My partner wanted to stop by here as he knew it to have good food and to show me the place where he held a memorial service for his former partner of fifty years. Yes, that's 50 years, which is a long time for a gay couples. Anyway, Antique Inn is an interesting place with the focus of décor being based upon antiques. There are a good number of antiques, nice enough but I didn't see anything of particular note. And then there is always that very disturbing fact when you realize you and your partner are older than some of antiques on display. Antique Inn is one of those places that exudes a certain cozy charm about it which is enhanced by a most gracious and charming proprietor. It's a place where you really feel comfortable and at home. As I believe Antique Inn is basically a dinner place, the lunch menu is somewhat limited but more than adequate especially considering the fact that they have daily special offerings. For my meal I went for one of the deli sandwiches with pastrami, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo. It was a really good sandwich and to my delight and in sort of an Upstate New York tradition came in a Kaiser roll. My partner went for their Antique Inn Burger which, after no longer being able to put up with my petulance, let me try. As burgers go it too was very good and now with no surprise served in a Kaiser roll as opposed to the usual burger bun.

Driving by and one quick glance, you wouldn't expect much from this restaurant. Once entering, there was a friendly face (Jenny) waiting to greet you with all smiles. This small but cozy and well decorated restaurant is very quaint. The menu is attractive, and surprisingly good. I went ahead and started off with the crab cakes. These were very tasty with real crab chunks that packed the cake. For mains I got the Prime Rib which was cooked the correct temperature. Taste wise, it was very well seasoned, not overly salty and well balanced. The accompanied spaghetti with homemade sauce was delicious. The biggest highlight of this experience was the great service and hospitality of Jenny. Not only the food was spectacular, Jenny will play a role of us returning as well. Don't let the old fashioned exterior discourage you, inside lies an old fashioned well kept restaurant with fantastic food.

We had dinner here tonight and we were so happy with our meal. Jenny the owner waited on us and helped to make our night fabulous! The food is fantastic and Jenny's attitude made the night a fun outing. The stuffed shells were awesome and so was the salmon. We felt like we were treated like family here. This is a family owned and run restaurant the quality of service and congeniality of service is the beat so far on the Lake. You will not find better in Penn Yan. God knows we have tried and this lovely little place is now a home away from home for us!

We purchased a summer home not too far from the antique Inn and while looking for local restaurants to try out, we had no idea this restaurant even existed until I looked at reviews in the area. We weren't a small party and they accommodated us with open arms. The staff was super friendly! Everyone in our party was happy with their ordering. The food that came out was delicious and hot. We order the fried haddock, prime rib, chicken parmigiana, eggplant parmigiana, manicotti, and the kid's had their spaghetti with meatball and fried shrimp dishes. My 4 year old DEVOURED the carrots that was her side dish. We were shocked! Our other kids all finished their fried shrimp baskets as well. Kid's can be the best or worst critics and obviously the chef at the Antique Inn did something right! My wife had the the manicotti and as a picky vegetarian, she loved her dinner. Her mother who's an Italian and ALWAYS critiques others' tomato sauce (or gravy) said she loved the taste and consistency. I had the prime rib. I asked for Med-rare and got Med-well. I ordered the queen cut but seemed a little small. Not a big deal for me though. The flavor and juiciness of this dish was OUTSTANDING and definitely made up for it. Talk about savoring every bite! The prices were reasonable, the atmosphere was comfortable and the food was great! We are so glad to find this hidden gem! We will definitely be back again for the excellent meals! Hats off to the chef! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND people to check this place out!

The free bread was warm and delicious. The brown butter Manhattan was on point. An amuse bouche arrived. We shared the "Eggs on Eggs" starter - deviled eggs topped with caviar and blinis. For $31, we received two eggs, each halved and topped with a blini and a small amount of indistinguishable caviar, with a bit of shredded lettuce. While tasty, neither the ingredients nor presentation justified the price tag. With the mains, I had a glass of Hector wine essence. That was also good. But the egg topped pork chop was chewy and also pricy at $39. The menu promised a hash, but it sat on top of fries. If memory serves, La Portena's crab dish, a special, was announced as a saute, but turned out to be crab cakes. These commanded a $43 price tag. This was a nice enough dish, but expensive for what it was. If you are sensing a theme here, I think the prices here are about 20% higher than they should be. Perhaps we came on an off night. Later that week, we ate at the Burnt Rose, under the same management, and had a better experience.

We enjoyed lots of wonderfully made cocktails: the banana old fashioned, brown butter manhattan, Date night martini, and the special margarita (strawberry jalapeño). The grilled romaine wasn't anything special, but was tasty. The duck was cooked perfectly and the pork had good flavor. Overall, a great experience and high level dining for the area!

We've heard mixed reviews for this restaurant, and after our own experience we definitely won't be recommending this one. The menu & prices say fine dining.... But that's not what we experienced. We had to ask for the wine list, it wasn't given to us with the menu as you would in a well run restaurant. The view of the lake would have been great, but the windows were filthy on the inside and out. My husbands steak that was ordered well done arrived blackened on the outside and literally ice cold and raw on the inside. The only person who offered any kind of acknowledgment for nearly giving my husband salmonella was the waiter but it wasn't his responsibility to apologize. My steak was cooked correctly but it was a very tough piece of meat. The price markup on the wine was OVER DOUBLE. Pretty sure our deserts were not made fresh.... They were awful. There was really no excuse for a bad experience... there were only a handful of customers. (Now we know why.) Very disappointing experience and we will not go back. I worked in the fine dining restaurant industry for decades... the main deck is very overpriced, very poorly run & desperately needs a new manager. The only positives were the waiter was good, and the risotto was very good. This place has potential with competent management & kitchen staff. We will not be back. *review copied from my Open Table review.

We all walk in not expecting anything, and holy heck this place looked like a 1970s time warp inside. But the staff was nice and the grub was decent, and what really made this a hit was the totally random vintage arcade inside. Let me get to the details: Service: staffs were not attentive, friendly, nor helpful. The restaurant was busy when we came so we decided to seat outside. However, their outdoor tables were wobbly. Also, there were no bugs control devices nor heating lamps to accommodate us. When we asked to move inside, their response was we have to talk to the host and the hostess told us it is not possible because they were "too busy".... Yet we would see an empty table where they rather seat 2 people that come after us instead of us. On top of all that, our sever never came to refill our water. For service, this place is a zero star for me. Food: we ordered their famous heavy plate. The food size was loaded for the price, everything tastes fine but nothing was exceptional. Giving them some stars for the decent food. Atmosphere: inside has lots of booth style seatings and bar seatings. They can accomplish large parties. Outdoor seating is not great as their tables were cheap and they're seating on a slope. There were no heat lamps or bug controls so I don't recommend eating outside in the evening here. Overall: honestly, we felt ignored at this restaurant. I wouldn't come back here since they're not very accommodating or nice. Highly recommend management to train their staffs better.
