Redman himself greeted us at the truck when we pulled in. Such a nice man. Everyone we met was very kind. The fried chicken was great. Very large pieces. Had plenty to take home! Mac n cheese had a really nice flavor to it. The surprise hit for me was the rice with gravy. I could eat that on the daily! Lots of seating. The place was clean. There ain't nothing bad about this place. It is off the beaten path a bit but worth the time and stop. We are from out of town on a girls weekend and wanted a good dinner. Redman had good ratings so we thought we'd try. We got 4 chicken dinners. They come with drum, wing, thigh and 2 sides. I got rice and gravy and French fries. Both good. Chicken was outstanding. No one complained or spoke we just all ate. It was delish! Seriously. Other sides were Mac and cheese, Mac salad and collards. All were delish as well. The place is pretty unassuming and you can pass it pretty easily. It's a large room and there are plenty of seats. The parking is fine and the service was top notch. My family and I went to the Waterloo outlets and were looking for a place to eat. I found this place in google maps it had pretty good reviews and Redmans did not disappoint. Hardy portions,super friendly staff. A real southern feel to the hospitality provided. The best restaurant fried chicken i have had in upstate NY so far. Visiting the local college with my daughter. While she was having her tour and interview, I decided to check Yelp for a good local place for lunch. You guys guided me here and I am very thankful! What a find!!! I pulled into an empty parking lot and almost left until I saw a man who started walking towards me. I thought he was going to tell me the restaurant was closed. Instead he put his hand out and said, "Hi, I'm Redman!". It was the owner and he led me inside explaining that they were closing next week for the season but definitely were still serving. He and his wife might be some of the nicest people I have ever met. They were so friendly and welcoming. He recommended the pulled pork sandwich and a side of macaroni salad. While his staff made the meal he and I chatted about family, plans for the restaurant, etc. He was right on about the food.... it was some of the best pulled pork I've had. The fried chicken sounds amazing also and I can't wait to come back and try it. The building is unassuming and easy to pass on by but PLEASE stop in!! Friendly staff and quick service. I had 1/2 friend chicken meal that came with three pieces of your choice, two sides and cornmeal muffin. I chose a drumstick and two breasts with sweet potato fries and Mac n' cheese. Chickens were good as they were piping hot, crispy and juicy. Sweet potatoes were crispy. mac n' cheese were little too greasy and thick for me and cornmeal muffin was dry and seemed from frozen package. Wanted so badly to like this place as I've heard a lot of good things about it. Unfortunately, the food was completely flavorless and uninspired. The chicken was just thrown in the fryer out of the fridge, no seasoning or breading at all. The Mac and cheese was very runny and mostly water. We had a decent experience here. My husband got the pulled pork which had cheese on it, collard greens (seasoned nicely), crinkle cut fries, and corn bread...it was nicely placed on the plate. He loved his meal! I got a three piece fried chicken, and it is fried fresh not frozen so they let you know that it takes 20 min. to cook. I decided on just drum sticks which were really good and seasoned well. I also got the collard greens and Mac and cheese. I did not like The Mac and cheese, it was watery and lifeless. I did not care for the corn bread, it was somewhat dry. He liked it. They were selling the sweet potato pie pretty hard so we also got a piece of sweet potato pie to go. I was sad to see that it was not a homemade piece for the price. However, I will say the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I would go back for another meal. It was a road trip to Seneca Falls, NY with a stop off in Geneva, NY. Checked out the restaurants in the down area of Geneva and none were a stand out so I looked a little bit out of the down area and discovered Redman's Chicken n' Ribs and boy was I glad. The BEST fried chicken and catfish I have had in years! The ribs were excellent also. The food was a five for sure. The customer service was warm and welcoming. I had a great conversation with the owner who was delightful. We live a fair distance away from Geneva but we will be stopping at Redman's Chicken every time we are in Geneva. read more

The fried chicken was some of the best chicken I've had in a while but the collard greens were not the best even after adding some hot sauce I couldn't finish the sides the Mac was a little better than the greens but that would be my first and last time trying that meal. The hubby heard good things about Red Man's from the guys at work and we dropped in on a Saturday evening. We both got the ribs n chicken combo. When I asked hubby what to say on this review he said "mac n cheese is real good, chicken is real good, collards are real good, corn breads real good!" He may not have a great collection of describing words in his repertoire but the man does know great food. I want to add that the fried chicken is fried fresh. So it's piping hot and scrumptious. The collard greens have a lil bit of heat just right and the spare ribs are falling off the bone and have a great flavor. No baby ray smothered crap here, I can't tell how they cook them but they are tasty. Prices aren't bad and there is plenty on the plate. I want to go back for the catfish and pie. read more

Completely disrespected and no hospitality at all. Spent $55 on three plates, I live 10 minutes away from the restaurant and when I get home the Mac salad and potato salad are both of warm. The corn bread is stale. And the worst part about everything that none of us could stomach was the fact that all of the sandwiches that we received all were soggy. I tried to stomach it but I could not. I decided in my best interest to give the owner a call, explaining that the food was very disappointing. Before I could get anything else in, I was interrupted very disrespectfully saying bring the food back. I then explained to them that I have a child to take care of at home and I couldn't come back at the moment. As I'm on the phone in shock that I'm being spoken to this way I respectfully asked for a refund and said no not until I get the food back and they were about to close.. so instead of any controversy going on between the two of us I held my tongue and hung up because at the end of the day I am not going to be spoken to this way.. i'm very disappointed in my experience and how everything turned out. What a great find! We stopped in here during our Finger Lakes vacation. We were immediately made to feel very welcome by the friendly owner. The restaurant seats maybe 45 people or so in a comfortably casual environment. The fried chicken may be some of the best we've ever had. If I could give the sides a two star, I would. They are kind of bland and need serious work. However... The chicken? Well the chicken is magic. No. The chicken is more than magic. Redman's chicken is life. So juicy yet so crispy. It's chicken that you can't believe it exists. It's chicken made by the Gods. It's chicken how God intended fried chicken to taste. When you go to Redman's, you go for the chicken. When you got Redman's, you go for God. Now, the couple that runs this joint are beautiful people but their mac and cheese and even collard greens aren't as good as the stuff I ate in the college cafeteria (Fisher had a renowned head chef so don't take that as an insult) was tastier than Redman's. But their chicken is why I come and that is why the world needs to know what Redman's is. The best place to get the best chicken in the world. Or at least in Western NY. Quite possibly the only soul food joint in at least a 30 mile radius if not more? I was surprised and skeptical when I drove past Redman's. The exterior is modest and the parking lot is basically a gravel area outside the front of the place that I doubt could fit more than a few cars. Looks like if you are getting a take-out order and want some of their fried chicken, calling ahead is the way to go. I ordered a chicken and rib combo so I could get a taste of what Redman's is working with. Got mac and cheese and greens as sides..tough decisions because I hear the mac salad is slammin. There is a decent size dining area here, but inside the kitchen it looked to be a 1 woman show so I suspect eating in would be a time consuming process. I thought the food was pretty good. The chicken wings I got were perfectly fried, moist, flavorful, you name it. The ribs were another story. A little too fatty, and Fred Flinstone sized, they were difficult to eat. I'm not so much a fan of fall of the bone tender ribs; half the fun in eating them is using your hands and these required a fork. Mac and cheese and greens were solid. We were greeted at the door like family and then led thru the available menu to help us decide what to order. I went with the combo fried chicken and spareribs with collards and Mac n cheese. We passed by this place a couple of times while being in town for a wedding. We decided to check this place out for lunch. I ordered the Combo Plate Platter that came with 2 ribs with the house special bbq sauce, 2 Chicken of your choice (I ordered the wings), a choice of 2 sides (we had macaroni and cheese, macaroni salad, collard greens, rice and gravy) and a cornbread muffin. My husband ordered the Fried Porkchop Dinner. I have a favorite ribs joint, so nothing even comes close; this place is a wet style, and it was juicy and tender, but it wasn't for me. I did enjoy the chicken wings (they took 20 minutes to make; you can call ahead if you're in a rush; they make it fresh to order) - they were fried and was good with the hot sauce; the porkchop was deep-fried and was thick-cut - this was actually pretty good, and probably one of my favorites from the meal; from all the sides, I enjoyed the macaroni salad as it was creamy, and the gravy that was on the rice. My suggestions on what to order would be the chicken wings and the porkchop. A great history where the place used to be a shack; the owner and his friend then lovingly built the restaurant. The rule of thumb for BBQ joints is if the place looks like a dumb/shack then the chances are the place has amazing food. Redman's fits the parameter. For western NY, this BBQ joint does a decent job. I have had BBQ in KC, Oklahoma and Houston and Redman's Chicken and Ribs is just a step shy. The combo platter, consisting of chicken and ribs is the way to go. The crispy chicken skin slurps right off and the seasoned rib meat detaches from the bone effortlessly. The location on Pre-emption Road is on the outskirts of Geneva but it's a small enough town allowing it to be a few minutes drive from basically anywhere (5 minutes from Hobart's campus). It is obvious the owner is also the head chef. He does a great job and has totally built this place from the ground up. Tip of my hat to that dude. The cornbread muffins given with every meal is always the cherry on top. If you want something new or different, try Redman's. read more
