Pigs on the Lay w/ Root Veggies dish in the top corner

My Ma and I came to little ole diner because a family friend recommended it and we also thought it be nice to come support a small business. The atmosphere for this restaurant is cozy and quirky like with a nice mix of modern to classics music. Seating for the most part consists of 2 or 4 people and a table that could seat a group of 6. Our waitress seemed very nice and attentive, however, it took her a good 30 minutes after seating us to take our orders after taking everyone else's orders and drinks that just walked into the door. Sure the wait would be understandable if it was full or busy to begin with, but there were only a few people about 4 in their previously. It also become apparent that we weren't being treated as fairly as the other customers mainly due to our color. Although, we turned a blind eye and try to make up "coincidental" excuses of why we figured she wasn't serving us yet to pass the time. We both shared a dish called Root Veggies Home-Fries that for the most part wasn't all that bad, even though we both just love our veggies. I ordered a dish called Pigs on the Lay, which was suppose to be wedged potatoes covered in cheese of your choosing topped with scallions and smoked bacon. When it was served to me there were tons of more scallions than bacon ratio and little to no cheese was present. After attempting to eat what was on my plate I found it to have little to no flavor it was pretty plain and the flavor from their smoked bacon was the only thing keeping me to continually eating. After the bacon was gone I stop attempting the rest because it was just too plain and honestly looked better than it tasted. As for my Ma she ordered the California French Toast, which was described to be 3 cinnamon-raisin bread topped w/granola, bananas, sunflower seeds, and drizzle vanilla yogurt. When my Ma got her food served to her she wasn't offered any syrup. She had to wait for a good 5 minutes as her food got cold to get the attention of the waitress to ask for syrup. They have selections from Maple Syrup to Regular Syrup as we saw from the menu and over heard as she offered it to other customers with the same dish. The waitress didn't ask what we preferred when my Ma asked for some. She then just placed it abruptly in between us and shuffled to the next people without another word. My Ma dug into her food and wasn't as impressed either which came to me as no surprise with my own experience. Her French Toast was soggy and also had no flavor as well, which to me is surprising considering a cinnamon-raisin bread can give off a sweet flavor. Even with the syrup it didn't save the dish. After all the troubles and disappointments we experienced here we still decided to give a tip, even though it wasn't well deserved. In short, the food and service was very unwelcoming. I can sadly say with confidence that we won't be coming back here again.

Trying to keep it somewhat real/credible with only four stars. If you haven't been here since before spring of 2018, you owe this place a visit. It's not just the typical Mom & Pop small town diner anymore. Interesting menu that has just the conventional stuff if you want it (or your SO- wink wink), but also some tasty variations, all made with lots of locally-procured ingredients. I live nearby and have tried it 8-10 times since last fall and never been disappointed in the food. Try the "Love Taco" appetizer. Wow.

Excellent service, delicious coffee and delicious fresh breakfast food! Everything was fresh, cooked perfectly and flavorful. Staff was so sweet and kept your coffee hot. Very recommended

Great locally sourced foods in a small diner atmosphere. My hamburger with mushrooms, fried onions and Swiss cheese on a soft roll was exceptional! It was served with delicious hand cut fries and a basket with a variety of sauces. Service was timely and friendly. I will again make a detour to visit this establishment when I return to the area!!

This is a Finger Lakes MUST. We had the blueberry pancakes, the strata bake, and the grits and chorizo bowl (photo attached!) Everything we ate was incredible. The pancakes were fluffy and light, there was even the perfect amount of blueberries, which tasted like they must have been fresh. The strata bake was fantastic especially with the local hot sauce they provided along with a basket full of hot sauce options! Lastly, the grits and chorizo bowl was my personal favorite. It was topped with a beautifully poached egg, fresh cilantro, and tomatillo sauce. On top of the amazing food, the service was wonderful!! Our waitress, Amy, was the sweetest lady ever. If I could give 6 stars I would!

    Their andouille sausage is phenomenal!

This place is a hidden gem, and I was surprised that they had only 6 reviews. A lot of their many is locally sourced or made in house. The blueberry pancakes were light and fluffy, top 5 in my opinion. The homemade whole wheat toast, and jam was phenomenal. Also make sure to try the breakfast meats which are also locally sourced!
