Chicken Florentine with Angel Hair Pasta on a Bed of Spinach
Kelly K.

A friend and I dined here last Friday night and the hotel is definitely in a "transitional phase". Hotel restaurants can be hit or miss. There was live entertainment, which was fantastic and Woody was our server. He was excellent, very attentive and lively. They only had bottled beers at the moment and I had a glad of wine, which I found pricey at just under $9/ glass. For dinner I ordered Chicken Florentine on a bed of spinach and angel hair pasta and my friend had the beer battered fish fry. The portions were plentiful and the flavors...incredible! I would definitely make the drive to dine here again. The ambiance was great, with a very full bar, restaurant and happy diners throughout. The wonderful music was an added bonus.

USDA INK STAMP?
Jessica J.

Nope! Atmosphere: Well, not much to look at. Simple. There are tv's and they played music at the time I was there. Very small dining room. Pretty straight forward. Order: I ordered a NY Strip steak and steamed broccoli, as well as cheesy garlic bread. Service: Good enough. Friendly. I believe we were waited on by Woody himself! Yumminess: Ok. This is where my 1 star comes into play. There were four of us dining and our order took quite awhile so we were brought a complimentary salad. Which I appreciated and it was good- minus the walnuts. I am allergic so I'm happy I saw them and picked out before I took a bite. The cheesy garlic bread was VERY good and the marinara is came with complimented it nicely. So far so good right? Then came my steak and broccoli. Broccoli was room temp and unseasoned. Whatever. It's broccoli. Ate some. **shrug** Cut into my steak that I ordered medium. It was medium well. No worries. Took a bite and it was....ok. Nothing to write home about. Needed salt, pepper and I added some A1. About the 4th slice in, I notice a bright turquoise color in the meat. Ummmmm..yeaaaa...nope. DONE! Called Woody over and he tells me its the USDA ink. Ok but I don't want to see it as it should've cooked off and that's in the MEAT not just the fat. It's also not letters. Anyways, he takes it making excuses but saying he's not making excuses. Then 5 minutes later, he comes out with not one but TWO cell phones in which he had googled "USDA Meat Stamps". Proceeds to say "See!" Trying to explain to me that it's not mold, its a stamp. That's fine but I explained I didn't want it and I was finished with my meal. I would've paid for it but I just was done and I was ready to go. CHECK PLEASE! He did remove from my bill but instead of excuses (and the cell phones), he could've simple said, "Oh I'm so sorry. I'll take this away. Is there anything else I can get for you?" But no, I got cell phones and stories about stamps. Sigh... It was a pass-by stop because I was headed home from the State Fair and had hungry kids so I'll never be back. It was just really disappointing. Bottom Line: The salad and appetizers were good. Kids got calamari also and that was decent. Entrees all around were bland and needed seasoning. Won't be back. Ever.

The ribs were cooked to perfection! Very good. The service was 5-Star in my opinion. The place is clean, well laid out. Highly recommend!

Driving up to the place. The parking lot was packed, always a good sign the food would be good…read more After viewing the extensive menu, I settled on the Pete's trio which consisted of 2 pork ribs, smoked sausage (they offer a vary of different sausages, I got the cheese and jalapeño), 1/4 lb of brisket, pickles and one side (recommend the camp beans or the parm potatoes). You order and pay, they hand you a buzzer. When the buzzer goes off you go to the kitchen window to pick up your food. The bar has just about everything you could ask for, including local wines and brews. I just went with a soft drink, my only complaint was they served Pepsi products which I am not particularly fond of, but at least they had Dew. You have to find your own table indoor and outdoor seating. But getting back to the food. Simply put, some of the best sausage and ribs I've ever had. The brisket was very tasty, but a bit more fatty than I'd like to see. Also, I did not see burnt ends on the menu, which is it my go to. The place is clean and the staff are quick to clean tables as soon as customers leave. Overall a very good experience with high quality food. Prices are reasonable to other BBQ places in the area. I definitely plan to go back next time in the area!

It's just okay. Judging by the line of this place you would think it was top notch…read more Let's talk about the pros. It's clean considering how busy it is. Portions were good sized. Food was good (not the best I have had in New York) Cons. I absolutely hated that I waited in line just to order for 30 mins. Then I found a table just to wait at least another 45 for my food. I have never waited this long for BBQ. You serve your self to get your drink and bbq sauce since they don't add any sauce or put any out on the table like most bbq places. This day they only had one sauce out. The honey mustard. Both the original and the hot bbq sauce were empty. I told the bartender and still nothing. This was a big disappointment to me. This place is a one and done for me. I don't feel I need to go back.

Everything was clean and maintained well. Our server came over and took our drink order. The drinks came out quickly. My 7&7 was strong and hit the spot. We ordered the chicken bacon ranch Mac & cheese and an order of garlic Parmesan wings. The food came out fairly quickly and man o man! Everything looked and smelled awesome. Mac & cheese ohh so yummy and such a huge portion, and it was only a side portion. The wings..... the best I've had in such a long time. Perfectly cooked. Generous and flavorful sauce. Bleu cheese, house made, equally as good as everything else. Everything was good and a fair price. We left happy, and full.

What can I say? We tried Mooney's because we heard about their famous mac and cheese, and…read morehonestly...the hype is well earned. We ordered the Rodeo Mac and Cheese and the Bacon Chicken Ranch Mac and Cheese (both in the whole size--think 5-6 cups each!), plus the Rodeo Burger, which comes topped with BBQ pulled pork and crispy onion straws. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS, and even with our family of five, we still had leftovers. So. Much. Food. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. We ate downstairs, though there's a bar upstairs if that's more your vibe. Our waitress was super friendly and even tried to warn us that one whole mac would be plenty--but we wanted to try both flavors, so next-day leftovers were just part of the plan. Pricing felt very reasonable for the giant portions and the quality. Mooney's is one of those restaurants that knows exactly what it does well--and does it really well. We'd definitely come back!
