Yes it is a little pricier for their ice cream than other places in the area but it's worth it! They have a drive through option for ice cream which is so cool. Plenty of seating outside and there's also a fun area for kids to play.

As usual, the chicken family pack was DELICIOUS!! I LOVE the corn fritters, Cole slaw and macaroni salad! We didn't want to miss the homemade ice cream....peanut butter ripple is my favorite!! Staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean and neat. Perfect place to meet family in the area.

Outstanding homemade ice cream - so many varieties! Did not have the opportunity to try kitchen items,

THIS PLACE IS JUST AMAZING!!!! Second time going this trip and went to get the ice cream this time and it was so good. Friendly staff, Amazing ice cream and chicken and love the decor they have for Coca Cola at Seneca farms. Would definitely recommend coming here and get the soft serve and go sit below the heater.

My family and I stopped in on our way to Central NY and I'm glad we did. Fried chicken was the main menu item we came for, and the dark meat combo was out of this world. For sides we got hush puppies, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes which were all well done. We ended up sitting outside (and there is a bunch of space out back) and they call you to pick up via a loudspeaker, nice and easy. I'm unsure if they are open in the winter but there are about 6 tables inside so plan accordingly! Nice place, friendly staff, and roadside fried chicken and ice cream. We'll be back next time we are passing through!

Someone said they had the best chicken Famous chicken? Not the day I stopped. The fingers are horribly dry, tasteless and the Mac and cheese, bland. Think cafeteria style sums it up. Sadly only the sides, slaw and the fritters were the standouts. Counter service was average. Inside was small, with a few high tables and booths. Outdoor area as well. They are advertising as air conditioned dining room, not so. Spent a very long time sweating and uncomfortably waiting for my order.

Trying to go every evening after dinner for our vacation week. So many options. Extremely friendly staff. Drive thru option perfect if you already have some people in pajamas. But also the indoor and outdoor seating options are plentiful and varied. Souvenir shop across the lot closes earlier than ice cream but offers lots of town-branded items and an assortment of other items to add to your memorabilia collection.

Ice cream has a really nice base texture and flavor! The heath crunch needs more mix ins.

Very small sundaes

We're loyal customers and have been coming here for years. Tonight's chicken was the usual fantastic! The ice cream portions were pathetic. A kiddie sundae and a regular sundae are pictured. The smallest sundaes ever from here. Tiny dollop of whipped cream. When we asked about the sizing and expressed displeasure, there was absolutely no positive customer service. They didn't care. $11.50 wasted. It's going to take a lot to get me here again, which is too bad.

YUM!! If your visiting Penn Yan this is your #1 stop for a Southern-fried dream!! Seneca Farms has it all- from fresh, homemade ice cream, to merch, to the best fried chicken you'll find in a 50-mile radius. Make sure to give yourself enough time, the wait can be long (they are busy but efficient) but it's so worth it!! Enjoy

Cute small-town spot along route 54 as you enter Penn Yan. They have a drive through for fried chicken and ice cream set up in the store. They have all sorts of old-fashioned decor inside and the store front is bright red and white which really sticks out along the highway. I went on a weeknight with my wife and it was rush hour for high schoolers and kids in little league baseball uniforms. They have a ton of outdoor seating out back.

Food was amazing! Fried chicken has best flavored breading I've ever had. Nice outdoor seating areas where kids can play as well.

Ask the Community - Seneca Farms

The website suggests taking a walk down to the lake after dinner. Is there a path to the lake? Also wondering if the actual chicken farm and ice cream factory is on the property? Do they have tours?

Hey! I work at Seneca Farms so figured I'd answer this for you! No, there isn't a direct path down to the lake, but, if you keep going down the street past the parking lot, you will come across a village owned park named "Indian Pines" pretty cool… Read more

The free bread was warm and delicious. The brown butter Manhattan was on point. An amuse bouche arrived. We shared the "Eggs on Eggs" starter - deviled eggs topped with caviar and blinis. For $31, we received two eggs, each halved and topped with a blini and a small amount of indistinguishable caviar, with a bit of shredded lettuce. While tasty, neither the ingredients nor presentation justified the price tag. With the mains, I had a glass of Hector wine essence. That was also good. But the egg topped pork chop was chewy and also pricy at $39. The menu promised a hash, but it sat on top of fries. If memory serves, La Portena's crab dish, a special, was announced as a saute, but turned out to be crab cakes. These commanded a $43 price tag. This was a nice enough dish, but expensive for what it was. If you are sensing a theme here, I think the prices here are about 20% higher than they should be. Perhaps we came on an off night. Later that week, we ate at the Burnt Rose, under the same management, and had a better experience.

We enjoyed lots of wonderfully made cocktails: the banana old fashioned, brown butter manhattan, Date night martini, and the special margarita (strawberry jalapeño). Our food was also super tasty with great presentation and flavor. We got the duck and pork and shared the grilled romaine app. We like all ! The grilled romaine wasn't anything special, but was tasty. The duck was cooked perfectly and the pork had good flavor. Overall, a great experience and high level dining for the area!

We've heard mixed reviews for this restaurant, and after our own experience we definitely won't be recommending this one. The menu & prices say fine dining.... But that's not what we experienced. We had to ask for the wine list, it wasn't given to us with the menu as you would in a well run restaurant. The view of the lake would have been great, but the windows were filthy on the inside and out. My husbands steak that was ordered well done arrived blackened on the outside and literally ice cold and raw on the inside. The only person who offered any kind of acknowledgment for nearly giving my husband salmonella was the waiter but it wasn't his responsibility to apologize. My steak was cooked correctly but it was a very tough piece of meat. The price markup on the wine was OVER DOUBLE. Pretty sure our deserts were not made fresh.... They were awful. There was really no excuse for a bad experience... there were only a handful of customers. (Now we know why.) Very disappointing experience and we will not go back. I worked in the fine dining restaurant industry for decades... the main deck is very overpriced, very poorly run & desperately needs a new manager. The only positives were the waiter was good, and the risotto was very good. This place has potential with competent management & kitchen staff. We will not be back. *review copied from my Open Table review.

As such I am past the point in my life where I will ever be somebody's husband, but I'm more than happy to be someone's dude. An aside: don't listen to your douchy Manhattan cousin who says the Finger Lakes "aren't quite a destination" - these lakes are legit. Anyways, it's lovely up here. Now my new lady also takes care of her oldest's six year-old during the summer so he's up here too and is a wily cat, mad obsessed with that Italian Brain Rot bag right now, and...well, let me just tell you... So we're just walking in downtown Penn Yan apropos of nothing, and there's this joint with a leprechaun on the wall called Silverbird. We all walk in not expecting anything, and holy heck this place looked like a 1970s time warp inside. But the staff was nice and the grub was decent, and what really made this a hit was the totally random vintage arcade inside. For just a few quarters you can play skeeball, bowling, and baseball pin ball until your heart's content. And hand to god, the kid didn't make one single reference to Italian Brain Rot the entire time we were there. Thank you, Silverbird. From the bottom of my bitter yet vintage arcade loving heart.
