If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I was trying to get in to get an inspection and thought you had to pull up but the gentlemen with big curly hair was waving me to go around. When I went around, he was still making hand gestures at a distance and I couldn't understand what he was trying to communicate to me. I rolled down my window and he yelled at me, "Find a spot!" I recently moved to Austin and started the process to get my vehicle registered with the end goal of getting my drivers license. I went to Sticker Shop as it was close to my work, I hadn't even read the strong reviews on Yelp prior to going. I ended up having to go a couple of times due to some issues with my car, but so glad that I had Sticker Stop to help me through the process. Unfortunately, I never had the quick fast 10 minute experience, as it seems most people go at the beginning of the month at lunch hour and after work. However, the service staff here were phenomenal. They told me upfront how long the wait would be (and they were correct with their estimate each time). They have a couple of chairs inside, or a bench outside to wait on, and restrooms in the back to utilize. The staff at each visit were very informative and celebrated with me when my car finally passed. Simply put, this is a vehicle emissions inspection spot. They do well at what they do, and when I need to renew each year you better bet it will be with Sticker Stop Next time though I will call in advance to check in on the wait, as that is what they suggested for the future. read more

Í came to Sticker Stop for an inspection to get my registration renewed. My vehicle didn't pass because i had UV protection tinting on my windshield which i knew was one shade too dark. The manager of the business came out to me as i was leaving and was apologetic that they could not pass my vehicle. She offered to help me remove the tinting tight then so i wouldn't have to return later. Melissa (it may have been Michelle, can't remember correctly) was great and pealed the tint off, took my failed inspection sheet back inside and reissued a passed document. I didn't even have to get out of my vehicle (i have mobility issues) as she did it all. Excellent customer service and i will be coming back. read more

This place sucks! I stopped here because it was the closest location to where I was at the time. Horrible customer service from Jenny, who was totally rude and just kept barking at me that she needed to see the insurance card with dates and vehicle info listed right after I opened up my insurance app on my phone. I was also told that the wait would be 30 minutes plus 10 for the inspection. A guy walked in nearly 20 minutes after I'd already been waiting and his car was ready well before mine. This really pissed me off too. I ended up waiting over an hour for my car to be ready. What.The.Fuck. I have no intention of ever coming back to this dump of a place. read more

They usually do fine, but only if there are no issues and you have a completely run-of-the mill car. However, I have had to educate the inspectors twice now on my early 90s Jeep when they've tried to fail it. I had to read to them their own posted notice about exemptions to the third brake light rule, and they tried to fail my windshield for a tinting issue that they had no problem passing three times before. Turns out the inspector was measuring it wrongly. However, when I asked to be shown the actual statute that was causing the failure, just so I could make sure to be in full compliance with my correction, they treated me like I was being belligerent and accusing them of being wrong. (They were, but I was assuming they were correct in the moment and simply asking for the text of the rule.) Bringing it back and showing another inspector how to measure it cleared things up. Overall, you'll generally be fine here, but know your stuff if you have an older or non-standard vehicle. read more

They really work hard and are very efficient. I had a license plate bulb burned out which failed my test. Came back the next week with a replacement bulb installed but didn't re-screw in the cover as it was corroded & looked broke. Attendant saw the cover sitting in my console with the screws and went above & beyond by screwing it back in for me, which otherwise would have resulted in another failed test. Being new to Texas , and coming from a state that doesn't inspect vehicles, I was not sure of the process. The two guys that work there didn't tell me that I needed to take my insurance information inside. After sitting outside waiting for them, my husband asked one of the guys what was taking so long. He told us that we had to take our insurance information inside. He was very rude and ugly to us. My husband went inside to speak with the manager, who was the owner. He took our vehicle and inspected it himself. After he found out that we are not from Texas, he was extremely nice to us and apologized. The owner was extremely nice! State inspections are one of those things that you put off until the very last moment, and at very least, you want it to be as quick and painless as possible. I had previously been going to the same place several years in a row, but found myself with time to kill, and I remembered seeing Sticker Stop right around the corner, so I decided to give it a try. I arrived with my two dogs in tow and walked in to possibly THE friendliest staff I have ever encountered! They had signs everywhere letting you know to bring your insurance inside so that you were prepared. They signed me in, had the inspection done, and I was out in FIFTEEN minutes! They were even so kind as to leave my vehicle running with the AC cranked up so my pups could cool off. They were so welcoming, and were happy to give my boys pets and love. The Sticker Ladies are all about convenience, even when your doh-doh brain waited too long to return for a re-inspection after a repair. You see, they have a policy where if you pay for an inspection and you don't pass, you have 15 days to have your aging vehicle repaired, return to the Sticker Ladies and they'll re-inspect it, no charge. My senior citizen Jeep had a busted brakelight and a compromised gas cap. Oops. They replaced the brakelight on Visit #1, only charging for the part. Visit #2 after gas cap replacement was *still* painless. I must have caught them on a good Monday morning then: She: Mornin' there, need an inspection? Me: Ya, but I think I waited too long to return to you guys after I had a repair. She: [Reading paperwork and deadline date] Aw don't worry about it, we'll get you taken care of. In at 1230 on a rainy Tuesday, out at 1300. Last time I was here it only took 10 minutes, but, I was lucky as I was the only customer. Staff here are really friendly and they bust the vehicles out two at a time. That's all they do all day long. There are at least 4 - 5 people on duty and they just keep chugging along like a well oiled machine. Vehicle in, vehicle out. That simple and they have it nailed. Why go elsewhere for an inspection? When I go to a restaurant I expect to be treated like royalty. When I go to get my vehicle inspection, I only expect you to shut the fuck up and take care of business. This place is perfect. If you walk in and have basic reading comprehension skills, you'll be happy with your visit. Let's start from the top. 10 minute inspection. 100% accurate. Your inspection takes 10 minutes. If you show up on the weekend or around closing, you may have to wait for other people's 10 minutes to be up. Go figure. Bring your proof of insurance inside. Oh, it's in your glove compartment? Wonderful. Get it out. They even take a digital version, so if it's on your phone, pull it up before you're called. Have your insurance and keys ready and take a seat. The sign is on top of the counter. There is no receptionist and the employees might be working on someone else's car. Don't freak out, just sit down. I went inside and sat down. After a minute someone came up to get my info. She came back after a few and told me one of my turn signals was out. They offered to replace it for the cost of parts, and no labor cost. That's convenient. I sat down and watched three others walk in and form a line in front of the counter, constantly looking around like their lives were incomplete because no one was acknowledging them. An employee came back inside. "Mustang! You're ready!" I walked up, paid my dues, and walked out with my keys. The whole thing took about 20 minutes. Did I die? Nope. Initially I was told the check engine light, which was on, returned some unknown code on the computer reader thing, and that I'd have to get it fixed to pass the inspection. Poo. NEVER AGAIN will I have to waste that much time!) With the new emissions regulations, everyone is trying to find a place to get their cars looked at, all hoping for an all clear report. My old car was one of the lucky ones. Sticker stop was relatively quick ( although they boast a 15 minute in and out, it was more like 45 minutes...but it was the day the inspection stickers were due and there were long lines, so ill give em the benefit of the doubt.) While we waited the woman at the counter directed us around the corner for what has quickly become my favorite deli ...The Garden Spot. They performed the task at hand, and after being required to purchase a window wiper to replace one with split rubber (it was either that or returning for the sticker after replacing the wiper myself), the inspection was complete. I arrived Monday at 2:26 pm and was out the door at 3:27 pm......um yeah not exactly the 10 minutes they advertise. If you're going to make people wait almost an hour for a routine inspection check, at least offer some coffee/water and something (anything!) of interest in the waiting room. read more

They should probably take down the 10 minute inspection sign. This was my third year coming here and definitely the last. A year and a half ago I was in an accident that resulted in a scratch to the outer wall of a tire. Insurance did not replace the tire and Discount Tire didn't even want to sell me a new one. 6 months after the accent, that tire passed inspection. Now it's a year later and the tire scratch had not changed at all but they wouldn't pass me so I was forced to buy a new pair of tires early. On my first visit this year I waited 35 minutes to not pass but they assured me when I came back I wouldn't have to wait in the full line. Not true, I waited 30 minutes while they did another full inspection. After 2+ hours including getting new unnecessary tires, I finally have an inspection sticker. read more

As advertised--mostly. The inspection takes 10 minutes once your car is in the garage. If there is a wait (as in my case), obviously you have to wait until the cars ahead of you are done. However, it's no big deal to wait in the icy cold air conditioned wait room. Speedy, efficient, no issues. I can't ask for much more from an inspection station. read more

This place was AWESOME! All women working the day I went, which was a bonus for me. They were having computer problems when I took my car in, but were completely open about it before even taking my car. It took less time than they told me, which was awesome. They were also funny and friendly, making the experience much more pleasant. Definitely earned my repeat business as they were fair to everyone, quick to get the job done, and convenient. If I can give it 0 star, I would. Been here multiple times (since it's next to my work) and every time I'm here, there's at least a 30min+ wait. And that's not what it advertise on their site. Finally I took the courage to wait and while they promised it was going to be 40min-1hr, it took them almost 2 hour to get to inspect my car. I had to go back bc my headlights were not DOT, and coming back here for the second time to reinspect my car, their system is now down and it's going to take them another 40min to get shit together. Their workers seem stressed out and don't know how to handle the amount of customers coming in. They're not happy working here and you can tell. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come here for their inspection. It is so inconvenient and it shows in their operation and in their workers. read more

The best thing about here is that they only do inspections unlike repair shops who try to get you to make repairs also . Got my car inspection done here. The staff was very courteous and ready to help. I could tell they were really rushing to get people in and out as soon as possible. I did fail my inspection because of a minor issue. Got it fixed the next day. Went back to Sticker Stop a few days later, they quickly checked my car again and passed me. Didnt have to pay the second time. The waiting area is very small and kind of beat up, but thats pretty common at car shops so cant expect much. read more

I reluctantly pulled out and moved on to costco (this, on the other hand, is a great place to go weekdays after work. No one's there!) At 9am on Saturday there was nary a soul to be seen. The heavens shined down on Sticker Shop and I pulled into the small venue with a glint in my eye. I -perhaps a bit too excitedly- leaped out of my ride and into the waiting room with my insurance. The young man with a penchant for heavy metal and piercings was more than happy to help me and perhaps a bit shocked by my excitement level at no wait. Free water! Free magazines! Quick inspection! I've been here for 3 inspections, and sent my wife her to do hers. I've normally had pretty solid experiences. Even when they're busy, they move at a steady clip. It's a pretty no-frills situation: they do one thing, and the price is fixed. They do it fast and they do it well. I could have seen myself bringing every car I'd ever own here, except for my most recent visit. Somehow or another, my remote start module got torn from its mount. It's under the dash, several inches from the OBD port. When I got the car back, I hopped in and hurried back to work. When I got there, I found the module hanging from a rat's nest of wires, with the mounting hardware in pieces. I called to ask if maybe someone had tugged on it accidentally, or if it could have gotten snagged on their OBD scanner or something. I was told the employee that had done my car was a pro (which I don't doubt) and would have told someone if something had happened (which I can't speculate on). That was pretty much as far as they were willing to entertain things. No more discussion to be had. It could have been an easy mistake or a simple accident. I wasn't upset or angry about it getting broken, just a little bummed. It'll only cost a couple bucks to fix. I AM a little upset at how flippantly I was dismissed. I understand not wanting to second-guess a longtime employee, but they didn't seem at all interested in even looking into it. So, I actually don't have any issue with recommending them. Just know that they approach customer service with the super-fast, no-frills, down 'n' dirty attitude that they approach the inspection process. read more

They're honest, work as fast as they can, and are friendly on a good day (and not justifiably punching you in your rude, entitled face on a bad one, *coughs* one star reviewers *coughs*). What more can you ask for when going through the unpleasant reality of an automobile inspection? (Want to hear unpleasant? I had a vehicle fail inspection. I fixed the issues, brought it back, and had it pass ... only for it to break down IN THE BAY when they went to back it out. They pushed it into a parking spot, offered advice on what the problem might be, and then lent me tools as I tried to get it going again. How's that for customer service?) They do have long waits at times, and don't have many places to sit, so be prepared to watch people *literally* die when faced with such first world problems. My review is done, so you can stop here. However, I'm going rant at the single star givers for a bit, so if you're interested, please do read on ... Inspections are like buttholes: they're necessary, but they stink. No one wants to get their car inspected. Getting all angry and rude about it with the people just trying to do their job isn't going to change anything for you. It's going to piss them off, and make you look like the jerk you are. If you wonder why an employee wasn't bubbling over with smiles and sunshine, maybe it's because they've been dealing with this kind of crap all day. So knock it off! You aren't special. Get over yourself. You know what else? Vehicles fail inspection sometimes. It happens, and it isn't Sticker Stop's fault. In fact - and there's no gentler way to say this, so forgive me - it's ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT. It's not their car. They didn't ruin your wiper blade or burn out your brake light. They didn't make your car fail its emissions test, or prevent you from researching inspection requirements beforehand. They're literally just doing their job, reporting the myriad ways your vehicle is a dismal failure in the eyes of your state and county. Share your discontent with them, not the fine people of Sticker Stop. My 4 year old knows he needs to be kind, why don't you? And by the way, Sticker Stop doesn't make the inspection rules, they just follow them so they can - oh I don't know - not run afoul of the government? Seems reasonable to me, why not you? I'd also like to reinforce what others have said. Sticker Stop doesn't do repairs, so there's no vested interest in failing you to make money. That literally makes no sense. It'd be more financially viable, though legally inadvisable, to pass your vehicle. They can't charge for re-inspection, so by failing your car, they're eating future labor costs when you bring it back. While we're on THAT subject ... Are you seriously getting pissed because you have to wait in line when you come back?? I'm sorry someone told you otherwise, but when did we become a country of such tantrum-throwing, self-involved, entitled little pricks? When did it become acceptable to show up AFTER other people already waiting, and demand you be seen before them? I guess what I'm saying is, what the hell is wrong with you? Did your parents just decide a hands-off approach was the best way to see you to adulthood? Are you, God forbid, raising your own children to behave in this manner? And while we're talking about acceptable behavior, when did it become acceptable to drive up to business, ask an employee how long the wait is, and then cuss THEM out on a personal level when their answer displeases you? (I saw this happen today, and the worst part is the employee this jerk yelled at had just provided me with above and beyond customer service, while simultaneously keeping cars moving through the bay to make wait times shorter.) So to the jackass dropping f-bombs to a complete stranger in a parking lot because his schedule is more important than basic decency ... how about you fuck right off with that nonsense. Take a breath with me. Imagine, if you will, working a job where your customer base is UNIVERSALLY unhappy to be there, but has to be. Imagine a never ending line of these unhappy customers waiting until the last minute to take care of their legal obligation, and then getting mad AT YOU because you're not working as fast as they'd like so they don't waste more of their day off, time before work, lunch break, etc. Imagine this happening all day, every day you work. The negative reviews are, sadly, not surprising. The one star reviewers are the same entitled people who degrade waitstaff, and generally treat people in the service industry like garbage undeserving of courtesy, respect, or basic decency. No one wants to get an inspection, and no one wants to deal with a car that fails. But how about we all take a step back and reflect on the fact that no one wants to go to work everyday, only to get yelled at or argued with. TL;DR Sticker Stop Burnet Road is awesome. Zero stars! It seems all the nearby vehicle state inspection options in this immediate area are unable to complete an inspection this time, leaving me with this as my last resort. I stopped coming here a couple years ago due to extremely bad customer service and poor phone etiquette (noted in a former review). But, I figured time has passed and perhaps things have improved. Not the case! I pulled up to the inspection station behind another vehicle. An angry older man decided that rather than ask us to park elsewhere or direct us to the opposite entrance he was going to pick up a large pole (8ft or so) point at us, yell at us, then slam the pole on a small "No Parking" sign. He then gestured aggressively toward the exit. I was in the "No Parking" area for 15-30 seconds. Way to greet your customers, sir. I'm NEVER using or recommending your business to anyone! read more

I used to hate inspections because of the many times I've had shop mechanics educate me on how unprofitable an inspection was without doing something like an oil change at the same time. That's why I started looking for a good place that did JUST inspections, and this is it. If you're the only car there, you WILL be in and out in 10 minutes or less. I've taken two cars there for three years in a row, and this place is surprisingly consistent about wait times. Also, as someone else mentioned, they won't burn out your clutch. Both of the cars that I've brought to them are standards, and they didn't rev this crap out of either of them. This is a HUGE plus for those of us who drive with all limbs. read more

Yay! Yelp never does me wrong; best experience I could have wished for. It's the last Saturday of the month, and I take it in mid-day. There are three people ahead of me, and they tell me that they'll get to mine in about 5-7 minutes, which I'm fine with. And though I was prepared to wait around 20-30 minutes total, I was in and out in 10 flat! The waiting area inside is nice and clean and air-conditioned, which you wouldn't think they would need to bother with, since customers wait such a short amount of time, but I really appreciated that. read more

First off, nothing in Austin can be accomplished quickly. There is simply not enough infrastructure for the amount of people. There were 6-people crammed in the small lobby during my mid-morning inspection that took 35-minutes. The workers were courteous and were moving quickly. But I can't understand why my Inspector found the need to radically adjust my driver-side power seat , and turn down the AC to 60-degrees?? To accomplish the inspection in the advertised 10-minutes, why would he/she be fiddling with the controls? Would I go back? Yes- because my visits to other type facilities (like repair shops and full service gas stations) have been painful. read more

Driving a 1997 car you're always apprehensive of getting that "annual inspection" done...I'm guessing it's the car version of seeing a gynecologist. I've actually used the Sticker Stop before with our company cars. Why do we even waste time, money, and bureaucracy on cars less than 3 years old!? Anyways, my prior visit to the Sticker Stop had one car ahead of me and I signed the credit card receipt within 30 minutes. With my '97 hoop-d I wasn't so optimistic even with no car ahead. Within 20 minutes I received the verdict: needed a windshield wiper and lug nut (where did THAT go?) replaced. I paid my $28.75 and had 15 days to return for a re-inspection. Still an under 30 minute visit! Here is another great thing about Sticker Stop. Situated within a few lights of quite a few auto places (O'Reilly's and Discount Tire in my case) to take care of my fixes I was back for my re-inspection within half an hour. Neal and Lance were both very helpful! Lance even offered to install the new windshield wiper which I shamefully did not turn down. All completed before even thinking about what was on the menu for lunch! So for at minimum a better than average auto inspection wait time, quick fixes located nearby and nice staff Sticker Stop did not disappoint. read more
