Food was amazing. Best cornbread I've ever had. The wait was very long- would recommend coming before the rush and having one person wait in line while everyone else gets drinks or hangs out in the back! The drinks are strong :) Cool games and animals walking around.
Visited here during a wine trail weekend visit, a nice casual vibe with great food and ample portions. Service was quick. We did takeout. We enjoyed it so much, we stopped by again on our way home. The places at 11:30am everyday, we arrived at 11:45, there was already a line.
Smokin' Pete's is the perfect lunch stop on the wine tour along Seneca Lake. But we weren't the only ones who thought so -- the place was busy. They have plenty of seating both inside and outside, with a cozy bar feeling. Still, we didn't have a long wait to place our order. Not a huge selection for non-meat eaters, admittedly -- but just ask for a grilled cheese, they'll make it, and the side salads are delicious. Be better a Bills fan - Go Bills.
I don't even know where to begin, this place was excellent. When planning our trip to Seneca Lake, Smoking Petes was the one restaurant that came up time and time again. It's a fan favorite on Reddit, and our hotel recommended the restaurant as well. When you drive past, there's always a parking lot full of cars for good reason. When you enter Smokin Petes, you place your order and they give you a pager. You can sit at the bar, there's plenty of indoor seating, but I definitely recommend taking advantage of their outdoor seating if the weather permits. Just based on the vibes indoors and out, you know you're in for a treat. Considering it was a Friday, the line to order and amount of cars coming in and out of the lot, our food was ready surprisingly quickly. For a starter we order wings in Alabama white. For our entrees we ordered their two meat combos, both opting for their brisket and ribs. For our sides we tried their mac & cheese, coleslaw, tater tots & garlic parmesan salt potatoes. Everything was excellent. The meat was cooked to perfection - the seasoning. On the ribs had a nice kick. The sides were fresh and definitely not diet friendly. The portions were decent, and we ended up taking home leftovers that made their way back to Long Island. By far one of the best, casual, places I've gone to eat.

There is a large chalkboard menu, laminated menus, and their website seemed up to date. We ate outside but they had a lot of indoor seating as well. The food was delicious. My only critiques are the mac n cheese was subpar and the wings very small especially for the price. But regardless we nearly ate it all and ate our leftovers immediately the next day. The mild bbq and honey mustard bbq were delicious, the hot was HOT! We would definitely return
Now here's where you go for bbq! Delicious bbq in a quaint clean bbq joint. Great vibe. Order and your buzzer goes off to get your self serve food. Large portions. Turkey breast so moist. Ribs are amazing...some of the best we've had. We are looking forward to many return trips to Smokin Petes. Plenty of off street parking.
Went on a Thursday night and the line was out the door. They ran out of the specials so decided to order the portobello mushroom with no cheese and the corn. The mushroom came smothered in cheese and the corn was cold and chewy. The ribs were very fatty and not as much meat as I would have expected. The elderberry spritzer was very good. Unfortunately the outdoor area had stein odors of garbage and the wind was carrying the Porto potty smells out way. Inside was dark, crowded, and loud. First experience not great, I will it another shot.
The best bbq I've ever had, and I've had a lot of bbq. I got the 2 meat combo, which comes with 2 sides and cornbread. The cornbread was a giant slice, moist with delicious honey butter slathered on top. Ribs were very meaty with a great char, not too much fat. Pulled pork was delicious and not much fat. Mac salad was super creamy and the perfect texture. Tator tots were super crispy with a tasty dry rub dust. Help yourself station with 3 choices of sauce and little cups. All were tasty. I also ordered a side of white Alabama sauce, it was so delicious. Plenty of seating inside and a ton of varied seating outside with a lot of shade from sun. We almost left when we saw the long line out the door, so glad we stuck it out. We waited about 30 minutes just to order. Then the sign said "45 minutes to get your food after you order". Thankfully ours came in 20 minutes. Worth the wait if it took longer though. I would go back frequently if it wasn't a full hour from my house, but I'm already dreaming of going back. Leftovers heated up perfectly the next day. (Full disclosure, I ordered some pork hash rice and it was so gross. It reminded me of dog food. My husband ate it though, and liked it, so I can't judge.) I love you, Smokin' Pete's.
After a day of business in Geneva, I decided to stop at Smokin Pete's Barbecue before heading back to Rochester, and I'm genuinely glad I did. I ordered the 3-meat special, which included 1/2 chicken, sliced brisket, and ribs, along with potato salad and macaroni & cheese. Simply put, everything on the tray was delicious. The brisket was tender with a beautiful smoke ring and just the right balance of bark and moisture. The ribs were flavorful and cooked perfectly, not falling apart but clearly smoked with care. The chicken was juicy, well-seasoned, and held its own alongside the other meats. Both sides complemented the meal nicely, the potato salad was creamy and comforting, and the mac and cheese was rich and satisfying. Beyond the food, the space itself is large, open, and welcoming, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. A special shout-out to our waitress, who is a teacher during the day, she was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making me feel like a regular even though it was my first visit. From the quality of the food to the friendliness of the service, the entire experience was consistently positive. Smokin Pete's is the kind of place you're happy you discovered, and one you look forward to returning to. I'll absolutely be back the next time I'm in the area. Omg the food was amazing. The brisket is to die for...so was the corn bread with honey butter...I bravely ate this before the Ella Langley concert and had no regrets. I'm eating my leftovers as I type. Can't wait to go back!!!
Great place to stop at if you're driving down the finger lakes or wine tasting in the area. A plate comes with a substantial amount of food, we shared amongst five of us for three meats and two sides. The sweet tea is absolutely delicious. While this isn't KC BBQ, the food is still worth the try and well worth the price
Food is all so wonderful, corn bread tender and just the right flavor, pulled pork is tender and delicious along with the Turkey, sausage, ribs, chicken, brisket, my all time Favorite. The kids tried broccoli salad had a nice flavor but I had mostly the hard parts and not much the flurets. Mac and cheese was good, salt potatoes are assume. My husband liked the slaw, thou he likes it with pineapple. He was not overly thrilled with mac salad. Drinks I tried were the blueberry smash. Very tasty. Not that thrilled with the peach drink that was 25 dollars. But I drank it. Tastes more like a Ice tea drink. Service is good. They take your order at the bar with a designated area to wait in line. Give you a buzzer to pick it up at the window. They have a condiment area to get soda, utensils, sauce sides and so on. They have seating inside and out side. You can play with games they have set up. Inside it decorated with old and new signage. They have a book of bourbon selection. Bar stools chairs and tables,booths and high top tables. People clean up after themselves. Kid friendly. People are friendly. Most of the times we went they were busy or at least a steady flow of customers. If you get a chance to stop here to eat you will not ve disappointed!!
I have eaten KC, Memphis, St. Louis and Carolina BBQ. My Great Uncle and My Grandfather had a BBQ stand in Tennessee. This is by far the BEST BBQ I have eaten. The line is long to get to order, but it is worth the wait. It is a perfect decor for quality BBQ restaurants, it is what you think of when you want the best BBQ. You want fancy, go elsewhere and let people who know quality get this deliciousness. I will travel back to the finger lakes just to eat here again.

I know I'll be in the minority here and that's fine. I don't care lol. I went to this place a couple years ago bc my friends absolutely raved about it and holy shit! It was amazing. I never eat pulled pork...ok maybe (and this legitimately) like once a year and that's if I'm at some reception and it's an option, I go to NY and my friends wanna go here. Other than that, I'll never be like "mmm omg! I'm so in the mood for a pulled pork sandwich tonight! LETSSSS! GO!" That has never happened lol. Pulled pork is so good .. TASTY as in good! Good for you? Duh, who doesn't know it's so bad for you haha! That's why once a year is good for me. So we went to Pete's a last month (August 1st 2026 to be exact). I was pretty excited bc of my first time being there. This time...yeah, let's just say I don't care to ever do again. I ordered the same pulled pork sandwich and 2 sides of Mac n cheese bc Mac n cheese at places like this...next level shit. Wasn't this time tho. It was like ... old and not even hot. Was a major letdown. The pork..:was just a scoop plopped on my tray. No bun was given to me. I needed two if I'm being honest. I was like "oh, don't I get a roll or something?" The girl behind the counter look so irritated when I asked. So, lemme get this right...you order the pulled pork SANDWICH and they give a big scoop on a tray and just expect what...you eat it with your hands or a fork? Sure, some prob do that but again...I ordered the... sandwich. Sandwiches always come with/on a roll? Correct? Or 2 slices of bread? I legit ordered the exact same thing as last time. Last time a roll was provided. Hell, the sandwich was made. Now, this place is INSANELY popular. Most bbq places are when done right. My friend and her man are regulars here. They swear by it. I didn't have the heart this time to tell them that I absolutely hated it. The way the cook looked at me when I asked for a roll..:I'll never forget that. It's almost like she was about to say "yeah, $3 more for the roll" even tho I GUARANTEE the roll is a Wegmans brand hamburger roll and if anything should I dunno....be included when you order...that's right...A SANDWICH. That brings me to the cost. The sandwich and Mac n cheese cost ... $30!! THIRTY. DOLLARS!! And it wasn't even a sandwich until I MADE IT hahaha! THIRTY! DOLLARS! Not sure if the cashier made a mistake bc the prices were the same pretty much as last time and it was $18 last time. Even if prices have gone up (like most places) a $12 increase for the same thing in that short period of time... asinine. I seriously could have gone to the restaurant at Belhurst and gotten a meal that I actually ordered or literally any other restaurant haha. Not sure if the popularity of this place has officially ruined it (at least for me), but a lot of times when restaurants blow up the way this place has...they tend to change and not for the better. They get comfortable and get away with all kinds of shit. It's unfortunate bc I know the next time I'm in town, they'll all wanna go here and I'll go but I'll just order a drink. Probably cost me $8 just for the actual soda and $3 for the tiny cups they give you hahaha. Aside from that ride cook, the staff is actually pretty friendly. So they do have that going for them. Anyone who has been, knows this place is insanely busy and busy all the time. We waited in line, out the door for 30 mins. IMHO, after this latest visit, it's so not worth the wait and you have to DRIVE way out. So the drive, the lines, the cost, and the scoop of meat on a tray...seriously, find another place. I know this review won't change many minds and that's fine. You either really love this place, feel meh about it, or hate it. I'm kinda in between meh and hate even tho hate is a strong word. I just don't see the need for me to ever drive all the way out there again, wait in a long ass like, spend $30+ for a sandwich etc etc when there are so many other options in Geneva and along the road leading out to Pete's. Again, I'm fully aware this review will like have zero impact. I'm just giving my two cents bc I was so excited to finally go back just to leave disappointed. Ok. That's it! Oh! One last thing, the restaurant itself is cool. Bar/restaurant setup is pretty awesome. The "backyard"/patio is great for the summer/warmer months. They close at like 9 which is wild. Backyard too..like zero lighting. So when that sun starts to go down...get out your phones and turn them flashlights on bc it's dark...at least it was when I was there last. The food was amazing!! My corn was kinda cold but flavorful. The mac and cheese was some of the best I have had of course the meat was fantastic. I had a combo with ribs, brisket and sausage. The service was great. We had never been here before the bar tender took the time to explain everything and all the options with acting like it was an inconvenience. I finally got to try Smokin Pete's! Delicious BBQ with a wide variety of sauces. Clean and comfortable inside with fun decorations. Versatile and expansive outdoor area. The service was very friendly and fast (around 2pm on a weekday), although I have heard there can be a wait if you go at a busy time. Brisket and ribs were falling apart, the beans were pretty good, the broccoli salad was perfect to lighten up the meal. We also got tots on the side and the bartender recommended Alabama white bbq sauce to go with them - the combo did not disappoint! I had a bourbon drink as well which was delicious and, in my opinion, similarly priced to other alcoholic beverages in the area. I hope to go back very soon! read more
Smokin' Pete's is a great spot for American BBQ, and our European guests really enjoyed it. It's a bit pricey, and I wish the portions were a bit larger. In hindsight, it would've been smarter (and probably a better value) for our group to order one of the larger platters to share, rather than getting several small combos. You order food at the counter and drinks at the bar. Plenty of seats indoors. We ordered the Kashong Cowboy Smash Burger ($22), Chopped Brisket Sandwich ($18), and the 2-Meat Combo Plate ($25), which includes two sides and cornbread. We picked sliced brisket, pulled pork, tater tots, and campfire beans. The brisket was the best! Super tender, flavorful, and had that melt-in-your-mouth quality. The campfire beans were also a hit. But I love BBQ beans. Pulled pork was also solid. The cornbread was fine but a little too plain; it could use more butter or moisture. The tater tots were too crunchy (dry). We ordered a 1/4 lb of turkey since there's no kid's menu and that was devoured easily. All meats are available by weight (¼ lb, 1/2 lb, etc.), if you want to order it this way. They offer a few different condiments (OG BBQ, Hot BBQ, Honey Mustard BBQ, and Ketchup), but the OG BBQ was the only one I liked. The honey mustard BBQ was too heavy on the mustard and didn't balance well. The vibe inside is awesome. Big Bills fan energy, with dollar bills hanging from the ceiling and tons of football memorabilia throughout the space. It's got a lot of character and makes for a fun, casual dining experience. read more
The food at Smokin' Pete's was fantastic! We came right at dinner time, around 5:30, and the line was long. We waited about 15 minutes to order. After we ordered, we got a table right away. The place was packed but it was a nice night so there were tables inside and tables outside around fire pits and fire tables. The ambience was awesome. Their tap list was great too. I always appreciate a tap list with local beers. Sauces and drinks were self serve so we were able to wash down the spicy sauce with as much soda as possible. It wasn't cheap but prices were average for barbecued meats. We will definitely return! read more

Where has this place all my life? We were on a drive and took a different route. Driving past this cute joint, we decided to make a u-turn and so glad we did. You walk in the place and the BBQ smell wafts right through your brains, enticing as hell. Making it our go-to BBQ! Very important too - great, kind service! Laid back spot where you can sit outside, even with your dog. We will make this a new regular!! read more

This was our fourth trip to the establishment. So after four times trying this BBQ spot, I can safely say... it's great! The atmosphere is chill with a bar type feel. The service is pretty decent considering how busy they are, and the food is pretty good! I have had BBQ from Terry Blacks in Austin, this is definitely a close second. The brisket is consistently delicious, the sides are tasty, the appetizers are great (get the tots with brisket). If you're looking for Texas BBQ in NY... run here, don't walk.... Run! read more

Prompt service and adorable BarBQ decor, from cute cowhide booth seating to a bar made of Pennie's. They also have Picnic seating in the back of the building. I had the maple bourbon bacon wings and they were deliciously perfect. They were very satisfying and so I saved the Portabella Swiss burger and smoked Gouda Mac n Cheese. They were equally delicious the next day. My friend enjoyed her two meat plate filled with chicken, ribs, beans and the salted potatoes. read more
Was there on Saturday afternoon because friends asked us to join them. It wasn't very welcoming but I gave it the stars because the wings were good. Tots were bland even though they said they were seasoned. Could have used some more carrot and celery sticks. It was a one time visit for me. read more
According to my foreigner friend, "This place has completed my authentic American experience." This was the best BBQ ever. We ordered the 3 meats combo: brisket, spare ribs, and pulled pork. We were extremely impressed with how juicy, flavorful, and tender the meats were. We loooved the cornbread and kale coleslaw. Again, both were the best we've ever had!! We were blown away. We were bummed that the dessert pies were sold out, even before 7pm! The staff is super friendly, recommended us different beers, and the atmosphere is spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating. It's a good place for small or big groups of people. Though it's far from where we live, we would definitely come back again. read more

We were staying on the lake for a week during the summer and we found smoke peas. Great food! Went inside to order takeout in the weight was not very long. Staff was nice when we went to the counter. Great place if you're looking for ambience as well! read more
