for my meal and played it safe with the flank steak. Served with rosemary fries and several sauces, I ordered it medium. I really loved this steak - cooked a little under medium but still temp was good and the flavors were incredible. Best steak in FLX that I tried. Only drawback was the dessert menu. You have to have CHOCOLATE cake, cheesecake, sorbet or ice cream and some other fruit type item. We ended up at the ice cream stand around the way. We were able to get a last minute reservation while visiting here recently. It was recommended by a woman at a winery. Relaxed and cozy inside with fresh and healthy ingredients for a delicious meal, it was the perfect way to end an evening. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower wings, the Brussels sprouts and I had the field green salad. The cauliflower wings were the best part of the meal. They were crispy, not too spicy, flavorful and gluten free. The Brussels sprouts were ok but much better reheated the next day. I honestly think they just didn't compare to the cauliflower. The salad was good, as interesting as a salad can be. I enjoyed the crunch of the quinoa and the vinaigrette was very good. There was a nice wine list to choose from to round out the meal. The star of the show was the Peach & Goat Cheese flatbread, this was probably the best savory fruit topped pizza I have ever tried. The warm peach gave a sweet balance to the spicy sauce, savory cheese and chewy crust. The house fries were perfectly seasoned and the house-made ketchup and sauce were great to dip in. The cherry on top of this meal was the rich chocolatey coconut tart that reminded me of a delicious fudge. Super delicious, fresh and homemade pasta and food - it's a "scratch kitchen" so everything is made there! Got the chicken and veggie pasta (replacing the chicken w salmon). Salmon was perfectly crisp. Pasta homemade spaghetti. With buratta, broccoli, snap peas, edamame and pesto. It was SO good! Also got a non alcoholic drink, Shavasana (verjus - Green juice, turmeric, coconut and basil) which was refreshing and invigorating - like a health shot. Our group of 8 came here to celebrate our combined bachelor/ette and we had the most amazing time! We had calamari and Mac and cheese to start which were both good. I personally like my Mac and cheese baked with a slightly firmer texture but this one was still good. The calamari was crispy and seasoned well. The star of the show was my salmon. It was perfectly crispy and seasoned so well. It came with a sauce that I can't remember what it had in it but it was sweet and not overpowering. The roasted cauliflower was great along with the potatoes. I was thinking of that meal days later. DO...get the amazeballs poutine. They should put the gravy in a to-go cup with a straw, it's that damn good. DO...come with an appetite. You will leave full and sassified! Mostly a young clientele on a Sunday evening, matching the energetic servers. Service was a bit slow, we all entered at opening time, several couples and small groups, and ours was the last table to receive our food , but when it arrived it looked, smelled and tasted fantastic. My flank steak(generally a bit tough,as a cut) was cooked perfectly med-rare, and the accompanying house fries were crisp and lightly seasoned. I had my first visit to Kindred Fare in October 2023. I was grateful for the opportunity to visit again. I won an instagram event giveaway last minute and was able to participate in a special community event. How lucky! The event was a ladies night out wellness event. It was a great evening hosted by two local women who have health and wellness related businesses in the area. It was great to engage in discussion on the topic and learn from each other. The menu was unbelievable. Everything we ate was so fresh (the items were sustainably made with local ingredients) We also learned about the why behind the ingredients used in how they related to digestive health. The stand out item for me was the soup and main entree. I've never had trout before and was amazed by the flavor. It reminded me of salmon. It paired very well with the ginger carrot purée and broccoli. The way it was prepared made it so tender. It just melted in your mouth. I also enjoyed the flavor combination of the seafood bisque with locally made sourdough bread. We had our own private room which made the event feel intimate and private. My favorite restaurant in Geneva. Restaurant is modern, bright and pleasing to dine in. Seating is spaced out. In spring and autumn, the patio would be a lovely dining space. Service is fast, prompt and friendly. We went twice during our trip. First night was Friendship fries, pork belly with jasmine rice and curried tofu and vegetable pasta. Fries were earthy but also refreshing and I loved the pickled onions, little bits of fried garlic, feta and the spicy Chipotle Mayo. The pork belly is a very heavy option and also has the spicy Mayo. I wouldn't recommend eating them back to back. The curried vegetables pasta was comforting and tasted like a refined dhal. My favorite was the pasta. We came back on Monday again and this time, we opted for the prix fixe. Appetizers were seared scallops, spaghetti squash gratin (with lion's mane mushroom). Entrees were eggplant naploneta (with a whole ball of burrata and bolognese gnocchi. Desserts were peach pie and raspberry creme brulee. Favorites were the scallops, gnocchi and crème brulee. Their portion sizes are very generous and we always have to pack the food up. A very good rendition of a farm to table restaurant with lovely service and a great ambiance. The food is focused on local farm to table fare with an emphasis on creativity in each dish. The flavors were outstanding! We started with the friendship fries: fresh cuts fries topped with feta, pickled onions, scallions, dill dressing and spicy aioli. Deliciousness in every bite. For entrees, I had the halibut from the daily specials menu. It was perfectly seared atop a bed of Napa cabbage, local flx corn and mushrooms, with a roasted garlic schmear that was music to my mouth! The hubs opted for the chicken and veggie pasta- a medley of house made pasta with fresh vegetables, chx and burratta cheese. Delicious and hit the mark. Also ordered a side of fresh baked focaccia, which was on par with the rest of the meal. We sat at the bar counter and the bartenders were awesome. They were patient with my persnickety wine tastes ;) and provided outstanding service. Watching them make craft cocktails in sync with each other and without saying a word was an art form. Well, thanks to the recommendation from Tim A from the Ron DeSantis state of fine cuisine, Kindred Fare must have stepped up their game because we were simply delighted with every aspect of our mid April visit. From the warm welcome, to the "Briney Bunch Snacktini" of fried buttermilk pickles & a superbly made dirty gin martini with 3 plump olives by Raleigh, to 6 fabulous entrees served by the jovial, Hospitality Manager Jude, we all agreed that this was a fabulous choice for any occasion. 2 enjoyed the Pear & Lively Run Sheldrake Moon grilled flatbread while 2 others devoured their grass-fed Grilled Flank Steak with black garlic butter & house steak sauce, with rosemary fries & a garlic aioli. Lee said that his Field Green Salad with an added Jumbo Lump Crab Cake was excellent. I think that I had the wining dish..from the specials menu, filets of Rainbow Trout on sweet potato gnocchi with a (maybe garlic) cauliflower puree...absolutely fabulous, perfectly seasoned with crisp skin that was commendable. Drinks were perfect, we had many. If we were staying in the hotel behind, I would have had yet a 3rd. I have been wanting to come here since it opened and I'll be back for the Prix Fixe Monday Menu. In all of my days I have never seen a bunch of people on Saturday rushing in for a 5 pm dinner reservation and this seriously happened. So going into this spot it's all warm woods, dimly lit yes they have big windows but if it's overcast/raining be aware you might need your cell phone to look at the menu. The menu is seasonal and they have certain things always on the menu. They make a lot in house like the pastas, crackers and etc for your cheese board and the like. My friend brought me here for a belated birthday dinner and I was grateful for this treat. Our server was lovely but at the beginning just a little too on top of us. I get it you want to turn tables but we just got here and for two people why did they put us basically at a six top? When we arrived we had gotten here early, after we got in, seated the server showed up I unfortunately during her spiel needed the ladies room. When I came back I made a decision on the cocktail to start with: SPRINGTIME FOR LAFAYETTE vodka, cucumber, bianco vermouth, genepy, lime, hibiscus This was lovely and refreshing for this kind of springtime weather if possible try a cocktail. My pork shank was tender and savory and I loved the addition of the shiitake mushrooms and those fabulous house made pierogi's better than my grandmother's. My friends Pork Belly was succulent and had a nice umami hit and the rice was well made and tasty. My friend brought in a split of some Pol Roger Champagne to drink and FYI they have a corkage fee. I appreciate her bringing it but felt bad she had to pay the feel but hey I get it. We shared the CHOCOLATE COCONUT TART* coconut milk & dark chocolate, almond flour crust + add a scoop of ice cream or sorbet This is in all honesty something you really can't finish on your own it's so rich but the dark chocolate and coconut was so decadent but a nice way to finish off the meal. In all honesty I'll be back for sure, the place is really great, food was delicious and service was nice but... always a but I was a little annoyed of our server being a little too on top of us. Our reservation was at 5 we got out right before 6:30 pm so about an hour and a half. I'm guessing if you had more people it would be longer. I get it nowadays some places state they only want you at a table for so long.. but at the beginning of the experience being on top of us and I'd never been here was a ho hum. I think the idea of reservation only is a good idea at this place it's not huge and had a private room that was lovely. Some people did try to do a walk in but... I give the place 4.5/5 stars. Went here tonight for a planned vacay dinner. The Prix Faire would be a surprise until we got there to see what it would be tonight. Much to my astonishment it was pan seared duck, the big missing link to my food story...how could I not... Well, all I know about how duck should be cooked is that the skin should be crisp and the fat rendered out. Neither was the case for mine, but my companion's was closer. My first try at duck? Meh... But the carrot and ginger puree, well, I just showered in it... The veggies were undercooked for my taste. The starter Local Veggie Gespacho is probably good, but neither of us liked it, except for the jumbo grilled shrimp. The Black Forest Truffle dessert was very good. Would I recommend this place? If you happen to be gluten-free, as my wife is, I'm pretty certain you will love this spot since there are a number of options. My wife had fried chicken , which she can never normally have at a restaurant, and she loved it. A few of us had one of their specials a fennel sausage pasta, great dish. Another had scallops, great dish. Appetizers were especially incredible. Sounds simple enough but their French fries were unlike any you will ever have ever, incredibly original and tasty. After enjoying dinners at Kindred Fare numerous times since their opening years ago, last night's performance fell flat. As usual, the appetizers were always a hit. The cauliflower and the friendship fries are always very welcome, and filling. A caution to those of you who order these to share that too much of a good thing can impact your stomach later on! But the main courses disappointed. Two in our group had their fried chicken. As an aside, whatever happened to the option to have 2 pieces, not four? They were sauced with a sweet honey hot sauce that was just overwhelming and all diners felt was not appropriate. And my wife has always ordered and loved the fried chicken. This time three pieces came home that I'll end up eating at lunch today and probably tomorrow. One of our other dining partners and I both ordered the fennel sausage pasta (with a side of the foccacia bread). I can't comment for my dining partner as he expressed that he enjoyed it but a LOT was left uneaten. As for me, it was bland. Very bland. I expected so much more and was left with hardly any taste at all. The house made sorbets and ice creams were also wonderful as always but served wrong. I ordered two completely incompatable scoops - one a sweet sorbet and the other a creamy ice cream. The sorbet was served on top of the ice cream. My wife liked the ice cream, she did not like the sorbet. But the melting sorbet ruined the ice cream for her. Think differently about presentation. The cute glasses it is served in are perfect for one, not for two scoops. Serve them separately. Last evening was also the end of their Negroni week and I tried one of the Liv gin drinks with tomato. Wonderful, a great creation on the part of the bartending staff. It was refreshing, not overpowering, and definitely left you wanting more!
