Casual spot with a bar and pub menu. Our server was attentive and prompt, and the food came out quickly. We were expecting it to be pricier than it was because of the location, but everything was pretty reasonably priced. The wings were phenomenal (we had medium wings w blue cheese). Nachos were huge for a half order. Everyone else enjoyed their sandwiches and fries. It was quiet (Monday night) and the only thing to consider would be the parking situation. That new beginning came through an opportunity sought by LakeHouse Pub owners Dennis Coleman, Joe Goethe and Michael Wamp. His own family's legacy began at 100 S. Lowell St. in Syracuse, as his family began the world-reknown Coleman's Authentic Irish Pub. Both Coleman and Hanover agreed: They didn't want to replicate Morris's, but they didn't want to replicate the Irish pub either. They are the closest thing to a Clark's roast beef I've had, so we were very satisfied. Fries and onion rings were good, mustard and horseradish had a good kick, the salt in the kimmelwick was plentiful and easily wiped off if you wanted less. Between the buns rests some nicely cooked and delicious fresh roast beef. If horseradish is your go to, you can get that on the sandwich or on the side. I heard they have beef on weck. I used to live in western NY, and a good beef on weck sandwich is hard to find in the Syracuse area. It was a sunny day, so I took a trip to Skaneateles, and arrived shortly after noon. I got seated right away, and ordered a Guinness. Then the sandwich. Had onion rings as my side. Everything came out quickly. The sandwich was delicious - love the caraway seeds on top. There was a generous portion of moist, tender, rare beef on the bun. You get au jus, horseradish, and a radish sauce on the side. The onion rings were super hot, crispy and tasty. Server was attentive and friendly! Great lunch on a cold winter day. This is nothing like the flexible service oriented small town I grew up in) Too bad..... another one bites the dust. This seemed like a decent replacement for "Mo's" until now (I think Doug's may be the last place standing with the same character as locals are used too) That said, they do have a great roast beef (especially home made horse radish) and great/unique beer selection. Final note: a manager just came over to ask why "I'm giving the bar tenders a hard time" because I asked them about the rule and (politely) explained my side. I thought we were just talking but then felt very uncomfortable. On this hot day it was nice to come into a really cool air conditioned dining room. Waitress said to take any available seat. My friend and I sat at a booth and were greeted promptly. The menu is small but they have a good assortment of things. I knew the roast beef was great because I had it before so I opted for the shrimp tacos and onion rings. It was 2 tacos with fried shrimp, coleslaw and dressing. I really loved the dressing it was spicy but not too spicy. The onion rings were ok they could have had more of a crunch they were falling apart. The service was good, the atmosphere was cozy, dark wood, long bar with a few craft beers on tap. Walked in and it's seat yourself for lunch. My server was over to see me very quickly, and I didn't need a menu because I was there for the Monday special, 1/2 price Beef on Weck. It is very hard to find this sandwich outside of Buffalo, so I was excited. The roast beef was medium rare, very tender and had been briefly dipped in aus jus. My roll tasted perfectly like the ones in Buffalo, a hard roll with salt and caraway seeds on top. They had a lovely,creamy horseradish sauce, but next time I'll ask for more horseradish. They had a nice beer selection, many local choices. My server checked on me regularly and overall it was a really good. I can't wait to go back and try other things. read more

The stranger sitting beside me on my flight home corrected me: "Beef on Weck isn't a Skaneateles thing, it's a Buffalo thing". So sue me. All my years in California and I can't really think of any regional foods that anyone must try when they visit either the northern half or the southern half. But in upstate New York, I've now been introduced to three such offerings: The Garbage Plate, Salt Potatoes, and Beef on Weck which I sampled in a part of upstate New York apparently not known for it. LakeHouse Pub's version is a Roast Beef Sandwich ($8.00, half price on Mondays) on a kimmelweck roll. Add your choice of red onion, horseradish, spicy mustard, mayo or horsey sauce (my choice; no horses used in its making) and you've got your regionally authentic - though maybe not "city" authentic dish. It'd been decades since I'd had a roast beef sandwich and this one was decent, especially at that price. The salty/caraway crusted kimmelweck roll is, I think, what pulls the whole thing together along with the horsey sauce and au jus. At any rate, the sandwich was much better than the fries I got as an accompaniment. Mostly here at the LakeHouse Pub, I liked the ambiance. It's a very casual pub across the street from the lake with good, friendly service and no pretension. We sat at the bar with televisions in front of us screening the US Open. I could easily see this as a destination of choice for a simple lunch or dinner and good strong drinks. I'll apparently have to try Beef on Weck again someday, in Buffalo, but even if I never get there I'd still say that the version at LakeHouse Pub is good enough. read more

I will start this as I always do by saying that I don't give out five stars unless I am really blown away. I have stopped in here a few times for lunch never drinks and dinner. The food is good normal bar food. it seems like a better place to come if you are out for drinks with friends. If I ever do that I will rewrite my review. The bartender does a decent job. LakeHouse Pub is the place to be on a Monday! They have the best beef sandwiches in the area. On Mondays you can get a sandwich for $5.00. The bun comes with a bit of salt on top, so if you don't like salt, you can request a bun without it. The sandwich comes with beef, cheese, and onions. Beware, the horseradish is delicious, but VERY spicy. Try a little before you spread it on your bun. They do have a horseradish sauce that has a little less kick. read more

This little pub was recommended to us for their French dip sandwich. I'm pretty much obsessed with French dip and couldn't wait to try it out. As we walked in the front door, it literally just looked like we were walking into an old pub, but then I noticed some dining tables around the perimeter. We sat down and were greeted by a friendly server. Since I'm also obsessed with Reuben's, we decided to order both and split. The meat on both is so thinly sliced, tender, juicy and quite tasty! The roast beef can be ordered with grilled onions and Swiss cheese as well, with options of horseradish or horsey sauce (combo or horseradish and sour cream). The Ruben was topped with melted cheese and quality sauerkraut. The yumminess didn't stop at the meat, even the sandwich breads need to be discussed. Both the sandwich roll and dark rye bread tasted fresh and homemade. The roll was sprinkled with herbs and sea salt, and the rye was perfect! We also ordered the nachos, which were quite good. The chicken stayed consistent as a good meat. It was cut into slightly unappealing rectangles, making it appear to be processed. However, the chicken tasted fresh and tender. I got over the weird rectangular shapes and accepted it. I liked that even though this place is basically a bar, it didn't have the stale smell of alcohol. Every time I go here, the staff is horrendous. The waitresses are mean and make you feel like an inconvenience for wanting food or drink. We absolutely love the lake house. It has turned into our go-to place in Skaneateles. Is there bar food is extremely good. I think I've had everything they have with chicken and never have been disappointed or walked away hungry. My fiance is a vegan and she claims that their salads are unbelievable. To me they look good. LOL she Raves about them about to taste and the amount as she gets a side salad and they are huge. We usually sit in the front window and usually get the same waitress and she is absolutely wonderful, I'm sorry I don't know her name but she works at area every time we're there and does a fantastic job also.
