Sadly, I've only been here twice but each time was better than the last. Jordan was our server and was outstanding from beginning to end. To start, I got a small Caesar. It was filling and the croutons were delicious. Drink wise, I went with the socialista and was pleasantly surprised. It was fruity but not overly sweet. For my entree, I got the steak frites and substituted the side for Brussel sprouts and got the truffle fries based on Jordan's recommendation. The steak was ok, but the chimichurri def made it better. As Jordan mentioned, the fries were a hit. Sadly, the Brussel sprouts were not as I had hoped. I was expecting them to come crispy and seasoned but they weren't. Overall, service was great and the food was just as good.
We made reservations for dinner on Mother's day. None of us had ever been to Stone Turtle before, I wanted to try Brunch, but dinner reservations were more open. It's a small place, cozy dining room and a separate bar. Hostess stand right up front and Genesis greeted us and also was our server. She was great, lots of energy and really cared about making our experience a great one. She was fabulous throughout! She had the bartender create a drink using mezcal and smoke, it was really good, a great start. The Caprese salad was our appetizer of choice, we enjoyed it and got extra bread to soak up the oil and vinegar. I ordered the grilled salmon with roasted potatoes and asparagus. It came with horseradish and a bourbon citrus glaze. It was cooked well and I enjoyed the horseradish, had never had it with salmon before. Our fist visit was a success, we will be back to try brunch soon
Great experience here tonight. We sat at a high top table in the bar and Genesis waited on us. She was delightful. Friendly and very polite. I ordered the Caesar salad with salmon and asked for my salmon to be medium rare because so often salmon is overcooked. Well it came out a bit too rare- which is easy to resolve than when overdone. Genesis was happy to ask the kitchen to throw it back on for 1-2 minutes. Salad was delicious. I love their croutons- which usually I ignore but theirs were really good. My friend got a salad with steak and the steak was also tasty.
Stone Turtle always hits for brunch! I had made plans with friends to go to the pool but the weather wasn't cooperating, this was the best alternative to spend time together and enjoy a great meal! We always get the bottle to make our own mimosas and it's truly the best and most cost effective. I got the burger and it was delicious and cooked perfectly. I've loved everything I've had here and am making a conscious effort to come back for dinner.
Absolutely wonderful experience. Went in Friday evening & the staff & owner were so attentive trying to find us a table. Only took a few minutes til a bar spot opened up. I have been here many times but tried some nee items this go around. Steak au poivre Caesar salad Truffle aioli & parm fries. Caesar was so good we ordered a 2nd one! The steak was melt in your mouth. The grits were amazing- a pan fried(?) slice. Crispy yet creamy & oh so delicious. Bar is dark & chill atmosphere. Miley the bartender makes some mean cocktails. And the cocktail ice cubes have turtles or dragons in them. Just a fun little thing to remember them by.
City dining in November with my wife's college friend. We chose Stone Turtle. some place new to everybody. This little quaint restaurant in Dogtown is small and intimate. It has basic burgers to nice steak dinners. I had the steak entree special 12 oz strip steak and saffron risotto. The steak was cooked to medium as I like it and the risotto was a nice mouthfeel soft melt in your mouth flavorful.. I added a white wine to go with my steak choice A Hess Chardonnay this was easy drinking and slightly fruity . We opted out of the desert menu. A tough decision although the desert menu was tempting. I recommend this restaurant you will not be disappointed with Stone Turtle
Cozy ambiance but the food and service seemed very slow. I ordered cheese curds and a side house salad. Asked for some ranch to go with the cheese curds (was charged extra for the dipping sauce - strange that the curds don't come with a sauce and would have been nice to be told that it's an extra charge for jalepeno ranch). The cheese curds were good. I did end up sending the salad back after two bites because it had goat cheese on it. (Totally my fault for not realizing that there was goat cheese. Was still surprised to see it on my bill but did not complain as it was my fault for not remembering that it had it on there. I would have asked to have it removed, and the waiter did offer to have the chef remake it.) The other diners with me did enjoy their meals and libations.
Amazing service by Genesis. Steak was just okay but very fair price. A little too much sauce. Amazing drinks, great price & tons of options esp na. Buratta salad very gd. Salmon nice, grits a little too salty but loved them as an option.
Our whole family loves the giant stone turtle by the Zoo so the name of this restaurant caught my eye. It is several blocks south of the eponymous statue, and the restaurant likes in the heart of Dogtown. The restaurant is dived into two areas, a dining room and a bar area. There are a mixture of booths and tables, with most seating 4 people. The interior is welcoming and has a warm vibe to it. The acoustics were somewhat loud, but that was the only complaint. Our server Genesis was very enthusiastic and attentive. There were a large number of beers on draft and a good selection of cocktails. The food I'd describe as american fare mixed with asian themes. We got Tiger Rolls which were crab rangoon in egg roll form, some ribs with asian seasoning ,and a brisket dip and fries. All three were very good. The brisket dip was HUGE and I ended up taking all of it home. Overall this is a good addition to the Dogtown neighborhood and it is worth checking out.
This was a disappointing experience - especially with regard to wait times. My sister & I had to wait about 10 minutes for our server to come to our table. They we waited about 20 minutes for our drinks. Then, 10 minutes later, after we received her salad and my appetizer, we had to wait about 40 minutes for our entrees. My Italian Spritz cocktail was light and refreshing. The Tiger Rolls appetizer was pretty good. It's kind of like an egg roll version of crab rangoon. They were served with cilantro jam dipping sauce, which was OK. I pretty much just ate my Tiger Rolls on their own. Regarding my entree, my pork chop was delicious, and cooked to a perfect medium. However, the cheddar grits that came with it, while they were flavorful, were overcooked and lumpy. Also, the Brussels sprouts side item probably could've used some more roasting. The pork chop was the most enjoyable item on my plate. It appeared as though they were understaffed for the evening. Our server apologized for the excessive wait times, informing us that the kitchen was getting slammed. Nevertheless, having to wait so long for our food prevented us from having an enjoyable meal.
The food was really good and tasty! The calamari was pretty airy. The steak and chimichari was melt in your mouth and the brisket tasted so good. The servers were fast and helpful! The resturant was nice but you could also wear jeans
We came here for Father's Day and we did enjoy our meal. I got the pork chop and it tasted pretty good and was seasoned very nicely. I wish the menu had a few more options. I also got the watermelon drink and it was very good and refreshing. I also asked for it to be sweeter and they did that. We got there right when it open and it seemed like it did take a little while for our food to get to our table. But overall, the service was good.

I've heard great things about brunch, esp the Chicken & Waffle. The Breakfast Burger + Tots peaks my interest, as their dinner burger is one of the best in town! They need to work on their service, like a lot!. I mean I literally got up from the table and went to the host stand and got us water because nobody got it for us in a long time (20 min at least). Also, my wife ordered coffee, which comes in a French Press (which is cool) but something was wrong with it and there was a lot of coffee grounds in the cup and I called the guy and told him about it, ask him to please address it and he asked my wife "Have you ever use a french press?" (What?), it sounded super patronizing, there are way better ways to say that (ask the same thing). And yes, we have used one (multiple times) and something was wrong with that one. I had in the past given them 5 start for the food but this time the service was really disappointing, but I do have to say the food was worth the wait. The Dogtown Omelet still one of the best omelets I've had. The burger (another person on the table got it and told me) was really good. read more

So, this place has been on my brunch wish list for months. So I FINALLY went with my mom this past Saturday. I was able to make same day reservations very easily using Open Table from their website. Booked Saturday at noon for 2 around 9am that morning. Parking is all on the side streets which can be tricky in Dogtown but we got lucky. We went in and were seated promptly. Nice window seat. We ordered the waffle & fruit , French toast, and Dogtown omelette which we shared. Oh an my mom was feeling froggy (lol ) so she got a French Press Coffee w/ a Jamieson. French Toast was mouthwatering ! And the brown sugar bacon ....I really wanted more than two pieces. Our server, Maz (pictured below) was awesome! Great at explaining the menu and very personable. I absolutely plan on going back. More items I want to try on the brunch menu! read more

Had such a lovely afternoon here catching up with a close friend! The atmosphere in this friendly and warm restaurant has always been very welcoming, but today was something else . We were greeted by the best server, Maz, who immediately fulfilled our request for being seated near the sunlight, and recommended we get the mimosa bucket! His jokes cracked us up, so we complied haha. Once the conversation was flowing, it was time to order our brunch for the day. They have a separate brunch menu : We shared the Waffles+fruits: very refreshing, served with fresh watermelon, strawberries and blackberries, with a crisp golden waffle in the center topped with whipped cream. Flawless and light and airy. Mushroom omelet: great option for those choosing to eat vegetarian. The spinach, arugula and mushroom were in a perfect ratio with the egg, and it comes with a generous portion of fries. Maz was kind enough to bring us a locally made green hot sauce which was truly delightful. We wrapped up our brunch with a slice of cheesecake. Went for brunch on a Sunday with a few girlfriends and it was so busy! We were lucky we had a reservation. We opted to get several plates and share everything. We go two smashed avocado toast which were okay- nothing to write home about- were on English muffins. Their chicken and waffles were good and the omelet was delicious. The omelet was probably my favourite! Would comeback. Good service and food comes out quickly. read more

There were 10 of us celebrating a birthday on a Monday night. Drinks were amazing. 4 people got the lavender Spritz (having loved it before) I had Vieux Carre and my friend had the Boulevardier. We ordered seconds. Then I thought I would just get appetizers instead of the main meal: calamari, burrata salad, and tiger rolls. All yummy and so much food that I've had 2 more dinners with leftovers! Other things we loved: chicken wings, brisket dip, salmon and steak. No room for dessert. Service was good too read more
Amazing.... Came back, first time since COVID began and it's just as amazing as before. The service is fantastic (thank you Maz) sp? The food is awesome and the old fashions, PERFECT. I am not usually one to order a pork chop, because I figure it will be dry, like mine at at home, but Wowzers was I happy with my pork chop. Thick and juicy and cooked and seasoned perfectly. I kept eating, even though i was plenty full, but didn't want to stop tasting the goodness on my plate. My brothers fish n chips were really really good and my husbands salmon with the potatoes, wonderful... we can't wait to come back, likely for brunch. read more
Love this place! Every time I visit Saint Louis, Stone Turtle is always on my list of places to go. Great service, great food selections and excellent drinks. The smoking old fashion is a must - plus, you get toy turtle souvenirs in the ice block in your drink! They also have a nice Sunday brunch menu worth checking out. My favorite place to dine in Dogtown so far. The food is spectacular, the vibe is great and the service is always on point. Nick is the manager and this guy is a class act let me tell ya. The pork tenderloin sando is a winner! The salmon entree kills it, the harvest salad is on point like no other salad should be, the sprouts are like crack and the cashew/pork belly apps are pure foodie crack, get them all, thank me later. The Berkshire pork chop is my favorite item on the menu bar none. Delicious period! Never been big on desserts (no sweet tooth I know of yet) but the NY style blueberry cheesecake is worth giving a go at for sure. Love this cute corner spot in dogtown! They have a bar side and a more sit down type side depending on what vibe you are wanting. The staff are friendly and accommodating. I got the buratta mushroom salad and it was the BEST salad I have had in a long time! I also got the tiger rolls which were a nice change up to something more of a unique appetizer. @stl.foodie read more
Very friendly waitstaff in this affordable nicer place. Nice little intimate space that is half half table seating and half bar. Super simple and easy to follow menu. I ordered the salmon (which came with potatoes and asparagus). It was very good, but a little the wasabi in the seasoning was not distributed evenly and I got some very wasabi heavy bites. We chose Stone Turtle to host our son's Wedding Rehearsal dinner, and we could not be more pleased. Nick (the owner) did a fantastic job in the planning stages, offering us plenty of menu options and being open to our needs. He kept in touch, always responsive to emails and calls, taking care to make sure everything was completed on time and on budget. The night of the dinner, Nick and the entire staff were amazing. All friendly and helpful. We could not have asked for a better crew to take care of our group. The food was simply fantastic. Every single person in our group of 50+, without exception, was impressed with the their meal. Whether they had the burger, salmon, or their famous ribs, we heard nothing but praise for the food from all of our guests. Most importantly, the bride and both moms were completely happy. And in the end, that was the goal. Nick and his crew not only achieved that goal, they knocked it out of the park! read more

This very popular place was good but not great for the price. I have to caveat that comment by letting you know we did not eat dinner. We had the Mango Habanero chicken wings and Tiger Rolls which were both excellent. I had a Manhattan to drink and my wife had a Bee's Knees which were both good. They used Dolin vermouth which is good, not great. The lower rating comes because the place smelled a bit like sewage and the prices are high. read more
Umm, can I tell you how much I love this place? I learned there's an impressive happy hour at a Yelp event last night too, so you'll probably see me often. The buratta salad is heaven and I want the recipe to the salad dressing so I can have it in my daily life for lunch. The macaroni and cheese makes me think naughty things, for real I'd lick the cast iron skillet. The cocktails I drink by the twos and the Mexican lady is my absolute favorite. Smoky mezcal and basil simple syrup and cayenne salt rim. It pairs well with anything. I'm so happy for a place that can nail the cocktail and food game. I'm thrilled that you're here! Came here for my friends Christmas lunch after seeing good reviews on Yelp. Our party arrived in waves but the waitress continued to check on us after each new person arrived to see if we needed anything. Really appreciated that and she didn't seem annoyed at all. I got the Mac and cheese with a side of Brussels sprouts with bacon. Everything was good although I should have just split the mac and cheese with my friend who also got it as the serving was plenty for 2 people. My friend ordered Riesling and said she liked sweet wine so the waitress added some simple syrup to make it sweeter. Unfortunately it was too sweet but when we told the waitress she brought more wine to add and lessen the sweetness. Very much appreciated!! read more

As a Dogtown resident, I was thrilled to see a new addition to our charming neighborhood. I came here for brunch a few weeks ago and boy oh boy, it is hands down my new brunch place! The inside is rustic with a warm feel to it, like you're going to a bar you've been at your whole life. Everyone is extremely friendly and attentive who works there. I got the salmon with grits cake. The salmon was perfectly cooked and seasoned; it melted in your mouth. The portion was also really generous, around 6 ounces. The grits cake was creamy with a flavorful crust and it heated up perfectly later since I took home half of my food as leftovers! The arugula salad had a light dressing that was perfectly seasoned. The egg was also perfectly cooked and they made it exactly how I requested, with a hard white and semi-hard yellow. YUM. My friend got the breakfast in bread. There was tons of cheese, caramelized vegetables, and huge chunks of sausage. I'm not sure where they source their bread from but it was chewy and flavorful. I posted a photo of this delicious dish and the salmon so go check them out to get your mouth watering! I haven't been here for dinner but their menu looks great and I'm very intrigued by their cocktails. I'm looking forward to going here again, definitely check them out for brunch! read more
that's a slay for me. the fried cheese curds are alright would be better with some marinara dipping sauce. the tagliatelle slaps!!! like the sauce coats every last noodle and soaks your tongue in a delicious creamy goodness. the fish and chips are fried to perfection. so thick. so big. each piece was as a big as my face. the lemon aoli was great as dipping sauce too. loved to service to. everyone was so kind and the food comes out real quick read more
