We actually went on a Friday morning, but the server told us the menu is the same, they were just less busy. We did make a reservation, and for the weekend it may be needed. They have a great spritz list for brunch, and both breakfast/brunch as well as lunch options. Some of the plates are quite large, and could be shared, but they have a few lighter options. And oh, the hash browns! This was one of my favorite things I ate on our trip to Boston. Crispy outside, the right soft potato inside, and buttery without being greasy. Everything else was very good, I had the breakfast BLT, but it will be the potatoes that would bring me back.

The server was very knowledgeable and attentive. The tacos were pretty good, but if you're a taco maven, don't get them. To be honest, the fish taco had too much Mayo/sauce on it. They each came with two corn tortillas, which were a little stuck together as if microwaved. It was definitely my mistake because they are definitely not a Mexican restaurant. I would be interested in their salmon dish, as well as their bowls. Four stars for good options (gf included), good portion size, and good vibes. Will definitely be returning to try more!

Five Horses accommodated us very quickly without a reservation, which we appreciated so much! There was something on the menu for everyone, we all opted for sandwiches and pasta dishes. The crispy Brussels sprouts appetizer blew us all away, as did the cocktails. I had a delicious raspberry Benito, and my cousin's blackberry crush was so good as well. Everything was delivered fast, and it was the perfect amount of food for us all. My only thing was that the "crispy fries" side dish was not very crispy - a thinner version of steak/wedge fries that I personally am not a fan of. I liked that these were thinner, but I was expecting a crunch. That's not going to turn me away from coming back and I will be recommending this place to others! I can't wait to show my friends.

We got the lemon pepper rotisserie chicken, and I truly think it was the best chicken and whipped potatoes of my life. I cannot describe how perfectly the flavors went together, the chicken was so tender with the perfect amount of lemon and pepper, and the potatoes were perfection. It was so good, I can see ourselves going back this same trip! I don't leave many reviews, but after we ate I looked at my husband and said, "that was so good I have to leave a review." Bianca greeted us warmly and took great care of us! We were so tired from a long day of travel and had our luggage with us, and she was so accommodating. We also had their raspberry cheesecake for dessert, and it was the perfect cheesecake texture that was rich and dense and creamy. If you're in Boston, go, go, go!!! And get the chicken and whipped potatoes. You won't regret it!

I personally think if it isn't in a thin glass you lose the right to charge more than $11 for any wine ever. Olive Garden vibes. But worse bc at Olive Garden I expect a thick glass so I enjoy it. Here I expected an actual wine glass. Calamari was...I mean it's on me for not realizing at first that it said a olive aioli bc this is New England and I am used to our calamari but I gave that sauce a good try. It is foul. It tastes like what calamari tastes like when it comes back up hours later. Literal vomit taste. And the calamari was so so so lightly ever so lightly fried. The la croix of fried. They whispered "cook!" To it. I've never seen paler calamari. I realize it is Mediterranean style and not the style from here with peppers and marinara but I must say I was still thinking it couldn't be bad bc I'm not picky so was still eager to try and yet it was. Not a single season other than the sickly sweet and sour olive aioli on a damn near raw, bland calamari, which I WOULD feed to my worst enemy bc I truly hate them. I would recommend this to an annoying tourist who is rude so they never come back to the city, Trump aka same thing, or your in laws you can't stand for their anniversary. Perchance your boss too if you don't get a raise. This is a punishment.

Five Stars -- One of the Finest Pasta Dishes I've Ever Eaten in Boston…read more I've spent the better part of six years exploring Boston's restaurant scene - an expensive hobby or a habit I can't break, from the North End to some of the city's most celebrated fine-dining establishments. Every once in a while, a dish comes along that is so extraordinary it reminds me why I love dining out in the first place. Chef Sarah Wade's Uni Cacio e Pepe at SJ's is one of those dishes. The menu describes tonnarelli pasta with uni crème fraîche, Pecorino, black pepper, grated cured egg yolk, and Osetra caviar. But that description doesn't begin to capture this dish. The magic is the uni. The photo posted, mind you, isn't a file photo or taken from their website. This is what I was actually served! I had never fully appreciated what sea urchin could bring to a pasta sauce. I'd always associated uni primarily with Japanese cuisine, which has never been a particular favorite of mine. Imagine the richness of the finest cultured butter blended with the luxurious, silky texture of exceptional olive oil. That's the closest I can come to describing it. The uni creates this buttery coating that clings to every strand of pasta, almost slippery in the most wonderful way, delivering an intensely rich flavor with every bite. I detected no seafood flavor. Instead, the black pepper provided a beautiful counterbalance to the richness, while the Pecorino and cured egg yolk added complexity. Everything worked together. Nothing overwhelmed anything else. I've enjoyed some truly remarkable meals at restaurants such as Sarma, Tonino, Field & Vine, and Mooncusser. I don't make comparisons to those restaurants casually. But this pasta belongs in that company. It's one of the finest individual dishes I've ever been served anywhere in Boston. Boston Magazine, I hope you're paying attention. This place better make your Top 50 Best Restaurants list next year. I expect nothing less than top 15. Your credibility is on the line . . . Absolutely extraordinary. Five stars.

The gravy was done perfectly, just wish there was some mashed potatoes to go with it. It came with carrot and cabbage. You could tell it was cooking for several hours with love. Definitely worth it! The Bigoni Carbonara was very rich made with thick homemade spaghettoni. It was very guanciale forward in flavor. We added pepper as we ate it. Then we arrived and were coldly told the terrace was booked until 10pm so we could only stand at the indoor bar. Then a member of the staff came over and asked us how long we planned to stay because they might want us to move tables...and we were like well we're going to stay as long as it takes to eat the oysters and bread we ordered that haven't come in 30 mins...?
