It wasn't bad. It just was not good. I get the concept, but I don't think it's for me. First off, the drinks. We each got one at the bar while waiting for our table. I enjoyed mine, but my dining companion's (the Saturn) tasted like straight juice. With dinner, I wanted to get a draft beer and was able to sample the two IPAs. While one was tasty, I didn't order one because the beer was lukewarm. I got a burger, and companion got the black cod. The burger is $32 and a full pound and served with a heap of fries. For the price, less than impressed. The overly thick patty was just too much. It was dry and just not for me. I would rather have two well-seasoned and juicy thinner patties. The fries and sauce were good. But not $32 worth of good. The cod itself was decent but it came in a sauce that was cold and odd tasting. Ambiance is fine. It was loud and crowded, but clean. The second you walk into Good Luck you can feel the good vibes. We made a reservation for two and were seated immediately upon arrival. I loved that there's a free coat check, it was very helpful due to the rainy weather. The menu may seem short, but we wanted to try every item. We ended up trying the Ox tail ragout which was so rich and decadent and full of flavor. The bread was an excellent mode of delivery. The Burger was HUGE. Definitely made to share. Nice variety of large shared plates! All orders are family style ! You've come here several times! Although it is probably on the pricey side, most of the dishes are very tasty - especially the large burger and fries! We always order the burger and fries that's been cut into fourth and the wonderful fries, the kale, Caesar salad, hummus chicken. Alright I have now been to good luck twice. The first time I was very disappointed with my pasta dish because the portion was extremely small and they advertise that meals are family style. I decided to give it another chance, and I came back to get what they're known for, the burger. So as soon as they placed the burger on our table, we saw that the fries were completely burnt. They tasted totally burnt, they were just not good at all. And my friend was telling me how they are usually really good so I was really disappointed but we didnt want to be the jerks who sent something back. So my friend finally mustered up the courage to tell the guy that our fries were very burnt and didn't taste good - and the guy said "yeah I actually felt really bad giving you guys those fries, I can get you a new side of them" We were totally baffled. You knew that you placed totally burnt, basically edible fries on our table?! I'm sorry I just feel like that's totally unacceptable, especially for the prices that they charge here. The ambience is amazing. I will give it that. But the service is just really hit or miss I guess. Our waiter was really nice and the hostesses are super friendly. Food is all made "family style" which means any entree you get is made to share among the table (big entrees). You HAVE to get the Good Luck Burger. Excellent ambiance and stellar service from a fast-moving staff that helps each other out. My waitress, Kimberly was very kind and helpful, and her assistant, Peter was absolutely fantastic. I had the shiitake mushroom and crab dish, which was wonderful. My favorite part was their "Violently Citrus" drink, which was tart and floral. A very unique blend that was refreshing. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and this is where my boyfriend and I went for our anniversary dinner. We had reservations for 9pm, but were seated at around 9:30pm. The place was bumping. It seems like this is the IT spot. We ordered a bottle of wine, and our server knew it was our anniversary and gave us each a glass of champagne to celebrate. Our server was great and accommodating. I enjoyed JJ (I'm pretty sure that it his name). We started with the octopus carpacchio and corn nuts. They were both fantastic. The octopus was amazing. I am so disappointed for Alex a strong business owner. Passion has obviously has been lost on his staff. Check # 355 on December 4th at 4:24 . Because she didn't give us her name on the receipt. I just left from having surgery and stopped for my first meal of the day. Not only did the app. Salad and entree come out within 5 minutes of each other. When I asked for her to box my meal because my hand was in cast she said , " my boss won't let us" that it's a health code violation. Keeping in mind there were only 4 customers in the restaurant. I paid the bill still left a tip because I work in the industry but absolutely so sad that for how hard Alex has worked the staff isn't keeping true to his legacy.
