Love this place so much! It is the absolute only place I made a reservation for to be certain we visited on our long weekend. The staff is great, knowledgeable on their options and attentive. The setting is beautiful, we were seated indoors with a view of the lake. We set the reservation online several days ahead & the earliest time slot was 8PM, but we adjusted for it and knew it would be worth it. The day of, there were several time slots showing (that had not been there before), but could've been due to cancellations or opening outdoor seating due to perfect weather. We had already timed our meals out and kept our spot. The food.... That gnocchi dish is soooo delicious that we couldn't help ourselves and ordered it again. It was just sheer perfection and although other dishes were described so temptingly ... IYKYN & our mouths were watering in anticipation of that dish. No regrets! Wait, yes... I regret not taking their amazing chocolate torte to go! Last year I did and it was heaven!

A group of 4 of us came to Ports Cafe on a Saturday night after a day of exploring Geneva, NY. Though we didn't have a reservation, the host was very welcoming and told us to wait and see what he can do. After waiting about 10 minutes, we were seated. Ports Cafe is very modern looking and cozy. We weren't too hungry so we ordered a few items to share. We ordered the sourdough bread, calamari-shrimp fry, burnt ends, and bread pudding. All the food was delicious. The flavors were on point and just melted in your mouth. Service was amazing from the start to the end. The restaurant has a parking lot too.

We came here last night for the first time. It's hard to get into so make sure to have a reservation! We ended up snagging a 6pm reservation the day before we went, assuming someone canceled. We were greeted right away and seated right away. All staff was kind. We enjoyed our cocktails from their menu. We ordered ribs for an appetizer. They were tasty and had a good flavor but were tough to chew, definitely not fall off the bone. Our entrees were wonderful though, recommended by our server, Jennifer. I got the flank steak and scallops which was cooked perfectly. The sautéd veggies were tasty and the smashed potatoes so yummy! My boyfriend got the market code stuffed with seafood which was also cooked perfectly and delicious. We ended the night with the churro cheesecake which was also very good. Overall, great restaurant and we'd come back!

The Delmonico Steak and Lamb Chops were done to perfection. Our Server Jade S. was great , we went with her recommendations, and honestly she was spot on!!! The area we were seated in was very nice, almost private. I ordered an Old Fashioned with Jameson's Irish Whiskey "muddled" it reminded me of the Drink I had at the Distillery in Dublin. We will definitely be back. FYI make sure you make reservations, well in advance.

We chose this place as our last dinner spot in the finger lakes area and we were pleased with our flank steak and scallops, bolognese, and short rib gnocchi. While the food was cooked well and the atmosphere is just shy of fancy, the bolognese left room for more to desire and the serving size among all of the meals were much smaller than expected. For the cost of the meals, we had expected about 15%-20% more on the plate, but other than that the service was also really great minus the longer wait for food. We went on a Tuesday night with reservations for four at 5:30pm. It got really busy after that and the food wait was long like I mentioned. I'd recommend making you eat something before unless you want to pay a lot for a little amount of food, but you'll be pleased by the taste and service!

Ask the Community - Ports Cafe

Is this a kid friendly spot? Not necessarily looking for food options more so if it's ok for 2 year olds to come and if they have high chairs?

I would think so - it's not too small or intimate. I think you'd be fine.

Do they have a kids menu or kids options for dinner?

No. I would say Port's is more of an adult restaurant. The food is amazing but not a lot of kid friendly options.

The most incredible (and only) speakeasy in the Finger Lakes…read more After hours of driving, we knew we needed a cool spot to go to at night for some delicious wine. Of course, the Finger Lakes are KNOWN for wine so we're just thinking we're making reservations for a wine bar (with "speakeasy" vibes). Which that would've been totally cool with us. After continuous back and forth, changing our reservations 50 million times, adding and taking people out, we finally made it to Vinifera on a Friday night and were super apologetic since we had to make yet another change. The staff was absolutely incredible and accommodating, they made sure our party of 10 would be in the same room/table. The only "downfall" was that we'd have to share the room with another small party. Which was absolutely not a problem and we ended up being BFF'S with them by the end of the night. We met the owner Jim - the most incredible human - and he took us down to the speakeasy (which passes right through a super secretive door in the back of the main room upstairs). Side note - the main room upstairs is a vibe on it's own btw and we would've been absolutely fine and happy there. It's an actual wine store and you can purchase all kind of local wines. Be sure to ask and get all the recommendations you want. Not only did we get to enjoy an incredible time but we got a super cool VIP experience and learned the story and so much history about this place, the concept, the origin and what sparked the idea of creating it. That itself, was a treat. On to the actual speakeasy experience. When you go downstairs (through that fun super cool super secretive door) - you're instantly transported to another era, another time. It's dark, it's velvety, chandeliers, spiderwebs (the aesthetic kind, idk if there were actually any but it fit the vibe in my head), Leonardo Da Vinci, Mona Lisa, candles, curtains. There are two super cool rooms, one to the right (which is where our large party sat at) and one to the left - totally recommended for smaller groups, it's cozy, it's chill, you can interact and share with other guests too. Just by this, I'm wowed. As if this wasn't enough, the drinks were absolutely incredible. I ended up ordering some kind of a smoked drink and they happily substituted the regular old fashioned for mezcal. What a dream. Everyone was happy with their drink orders, some ordered some off the menu things and they happily made them - even though they technically only serve what's on the menu. Wine flights are also available if you're in the wine vibe. Bottom line: we loved this place SO much, we came back 2 night's later for our last night. We sat in the other room and absolutely loved and enjoyed it. I had a lavender drink and it was delish. This place is a GEM and you should absolutely check it out and support it if you're in the area. If you're not, well now you have a place I know you'll love to go to!

My husband and I have been to Ravines Wine Cellars several times since 'discovering them' during a special farm-to-table dinner and wine pairing at Good Luck a few years back. That night we enjoyed a 5-course meal and each course was paired with a different wine. It was the first time we ever experienced drinking finger lakes wines that we really enjoyed and could see ourselves buying for private consumption! Shortly after that, we made the trip out to the wine cellar in Geneva to do a tasting. On our first trip, we did the wine and cheese tasting - loved everything and went home with a bottle of Meritage. On the second trip, we did the wine and chocolate tasting (which features chocolates from Hedonist) and came home with a bottle of the Vignoles. Fast forward another couple of years and we took advantage of a holiday event which featured food pairing tastings from Brown Hound Bistro at the Ravines location in Hammondsport. We left with several bottles of wine for holiday gifts. Every experience was great, with friendly and knowledgeable people, enjoyable atmospheres and yummy goodness. Most recently, I was lucky to attend a special dinner at the Ravinous Kitchen as part of a company event. There were 12 of us for a 6-course meal on a Sunday evening (usually they are closed at this time). Included was a tour of the winery and wine cellar, with time spent with the owner and the head chef. It was amazing. The chef prepared really, really delicious dishes for each wine: --We started with glasses of their 2009 sparkling Brut Rose which was delicious. Paired with a bacon puff and served with herbed crème fresh, this was a lovely little bite. --Next, while we were in the cellar, we were served a parsnip bisque with caramelized cheese. We ate that while tasting their 'new' 2015 Meritage right out of the barrel. It was cool in the cellar and the bisque and wine was a perfect little warm up. --First of the 'mains' was a large serving of local Lively Run chevre, with a side of kale and some pomegranate drizzle, served with their 2015 dry Riesling. They also gave each of us a fresh baked roll, and mine was gluten free - the most perfect gluten free roll I've ever had - truly crusty and 'French-bread-like'. I could have died happy after eating this course. --Second 'main' was a stuffed squash with some kind of spinach or creamed green inside. This was doused in brown butter and served with a smear of red miso. The dish was served with their 2013 Pinot Noir. Holy deliciousness. Unlike any squash dish I've ever had, this was definitely the table favorite. Super savory and umami, great depth. Super yum. --Final 'main' was braised beef short rib served with shaved brussels sprouts and a mushroom 'cream' made by roasting a medley of mushrooms and pureeing them with cream. This dish was served with au jus and the 2013 Maximilian red. A rich, delicious combination. I have to admit at this point I was over the top stuffed, but even so, when the chef brought out extra servings of the short ribs, I forced myself to have a bit more. The au jus was delicious and the meat was totally fall-apart tender. So good. --For dessert, we were served a butterscotch 'risotto' - basically a rice pudding with white chocolate, apricots and toasted oats. This was served with the Vignoles. Take a bite and a swig and swirl them in your mouth - flavor explosion! I really love the Vignoles. Even those at the table who are not fans of dessert wines/ports/ice wines drank every drop! (Too bad because I was offering to finish whatever anyone wasn't going to drink, but no takers....) Ravines is definitely at the tippy top of my list of favorite wineries and experiences in the finger lakes. And with all the new awesome eateries in Geneva and the focus on making the little college town a foodie destination, I highly recommend you join the Ravinous club, rent an Airbnb and go there to spend a weekend of eating, drinking and merriment!
