Pulled pork sandwich with french fries

My family and I went to the Waterloo outlets and were looking for a place to eat. I found this place in google maps it had pretty good reviews and Redmans did not disappoint. Hardy portions, super friendly staff. A real southern feel to the hospitality provided. The best restaurant fried chicken i have had in upstate NY so far. Everything was homemade down to the cornbread muffins. I would highly recommend this place if your in the area.

Visiting the local college with my daughter. While she was having her tour and interview, I decided to check Yelp for a good local place for lunch. You guys guided me here and I am very thankful! What a find!!! I pulled into an empty parking lot and almost left until I saw a man who started walking towards me. I thought he was going to tell me the restaurant was closed. Instead he put his hand out and said, "Hi, I'm Redman!". It was the owner and he led me inside explaining that they were closing next week for the season but definitely were still serving. He and his wife might be some of the nicest people I have ever met. They were so friendly and welcoming. He recommended the pulled pork sandwich and a side of macaroni salad. While his staff made the meal he and I chatted about family, plans for the restaurant, etc. He was right on about the food.... it was some of the best pulled pork I've had. The fried chicken sounds amazing also and I can't wait to come back and try it. The building is unassuming and easy to pass on by but PLEASE stop in!! These are good people making really good food!!!

Friendly staff and quick service. I had 1/2 friend chicken meal that came with three pieces of your choice, two sides and cornmeal muffin. I chose a drumstick and two breasts with sweet potato fries and Mac n' cheese. Chickens were good as they were piping hot, crispy and juicy. Sweet potatoes were crispy. mac n' cheese were little too greasy and thick for me and cornmeal muffin was dry and seemed from frozen package. Overall, I'd be back for cheap and quick meal if I'm back in the town.

Wanted so badly to like this place as I've heard a lot of good things about it. Unfortunately, the food was completely flavorless and uninspired. The chicken was just thrown in the fryer out of the fridge, no seasoning or breading at all. The Mac and cheese was very runny and mostly water. Overall not a great experience but I'd be willing to try it again because of how many good things I've heard.

We had a decent experience here. My husband got the pulled pork which had cheese on it, collard greens (seasoned nicely), crinkle cut fries, and corn bread...it was nicely placed on the plate. He loved his meal! I got a three piece fried chicken, and it is fried fresh not frozen so they let you know that it takes 20 min. to cook. I decided on just drum sticks which were really good and seasoned well. I also got the collard greens and Mac and cheese. I did not like The Mac and cheese, it was watery and lifeless. I did not care for the corn bread, it was somewhat dry. He liked it. They were selling the sweet potato pie pretty hard so we also got a piece of sweet potato pie to go. I was sad to see that it was not a homemade piece for the price. However, I will say the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I would go back for another meal. I appreciate the friendliness of the staff.

Two massive pieces of the most delicious fried chicken under this huge piece of perfect fried catfish.

It was a road trip to Seneca Falls, NY with a stop off in Geneva, NY. Checked out the restaurants in the down area of Geneva and none were a stand out so I looked a little bit out of the down area and discovered Redman's Chicken n' Ribs and boy was I glad. The BEST fried chicken and catfish I have had in years! The ribs were excellent also. The food was a five for sure. The customer service was warm and welcoming. I had a great conversation with the owner who was delightful. We live a fair distance away from Geneva but we will be stopping at Redman's Chicken every time we are in Geneva.

2 ribs, 2 sides (I got mac n cheese and collard greens). Pulled port sandwich with onion rings in the background.

After trying the ribs, I really want to try the fried chicken. Thank you to previous Yelpers for helping me find this place. Now I'm looking forward to my next trip to the area so I can try mor things on the menu. The ribs are enormous and delicious, as was the Mac and cheese. The collard greens had a little kick. If you want a down home rib and chicken joint than I doubt you'll be disappointed.

    Red Mans combo platter!

The hubby heard good things about Red Man's from the guys at work and we dropped in on a Saturday evening. We both got the ribs n chicken combo. When I asked hubby what to say on this review he said "mac n cheese is real good, chicken is real good, collards are real good, corn breads real good!" He may not have a great collection of describing words in his repertoire but the man does know great food. I want to add that the fried chicken is fried fresh. So it's piping hot and scrumptious. The collard greens have a lil bit of heat just right and the spare ribs are falling off the bone and have a great flavor. No baby ray smothered crap here, I can't tell how they cook them but they are tasty. Prices aren't bad and there is plenty on the plate. I want to go back for the catfish and pie.

We've wanted to try this place for years, but it's never occurred to us during a Friday or…read moreSaturday, which are the only days they're open. Last Friday was one of those days we knew we needed to order out, but we were well on track to make a whole evening out of fretting over where to go. I don't know what it is, but sometimes absolutely nothing in the world sounds good. By some act of god, I remembered this place and our evening was saved. Their menu changes weekly, so we referred to their Facebook page for this week's options. I've only heard great things about them, so I had no question whatever we ordered would be good. No prices on their website, and money was definitely an issue on the eve of the St. Patrick's Day Parade, so we made kind of a flow chart in case pricing got crazy. Placing the order over the phone was difficult. They couldn't understand us, and they had to run every question by somebody else and get back to us. We ordered the jerk chicken and smothered pork combos, then threw in a pint of shrimp fried rice. I wish I could have tried everything; it was really tough coming to a decision. Cash only. I read so many reviews and everything they had online and didn't see this mentioned. Luckily I had just hit the ATM for the parade. The place is pretty small, take-out only. Easy parking, easy in and out. Everyone's super friendly. A lot of the appeal is how clearly they take pride in what they do. All around it just seems incredibly authentic and like nobody's cutting corners. So the food was great all around. We'd eaten garbage all week and were really going for that fresh, wholesome feeling, and they delivered in every way. The only hiccup was that they gave us Smothered Chicken (I think) instead of Smothered Pork. They labeled the box SP, but put the wrong thing in it. I was disappointed to see it because the pork was the first thing I knew for sure I wanted to get. Six seconds into the meal though, I truly didn't even care anymore. It was absolutely amazing. So tender it came right off the bone. It has to be the best I've ever felt about a chicken thigh entrée. I've only tried Jerk Chicken a few times, and mostly from a few Jamaican restaurants right here in town. I never really understood the point of it, like the taste just never amounted to anything I cared about. One bite of this one and it all made sense. Like, I now understand what they're going for with the flavor. Same perfectly tender chicken, and we absolutely loved the taste of both. We were curious about how the Shrimp Fried Rice would shake out with soul food, and it's definitely unique from Chinese takeout. Nowhere near as greasy, and it had a more savory, mildly smoky taste to it. No conflict with the beds of rice our entrées came on either. This wasn't our favorite fried rice, but it was good to have with our meals. My favorite side was the baked beans. Perfect texture, amazing taste. So soft and yet, so completely distinct. Didn't even know I could enjoy plain no-frills baked beans this much. The collard greens and yams were about average. I think for yams I'm used to a lot more butter and sugar than these ones had. Collard greens were just straightforward as well, no taste outside the greens themselves. Texture couldn't have been better though. Mac and cheese was good, but well past al dente. Super soft and didn't really pack enough flavor to make it top tier. The cornbread is standard issue - really soft and pretty dry with just the regular cornbread taste. I'd love to try some of the other things on the menu, but probably wouldn't for the price. There's nothing here I wouldn't be absolutely excited to have, but the experience wasn't profound enough to pull us back for $25 a plate.

I saw that Miss Prissy's offers a half roasted chicken so I inquired about it (I believe it was called grannie's plate). The lady working at the counter was so kind and patient. I was surprised that the candied yams and green beans didn't contain dairy or ham (there's turkey in the green beans). Chicken was juicy and just fell off the bone. Candied yams and green beans were well seasoned, like a big hug in food form. It was also a ton of food for the price. I did see several things were sold out. Based on the reviews, it looks like their menu must change often. We pretty much cleared the whole thing with our order, and I'd be excited to reroll on the next one. We got the haddock meal, the rosemary chicken meal, and an order of the wings, along with all the sides included. Mac & Cheese, Collard Greens, Yams. I thought the meal sounded pretty plain when I looked over the order, but we were just excited to eat a well-cooked meal we didn't have to make ourselves. The rosemary chicken ended up being my favorite part. So melt in your mouth tender, while the skin was snappy and crisp. The haddock was pretty much standard issue, same breading and texture you'd expect from a fish fry anywhere you go. We got three squeeze packets of tartar sauce we weren't expecting to like, but it was fine. The fish wasn't really a memorable part of the meal, but always a welcome addition. The wings were golden brown, the exact texture you want in great quality breaded wings. They were very flavorful, with a sweet and tangy sauce. The sauce is buttery, which helps it carry the flavor, but also turns into sludge if it gets cold. I wish they came with a dipping sauce - I think even a good ranch would have brought them home. I'm doing my best not to just say "melt in your mouth" a thousand times in this review, but it came up a lot while we ate this meal. The chicken, the mac and cheese, the freaking yams. My first impression of the mac and cheese was that pasta should never be this soft, especially in something that is baked. Then I tried it, and it's perfect. Super soft while retaining the pasta texture, but with a blast of creamy cheese in every bite. The yams -- again, my language is falling short so I'm just going to say it. The yams melt straight in your mouth in the best way possible. I hope they are always on the menu. These are kind of express restaurants at Salt City, so I get why their menu is so small. Going through the photos and reviews online make me sad I didn't come here sooner, but also excited to return later and see what else they have. With the quality of this meal, I have very high expectations for whatever they do next.

I finally went in about a month or so ago and I haven't been back, nor do I have the desire to go back. Things were disappointing right off the bat. I found a website where it said they had fried chicken. I saw the menu and didn't see fried chicken on it, so I asked about it and then they pointed to the part of the menu that said "fried wings". I passed and went with the jerk chicken instead. the flavor of it was good but it was pretty dry. they were out of the 2 sides I wanted too (rasta pasta and potato salad), so I went with the dirty rice and mac salad. the dirty rice was ok but the mac salad seemed like it might not have been homemade, and I think it had tuna in it, which I hate. I also ordered the ribs. I was disappointed to see that they were beef ribs instead of pork, and the ribs had barely any meat on them. then to add insult to injury they only gave me 2 ribs in the order! the flavor was decent but the sauce they used was an asian style chilli sauce, which a lot of restaurants have as a "sweet and spicy" sauce. it's a good sauce but not homemade. the onion rings were weak too, they were a brand you can buy at the weis and pop in your oven at home. the mac n cheese was decent, same style as jrama's but actually a little better. The thing that upset me most was the price. The menu said "all meals $10 and up". There was another part that gave prices for extra sides, so I assumed the "and up" part meant extra sides would cost more money. Well that's not what they meant. I thought the 2 meals were gunna cost $20. They ended up being $29. what kind of place doesn't list their actual places on the menu?! what a joke! I felt swindled even before I tried the lackluster underportioned food! The inside is nothing nice either. even though the building is a good size the front dining room is tiny, there's a counter where you order and then like 2 small tables. If the food was good I'd recommend doing take out instead of dining in, but since the food was a rip off I'd suggest avoiding this place altogether.
