Massive fan of the Belhurst Castle in general, a must-visit stop for us whenever we're remotely near the FLX area. And Stonecutter's Tavern is a neat fixture in an already-fun, gorgeous spot. Once you've visited the Winery, toured the lawns in front of the castle, and maybe stopped by Edgar's (the last of which I'm kinda ambivalent about, truth be told - nice staff there but the food's nothing spectacular), I highly recommend stopping here at Stonecutter's for a good, simple meal. They have a bar area that you can order their signature Wine & Ciders at (along with just about any other drink you can think of), and you're allowed to take those drinks right outside to the Fire Pit they turn on during the evenings (you can even see the stars as you lounge outside, really amazing little spot). Beyond that though, it's a regular, casual dining spot. My wife and I have tried several menu items over the last couple of years, and our recent meal of Chili + Fries next to a very tasty grilled corned beef sandwich with sauerkraut & melted Swiss cheese was perfect for a no-fuss lunch together. Staff are super accommodating and polite, day or night. We actually showed up just after closing on Sunday night, but they still fixed us up with a couple of drinks so we could go outside and sip by the fireplace. Definitely recommend a pitstop here for anyone touring the Seneca Lake wineries or anything along those lines. read more

I'm not exaggerating when I say this was the worst service of our lives. It started out really great in the gift shop by the wine bar where we had a lovely time sampling beer and wine and cheese. Zero complaints with that bar. However, after waiting 30 minutes for a table in Stonecutters we finally got a call and headed to get a table. When we got to the hostess stand there was no one there for at least 10 minutes while we waited again. As we waited at least three parties queued up behind us. When the hostess (with a very bad attitude) finally reappeared she pointed at a table and told us to go sit down with no menus. I had a feeling right then we were in for trouble but my husband was just happy to be out of the house. So we sat, and sat, and sat, and finally she brought menus. Then we sat and sat and sat again waiting for a waiter who showed up about 20 minutes after we were seated. We were ready to order but he just wanted drink orders. He wrote nothing down and remembered even less. Then he brought us a lemonade which neither of us ordered. The weed gummies must be good in this part of the country. We ordered drinks and soups. The soups didn't show up until dessert time. Waiters who write nothing down should be jailed or flogged. We're undecided which. I ordered a turkey panini that allegedly had cranberries on it. My husband had a patty melt. I ordered a salad on the side. I got fries instead. We waited forever for the main courses and when they finally arrived there was no ketchup or mustard. We asked for it but it never showed up. My turkey panini was bland as hell with no discernible cranberries anywhere. And the fries I didn't order were gross and soggy. But I didn't dare ask for a salad knowing I wasn't going to get it. We are currently driving home wishing we had gone to Applebees or Denny's instead. The waiter was pleasant but totally unaware of how slow and frustrating he was. WRITE SHIT DOWN. And move like you have rent to pay please. Even still he had the confidence to ask for a tip. Good for him. It was a bold move after having to apologize every time he approached the table. My husband tips everybody way too much all the time. But this time he looked this guy dead in the eyes and said "10%" with no hesitation. I've never been more in love. We came here while driving around visiting wineries. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. It's such a nice view of the lake. This place has a lot of history to it and it's interesting to learn about. We had lunch outside. Our waitress was extremely friendly. She overheard us talking about how it was my mom's birthday and she surprised us at the end with dessert, which was really nice and delicious. We opted to sit out on the patio and enjoy the nice weather. Service was really good. Our server was very nice, and other servers would jump in to help/serve as needed. My husband & i both had the hard cider. I had blueberry which was good. My husband had the apple which was really good, nice & crisp. I had the steak sandwich with side salad - delicious. Good roll. Belhurst Castle - was recommended I stop in here for a drink with their lakefront views and nice digs. I didn't mind the place at first, but after standing at the hostess stand for 5 minutes while staff walked by and didn't acknowledge us I decided to not be a victim and just walk right to the bar. We went to Stonecutters for lunch and dined on the outside patio. The patio has a nice view to the lake and is overall cozy. We wanted to try their daily special flatbread but they were out of many ingredients but said they can make us a substitute chicken flatbread. The flatbread was overall disappointing, the crust was burnt a little too much and overall taste was lackluster. I also had their seafood chowder and steak sandwich. Not a good experience. After being seated, it took about 10-12 mins for a waitstaff person to acknowledge us. We immediately got our orders in, no appetizers because the general vibe of the place was not one of overwhelming customer service. This proved right as it took 40 mins from time of order to when our food hit the table. While waiting for the food, we were entertained by an irate customer at the bar who was being vocal about his displeasure in the less than speedy service. The food was lackluster. I got the burger which wasn't too bad, besides I was hungry so there's that. The stonecutters steak sandwich was mid. It felt like it had been sitting a while as the sandwich bread was thoroughly soaked (bleh). There was no point to the au jus cause the sandwich bread was already juiced to the max. Beautiful room with giant picture window overlooking the Lake. Extremely comfortable padded leather chairs with wheels. Truly a comfortable dining experience. I enjoyed the falafel, hold the red onions. Similar falafel recipe to what I've had in other restaurants. Most restaurants serve their falafel with tahina sauce, so it's vegan; this restaurant uses feta and tsatsiki sauce, both of which are dairy. However, I liked the way the sandwich tasted with the feta and tsatsiki. I wish the menu mentioned the green and Kalamata olives, most of which I spotted and pulled out of the sandwich, since I dislike olives. The naan bread was delicious. I would order this dish again but request no olives. My glass of Belhurst Pinot Grigio was OK but I would try a different wine next time. The pistachio cake dessert was tasty but I would try a different dessert next time. Too much cream, not enough pistachio nuts. Both the "ricotta" layer and the "pistachio" layer tasted and had the texture of whipped cream. I had expected a denser cake that was heavier on the nuts and ricotta. There were several other desserts I would like to try, starting with the lemon mascarpone cake. My husband enjoyed his Caesar salad. read more

We had such a great time here today! The food and wine were exceptional but the service really stood out. Colby greeted us at the host stand, sat us at the bar because the wait for a restaurant tables was long at that point, and then really took care of us while we were there. All our food was really good, and the Belhurst wines are outstanding. Colby answered all our questions knowledgeably and happily. We were looking for a nice, relaxing, fun afternoon with our friends, and we got that here. But, Colby really brought it home for us. The food and drink were really good but had the service not been as great as it was, we would have had a nice time, but not the exceptionally fun time that we did have. Our party of four had lunch here on a Thursday. First off, we waited for about 10 minutes at the "Please wait to be seated" sign with no one acknowledging us. Finally, we asked a passing waiter what to do, and he said sit anywhere. It was about 1:00pm so it was on the later side of lunch and many of the table were dirty. We chose a table. Again, we waited about 10 minutes with no one stopping at the table. We stopped someone and asked for a menu. Waited another 10 minutes, and we flagged down a server walking by to get drinks. We also placed our order at that time. In the meantime, one of the nicer tables opened up outside so we asked to move outside. We were met with eye rolls but did it anyway. Service here was definitely below par. Our server was impatient and a little rude in her replies. Food here is just okay. The cheesesteak my husband and I split was large in size but sloppily made and so-so in flavor. The couple with us seemed to enjoy their soup and patty melt. At the end of the meal, I asked for a glass of water. It never came. The view here is very pretty. The outdoor seating on a beautiful day is very nice. The food was okay. Nice place, great food, unfortunately at 7:45pm on Saturday when open until 9pm they said they were no longer seating even with empty tables in the dining room and no one apparently waiting to be seated even though we were told there was too long of a wait. Visiting our one time a year from out of town and not being able to eat at one of our favorite places to eat was highly disappointing, we'll make sure to find a new favorite place that is more accommodating. read more

The wife and I were passing though Geneva on a nice early fall day and we decided to go to Belhurst Castle to take a look around. Well we noticed the restaurant and more importantly the patio out back with tables overlooking Seneca Lake. We weren't hungry- it was early afternoon -so we just had a few drinks and enjoyed the view and the relaxing vibe. They had plenty of choices of cocktails, craft beer and of course- wine! The service was good and that was it. This restaurant has a beautiful view, but the food is so sub-par as to be embarrassing. My side greens had a rotten portion that should have been detected. My burger was not seasoned, under-cooked despite being thin and had the smallest tomato slice ever on it. My colleague had an awful meal as well- a signature salad. The chicken looked like it had been microwaved-not grilled. Up your game, Stonecutter's! The food isn't cheap and the view isn't enough to make up for it. So disappointed! We stopped in here for a drink after dinner at Edgar's. The lighting was extremely bright and there was no music playing - the ambiance was extremely depressing. I had the pumpkin martini which was very good but I watched the bartender make it and he put half and half in it, when it wasn't listed as an ingredient on the drink list. "No magic at this Castle" Its getting one star only because the grounds are beautiful. Everything else was an absolute disaster. I wish I was being dramatic. The service was less then poor, and food was lower then subpar. Extremely unfriendly waitress, and our table sat and watched our food sit for ten minutes on the serving tray waiting to be served. The fried food was cooked in oil that most likely hasn't been changed in quite some time. The strawberry salad could have been confused as a soup it was so wet. Terribly rude service and borderline gross food. Our server barely acknowledged us and then disdainfully asked if we would be needing menus. I ordered a sparkling rosé sangria, which came with ice cubes to my surprise. Are none of the components cold enough that they needed to add ice to the drink and then add a straw because there was too much ice to drink without it? When we ordered, our waitress mumbled the entire time so we had to ask 3 times what the sides were. I swear she mumbled even quieter out of spite each time we asked. My lobster roll looked like imitation crab meat on a non-toasted store bought folded slice of white bread right from the bag. We were assured the filling was real lobster though they didn't say where it was from. The onion and pepper wasn't diced small enough so there was too much unwelcome crunch in the sandwich. Absolutely wonderful experience to come here and relax around their property. Me and my husband ate at the Stonecutter's tavern. We came here for a relaxing lunch on Sunday. The weather was hot, so we ate inside. The wait staff is fast and efficient. We ordered: I ordered the Charcuterie platter, which was marvelous. It featured two different types of local hard dry salami, two types of hard cheese, two types of crackers, honey, olives and pickled veggies. Everything tasted delicious and it was quite a bit of it. I also ordered hot coffee which was served in glass cup which I prefer. My husband ordered the Statesmen Steakhouse Salad, which came with tenderloin medallions atop greens, crispy onions, Gorgonzola cheese crumbles and grape tomatoes. It's a large portion and all the ingredients paired well with each other. We walked around the grounds after lunch and sat on one of the many benches provided, in a shade under the ancient trees and watched the lake activity. Highly recommend for leisure lunch. We also toured the Edgar's Restaurant while it was closed and the rooms are magnificent. I would recommend for a fancy dinner to treat yourself for a special occasion. read more

My friend and I went for lunch. We both ordered the seafood chowder. The menu made it seem that there was all this seafood in it. Well when it arrived it was all puréed and both were cold. We asked them to be heated it came back with a large amount of butter on top. So I asked for the French onion soup. They melted the cheese on top but the broth was cold. I sent it back. Lost my appetite. The waitress did apologize but went to the register and was giggling with her coworker while looking at us. Several other table complained and sent things back. Waited over 10 minutes for a server to come to our table. My husband had to walk over to the hostess and ask if we were supposed to order our food at the bar, because no one had come to our table. She apologized and a few minutes later, our waiter came to take our order. The view out the windows behind the bar was lovely. The place had an old school gentleman's library look to it. Service remained slow. We hardly saw our waiter, though we couldn't tell if they were understaffed or not. I think the bartenders were doubling as servers. Food: Buffalo chicken flatbread appetizer was fine; a bit salty. My husband ordered the pesto chicken sandwich (bland) and I ordered the sweet and spicy fried chicken sandwich. We visited Stonecutter's Tavern on a Thursday afternoon for a late lunch. The restaurant itself is very nice, with comfy chairs and a beautiful view of the lake. Outdoor seating with umbrellas is also available. Our server was very nice and I have no complaints about the service. The food? ICK!! I wanted the patty melt with American cheese, but according to our server they only had swiss and cheddar cheese (I don't like either on my sandwiches) so I settled for the steak sandwich, which came with a very unflavored au jus. I had to add salt to it and I don't typically add extra salt to any of my food. It also came with a horseradish cream sauce on it, but it was so inconsistent throughout the sandwich that I would taste very little in certain bites and then not taste it at all in most other bites. For a price tag of $18 (fries were $3 extra!!), it was not worth it AT ALL. My boyfriend had a cheesesteak flatbread that was also very underwhelming. It looked good, but the taste was off and we both left very disappointed. We wouldn't return. I see many older terrible reviews of the food that I wish I would've read before coming here, it's a shame they don't care to up their game. read more
