My partner wanted to stop by here as he knew it to have good food and to show me the place where he held a memorial service for his former partner of fifty years. Yes, that's 50 years, which is a long time for a gay couples. Anyway, Antique Inn is an interesting place with the focus of décor being based upon antiques. There are a good number of antiques, nice enough but I didn't see anything of particular note. And then there is always that very disturbing fact when you realize you and your partner are older than some of antiques on display. Antique Inn is one of those places that exudes a certain cozy charm about it which is enhanced by a most gracious and charming proprietor. It's a place where you really feel comfortable and at home. As I believe Antique Inn is basically a dinner place, the lunch menu is somewhat limited but more than adequate especially considering the fact that they have daily special offerings. For my meal I went for one of the deli sandwiches with pastrami, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo. It was a really good sandwich and to my delight and in sort of an Upstate New York tradition came in a Kaiser roll. My partner went for their Antique Inn Burger which, after no longer being able to put up with my petulance, let me try. As burgers go it too was very good and now with no surprise served in a Kaiser roll as opposed to the usual burger bun.

Driving by and one quick glance, you wouldn't expect much from this restaurant. Once entering, there was a friendly face (Jenny) waiting to greet you with all smiles. This small but cozy and well decorated restaurant is very quaint. The menu is attractive, and surprisingly good. I went ahead and started off with the crab cakes. These were very tasty with real crab chunks that packed the cake. For mains I got the Prime Rib which was cooked the correct temperature. Taste wise, it was very well seasoned, not overly salty and well balanced. The accompanied spaghetti with homemade sauce was delicious. The biggest highlight of this experience was the great service and hospitality of Jenny. Not only the food was spectacular, Jenny will play a role of us returning as well. Don't let the old fashioned exterior discourage you, inside lies an old fashioned well kept restaurant with fantastic food.

We had dinner here tonight and we were so happy with our meal. Jenny the owner waited on us and helped to make our night fabulous! The food is fantastic and Jenny's attitude made the night a fun outing. The stuffed shells were awesome and so was the salmon. We felt like we were treated like family here. This is a family owned and run restaurant the quality of service and congeniality of service is the beat so far on the Lake. You will not find better in Penn Yan. God knows we have tried and this lovely little place is now a home away from home for us!

We purchased a summer home not too far from the antique Inn and while looking for local restaurants to try out, we had no idea this restaurant even existed until I looked at reviews in the area. We weren't a small party and they accommodated us with open arms. The staff was super friendly! Everyone in our party was happy with their ordering. The food that came out was delicious and hot. We order the fried haddock, prime rib, chicken parmigiana, eggplant parmigiana, manicotti, and the kid's had their spaghetti with meatball and fried shrimp dishes. My 4 year old DEVOURED the carrots that was her side dish. We were shocked! Our other kids all finished their fried shrimp baskets as well. Kid's can be the best or worst critics and obviously the chef at the Antique Inn did something right! My wife had the the manicotti and as a picky vegetarian, she loved her dinner. Her mother who's an Italian and ALWAYS critiques others' tomato sauce (or gravy) said she loved the taste and consistency. I had the prime rib. I asked for Med-rare and got Med-well. I ordered the queen cut but seemed a little small. Not a big deal for me though. The flavor and juiciness of this dish was OUTSTANDING and definitely made up for it. Talk about savoring every bite! The prices were reasonable, the atmosphere was comfortable and the food was great! We are so glad to find this hidden gem! We will definitely be back again for the excellent meals! Hats off to the chef! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND people to check this place out!

I had walked past 18th Amendment earlier in the week and thought it looked worth checking out - just peering in the window, it had a great atmosphere and inviting vibe. When I requested an online reservation I received a prompt and friendly callback - and when we arrived the next night, they had a highchair set up and waiting for us. The cocktails were excellent. I don't mind paying almost city prices when drinks are thoughtfully crafted, balanced, and unique - these absolutely delivered. Our server was wonderful. We asked whether the chef could prepare something for the baby and she quickly returned with several options. Since it was his first birthday, we let him splurge and ordered a filet with risotto. The kitchen sent it out right away, which helped avoid an imminent pre-bedtime meltdown. Dad tax applied--the baby's dinner was delicious! The bartender even sent over a small mocktail for him to try - a thoughtful touch. Every entrée at the table was phenomenal and everyone cleaned their plates. The ingredients were fresh, the portions were generous, and the quality was evident throughout the meal. Great food paired with outstanding service made it easy to justify the price, which again, was not extraordinarily high, all things considered. I highly recommend 18th Amendment if you're looking for a dining experience that's a step above the ordinary.

Pros: -The cocktails were lovely, very inventive, and delicious. Loved that they used fresh local strawberries! -The appetizers were also creative and tasty. We got the chef eggs and the cremini mushrooms. However for the price the apps were tiny -My entree (the Pasture - souvlaki with Israeli couscous and cucumber salad) was delicious, well seasoned and balanced Cons: -Service was shockingly slow. We had a 7:30 reservation and didn't get our entrees until 9pm. For almost every element we ordered (bread service, apps, entrees) we had to follow up with the waitress to see what the ETA would be. She apologized several times, but a manager got defensive and said that there was only one chef. It was a Saturday night and there were only 2 other small tables in the place, and maybe 3 people at the bar, so no clear reason why everything was so slow. At these prices, especially in Penn Yan, you would expect better service. -Most of our party ordered the Bucher. I understand it can be tricky to plate 5 burgers at once, but for this price, you'd expect the burgers to not come out soggy on the bottom. With the fried egg, gravy, and melted cheese the burgers only had one texture (mushy) and a one-note, overly rich flavor. Really needs a fresh or acidic element to add textural contrast and cut through the fat. The fries lacked seasoning, we needed to add more salt. -There was a surprise $15 credit card charge, which was not posted on their website or menus. We only saw it when it appeared on the final bill. While credit card surcharges aren't unheard of, in NY state they need to be posted ahead of time. Legality aside, hitting customers with a surprise charge at an upscale place like this is honestly tacky.

We had a group of six (four adults and two kids). At the start of the meal, we realized there wasn't a drink menu. When I asked our server for one, she let me know it was on a chalkboard 30 feet from our table. So I politely walked over and yelled back to our table with the options. Then we ordered appetizers. The onion rings and garlic parmesan fries were good. The bruschetta was okay, but the bread they put it on was the same pita they use for their hummus--not a crostini, which is normally how bruschetta is served. Overall, it was lackluster. Last were a dozen steamers. The clams came in a wooden chicken-wing bowl, filled halfway with a butter, wine, onion, and tomato sauce. The clams were overcooked, with each piece of clam meat about the size of a dime. Then came the "dinner." The table ordered two beef on wecks, which were inedible. They came on a hamburger bun with no salt and only a few kummelweck seeds. They don't have fresh horseradish on the side like everywhere else in WNY; instead, they slap on cold horseradish sauce. Both sandwiches were cold, and the meat was extremely low quality. They also got French onion soup as their side. I can honestly say that after eating 1,000+ bowls of French onion soup in my life, this was by far the worst. The bowl was filled with croutons, leaving virtually no room for broth or onions. The cheese they used was some cheap Swiss cheese that came off the top of the bowl in one giant, cold piece. 0/100! Next was the Cuban sandwich, which was also cold and made with low-quality ingredients. I took two bites and gave up. The third dish was the XXX Hot Chicken Wings. The chicken was gummy, and the sauce was a dark brown paste that tasted like chipotle. It wasn't hot at all. I ate four of the 12 wings before I just quit. Lastly, we ordered a large pizza. They charge $2.00 for every topping. It tasted EXACTLY like a frozen Tony's Supreme pizza you can get for $8.99 at the grocery store. Except we ordered four toppings, so this pizza cost us $34.00. The sauce and toppings didn't go out far enough, leaving a 2-3-inch crust that was hard and disgusting. We sent the first beef on weck back. It was the first thing that hit the table. After we received the rest of the food, we wanted to send all of it back. We got up from the table and told the waitress that no one could eat anything. She took the beef on weck off the bill. The service was not great either. The server only came to take our order and drop off the food. She also forgot to bring the last order of drinks. After we complained, we noticed her mood completely changed. She then just brought us the bill. She said, "I wish you'd told me something was wrong." We explained that we did tell her something was wrong, and she never checked on us again. I also explained that there really wasn't anything she could have done because it wasn't one bad dish--it was everything we ordered for dinner that was bad. We didn't want six more dinners brought out that sucked. The bill: If I had the courage, I would have asked to speak with a manager or owner and requested that the entire bill be removed except for the drinks, fries, and onion rings. But at that point, we just wanted to get out of there. The bill was $210 before tip for the worst meal I've had in as long as I can remember. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Save your money and make a PB&J at home.

Coming in on a Tuesday night, the place was busy and the wait was about 30 minutes -- but there was free seating at the bar. Fair enough, not many restaurants were even open in Geneva on a Tuesday. The food was solid -- nothing extraordinary, but nothing to complain about either, and the presentation on those big plates is genuinely fun. The lady bartender had her hands full preparing drinks while also serving everyone seated at the bar, including food orders. It was sometimes hard to catch her attention, but overall she did a great job juggling it all. What really bothered me: the owner (CB) is one of the few Master Sommeliers in the world and a big promoter of the FLX wine region (which I love), so can anyone explain why a glass of FLX wine costs about 40% more than a glass of California or even Australian wine? That's not exactly "Think NY, Drink NY" -- despite those charming stickers around the restaurant (which I do love).
